Mina bit down on her tongue. She’d said too much. Bran hadn’t known about Rue (though to be completely honest, she wasn’t sure how he hadn’t figured that out already). The two of them were always inseparable. Any business venture one of them delved into, the other did as well. That was just how things worked between them. Without Rue involved, Mina absolutely would not be able to smoke all of this. She also didn’t really have much business sense yet, letting her friend do all the talking. It probably worked out in their benefit to allow Bran a cut, only to diversify and make sure they didn’t lose it all should they end up caught. The odds of that were relatively high, in her opinion.
”Depends on how well we do. Obviously, we have our own cuts to take care of. We probably won’t have enough time to do too much before the end of the year…” Even with magic taking care a lot of the mundane issues involved, time was their biggest enemy. She and Rue graduated in June. Assuming they made it to that point. Her own grades were trash. Getting kicked out of Hogwarts was honestly more likely than graduating at this point. Mina had always assumed they would just pass her, that way they didn’t have to deal with her for another year on a repeat. Full on expulsion would solve that though.
She didn’t like the way Bran used Rue’s ‘nickname’, but nodded her head, nonetheless. There were unavoidable assumptions about both of them. Most were true, of course, like the bit about Rue’s proclivity towards potions and her own promiscuity. ”What’s it to you if Rue is involved? That’s not an issue is it?” Because if it was, she’d have to start exercising her memory modification charms about this encounter even happening.
