PERSONALITY independent, arrogant, classist, jealous, traditional, resourceful, sharp-tongued as a simple child, the eldest ollivander learned why being independent would be a vital trait to maintain. wand-making and being a mother proved the point that independence and being resourceful were the only important things that mattered in a common society. even though she once worked alongside her younger sister eleanor, veronica took most customer queries upon herself, believing things take time and efficiency. linking to her time in hogwarts as a ravenclaw student, with her skills improving and excelling each term, arrogance was one thing veronica developed. she was sure of her abilities and never shied away to prove it. often, the ollivander would confuse her arrogance for simple confidence, but no one had ever felt the need to correct her on it. it was the same mindset that led her to being a popular choice within the store over the apprentice that was her sister. being the first born, veronica experienced the traditional values of her parents at a closer hand in comparison to her siblings. it was the same values that she kept with her throughout her life despite the many changes around her, including the ultimate discovery of her younger brothers: galen's 'lack' of power - aka a squib. but being taught such a simple thing led to veronica picking up the trait of a classist, judging those who weren't purebloods, or those who didn't have some interest in the purity of blood. as a half-blood herself, she knew she had no true jurisdiction to judge others aside from the failure of her squib brother. her jealous nature stemmed from her youth, a time she specifically pins on the day of galen's birth. like other jealous beings with siblings, it stuck with veronica, a reminder that the attention she received shifted over to galen as he was the first son of the ollivander's. unlike her younger self, it's not as evident in the present day, aside from her small bitter moments with insecurity with her sons rebellious actions, including his later choice to study at ilvermorny. veronica is also described as a woman with a sharp tongue as well, known for her blunt honesty and harsh words. overall, to her siblings aside from her youngest brother, she's rather cold and heartless, refusing to conform to the impurity within the lineage of the ollivander line. to the public eye, veronica is a hardworking wand-maker and owner, popular for the attention she pays to each detail of each customer and the time spent on each custom design. HISTORY the first child of garth and clara ollivander had high expectations, even before her arrival into the world. her sex was expected to be the opposite of what she was, to be the male heir that would one day take over the family business that kept the family going for many generations. however, to the ollivanders disappointment, the first child was far from what they expected. nor that it truly mattered, as both ollivanders knew their first child simply wouldn't be their last. named veronica giselle ollivander, the first ollivander of the new generation, was taught to live a life of a traditionalist. to be prim and proper, following a certain etiquette that would shape her attitude later aspirations. five years as an only child was spent well, learning how to read and speak earlier than most children. even as the young ollivander continued to grow, veronica learned the importance of wand-making, learning the best cores to use with different woods, the overall process of creating wands while feeling nothing but joy as she would watch her father create wands. though, those five or so years alone felt rather short lived, as with her younger brother's birth came veronica's downfall. from birth he was given more attention than what she received, considering he was the son her parents originally wanted. the months that followed drawled out a negative personality, something that stuck by her to impact her personality as a whole, a simple spiral of hated for the person she called her younger sibling. life continued on however, introducing more ollivanders along the way and soon enough, veronica received her letter to enrol in Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. upon the first day of september, just shy after veronica's eleventh birthday, the ollivander was housed into what many know as ravenclaw, for her wit and intelligence. life within the school was exciting, a place to hide away from her brother and eventually the future siblings she didn't really...care for. though, the youngest ollivander was an exception. by galen's tenth birthday, fifteen year old veronica saw a change. their parents became weary, anxious with every second they heard some kind of noise by the front door, hoping for his hogwarts letter. days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and eventually the excitement for their first son to enrol soon died out, especially at the discovery that poor galen was indeed a squib. a dud in the magical realm. it was then she knew her potential, aside from the pressure that came of being the eldest and responsible child, had returned. the potential to one day drive and run the ollivander's business for another generation or so. especially since galen or..francis was simply a failure in veronica's eyes. although, during her time in Hogwarts, veronica's magic excelled in the way her parents hoped it would. non-verbal and wandless were her two best areas amongst the many other areas in magic a wizard or witch could excel in. which played to the ollivander's advantage with her future goal to become the best wand-maker within the family business. by the time she graduated from Hogwarts, with grades being nothing less than outstandings in all of her NEWTs, the eighteen year old had developed goals to set for herself as well as to please her parents. her father's retirement soon came along once the eldest ollivander's official presence in the store as an apprenctice was finally recognised. as years passed by she climbed the ranks, becoming the current owner of ollivanders. at her young age of adult-hood too, veronica had the plan to marry early, only to please her family more. as a young witch, interested in the social views of blood purity, the ollivander's type of ideal man was a pureblood, preferably a traditionalist like herself and interested in similar things. like most women sought to find in a man. by her nineteenth birthday after one trip to a fortune teller that most wizards claim to trust, veronica supposedly found love, with a pureblood who was just a few years older than herself and by april the following year, the two were married. to the public eye, her relationship with her newly husband would be deemed un-natural and too fast, but to her family, they were all simply pleased. though, around her twentieth birthday, pregnancy was the gift she received and welcomed, though the excitement was shared mainly between herself, her husband, her parents and her youngest sibling, considering the relationship or lack there of she had with both eleanor and galen. after giving birth, for what seemed to be a decade, veronica lived a simple life, her marriage simple and normalised like others, with its ups and downs, as well as the family business. her son blossomed in the best of ways, learning the same etiquette veronica was once taught as a child. her son was literally her own mini-ollivander. a perfect example of how all children should be. as the eldest Ollivander, she knew no means of communication was required with galen unless the occasion revolved around a major holiday to return home to the family manor, at least for the first few years after her graduation. the same was similar with eleanor, who seemed to be fond of galen's life as a squib. by eleanor's graduation, veronica knew their rocky relationship with one another would never change. like galen, veronica kept the third child of the ollivander's on a leash, an apprentice for seven years with no intention to ever promote her, or in other words challenge her position or the future of her son's store. she was completely cold and heartless towards both of them and she had no regrets for it. eleanor seemed to endure it though, and maintained the position long enough, until the younger ollivander herself was ready to leave. at first, it felt so sudden, not knowing exactly why her sister had given up such a 'comfortable' position, but it was when eleanor opened her own wand-making store that she realised exactly why. with years passing, veronica watched her own child and her youngest brother grow. when her son began his first year, veronica's youngest brother began his seventh and like a proud mother, the ollivander was proud of her brother and son continuing the magical lineage. but by the beginning of 2024, karma has its way to fight against her. alongside the events of students from hogwarts being killed, the initial destruction of ilvermorny and harry potters disappearance, the ups and downs of veronica's marriage took a turn, with truths being revealed. her husband, who claimed to be a pureblood for the many years they had been together was revealed to be a muggle-born. while there was no true harm aside from the lies, because of public appearances, veronica had no problem to rush into divorcing the man who had lied for too long. the last she had heard from him, he had joined the muggle army, following the footsteps of his grandfather who was once a general. as a single mother, life proved to be hard, while she was secretly fearful for her son's wellbeing, but veronica continued life like normal, as if her divorce wasn't recent, and allowed her daily duties to keep herself preoccupied. while competing against her sister's store for new cliental, veronica faced a few hardships as summer 2025 brought around hag's fever, resulting in travel restrictions across the nation. this worried the ollivander in regards to her parents, as they were in their elderly age - alone most times during the weeks. in the end, the eldest ollivander knew that her parents would be fine, even at their old age...while her teenaged son was the complete opposite. he wounded up in a fight with a slightly older student, resulting in the only black eye veronica was aware of. luckily, gideon found aid from another student, but that didn't stop veronica's instincts to somehow sue the student that 'attacked him'. of course, this notion of action died down once the ollivander realised her son's actions was to blame. however, tragedy struck once more at the end of the academic year for 2025-2026 as hogwarts was burned from the inside out. the results of the event seemed to be profitable for the ollivander, crafting new wands that were lost while listening to each story of loss carefully. normally, she didn't care for others stories like that, but considering her son studied within the castle, she couldn't help but be fearful of what he remembered too. now though, with the summer of 2026 rolling around, now as she stood as the age of thirty-six, a slightly wiser veronica continued life as if it was normal. her private affairs with her ex-husband continued, secretly seeing him whenever the two could, while she maintained business in the store as per usual. her son however, had decided to rebel against her wishes however, choosing ilvermorny as his place of study for the upcoming year. meaning that the two would be separated until hogwarts would be deemed suitable to study within. that was, if it was even repairable. she figured it was down to his curiosity of being in a different country/continent, but even the mention of a certain girl, had her son's cheeks flushing with red.
