Ginny had been cooking up a storm for the day. For a difference she had decided to morph one of their monthly get togethers and double it up with Christmas Day dinner. Armed with a book of tips and recipes from her Mother she had done pretty well. Of course she had always assisted in cooking Christmas day dinner at Molly & Arthur's, but she had never undertaken such a big thing all by herself. Used to cooking and assisting her mother in making quite large portions, she had not held back and cooked for a small army. Of course she had encouraged her children to bring home any waifs and strays that they liked, so it would of course be eaten and with some luck herself and Harry wouldn't be having turkey curry till New Years Eve. Ginny was always pleased to have people crash their family gatherings, happy to meet her children's friends, and slightly intrigued to see if any of them would bring home any sort of romantic interests. The more waifs and strays the merrier; sure even Harry had been one at some stage to her own family's holidays. That was another thing that was rattling her somewhat; Harry. There had been one slip up in her judgement not long after their November Dinner, and everything since then had been downhill. Not that she minded all that much. In reality she was rather loving the whole thing of being utterly in love with Harry Potter again, sneaking around and staying in the tiny bedroom above the pub made her feel like some twenty something year old again. But then there were the kids. Yes, while they were adults now and would likely be more than happy about it, she wasn't quite sure how to face it, or tell them what had been on her mind about him moving back in to their family home. Pursing her lips together to both spread the red paint on her lips, and quash any uneasy thoughts she had she paused and slid her feet out of the comfy slippers and into the nude heels that went with her vintage 1940's navy dress. With a last longing look at the comfy slippers, she closed the bedroom door and cursed herself for being more like her mother more and more each day. Once she had come downstairs, she gave one quick glance around the kitchen and over the nicely decorated table that separated the living room area from the kitchen; hopefully it would all go well. Eyes flickering to the clock on the wall, she pushed her lips together again. One thirty. She told them all to come any time from two pm onwards, and they'd sit down to dinner at about three pm. It seemed reasonable enough, and everything in the kitchen was ticking along nicely and with a little magical help would be all ready to go for their arrival. With time to now kill, she paused, wondering whether she should open a bottle of her favourite white, or start on the mulled wine boiling away on the stove. Either would be good, and may be just enough to quell her mood. HARRY JAMES POTTER lily luna potter Albus Severus Potter james sirius potter

The time that Harry had spent with Ginny in the past month served only as a reminder as to why he had fallen in love with her in the first place. Her spirit, her decisiveness, her ability to call out trouble as she saw it. The mischievous set to her smirk, the delighted twinkle in her eye. Though they had been through much the past year or so, Harry found himself completely smitten. Almost like when he'd been a teenager. Thankfully, the monster within him hadn't awoken again, but Ginny still had that inexplicable draw to her.
Harry and Ginny hadn't had one of those official chats regarding the status of their marriage, or even their relationship in general. It was like they were existing in their own bubble outside time and space, in which it was just the two of them. Harry had been spending more and more time at home, to his own delight considering it was actually his.
Christmas morning had been spent nursing a spectacular hangover from the party the night before. Harry had forgotten how good at hosting Ginny was. And today, they would have their Christmas meal, just the family (and those considered family). Ginny was much better at functioning after drinking, perhaps from her Quidditch days, and was up and about from the morning. It was half past one by the time Harry managed to clean himself up and make himself presentable, before he trotted down the stairs into the kitchen. Ginny was, predictably, pottering away at the stove, looking stunning as usual in a vintage navy dress. "Hi," said Harry at once, his cheeks colouring like a schoolboy. "Shall we open a bottle? Hair of the dog?" asked Harry after a moment. He stepped towards Ginny and wrapped an arm around her slim waist, pressing a feather light kiss to her cheek. "You look beautiful," said Harry.

Growing closer with Harry again had been wonderful. Bit by bit she'd fallen back in love with him, and brick by brick that wall that had separated them for the last year. Hearing the stairs creak, she assumed Harry was following her downstairs now. Once she was sure the kids had gone their separate ways after the party last night and none of them were home, she'd happily fallen into bed with him. The feast of alcohol they had shared had helped of course, especially as they had kept drinking even when they had gotten back to the house. With a small smile, she gave another look to the food ticking away in the kitchen before turning to greet Harry from across the room with an almost shy smile for, well, no reason at all. "Hi...."She'd left him in bed, snoring away, while she had gone to get ready. Of course her head had hurt when she got up, and her stomach was somewhat unsettled, but after a mix of potions in the bathroom and her shower she had shaken herself up pretty easily. Ginny had always dealt with her hangovers much better than Harry had, Christmas was no different. While she had gotten up to try and bring it all together, and mull over what she was going to tell the kids later. That was still a point of contention that went unsaid between them both. She knew Harry felt they should just carry on like nothing had happened, whereas Ginny wanted to talk about it with the kids a little at least. With a half laugh under her breath, she scolded herself. They weren't kids anymore. Even if some of them acted it still, they were grown now with their own problems. Her mind didn't sit on that point too long as she felt Harry's arms envelope her and plant his lips to her cheek. It made her unassuming smile only grow wider and she let her head lean into him with a quiet sigh of contentment. "Well.." she mumbled to begin, she didn't pull away from him straight away. She was enjoying the closeness. Although they had reserved themselves at the party last night, she wasn't sure any of the kids hadn't exactly picked up something had been going on with them. Nibbling on her lip just slightly at the thought of it she continued, trying to brush the thought off "I was going to make some mulled wine that everyone could have when they arrived, but whatever works yeah"

Waking up in the bed he shared with Ginny, the one they had spent hours bickering about (he wanted a soft mattress whilst she had wanted something firmer) had been like waking up to paradise. Except for the fact that Harry's head had been pounding and Ginny wasn't there. No doubt she was preparing the meal for later - Harry ashamedly could not help much there. The pair had slunk suspiciously from the party last night after exchanging longing stares. The truth was, they couldn't resist one another. They'd known one another for so long, loved each other for so long, that even with the gaping chasm between them, they would unwittingly fight to be by the other's side.
At long last, Harry managed to make himself more presentable. He knocked back a pepper-up potion, and dressed, ignoring the copious steam that issued from his ears. By the time he trotted down the stairs, the steaming had stopped and he was feeling marginally better. As he had suspected, Ginny stood at the counter looking stunning in a navy dress. Harry nearly lost his breath and his footing, but recovered smoothly and was at her side in an instant. He wrapped an arm around her waist and kissed her on her cheek, breathing a greeting into her soft skin.
Ginny leaned in to Harry, mumbling a response about mulled wine. Harry said nothing for a moment, instead letting her closeness wash over him. His other arm wrapped around her, bringing his wife close to him as he inhaled deeply. They were back in that bubble, the one that existed outside time and space and only with the two of them. "We could," murmured Harry, tilting his head downwards to catch Ginny's gaze. "But on second thought, I've come up with something better." He leaned down and kissed her soundly on the lips, blissfully unaware that their moment was soon to come to an abrupt end.

THE BOTTLE OF FIZZ IN ALBUS'S HAND HISSED as he landed with a crack on his quaint home street. On his back was the last shreds of his clothes from Rosie's, the rucksack deceptively light given the charmed depths of it. In his other hand was a artfully designed pastry box with twelve treacle tarts glistening through the plastic window on the top. Truly, it was a feat of great personal willpower that he hadn't eaten half a dozen before he'd arrived back at the Potter home.
Albus was internally grumbling about his own generosity as he carefully opened the front door of his childhood home, and shucked his rucksack off quietly. Albus had a way of moving in unsettling silence, whether it be from a lifetime of creeping under an invisible cloak, or his training at the Ministry. He moved like a ghost, toeing off his trainers and prying the pastry box open simultaneously so that he could grab a tart from within. It was hanging halfway out of his mouth as he entered the kitchen, the bottle of fizz shaken to death as he bit down and looked up.
Eyes assaulted, Albus's socked feet skidded on the tiled flooring as he caught his mum and dad in an embrace. Their lips mashed together uncomfortably, arms tangled like a many limbed giant squid. Albus had seen some gruesome sights in his life - a couple of dead bodies even. He'd rather have watched a curse turn him inside out than ever see such a thing ever again.
"Ugh," Albus gargled in shock, half of the treacle tart dropping from his mouth as he averted his gaze all at once. It wasn't a surprise, really. Everybody with a set of eyes had seen how the infamous Potter's had begun to gravitate towards one and other again. His mum had gone from tutting about his dad, to a very telling silence on any topic involving her estranged husband. Albus could have predicted this turn of events without the Auror badge.
Tossing the box of treacle tarts on the nearest counter, he set the bottle of booze on the ground and turned his back immediately without a single opinionated word. His expression said it all, crumpled in disgust and horror, crumbs clinging to the corners of his mouth. Had it not been full of the exceptional baked good, he might have actually screamed. Chewing reflexively, his shoulders were tense as he retraced his steps out of the kitchen in a hurry. "- my room..." Is all he managed in stiff explanation, shivering as the image razed his immediate memory. 'Why was always the first to arrive!'

With Harry's breath on her neck, and whisper in her ear all she could do for a moment was giggle breathlessly. It was ridiculous how much he made he feel like a teenager again. Falling in love all over again had happened a bit too quick for her liking in some respects, and yet it was making her ridiculously happy again. Ginny glowed like a giddy lovestruck school girl, and she was getting worse at hiding it. Being back in this little bubble was delicious, and yet there was the real world on the outside still. This time all together even bigger than it had been once upon a time; this time it included their grown kids. At times she worried about them and their reaction to their parents creeping around like teenagers again. It was embarrassing really, and yet sometimes she didn't care. This was one of the times she felt torn. While she was enjoying the closeness Harry had drawn her into, she was acutely aware the kids could arrive at any moment, even if they weren't due for a half an hour or so. It wasn't like they kept time to a T. Still, she returned her husbands kiss, giggling against his lips. She supposed his offer did sound pretty enticing. She'd been thinking it over, too lost in his eyes to hear the click or bang of the front door. When Albus entered she hadn't heard him creeping through the house until "Ugh," the groan dripped with disgust and caused her to jump back from Harry fair lively. Eyes wide, she stood like a Deer just caught by the hunter. Caught. Oops. Albus' expression of complete revulsion, caused her own stomach to start doing flips. "No...Albie!" calling after him at his retreating back, her voice was filled with guilt and a level of desperation. Of all of the three to catch them, Albus was the worst that could have. Truly a car crash. He was gone, scarpered just as quickly as he had entered. Biting down on her lip, she turned to Harry for a split second, biting down on her lip deeply. "Well shit. Not how I wanted that to happen.."

Ginny's floral scent wrapped around Harry, intoxicating him as if he had ingested a whole cauldron-full of Amortentia. He didn't want to hold back, to tread carefully as Ginny had been insisting these past months. So when he captured her perfect mouth in a kiss, Harry let himself go, pouring all the emotion that raged within him into her lips. The moment was shattered when there was a skidding sound and a grunt of disgust. So enraptured by Ginny, it took Harry a moment to realise that they were not alone.
Harry turned his thunderous gaze to the intruder, his hand halfway to the wand that stuck out of his back pocket. But the moment of alarm passed, and Harry's glare turned into a frown of distaste. Of course, Albus would be the one to walk in just when things were about to get interesting. What Harry would have done with another hour - hell, even ten minutes would have done - alone with his wife. Albus turned tail and retreated, no doubt to report his findings to his brother and sister who were much more informed than he.
Running a hand through his untidy hair, Harry let out a grunt of impatience. "Well, it's done now," said Harry, rather more sharply than he had meant. The beginnings of a migraine were starting to creep into his consciousness. "He's a grown adult. He can handle a married couple kissing. We've done enough to shelter him," he snapped. There was just some way that Albus always managed to get under his skin. How he picked apart all the horrible things Harry had said and done and forgot about the good. Albus was a master of the unkind and unforgiving, and his mother had always catered to his gloomy will.

▲ Leaving the hotel for werewolves Christmas morning wasn’t something Lily had anticipated happening years earlier when she’d convinced Adrian to bite her. Being out of commission once per month on the fool moon hadn’t crossed her mind as being the sort of thing that was inconvenient. Until it fell on a Christmas Eve when her parents were throwing a big bash. She hadn’t even considered it until a few days before when the tell-tale flu-like feelings of the waxing werewolf started to rear their ugly head and she had to drink her Wolfsbane potion. Needless to say, that was a heartbreaking revelation and all of the friends she had invited to the party were now going to be without her presence. Not that the hotel hadn’t done its best to bring in the holiday spirit, an oversized tree in its lobby, adorned with red and gold bulb ornaments. The tree was there every year and never seemed to lose its charm. Waking up in her reinforced room beat the alternative of course, but the somber mood of the lobby as she left was palpable. Now all of the werewolves had to travel home, and she could understand how the older ones with families probably felt right about now. Reviving in the morning after a turn wasn’t always instant and natural like it was for a normal person. She had struggled plenty of times with getting out of her bed, and the sluggish weight of the wolf was definitely in effect today. All she wanted was to eat and lay around the rest of the day, which beat feeling sick like some did. Disapparating back to Godric’s Hollow and home, Lily pushed the front door open just in time to see Albus storming out of the kitchen. Nothing new there, really. If she wasn’t starved right now she would probably hunt him down and try to pry into whatever was making him look like he’d just had a Mimbulus mimbletonia expel all of its stinksap into his face. She’d learned about that plant just the other day while bothering the lady at the florist in Horizont Alley on her lunch break. If Lily had been quicker, she would have bought it for Albus as a Christmas present. That also meant bringing it into the house, and knowing what it could do, she wasn’t keen on ruining the entire day for the rest of the family. “Did he finally just find out St. Nick isn’t real or something?” Lily asked her parents as she stepped into the kitchen slowly, afraid that there could maybe be some sort of spill. Considering she’d only just arrived in the house, the odds of that were infinitely smaller. “Merry-” she added, a yawn intervening between. "…Christmas."MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Chewing the inside of her cheek, Ginny's brow furrowed. She wasn't quite sure how she would have approached it, (and wasn't that the reason she hadn't told the kids?), but she knew she didn't want it to be like that. The guilt of hiding it for the past month or so had finally bubbled up and a pretty much instant wave of nausea had hit her. She had placed a hand to her throat and was about to step away from Harry to get a drink of water to try and help it before the others arrived, but as he began to open his mouth he pretty much repelled her away himself. Narrowing her eyes to glare icily at him, she stepped back and leant against the counter where the sink was. An icy deluge hitting down her throat to settle in her stomach and make the sicky feeling worse. Harry's words stung, but what hurt more was his tone. The way he snapped struck her right in the chest, making her feel winded. She certainly wasn't used to that. As she drew a breath, stupidly she felt tears prickle at the edge of her brown eyes. "Prick" she venomously spat under her breath as she side stepped, closing her eyes for a split second long enough just to push back the tears. She wasn't quite sure what had hit her hard enough to make her want to cry, she was better than that, stronger. But something had snapped in her emotionally right then, something enough to bring them on. Brushing past Harry with a purposeful aggression, she stopped rather abruptly at the sight of Lily entering the Kitchen. The knots in her stomach began to tighten, it wasn't just Albus she sheltered. "Lily Darling" Plastering a wide smile on at the presence of her only daughter's sleepy frame, she stepped forward to wrap her arms tightly around her. It was probably a little tighter than she usually hugged her children in some subconscious effort to self soothe and try and smooth over her emotions, but she could probably pass it off as just feeling festive or some nonsense like that. "Happy Christmas. Are you feeling okay? Did you get enough rest? Do you want something to eat? Come on through.." stepping back and dropping her arms she gave her another smiling and paused only to grab her hand and lead her into the living room to leave Harry behind in the kitchen. lily luna potterHARRY JAMES POTTER Albus Severus Potter

Maybe I'm just too demanding Maybe I'm just like my father: too bold James yawned as he walked down the stairs in Number Twelve. He honestly didn’t know what time he had gotten home, there had been quite a bit of whiskey and other things throughout the night, but it had been overall enjoyable. Ariadne had been called into work early, though James hoped to see her at dinner with his family later. One of the portraits made a snarky comment regarding his hair as he walked past them, and James looked back with a raised eyebrow. The old man quickly acted as though business as usual, though James had heard him loud and clear.
There was a mirror near the bottom of the staircase, and James realized his hair was messy. Which meant that it made his normal hair look tame by comparison. He desperately tried to flatten it down as he stepped into the bathroom with better lighting and a larger mirror. It seemed that not even a shower could tame it—maybe one of his cousins had pranked him, and he simply didn’t remember. James glanced at his phone with a frustrated sigh. He was already running late and didn’t want to hear a lecture on punctuality from his brother.
Between the hangover and exhaustion in his face, his hair probably fit right in. James stepped outside and walked a few steps to apparate before the cold could numb his nose. As he appeared and entered his parent’s home, he saw many shoes by the entrance, and he could hear his mother’s voice. He was the last to arrive and late. He stepped into the kitchen as a habit, though only found his father, who had a rather peculiar expression on his face. ”…What did I miss?”

Ginny's reaction took Harry by surprise, though upon reflection, it shouldn't have. After all, Ginny had always been a doormat for their youngest son. Harry clenched his teeth as she brushed past him, her icy glare lighting the anger that bubbled within him. Lily finally appeared, her lean form ragged - Harry knew because of last night's full moon - and only that gave Ginny pause. His wife checked over their only daughter, and Harry could do nothing but watch. "Do you need -" began Harry, but Ginny shuffled Lily out of the room, leaving him on his own.
Merlin. All this because Albus had walked in on Harry kissing Ginny. Hadn't he done enough to pay back at least somewhat the wrongs he'd done? Didn't he deserve even a modicum of credit for doing everything in his power to keep his family safe? How many times would he have to grovel and apologise for leaving the family for their own sake. He knew in hindsight he was wrong, but terror had ruled his previous decision. It had been a year now, and still he couldn't be forgiven. Harry rubbed his aching temples, fury and desperation mixing within him to form a toxic composition.
It was in this state that James walked in to find him. Harry looked up at his eldest son - the one so often overlooked, but who constantly bore the heaviest weight. Harry thought about waving it off, telling James it was nothing. But James had proven time and time again that he, like his father, sought to work for the greater good. Unlike his other son, who had shaped up to be more trouble than he was worth. "Your brother is incensed that your mother and I are getting along better again," Harry said, exhaling sharply. "Now she's mad at me because I'm tired of coddling him" He regarded James with a grim expression. "Not the best start to the family meal, I suppose. Drink? Maybe firewhisky will get us through this night in one piece."

▲ Her tired brain, usually running at over one-hundred percent because of sugar and caffeine, could barely catch up to everything happening in front of her. The way she was whisked away from the kitchen by her mother before she could fully comprehend what her dad was saying, which had swiftly followed Al’s temper tantrum, was more than enough to leave her confused. And still very, very hungry. Lily didn’t need her sense of smell from the werewolf to know that there was food only a mere couple of feet away from her being prepped, and her stomach ached for it. The barrier was her mum, of course, who had smothered her in a hug the second she attempted to step into the kitchen. The flurry of questions that followed didn’t help her stunned moment, still caught in the middle of her yawned ‘Merry Christmas’. She could barely turn her head to see James coming in the front door while she was held tightly, not sure which question her mum wanted to answer first. “Same as always, mum,” she said with an exhausted exhalation. “Should be easier once I can get Aware Wolf every month.” She’d forgotten about it because it was so new still, having grabbed the old Wolfsbane potion that was required in the days leading up to the full moon. While it was confirmed to work, there was still the anxiety of not having to take the multiple doses the week prior. She would be safe inside the hotel if it failed and she went berserk, but that fear still gnawed away at her. Similarly to how her stomach was now screaming at her to get food. “I haven’t eaten yet,” Lily added as she was finally released from her mother’s grasp, though her hand was still being held. At least she felt less smothered. Normally she would have jumped straight into the kitchen from the front door. Not today. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOX 2.0

Ginny hadn't heard james sirius potter make an entrance to their family home, nor had she caught the explanation Harry had given him for the sudden shift in mood in the house. She had been too busy faffing over her youngest child, her only daughter. Planting them both on the couch and settling in for a rest. Or trying to anyway. Ginny didn't pause to explain what Lily had walked into. She supposed it worked to her advantage that her daughter was wrecked and dog-tired. One she had Lily sitting on the couch, she nodded quietly and smile sympathetically. She had never gone through a transformation herself, obviously, but she had heard enough about them to know it wasn't easy. At the mention of the new treatment, she nodded and gave a wider smile. " Yes, I was reading about that the other day love. It seems to be working wonders." after a quiet pause she hesitated before going on. "Never in my lifetime did I think I'd see.... well not a cure...but a breakthrough like this. It's wonderful really, isn't it?" With another sad smile, it took her a moment to shake away her thoughts about the Werewolves that went before Lily, and how they could have benefited. Pressing herself, she smoothed down some of her hair again and squeezed Lily's hands before standing and moving towards the kitchen with purpose again. "I'll get you something. Nothing major, I don't want to ruin your dinner, but something to tide you over.."
Stepping into the kitchen again, she pointedly averted her gaze from Harry's direction. The mix of emotions now taking over were making her head swim and she was finding it difficult to keep herself above the water. Instead she gave James a wide smile. "James darling, good to see you finally" With a smirk towards his messy hair, she was reminded of how much fun he seemed to be having the night before. "You seemed to have fun last night." She moved swiftly as she spoke, throwing together a sandwich for Lily as she watched her oldest here and there, still ignoring her husband out of fear she'd all fall apart again. "Good.." She finally added in a softer, more genuine tone, finishing up the sandwich she made Lily a quick cup of tea and lifted the plate and cup in each hand. "Your sisters here already. Come join us in the living room?" Arching an eyebrow she gave him a look over her shoulder before leaving him there with Harry to bring Lily her goodies. "James just arrived. You're all here now. Fantastic" She was smiling as she set the plate and mug down in front of Lily on the coffee table, but her voice was somewhat strained, knowing today might be difficult after the fuck up between her and Harry. But still, she'd try. She wanted to have them all together again for Christmas, so she'd keep trying to make things ok. For now, survivor mode would continue and she would just keep calm and carry on. lily luna potter HARRY JAMES POTTER Albus Severus Potter

ALBUS RETREATED TO HIS ROOM WITH HIS TAIL between his legs. He heard, more than he saw, his little sister entering the home at his back. Why couldn't it have been her?, he thought, to arrive promptly for once and catch the love birds trying to recapture their youth. He shivered in disgust, slamming his old bedroom door in such a familiar way, he felt the house ripple with nostalgia. Throwing his rucksack onto his bed, Albus slumped into his desk chair and ruminated for a good fifteen minutes.
Not only was Al back home, stuck in his childhood bedroom with the Slytherin bedspread, but his mum and dad were acting like a couple of teenagers. It all seemed a bit time-turn-y in his eyes, and he knocked a rhythmless tone on his old, stained wooden desk as he thought. What a sell-out his mum was, she'd been the only other person remotely angry at his dad's poor judgement. Truth was, Al hadn't planned to hate his father forever, just long enough for the sting of his absence to scab. But, the presence of every other person shoving his welcome down his throat made Al bitter. It made him a little bit insufferable.
With a long suffering sigh, Albus stood from his chair and took a quick glance around the familiar bedroom. The bedspread had to go, he decided as he left the room and made his way back down the stairs towards the kitchen. At least now there was James - bellowing as always; and Lily - shrill and talking a mile a minute, to act as a buffer between their sappy parents. Without announcement or fanfare, Albus entered the living room quietly and took the armchair by the fire with a huff. He'd heard the tail-end of the ensuing conversations, their mum desperately injecting normality into their small talk, as she often did.
"I know one of the potioneers bolstering Aware Wolf." Albus said on the end of a rough clearing of his throat. He pickled at a loose thread in the blanket slung over the old armchair. "She's really, very good." This, of course, was not something Albus would readily admit to the potioneer's sour looking face, but it was something he would use to split the silence between himself and his very stubborn family. And potions, well Albus could talk potions all damn day.

Maybe I'm just too demanding Maybe I'm just like my father: too bold To James’ surprise, his father answered honestly—very honestly. It took him a moment to process what he said as his brain had focused on particular words. ”Wait—you and mum…” He trailed off, almost not daring to ask the question as hope lit up his sleepy hazel eyes. But his father was still frustrated, though James didn’t have to think very hard about why if it involved Albus. For Al to have a very Albus-like reaction was like expecting the sun to rise in the morning—nobody was surprised.
James paused. He could understand Al’s frustration, but he had been in the same boat for many months. But, with some help, he’d managed to stop wallowing so much and just try to push through. If anyone should still be bitter about Harry returning, it was James—he had accepted it was mentally time to move on. And while he had kept his distance at first, James realized he wanted his family back, and this was a second chance that never happened. ”You should be worried the day he doesn’t get upset.” James remarked. But what Harry said was true—their mother did have a soft spot for her youngest son. But James didn’t comment as his brain finally caught up and began to wonder what exactly Albus had walked in on—James didn’t want to know.
”Sure.” James accepted the offer of whiskey. While it was early, there was a chance it would help the lingering headache that was somehow manifesting into even messier hair. Before James could ask more questions such as ‘when are you moving back in?’ his mother walked back into the kitchen. ”Merry Christmas, mum.” James walked over and gave her a big hug. Which was easy considering how he towered over her now. ”Did I? It's all a bit of a blur.” He admitted sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck as he responded. All that firewhiskey and whatever else was handed to him had all mixed together.
He glanced back at his father, trying to give him an encouraging smile. It was Christmas, after all, and Merlin knew they had all been through enough and should be so lucky they could all be in the same room now. Walking through the doorway, he spotted his sister and, to his surprise, his brother in a chair big enough to sulk in. ”Who’s very good?” James caught the tail end of the conversation. His eyebrow immediately went up in a curious expression. A name came to mind. Al had mentioned one before, but perhaps he’d save that for later.
