September 1, 2026 So much had happened since she had last been at Ilvermorny that what should have felt to Chrissy like a homecoming didn't feel that way at all. When she had first come to Hogwarts a semester after most of the rest of the students who had transferred there from Ilvermorny, she hadn't liked it. She hadn't wanted to pick up her life again. Now, over a year later, she was back to feeling that same way about the very school she had left in the first place. Ilvermorny should have been familiar to her; it was her school, but it didn't feel like the same place she'd left.
As one of the students who had come to Hogwarts from Ilvermorny originally, Chrissy knew that she was expected to help the students who had come over from Hogwarts and were in the position that she had been in before, but it was harder than she thought. She didn't know how she was supposed to be enthusiastic about the new school year after so much more trauma and upheaval. On the bright side, she guessed that she wasn't the only one who had to take so many potions in a day just to feel "normal".
"…So, now that we're back in the Entrance Hall, this is the end of the tour, I guess?" she shrugged a little, looking to the group of new students for whom she had been assigned to be their "tour guide". "Again, um, I'm Chrissy, and I'm in Pukwudgie," she added, looking down and readjusting the gold Gordian Knot fastener on her blue school robes. Hers were new, too, the first set of Ilvermorny robes she'd had that hadn't been secondhand, and it felt sort of weird that she looked put together. It didn't feel like she was the same person at all.

▲ Ilvermorny was fascinating. Traveling to an entirely new country to go to school was fun! Biting her tongue the entire tour was not. There hadn’t even been an ounce of time to ask the questions that she had been dying to know the answers to, and with Lea in a different group than her, she basically had unrestricted access to ask whatever she wanted. That was because there was only one important question to her: where was the Quidditch pitch, how did she try out for a team, would there be teams comprised of Hogwarts students to play against the Ilvermorny students, where could she store her broom, and why hadn’t there been any questions from anyone else about this yet? Lyka had been bouncing with anticipation throughout the entirety of the tour, hoping it would be brought up at least once. Unless she had missed it, which absolutely would never happen. The mere mention of anything related to the sport drew her attention like a hound dog tracking a scent. Her ears were trained to seek out everything Quidditch. Otherwise what was there to do in life? Studying certainly had no value without the sport. School was basically useless at that point. “Hey! Cassie, I mean Chrissy, whatever,” Lyka threw her hand up in the air after she had already begun talking. She didn’t recognize the girl from Hogwarts at all, but who really cared about names unless it was on the back of a Quidditch jersey? “What about Quidditch?” A loud groan came from a fellow fifth year standing behind her. She shot him a dirty look over her shoulder before putting her hand back up, still not having been called on. “I’ve got a million questions, because I’m definitely not going to be playing Quadpot. It just seems way too barbaric with the ball exploding if you take too long.”@chrissy ● 313 ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

September 1, 2026 It was strange to be in charge of anything so serious, Chrissy thought. The closest that she had come was when she had helped with the haunted maze at Halloween—and it had been almost a year since then. Now, there were lots of other students looking to her for answers about what Ilvermorny was going to be like for them.
If there were any questions, she expected that they would be about where they could find things or if there were any shortcuts to get from class to class—the usual sorts of need-to-know tips. A girl whom Chrissy recognized as being younger than she from Hogwarts spoke up quickly, calling her "Cassie" at first. (She got it right on the second try, though, so that was close enough.) "What about Quidditch?" the girl wondered, raising her hand only once she'd started talking. It was enough to elicit some groans from the tour group. She had "a million questions", she said, because she didn't want to have to play Quodpot—the more popular sport in the States—as an alternative.
"Um, that's a really good question, but I'm probably not the best person to ask about sports?" Chrissy admitted, her hesitation at giving any definitive answers apparent as she stumbled over her words. "I'm not really sure how they're going to handle things this year," though it made sense to her that they would try to keep things as normal as possible for everyone. "Nobody's missed tryouts, though! So that's good!" She tried to keep her reply positive, at least, while she tried to come up with a solution. "Uh… What's your name, by the way? I can probably find out and get back to you…?"

▲ Not the best person to ask? Wasn't she a tour guide for the school? Weren't your guides supposed to know about everything they were giving a tour of? Lyka knew that if she were to give a tour of Hogwarts that she would never leave out the Quidditch Pitch or how one would go about joining a team or watching a match. Quidditch was essential to school in her opinion. Without it, there wasn't anything here for her. Her education was whatever, really. A Hogwarts degree wasn't necessarily needed to play or work for a team, she'd already checked. Now, playing for a house team definitely helped. There was no denying that. Scouts were always at matches and she figured she was pretty good at picking them out of the crowd. Usually they sat behind the goal posts, scribbling into the notebooks furiously whenever a superb play was made. Anyways, without any of that, how was she ever going to be seen? Having finally made it onto the team as a reserve, there most likely would have been a playing spot for her this year. That was basically always guaranteed by fifth year. Losing an entire year was absolutely going to hurt her chances. Adding to that, not everyone on the team ended up at Ilvermorny, so they couldn't even conduct a full team practice. But now that she was thinking about it again, a mismatch of players from each house could definitely work... In her self-absorbed thought process, she had already begun ignoring the tour guide, not noticing that she was still talking. The only bit that broke through the Quidditch concentration were the words 'missed' and 'tryouts' in succession; Lyka almost had a conniption as her brain short-circuited right then and there. "Lyka Malkin! I missed tryouts?" She failed to notice the other students around her sighing in disbelief over her mistake, instead covering her mouth to try and hide the look of horror that had come across it. September 1, 2026 Hearing that the girl, who introduced herself as Lyka Malkin, had begun to panic over the fact that she thought that she had said that she had missed tryouts, Chrissy jumped in. (Luckily, Lyka seemed to be the only one in the tour group who had misheard her. Trying to calm down a bunch of sports-hungry new students was not something that Chrissy thought she'd excel at doing, but she immediately spoke up to correct the younger girl.) "No, um… No one has missed tryouts," Chrissy reassured her, her voice a little louder. It was either that or having to deal with the first-year who had looked on in confusion—and probably amazement—that Lyka had actually said a four-letter word.
School hadn't been open for a whole day, and no one had been there for the previous two years. Even if tryouts were supposed to have been over the summer break, it's not like Ilvermorny would have been able to hold them—and it wouldn't have done them any good, either, since so many people were still figuring out moving to the United States after having been at Hogwarts. Whether other people were like her and had family closer to Hogwarts to begin with or if they had been taken back home immediately after the fire, it was too much of a mess for Ilvermorny to expect people to be ready for any sort of… anything.
"There's usually, like, posters and stuff around the school and everything," Chrissy added, trying to remain helpful. "But I'll check with Mr. Fontaine if I have to?" It wouldn't be that hard to go to the headmaster's office and check with him directly, though Chrissy didn't think that he really wanted to have people beating down his door, either.

▲ So did she miss tryouts or not? Because now she was getting conflicting information from the tour guide. Chrissy was sending her mixed signals about this and it was beyond frustrating. The lack of any other Hufflepuff Quidditch players in her group - or any house team members from what she could tell - was severely hampering her line of questioning. This whole interaction was making her out to be a crazy person, and the confused look that was playing across her face now certainly wasn't helping her case in the slightest. Murmurs between two Hufflepuffs behind her were audible in the silence between Lyka's question and the guide's response. The comment was about her 'Prattling on about Quidditch again,' and a return of 'If she'd just shut-up we could go to lunch.' She'd heard all of these things before, of course, but when it was loud enough for everyone to hear, it was actually embarrassing. She knew how her classmates viewed her interest in Quidditch. Only a few of them every returned the sentiment, and they were the ones that played and projected to go pro. Posters for tryouts were great and all, but what if she missed those as well? A general announcement in each house like at Hogwarts seemed simple enough to do. Or talking to this Mr. Fontaine fellow, whoever he was. She felt like she should've known that already, though he was honestly only important if Quidditch was involved in some manner. "Its ok," Lyka interjected. "If you could tell me where his office is, I'll just ask him myself. Pushing her way out of the center of the tour group (which was more like the parting of the seas because no one wanted to get in her way), she stopped in front of Chrissy. "That way if there isn't Quidditch planned for the year, I can discuss it with him in person. Right from the source, you know?"@chrissy ● 324 ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

September 1, 2026 Lyka spoke up again, saying that it was okay. Chrissy assumed that that would be the end of that and that her tour group could safely disperse so that they could go about the rest of their day, but she was mistaken there. Instead, Lyka began to push her way through to the front of the group so that they were face to face with one another.
"If you could tell me where his office is, I'll just ask him myself," she said stubbornly. "That way if there isn't Quidditch planned for the year, I can discuss it with him in person. Right from the source, you know?"
Chrissy was stunned. She wasn't trying to fight this younger girl at all; she was trying to be helpful and do her job as a tour guide. "I— I mentioned it on the tour already," she replied to Lyka quietly, hopeful that she could keep her from getting even more annoyed with her. She had no control over sports. She didn't even play a sport. "I mean, I don't know if we really have time to…"
Looking at the other kids in the tour group, Chrissy could tell that they were getting increasingly frustrated. There was no point in making everyone else stand there and wait for them to resolve the issue. "Um, if nobody else has any questions, you can go," she added to the group, and then she turned her attention to Lyka again.
"I really don't know anything about what they're doing with sports," she reiterated. "Don't hex the messenger. They just asked if I could show people around, so…"

▲ ...they had been shown where the office to this Mr. Fontaine was already? She didn't remember that happening on the tour at all. Then again, during the second half of it she had been more worried about getting her questions in about Quidditch. Anything could have been said and she wouldn't have heard or processed it. Blankly staring at Chrissy as the rest of the group started to grow restless over her line of questioning, Lyka realized that she was out of line. Everyone else was released from the tour but Lyka remained, averting the gazes of the rest of her Hogwarts classmates as they left. She especially didn't want to see the two that were whispering about her. Their anonymity was kept safe, and she knew it was her fault that she had held them all over this long. They were only being honest after all. She did talk about Quidditch too much sometimes. With everyone else gone, it was just her and Chrissy left. The other girl was telling her not to take it out on her, causing Lyka to chew on the inside of her cheek nervously. She knew she messed up by being aggressive over this. Chrissy even told her multiple times that she didn't know anything about the sports, reiterating it again right now. As much as she wanted to keep pestering the older girl, Lyka knew she had to stop now. She'd already made herself look stupid in front of the whole group and that was going to spread fast. Especially amongst the younger kids. Some of them had been aghast with her choice of words and inability to pay attention for one second. "I know, I know," she said quickly in response, mostly to get herself down off the ledge of anxiety she'd just put herself up on. "I'm sorry, it's just that Quidditch means everything to me and without it, I don't really know what to do." Was that too much? Her mum always said that she overshared with strangers, but no one had ever stopped her before. But this was Quidditch they were talking about, and she really needed to know what the deal was going to be for this year. @chrissy ● 370 ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

September 1, 2026 The rest of the tour group that she had shown around the school dispersed, and Chrissy was left to help Lyka as best she could with her Quidditch predicament. Chrissy knew that Lyka was more frustrated with the situation of being forced to go to a new school in a completely different country than she was angry at her for saying that she didn't really know what was going to happen with Quidditch, but it was also way too hard for Chrissy to deal with people when they were angry.
When Lyka told her that she knew not to get angry at her for being the bearer of potentially bad news, Chrissy hoped that she could get to a point where she could convince the younger girl to talk it over with the headmaster. (Taking it out on him, though, was probably an even worse idea.)
"I'm sorry," Lyka added. Chrissy, surprised by the apology, was almost certain that she had imagined it. "It's just that Quidditch means everything to me," the younger girl continued, proving that Chrissy hadn't been hearing things, "and without it, I don't really know what to do."
"It's okay," Chrissy replied, forgiving Lyka without hesitation. "I know it's weird being in new places and stuff," she told her, not elaborating that half the time had been because she had been shuffled from one foster home to the next. Apart from her time at Hogwarts, Ilvermorny had been the one stable thing she'd gotten before being adopted. "And I really don't think you're the only one who's wondering about Quidditch, but the teachers haven't mentioned anything about it to us yet. They're probably, like, trying to make sure that everyone's settling in okay." Unfortunately, that wasn't something that Chrissy had had much of at Hogwarts. After starting a semester later than the rest of the people who had come there from Ilvermorny and having to play catch-up, it hadn't been too fun. The least she could do was make sure that the Hogwarts kids they were now hosting didn't feel similarly lost.

▲ It sucked having a brain that functioned in only two states: Quidditch or nothing. When it was set to the latter, like right now, she get like a cornered animal. Being wildly out of her comfort zone, in a different country, and with little (absolutely zero) information on her favorite sport, she felt more than 'weird', as Chrissy the tour guide put it. Lyka had to take another deep breath to prevent the outburst that wanted to bubble up. Trying to convince the nothing brain that everything was fine was basically impossible, but she could prevent any collateral damage at the very least. Yelling and being hysterical like just a moment ago wasn't going to get her anywhere, and the reasonable part of her knew that. But Merlin this was starting to be such a let down. If there wasn't Quidditch, what was the point of caring about school? Plus she was going to be subjected to Quodpot and students playing that. Converting to the other sport was non-negotiable. Her Quidditch brain wouldn't allow it. Ever. Chrissy's words, while most likely true, weren't exactly what she wanted to hear. If Lea had said the same thing, which she was bound to do once Lyka spent the time to whine to her about all of this later on in the day, this conversation would have devolved into chaos. She was too old to throw a temper tantrum, yet could feel it edging it's way closer to the surface. "You'd think talking about clubs and sports would be one way to help make us comfortable," she stated rather indignantly. She shoved her hands tightly under her arms to keep them from flailing around again as she pouted. "Do you know when tryouts for that game usually happen?" Lyka asked, purposely avoiding saying Quodpot. "Not that I'll join it, but that would probably be when Quidditch would happen too." Sound reasoning for being confused still. @chrissy ● 322 ● Indigo Home by Roo Panes MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

September 1, 2026 "You'd think talking about clubs and sports would be one way to help make us comfortable," Lyka said, which wasn't untrue. They hadn't really communicated much information about clubs, either, since Ilvermorny had reopened, but it was probably hard for the school's administration to anticipate what the students would be interested in joining. Most people—but not everyone—had been at Hogwarts, so reforming clubs with students who hadn't graduated yet was probably part of the trouble there, in addition to securing faculty sponsors where needed. Lyka kept pouting, however. "Do you know when tryouts for that game usually happen?"She meant Quodpot, Chrissy assumed. "Not that I'll join it, but that would probably be when Quidditch would happen too."
Again, Chrissy didn't want to answer Lyka with certainty. She didn't know what their teachers had planned. "Um, soon-ish?" she replied. "They didn't really give us a handout with, like, dates for those things, but they probably should have…" Someone was probably responsible for putting that together and hadn't done it—or hadn't had time with all of the other preparations. This was Ilvermorny they were dealing with, luckily, and not MACUSA. "There's usually a clubs fair early in the fall where you can, like, go around and sign up for stuff," Chrissy added. "I'm guessing that some people will probably bring some of the clubs from Hogwarts over here, too, but most of them are essentially the same." Like at Hogwarts, there were clubs for different subjects, hobbies, sports, and identities.

▲ Her tour guide made it sound like the supposed clubs fair was where it all went down. And when everything started after. If - and that was a very tentative if - there was a Quidditch club, or going to be one at Ilvermorny, it was going to happen whenever the fair happened. Such a thing wouldn’t be too late into the term, would it? Chrissy said early fall. The first of September was early fall. This was the sort of thing that needed to be happening the second all the students got a chance to figure out their schedule and class locations. Like immediately and with advertising already up. She couldn’t be expected to get into the mood for school if extracurricular activities went on the backburner. Operating that way wasn’t going to go over well with a lot of the athletes. Lyka felt like she could speak for all of them on their behalf, even if they all wanted her to shut-up most of the time. She knew that Chrissy wasn’t really the one she needed to be putting all of her energy into and that it was Mr. Fontaine or whomever oversaw the clubs, but everything she had been give so far was basically useless. The one little bit of useful information came right at the end though: that most of the clubs at Ilvermorny were basically the same as what Hogwarts had. Unless the same meant Quidditch and the Game-That-Shall-Not-Be-Named. Because if that was the case then she was breaking out and taking the first flight or portkey home to Diagon Alley. Merlin this was stressful. Blowing out a long exhale, Lyka started to pace back and forth in front of Chrissy, her hands still tucked under her arms, head bent down so that she was staring at her feet. After a few back and forths (and getting tired of staring at the pattern on the floor), she stopped once again. “You said there’s an event where all of the clubs get together to try and find new members? If there isn’t a Quidditch club, would that be the best place to petition for one to get it going?”@chrissy ● 363 ● Eye of the Tiger by Survivor MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

September 1, 2026 It was plain to see from Lyka's huffing and puffing that she was trying her hardest at that point not to lose her temper over the lack of information about Quidditch in the tour of Ilvermorny that she had gotten. Chrissy watched her warily, preparing herself in case she got blown up at over something over which she had no control. She wasn't even on the student council.
Although she thought for certain that she was going to be yelled at by the younger girl, even after she had already apologized once for reacting so strongly about Quidditch, Lyka remained about as calm as Chrissy could hope for her to be. "You said there's an event where all of the clubs get together to try and find new members?" she asked, at which Chrissy bobbed her head in the affirmative. "If there isn't a Quidditch club, would that be the best place to petition for one to get it going?"
"Yeah, for sure," Chrissy agreed with a smile. "I know people have made petitions here for clubs and stuff before." It was a pretty common occurrence, actually. If students felt that there was some sort of injustice done in some way, then there was a good chance that there would be a petition in relation to it. There were the more serious petitions, and then there were the more trivial ones. As Chrissy recalled, there had been one a few years prior to start Taco Tuesdays in the Dining Hall. That one had been very popular with the students who had signed it, but the administration had been less thrilled about the idea.

▲ Everything about this was frustrating, but it seemed like there was a possible way to achieve her goal. Real hard emphasis on the possible. She didn't know who she needed to talk to or what she actually needed to do, but at least there was a lead. The next step was going to the Headmaster, or whatever he was called here. Supposedly they had advisors that were also professors and they were supposed to meet them later, so that was another adult to turn to for information. The fact that Chrissy knew of instances where students had made petitions for clubs and other things gave her more hope than she was expecting. Lyka wanted to know now though, and that was sort of where this was a problem for her. Flexing her jaw for a few moments as she tried to figure out her game plan, she didn't realize how intensely she'd been staring at her guide. "Sorry for being difficult and not paying attention on the tour..." Lyka admitted. Because of her idiocy, she'd only noted a few important places, like where to eat and where she was supposedly living for the remainder of the year. Now all she wanted to do was find her sister so that she could continue to complain. Lea would let her talk her ear off if given the chance. She had no idea if her sister's tour group was ending around now or where she would be, as they had planned to not meet up again until dinner. Which was a stupid idea now that she thought about it, because she needed her now. "I guess I'll figure it out over the next couple of days." With nothing she could immediately do to solve the issue, she felt extremely deflated. "I'll uhh...thanks," Lyka added awkwardly as she started to leave. What else was she supposed to say? That she'd see Chrissy around? The girl probably wanted nothing to do with her after this, and Lyka wouldn't blame her at all. @chrissy ● 337 ● Song by Artist MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0
