APPEARANCE Esther stands at 5’7, just slightly above average, and her overall appearance can most definitely be attributed to her Veela heritage. It’s no secret that she’s particularly attractive, and to be oogled at by men who are unable to exercise self control is a common occurrence. PERSONALITY Independent, resilient, emotionally immature - those are a few words that describe her. She has an odd fascination with Muggle culture despite not ever really knowing any muggles, and between her two homes - New York and London - she has a pretty keen interest in collecting fashion and filling her wardrobe with it. She has a certain appreciation for their art and music, too. She could shoot the breeze all day about that stuff. Esther is most certainly sarcastic and dry with a dark sense of humour. Her hot-headed nature can be traced back most likely to her Veela background, though she does try her hardest most of the time to shun that particular side of herself. Like her mother before her, she does tend to manipulate men into getting things out of them - mostly the odd drink or a one night stand though, never things like money or anything too sinister. She has been accused on the odd occasion of using her abilities to mesmerise men to propel herself forward in her career as an esteemed Healer, which she absolutely resents. She has worked hard to get to where she is now, and faced a lot of adversity, too. Being half Veela isn’t something she goes around parading on purpose, since she wants to be taken seriously. If anything, she holds a particular dislike towards most men in general - especially the self-righteous ones in high positions of power. Ultimately though, she is caring, which she demonstrates through her work. She is also loyal to her friends - especially her girlfriends, and Alfie - and would defend them until her face turned blue. Esther is good at her core, but she does often lack judgement in ethics when it comes to stupid men and playing with them for fun. That is a deep-seated part of her personality that she’ll probably fight against for the rest of her life. ORIGIN & RELATIONS Born and raised in NYC, New York USA Relations: Mother - Joan Garnet (deceased) Father - Unknown Death Eater Half sibling(s)?: Unknown Best friend - Alfie O’Callaghan HISTORY Born in the Lower East Side and brought up across several boroughs of Manhattan and Brooklyn, Esther had a rather unconventional upbringing. Being the only child to a single mother - a Veela who seduced and stole from un-expecting men for a career - she wasn't grounded often, never got to settle in one place for too long, and found she kept to herself a lot of the time. Her head was stuck firmly in books from a young age and she didn’t have any friends - she never questioned whether this was an unusual lifestyle for a young girl. She had never known her father as a child and she was only told that he was a client of her mother’s, and of course at the time she didn’t really know what that meant. She had been informed that he'd already had a wife and children when she was conceived and that’s why he wasn’t in the picture, but that was the extent of it. Esther’s mother Joan inadvertently taught her very early on, and on a regular basis that men were only there to be used, and they weren't to be trusted anyway, and though Esther never really "got it", the concept would seemingly stick with her throughout her entire adult life. When she was old enough, like many other witches and wizards her age, she was enrolled into Ilvermorny, as she had clearly demonstrated many of the magical traits her wizard biological father must have possessed. Attending the school opened Esther’s eyes in many ways, but the most significant was in her ability to make friends, and the realisation that she had a bright and promising future if she applied herself. She immediately took to subjects that had more practical elements to them; potions, charms and herbology for example. Apart from the male attention that seemed to increase with her age, and her hot-headed temper, Esther displayed more qualities of a regular witch than from her mother's Veela side. Still, she never found it overly unusual that they would go bananas over her almost everywhere she went. Having seen it happen with her mother all her life, she just felt that was normal, pathetic, boys being boys. When Esther was in her 6th year, she was struck with a terrible tragedy. Her mother was killed one night by a death eater who she was advised by Magical Law Enforcement was known to her. The man acted out by using an unforgivable curse on her, and in that one fell swoop, Esther lost all the family she'd ever had and she was shattered. She managed to make it through the remainder of her years at Ilvermorny thanks to the guidance and counsel of a couple of her favourite professors and the support of her close friends. Eventually, Esther graduated alongside her peers, and then went on to further study as a Healer. Just after her 24th birthday, she read in the Daily Prophet that applications for traineeships at St Mungos in the UK were open, and it just seemed like a good time to throw caution to the wind. She was accepted and moved her life to work and study in London. After a couple of years training at St Mungos, she became a fully qualified Healer and was referred to an open position at Hogwarts. A few short years later, when Ilvermoney closed up for renovations, Esther’s childhood friend Alfie made the move across the sea and transferred to Hogwart’s as the school’s Herbology Professor. This spurred a new chapter of the witch’s life as the two rekindled their friendship, got incredibly close, became roommates, and then suddenly ruined it all by sleeping together. With Alfie’s tendency to be avoidant, and Esther’s inclinations to always want to run away, she found herself taking a temporary leave at her job and travelled to Europe with the intention of taking a short break to clear her head. Soon after her departure, Hag’s Fever arrived and prevented Esther from going home for quite some time. Then Hogwarts was reportedly destoryed and closed down for another year following that. Now that that’s all died down, (along with her personal funds), and the school has reopened in a new format, she’s decided to make the trip back to the UK, and to work to resume her previous life, to face reality and see what life throws at her next.
