June 2026 Ginny had been taken aback, although she had been there for all of her kids during the upheaval, Teddy included, but there had been a split of sorts. Although not her child by blood, Ginny and Harry had taken Teddy in as their own in a way. Not exactly a brother, but a happy older cousins to their own children. They'd always been shipped him between their house and his Grandparents house. It had started a while ago, that Teddy had been pulling away from them, and from everyone. She had been surprised that he had reached out and actually wanted to see her, although she had been pleased. She had missed him, and although she had no idea how poorly he was doing, she couldn't wait to see him. Her office had been quiet for now, it was pre-season and although there was games going on, it was nothing too serious. It was easy enough to take the afternoon off, and this evening she'd busy herself and edit a few papers. It was easier to do that then sit alone listlessly in the house. She'd taken a table in the back of the Leaky Cauldron, and ordered herself a tea. She'd read the room before she launched onto Wine or Gin fishbowls. Now all she could do was wait on Teddy to show. @edward

never in a million years did he think the castle that he'd called home while he'd been a teenager would be gone now. he did figure that there were a lot of people who felt the exact same way. the castle had stood as a constant for so many people during years of turmoil, change and battles of great proportion. now it had been reduced to a pile of rubble, a pile of nothing, it was surreal to think that there would be no more first years walking through the doors in awe, at least not like the generations before had been able to experience.
he'd pretty much healed from the injuries he'd sustained the night it had fallen, though the scars he knew would never fade. he hid them as much as he could but he knew they were there, could feel the tightness in his shoulder, feel whatever he wore rub against it and he was reminded of the fact that they were there. he knew it would take some getting used to but that didn't mean he didn't hate them, hate what they reminded him off and while he could make them look like they weren't there, he knew.
he'd sent the message to ginny because he'd been missing his family more in the last few weeks than he could remember missing them before. the world might have changed when the castle fell but sometimes it still didn't feel like it was for the better. elaine was gone but that didn't mean things were better. not by a long shot. he knew the fracture in his relationship with the family that had chosen to love him was his own fault. he'd pulled away and hadn't really explained why, except in a heated discussion with harry that had been one of the last times he'd actually spoken to the man who had helped raise him. he'd been there when hermione had died, but when the dust had settled he'd pulled back again, withdrawing into the comfort of a bottle and strangers than his own family.
he walked into the cauldron, their agreed meeting place and instantly he felt something more relaxed than he had a moment ago. there was something that felt like home in a place he'd spent a lot of time in over his life. it was like an old friend. he spotted her sitting at a table and he crossed over to it, figuring he'd order a drink once he'd greeted her. "hi ginny." he said with a small smile as he slid into the table across from her. he did hope she couldn't see that the last few weeks had taken something of a toll on him, time off from work only gave him more time to indulge in his more than unhealthy coping mechanisms.

"Teddy!" When she first caught sight of him, she lit up. Happy to see her adopted...nephew(?) of sorts. It had been too long. "How are you love?" In the fall out of the drama with Harry, she had been focused on keeping her family together and keeping them all afloat. It had extended to Edward, just about, but he was slightly older and she felt he had his own path to take. Although she had hated it to a degree, she had stepped back left him alone to do that. Although now as she took in his shrunken appearance and the dark circles, she swallowed in silence. Maybe that hadn't been the best thing to do. He was smiling but she wasn't sure it was entirely organic. Letting her head tilt to the side, she became more serious as she surveyed him.
"Is everything ok Teddy?" Raising an eyebrow she gave him a second to answer, before realising maybe he didn't want to actually talk about it. Dropping her gaze she concentrated on taking a sip from her teacup. Maybe he didn't want to be watched.
A level of guilt began to seep in as she thought it over. Was this her fault? She'd been so good at keeping everything else together. Had Teddy slipped through the cracks? It pained her, but eventually all she uttered was.
"Well I hope you're okay anyway"
