PERSONALITY dominique was born to rebel. perhaps it is the middle child syndrome at play, or perhaps her mothers' french blood winning out during the stage where her personality developed. dominique has a fiery temper, quick to anger, slow to forgive. she has a hard shell, born as the oft-overshadowed sister of victoire weasley. dominique always felt she was constantly compared to victoire, and for a long time nikki held a great resentment towards her elder sister. it was only after the death of a true friend, ethan johnson, that she realized how silly holding such resentment was. she is still a firecracker, but she is fiercely protective of the ones she loves, including victoire. she is passionate, willful and stubborn to a fault in everything she does. perhaps there is a warm, tender person deep within her; but it's not something dominque has seen since ethan died. only he knew that side of her she now buries so deep to forget what pain came of having those emotions. the smell of pine trees, the mouthwatering food groaning on tables, and spending time with her growing number of cousins. she always loved running around the burrow and its grounds, getting into trouble with uncles and cousins alike by rough-housing and playing pranks on uncle percy (aided by george though he would never admit to it). fleur decided, when nikki was seven, to take her youngest daughter to france with her, just the two of them. victoire had just gone off to hogwarts, and fleur wanted some mother-daughter time with her middle child, alone. there she introduced nikki to the finer things in life; michelin star dining, dancing, and ballets at the opera garnier. nikki came back from that trip a changed girl (well mostly, she couldn't help herself when it came to wrestling with louis), who behaved herself much better in public. at eleven, dominique finally got the chance to attend hogwarts with her elder sister victoire, who had been made prefect of slytherin house. nikki sat beneath the sorting hat for close to five minutes, debating between slytherin and ravenclaw. nikki had wanted to be in ravenclaw, for a chance to outshine her older sister, but the hat saw the ambition as a clear sign she was to be in slytherin as well. as nikki joined her sister, she vowed to make her own name. instead of working hard at her studies, nikki found herself on the quidditch pitch; beater for the slytherin house team by her second year. she also found herself in a gang of slytherins who played on the team with her, and liked to bully and prank other students, mostly in other houses, in which nikki partook. at least, she did until she became friends with ethan johnson at the end of her fourth year. the charms professor had expressed dismay at her abysmal charmwork and assigned johnson to her as a tutor. dislike (on her side) grew to mutual friendship, and perhaps a flutter of something more - though she would never admit to it. two years later, dominique was on her way back to hogwarts. victoire had graduated, and therefore nikki was now the oldest of the delacour-weasley clan at hogwarts. she was looking forward to it; her quidditch captain had written to her promising she could be an unofficial co-captain for the team, and now that OWLs were behind her, she could focus on the classes she actually found interesting. then the body was discovered. a first year, filled with hopes and dreams for their future at hogwarts, snuffed out like a candle. her cousin james had found the body, and she mourned for his guilt as well as the child. just over a month later, a second child was killed. rumors swirled that ariadne lestrange, a girl a year above her, was responsible. dominique would come to regret the part she played in fanning those flames - of course a lestrange was responsible for these murders. but she could not help but feel suspicious of her fellow slytherin, elaine dupree. then in december, ethan was attacked viciously, but survived. she visited him in the hospital wing daily, and her suspicions against ariadne grew weaker. she had observed ariadne in more detail since the rumors of her involvement began to swirl, and not only did the girl not seem the type to murder, she seemed to crumble under the accusations. she was either a very good actress, or innocent. ariadne was removed from hogwarts with her sister shortly after, and nikki noticed that elaine seemed a fair deal happier after this, and nikki felt unsettled in her own dormitory. february came with the most shocking news; her sister, victoire weasley, had been made minister. dominique should have known; her sister had a political mind she could not deny that, and who else but the famed eldest child of fleur and bill weasley would make a better minister despite her age? she hated how jealous she was of victoires' success, confessing her emotions only to ethan, who seemed to understand her. but ethan had his own troubles as well; he could not tell nikki, but she could visibly see the strain of what had happened to him in december effect him, both physically and emotionally. then, april first came, and nikkis world shattered. as she had suspected, elaine finally came forward as responsible for the murders. but she took one more for the road; ethan johnson. though she had not joined her cousins phoenix rising band, she was with them when the body was discovered. james had tried to shield her from it, but she saw anyway. her screams had been drowned out by the raging battle of the purifiers, who infiltrated and kidnapped several students, but dominique heard nothing, saw nothing else, than her true friend, someone she cared for and even loved, hanging from the stairs. she stayed in the hospital wing, and then her dormitory for the rest of term, only leaving to attend classes. one of her roommates took pity and brought her food at mealtimes, but dominque could hardly eat. when her train ride home was almost derailed by the attack on kings cross, she shouted out that they should just kill her and be done with it already; she no longer wanted to live. but she reunited with her parents and they helped her to mourn, to learn to live with her grief and sorrow. seventh year came with the hope that dominique would make quidditch captain, but instead, the triwizard tournament was to be revived. victoire wrote and told her sister this, that she had been against the tournament but had been overruled. their relationship had grown stronger after the events of her sixth year, and she looked to her elder sister for advice and guidance. it was on this information that nikki did not put her name forward for the tournament. instead, her cousin, molly weasley was selected as the hogwarts champion. she cheered for her cousin from the stands, and was elated that molly did well in the first task. before the second task however, distressing news from her sister arrived. she was not well at all, and was stepping down as minister. due to the ever-present threat of the purifiers, she was not allowed to travel home and visit her sister. so they exchanged letters, nikki taking great detail in the second and third tasks. her cousin won, to her delight. the last tournament had resulted in the death of cedric diggory, as their mother distinctly remembered, so nikki was somewhat relieved nobody had died during the tasks. her cousins victory however, was short lived; on the day the beauxbatons and durmstrang students left to return home, their transports were destroyed and many lives were lost. it was another stinging blow, but after ethan's death the previous year she was numb to the pain. their graduation was without much fanfare, and nikki jumped into an internship with magical interpol. dominque enjoyed her internship, but with the purifiers running free, she felt unfulfilled. so she turned to an old friend, gabrielle shacklebolt, whom she knew to be a bounty hunter not sanctioned by the ministry. she did not take many bounties, for she knew once she left her internship to be a full fledged member of magical interpol she would have to leave this behind, but the bounties she did take made her feel alive again. bringing the bad guys to justice gave her a thrill and elation she had not felt since before ethan died. when azkaban was destroyed just a few months later though, magical interpol was all hands on deck, and nikki barely had time to even consider a bounty, much less complete one. the months following the attack flew by, and nikki found it hard to balance her interpol life with her less-legal one, and the hags fever quarantine did not do much to help. but her aunt hermione was killed at the quidditch finals, and it was revealed that elaine dupree had not been killed in april, and though the official explanation was a fireworks malfunction, a renwed vigor in taking bountys found one....letting it slip that elaine was behind the attack. nikki knew the highest offices of the ministry knew this information, and she would be asked how she found out, so she kept it to herself. now as her second year of her internship is completed, dominique has applied and was accepted to join the international crime task force, and put her bounty hunting career behind her. now she would be fully above-water when it came to tracking down the bad guys. and that was something nikki considered to be her greatest responsibility. with the destruction of hogwarts and elaine dupree now dead, there were still followers out there. and nikki will find them and have her justice.
