July 8, 2026 Camila had no idea what to expect as she entered the tattoo parlor. She had never gotten a tattoo before, and she had read lots of things about how badly it would hurt (or not). Of course, Ilija had more tattoos than she could count, not that she had that opportunity anymore. It was still strange for Camila to think that he was her ex-boyfriend, and it was stranger still to think that she had an ex-boyfriend at all. Her relationship with Ilija had been her first real relationship. Now that it was over, she felt that she needed to put more effort into figuring out who she was apart from other people. Without the fame, she didn't feel as though she had a good idea of who she was. If she wasn't Camila Calderón, she was Carmen. And who was that except a nineteen-year-old girl from Argentina who had dropped out of school to travel the world without realizing how difficult it would be?
Thinking about it from that perspective, it was the lack of feeling that she knew who she was that had given Camila the idea of getting a tattoo. The thought of it reminded her that she was in control of her life in the end—neither her manager nor her record label were. Her body was still her own, and she had been thinking more and more about how to make her music reflect that.
She didn't have much time to dwell on that thought process after walking into Mystery Ink Arts, where a girl around her own age with black and purple hair glanced over at her. The girl, Camila noticed, was obviously pierced and tattooed; she could see ink peering out from beneath her shirt sleeves and numerous earrings in her ears. It was nothing too extreme, though, Camila thought.
The same girl looked over at one of the tattoo stations across the room from where she was standing and then looked back in her direction. Camila guessed that she recognized who she was; she had that look in her eyes, but she didn't do anything to suggest that she would be bothered in there. Instead, she spoke briefly, checking whom she was there to see, and Camila realized that she sounded like she was from the United States.
"Idris," Camila answered.
The girl blinked at her, but she seemed to understand the name. "Cool," said the girl. "I'll get him. Wait here." She then walked off, and Camila continued to look around the tattoo parlor, waiting as instructed.
"Idris?" Camila could hear the girl calling out, though she was no longer visible to her. "Uh, Camila Calderón's here for her appointment."

Without Bobby around, Idris had more or less taken over the tattoo parlor. He didn't mind the responsibility, and the extra hours never hurt either. Hopefully he would even be able to upgrade his crappy flat he had got for cheap. For the quality of life it provided, it was a adequately priced. But perhaps he could find a place that didn't creak every time there was a small breath of wind.
None of that was important right now. He was in the back break room, waiting for a client. He had set everything up previously, knowing it was a simple design, it wouldn't take as long as some of the larger projects he had gotten lately. The name on it was some big shot musician from some other country. Not that he cared in the slightest. Through his wolfish, yet human looking ears, he hard the soft bell toll, signifying someone had come. Was it his client, or maybe a walk in thinking Mystery Ink wasn't booked. Not that they were always busy, but they didn't have enough professional artists as they used to.
Though he heard his name and sighed. Guess it was his client after all. When the girl came back, he had propped his chair up on the back two legs with his legs crossed and up on the table he had leaned his head back. With his eyes closed, he was taking it easy until now. The girl announced his appointment had arrived and he stretched, letting his chair fall safely down on all four legs. "Right. Thanks. I got it from here." He moved passed the girl and walked out into the main area. Once he had left the break area, and stepped into the main area, he gave the girl his best customer service smile, which wouldn't be winning any awards or anything. But it was there. "Hey Camilla? I'm Idris. Just gotta have you fill this out, and we can get started." He handed her some paperwork with a pen. It was standard stuff, name, contact information, understanding that they would be literally stabbing you a million times to give you what you asked for. All in more legal terms. It also confirmed payment and that it would be due on completion of the work.
Once she had finished filling that out, Idris led her back to his area. He pulled the curtains around them. He had been made aware what and were she wanted the tattoo. He had set up his station so that she could comfortably sit, and lean on a padded surface while he worked on her back shoulder. "You'll need to expose the area where the tattoo would be. You can do that in whatever way you think best. Also We have privacy covers if you want one." Some girls were bashful, wanting to only expose the bare minimum, wearing something that lead to the area already being exposed. While others, weren't. he had had plenty women strip their shirt, and sometimes undergarments off as if it was nothing. He'd let the client decide, based on what she felt comfortable with. As she did, he sat in his stool, ensuring that he had everything ready, and began putting on his gloves.

July 8, 2026 In place of the girl with the black and purple hair came a man whom Camila presumed to be Idris. He was a tall and relatively thin man with an angular jaw and—as was to be expected of a tattoo artist—numerous tattoos. Sure enough, he introduced himself as Idris, and he drew her attention to what seemed to be an absolute mountain of paperwork that she needed to fill out before she could get tattooed. Camila understood that it was probably just to release him and the shop of any liability for anything that happened, but being presented with form after form to go through in English was always a fun time. Camila nodded and took the paperwork from him, at which point she filled out all of the more obvious pieces of information first. The more formal wording, though, was difficult enough that she had to pull out her phone and pull up the translation application on it so that she could tell half of what had been written that she needed to agree to in order to have the tattoo done.
As soon as she had that figured out and knew that she wasn't signing her life away or anything and actually had an idea of what the paperwork was saying, Camila finished acknowledging and signing where she needed to. She handed the paperwork back to Idris, and they made their way over to his station. Maybe it was a little bit silly of her, but Camila had expected the tattoo parlor to be in worse shape than it was. Obviously, it was the main tattoo parlor in Diagon Alley, and she had passed by it numerous times, but it was different to be inside. It reminded her more of Saint Mungo's than anything; it was well-kept and pretty sterile, really, although she supposed that was a good thing if she was going to be stuck with a bunch of needles. The medical element of it hadn't really dawned on her until she had seen it for herself.
Idris pulled a curtain around the area in which everything was set up, which made Camila feel better from a privacy standpoint, just because she didn't want anything to happen. The placement of her tattoo was going to be on the back of her left shoulder, towards the top of her shoulder blade. She knew that she could have done a lot worse in terms of where the tattoo would go and maintaining decency, but it wasn't even that large of a tattoo: just the words "siempre y para siempre" ("always and forever" in Spanish) in a relatively dainty cursive script. Still, Idris reminded her that she would need to expose the area where the tattoo would be.
Luckily, that time of year was summer in Britain, so it didn't require too much effort from Camila to get to that point. As it was, she had on a tank top, though Idris also informed her that he had some sort of privacy cover available if she wanted it. Camila shook her head. "It's okay," she assured him, sitting down upon the edge of the chair and placing her purse at her feet where she could still see it. With the curtain already around Idris's station, she wasn't very concerned. She just had to make sure that there were no straps in his way, and she realized then that her hair would probably be an impediment if she didn't put it up, too.
Before she had even adjusted her clothing, then, Camila grabbed the elastic band off of her wrist and brought her hair up into some semblance of a bun towards the top of her head, realizing that even a ponytail would probably be annoying to work with from Idris's standpoint. On that note, not wanting to do anything to make his job more difficult when he was about to be responsible for inking a permanent design into her skin, Camila glanced over at him. "How should I… sit?" she asked, trying to determine how best to position herself.

The paperwork that he gave the woman was standard. It covered mostly liability, promising they were of a legal age and that the client would pay them after the product was completed. While tattooing was relatively safe, there was always at least some risk. Mystery Ink, as well as Idris prided himself in having quite a hygienically clean work station. The business was brightly lit and looked like quite a classy place. Not really a fit for the normally rough werewolf. But it was a good job, and he was grateful for it, even growing to adore his career. And it paid alright too. The woman took the standard paperwork and started looking over it. "Let me know if you have any questions." He offered. Maybe a little late. Normally that line was given when the paperwork was first delivered to the client. Customer service wasn't his strong suit, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. He usually got there, eventually. His true talent came in the actual tattooing. The girl worked through the paperwork
He waited for the girl to fill everything out. It was nice to have the girl read through everything. As she reviewed the document, she signed and filled it out. and in time, she handed the paperwork back to him. The man gave a quick scan of the documents and set them aside to be filed either by the girl, or by the receptionist later. Honestly, he might do it if they were still there once he was done. Putting it down, he led her to his station. Once they were in, he pulled a curtain around, it was meant for privacy. He didn't always use it. But he figured, at least this girl was some big shot singer or whatever, so she would probably appreciate having some privacy as her back shoulder was tattooed. He didn't anticipate that it would take too long, seeing as the design was simple enough. The first thing that she needed to do was to expose the area. How she did that was up to her. He nodded as the girl said that she wouldn't need one.
He let the girl sit down, and watched as she pulled up her hair first. Long was easily pulled to the side or up, but he appreciated the thought of pulling her hair up into a bun so that he wouldn't have to worry about it during the process. She asked how she should sit, and he smiled a bit. "Most people find it best if they turn this way," He motioned so that her front would face the padded arm. "and you can hug or lean against the padding. But whatever you find is most comfortable. You'll be sitting in that position for a while. I'll give you breaks if you need." Idris sat on his stool, and grabbed a paper that had been sent to him previously, containing the design. He rolled so that he was in front of her and showed her the design. "Because this is wording, I want you to look it over one final time and confirm the look, and most importantly the spelling." He realized it was in another language, which he didn't speak. Honestly, he didn't care what it said. But their had been plenty of people coming in wanting a word of symbol that meant something, only to find out that what was tattooed actually meant something else. Checking right before the mark was made was Idris' way of waiving the blame from him to the client. It was their responsibility to know if it was correct or not.

July 8, 2026 Idris explained to her that most people preferred to sit a certain way, and he moved to illustrate the position that she would need to hold while he tattooed her shoulder. She would need to face the arm of the chair, Camila noted, and it seemed slightly awkward. It was nothing that she couldn't handle, though, especially if she would be going through with getting an actual tattoo that wasn't just one of those things that looked a little bit like a sticker and could be applied with some water. She would be sitting like that for a while, Idris added on, though he said that he would give her breaks in between if she needed them.
Was getting tattooed really so bad that people had to take breaks while getting it done? Camila felt lucky that she hadn't been drawn to something more elaborate than just the script as her first tattoo. She couldn't imagine how long it had to take to tattoo someone really heavily, like where they had part or all of an arm or a leg covered in artwork like a sleeve. That definitely had to hurt, too, Camila considered; it wasn't just grabbing some ink and brushing it onto somebody's skin like an ordinary canvas until it looked presentable. All of those lines and colors were from needles.
Camila positioned herself in the chair as Idris advised her to sit, making sure that the area that was going to be tattooed was free of any obstructions once she had gotten into place. Idris, too, sat down—on a stool nearby where she was seated—and got out a piece of what looked like ordinary paper with the wording that she wanted printed on it in such a way that it looked messed up at first, but only until Camila remembered that it would be going on her back to serve as a reference for what Idris would be inking into her skin.
He moved on his stool so that he was in front of her and spoke more intently. "Because this is wording," he told her, "I want you to look it over one final time and confirm the look, and most importantly the spelling."
Camila understood, and she appreciated that he was checking with her before she had something completely different written on the back of her shoulder than what she planned to have tattooed there, especially since the location was one that she wouldn't be able to see for herself as easily as, say, her wrist. It was intentional on her part, though. She didn't want anything ridiculous for a first tattoo, and she wanted it somewhere that could be covered by her clothing without much effort. If anyone had a problem with her getting a tattoo, in other words, they wouldn't have to see it.
She looked over the design that Idris presented to her a few times, paranoid that she could have missed something that would then lead the media to wonder how drunk she must have been to agree to that tattoo. Fortunately, there were no problems with it. "Yes," Camila confirmed verbally to Idris, taking in a breath as she tried to hide her nervousness that she was actually going through with getting a tattoo. "That is correct."

Helping clients who were getting their first tattoo was simply part of the job. Sure, Idris wasn't the best at it, but he enjoyed the work, so it wasn't bad to take some time to explain things. Luckily her first tattoo was small and while it would still take time, it wouldn't be as much of a time investment as, say a sleeve, or a full back tattoo. It also seemed as though she didn't want it enchanted. But still, it took time. Because of this, he was sure to explain that if she needed to take breaks, they could. Whether it was just to stop and stretch her legs, take a bathroom run, or anything else. He also knew that some people didn't like needs all that much. He had to take it easy when it came to first timers. There was no guarantee of how they would take to getting stabbed repetitively over the space of time.
The woman then took a seat, sure that the area she wanted the tattoo to be was exposed. That was when Idris sat on his stool, and pulled his supplies closer. First thing was first, he had to check that the spelling was correct. This was a common practice. Whenever there was any form of word or lettering in any language, he ensured that the spelling was correct. When he was dealing with symbols from other languages, he did the same thing. It was up to the one getting the tattoo to ensure that it was right. Even if it was in English, if they said it was spelled right, he would go with that, no matter what. The double check right before starting ensured that they agreed that what he was showing them was exactly what they wanted to get. It was a liability matter. Rolling to be in front of her, he ensured that the look and spelling was right.
He gave his client all the time she wanted to review the parchment he was showing her. This was something to take your time with, and not impulsively want to get on with the process. Those that did regularly regretted or were upset with their tattoo later. This girl seemed to be taking her time with the design. He was glad about that. This was her first, and he could assume that she had thought long and hard about this. He watched as her eyes moved over the words again and again. She carefully studied what was before her, and he patiently waited. Then, she confirmed that it was all correct. As he was good at reading people, he could tell that she was nervous about the process. Many first time clients were. He finally nodded and smiled. "Alright, we'll get started. Again, if you need to take a break for any reason, just let me know. Also, if your concerned about anything, don't hesitate to speak up." He said before rolling back around to his supplies and her back. Putting on a pair of gloves. He then started the process, first sure that the area didn't have any hairs on it, then he placed the parchment over the area, using a technique to transfer the designs temporarily onto her back.
Once he had done that, he set everything down, ripping off his gloves, he handed her a mirror, keeping one in his hand. "Alright, If you want to take a look and double check the placement." He said, holding up the mirror so that she would be able to see the temporary markings in the area that she had mentioned. Once she confirmed, then they could get started with tattooing her back.

July 8, 2026 Other than the fact that Mystery Ink Arts was right there in Diagon Alley, Camila hadn't completely known what to expect from the shop itself. Maybe she had been wrong to have the idea in her head that tattoo artists were totally unapproachable for someone who had never gotten a tattoo of their own before, but she had come in with that presumption. Maybe, too, that was because that was how people in her own industry could be. She supposed that tattoos couldn't be rushed out in quite the same way that a song could—though rushing, in either case, wasn't very good for the creative process or for the finished product.
Idris remained very welcoming, though, reminding her that she could take breaks if needed and saying that she didn't need to hesitate to speak up about anything if she had any concerns. She typically didn't have that opportunity in relation to her work. (Well, she could speak up, but that didn't mean that she was going to be listened to when it came down to it.)
Camila looked in the mirror, confirming the placement of the wording when prompted. It was an awkward angle to check, even with the assistance of a mirror, though she was satisfied that it wasn't in the wrong place or going to look odd where Idris had put it. "Yes," she nodded to him. "The placement is good. Thank you."

Idris would never consider himself to be particularly friendly. But while at work he was able to maintain a professional air about him. It was common for people who got tattoos to regular a specific shop, or even artist. It was beneficial for Idris to be on his best behavior while with a client. Sure, he wasn't as talkative as he would be with a friend, but he wasn't that talkative in the first place.
After confirming the location of the tattoo, it was time to get started. "Alright, I'll get started then." Turning, Idris grabbed the items he needed and started up the mechanic needle. Letting the sound run for a few moments before he began to trace the temporary marks he had made. He always waited a few breaths after turning it on. If someone was going to back out, this was their last time to do so.
He worked efficiently, tattooing the ink into the woman's skin, occasionally pulling away at the best time to wipe excess ink away. Words and phrases weren't his favorite thing to tattoo, but it helped pay the bills. Plus, small and simple tattoos were common for first timers. In time, he had finished. Switching off the needle, Idris set everything down, removing his gloves, and replacing them, he then softly rubbed some potion brewed ointment that was intended to help speed up the healing process. "Alright. We're all done." He stated as he discarded the new pair of gloves. "Did you want to take a look?"

July 8, 2026 Never having seen the full process of someone's having been tattooed before apart from the occasional post on social media where soapy skin was wiped off to reveal some intricate piece of artwork, Camila knew that she had to put her trust in Idris. Her skin was in his hands, and she had to wonder if it made him nervous to know that he was working on a famous client. The placement on her back meant that it could be easy enough to hide if something were to go wrong with the tattoo, not that Camila cared to entertain that idea.
Camila winced slightly at the feeling of the needles at first. The sensation wasn't that of a pinprick, as she had expected. It was different, almost like burning, but the vibration and buzz of the tattoo machine kept the stinging from being as noticeable. She tried to relax as much as she could so that she wouldn't create any problems for Idris, though she wondered if maybe she should have chosen somewhere else on her body to put her first tattoo.
It was too late for that, though, and she really didn't have any regrets. The pain wouldn't last. If she decided that she never wanted another tattoo after that, she wouldn't have to get one. The more she got used to the sensation, however, the more bearable it became.
When Idris announced that he was done and asked her if she wanted to take a look, Camila turned her head towards him and nodded. "Yes, please. I would like to see it," she told him, still not used to how her skin felt raw where she had just gotten tattooed.

Tattooing was a permanent process. That was something that the paperwork of the company took care of. Idris' job was to ensure that they got the best result possible. His hands were still, and his mind calm as he started. As he worked, he steadied his breath as to help him steadily move. He had been told that this woman was famous, and that was the main reason that he was the only artist to work with her. But he didn't actually care either way. As one in charge, it was up to him to show a good example for the younger employees.
The woman wincing as he started was normal, and he moved careful, as to ensure that any potential movement of her from the start wouldn't ruin the art he was creating on her body. The young man saw a number of reactions to starting their first tattoo, a small gasp was quite mild. Not many people thought of the pain, or perhaps they knew of the pain, but didn't fully realize it. After all, they were quite literally being stabbed with a needle many times per second.
After finishing it, she agreed to wanting to see the work he had done. He waved a wand, and mirrors flew up, one to the front of her and the other behind. She could adjust or grab the front mirror if she wanted, to get a different look, while he one behind levitated at just the right place. As he did, he started going over care of the tattoo. It was quite fresh, and needed to be taken care of.

July 8, 2026 Once she said that she would like to see her finished tattoo, Idris conjured up two mirrors for her with his wand. He moved one of the mirrors so that it was positioned in front of her, while the other one levitated behind her in such a way that she could look at the mirror in front of her and see her tattoo reflected in it. Camila was sort of amazed that it was really her skin that she was seeing in the mirror, even though she knew that it shouldn't have been surprising. She didn't regret it, and Idris's work was exactly what she'd wanted; it was just different.
Idris then began to explain the aftercare required for her tattoo, and Camila nodded as he spoke. She didn't think that what he was describing sounded too bad; she had already made it through getting the tattoo itself. Not running into any problems with its healing was undoubtedly important, though.
"The tattoo is perfect. Thank you, Idris," Camila commented when she was sure that she wouldn't be interrupting Idris's explanation of what she needed to do to care for her new tattoo.
