Mid April 2021
OWLs were just around the corner, but Yas had so much more to be focused on. Like all the attention she was getting from boys as puberty had taken over her body. One boy even told her she glowed - Yas had really tried not to laugh in his face. She wasn't a reincarnation of Isis or anything. But it had gotten her thinking, could she be a muse for others as she'd not found one for herself? It wasn't like she struggled or anything with her painting. Even if her parents wrote it off as a hobby rather than a potential career. Especially not for the only witch in the family.
Yas had forced herself into the library to revise for her exams, but had quickly become distracted. She was trotting down the stairs when she spotted someone who had piqued her interest. She knew his name was Malcolm - he was probably the tallest boy in Hogwarts. Yas wondered mildly if he was half giant, but thought better than to ask. She quickened her pace so that she walked beside him, and tapped his arm for his attention. "Hey, I think you dropped something," said Yas, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "My jaw."

Malcom hated the library. The best part about it was the infamous large stack of books people snogged behind but he wouldn't be visiting those books today. He was on a mission studying for his OWLs. Arithmancy wasn't a subject he enjoyed in the slightest, but he had to pass to qualify. And if he wanted to play quidditch he had to keep his grades up...
A girl tapped on his arm, stopping him in his lazy "cool-guy" stride toward the long study tables, causing him to look down at the floor. "Oh." It took only a second for his expression to curl into an amused smile as he realized she had just used a pick up line one him. A bloody cheesy one at that but he liked the way her eyes twinkled when she looked at him.
Malcolm smiled down at the girl with the glowing skin, looking her up and down approvingly. "Likewise.." he greeted with an easy chuckle, biting his lip. His hazel eyes attempted to meet her gaze, "Where've ye been hidin' all my life?" Malcom asked back playfully, a slight twinkle in his eye. He couldn't remember seeing this girl in any of his classes, which was a bloody shame because she was so hot it was sinful. "Hi, I'm Mal. There must be somethin' wrong with my eyes, I can't take 'em off of ye..." he told her with the same tone laced with flirtation, already able to feel the Librarians eyes on them from across the room.

The cheeky grin grew on Yas' face, her dark eyes lighting up as the boy turned his attention to her. There was a moment of confusion, in which Yas had to chew on her cheek to keep herself from chuckling. But when he turned that smile on her, Yas knew immediately she was a goner. He was beautiful, in a sort of way that you didn't find in magazines or billboards. His face was strong, but his eyes held a hidden depth. Like he kept a secret from everyone and half the joy was the not knowing. Yas was too busy staring at his captivating features to realise that he had asked her a question, so there was a long pause before she answered.
"Oh er... in the Hufflepuff common room? Where all the cool people are," said Yas, nudging him with a bump of her hip. "Although, I think you must be blind to have never seen me. I'm literally always out and about," she chided, a playful grin lighting her features. Even the arch of his brow was sexy. Inshallah, she'd have to draw this stranger before the night was out.
"Think we've figured that out already," Yas replied, poking Mal in the shoulder. "Pleasure. I'm Yas," she greeted dutifully, shifting her bag over her shoulder. "I think you're a year above me, or maybe you just haven't been looking very hard," she added after a moment, her eyes scanning over his features, filing away each for later perusal in her imagination. "Do you have to stoop to get into broom cupboards?" asked Yas abruptly, unable to stop herself. So much for not sounding weird.

“Too many hits to the head from those bloody bludgers, I reckon..” he smiled with a flicker in his eye, he had definitely noticed the girl before, but easily disregarded her existence for being a Puff. After today’s encounter, he had a feeling like he’d change his mind…
His head cocked to the side, echoing her name after a moment. ”Yas? I like that. Has a nice ring to it.” he kissed the back of her hand softly with a charming smile. The way she spoke to him was an enticing mixture of flattery and banter as her dark eyes stared up at him through thick lashes.
Mal was pleased by what he was seeing, though her comment about stooping to get into cabinets was kind of weird. It caught him off guard...ohh, so she was the quirky type..he thought to himself. He couldn't wait to tell Jack about this one.
Shrugging, he held an easy smile, the thought of studying was far from him mind. ”I dunno..” he chuckled, slightly confused, but his gears started to turn. Mal watched her with undivided attention, ”Shall we test it out?” Malcolm asked her, raising his eyebrows playfully as he bit his lower lip. Something about this girl's personality was completely magnetic, he found himself completely enticed.

There was a flicker in his eye, and Yas found herself drawn in like a moth to the flame. "You play Quidditch?" she asked, the corner of her mouth hooking up in a smirk. Athletic on top of it all. Though it was fairly obvious based on the toned arms evident even beneath his robes. "You should be more careful when you play. Too many knocks to the head could cause some real... damage..." she murmured, her dark eyes trained on his face. Yas teased Mal for not knowing who she was - everyone knew her. It was just Yas' nature to be known and to be loved.
"I was the original Yas queen before it was picked up by drag queens," she added with a grin, running her fingers through her hair. When Mal kissed her hand, Yas tried to stop the flipping sensation in her gut - she knew nothing good would come of playing with fire. But inshallah, she loved the taste of danger.
With a mischievous grin, Yas tilted her head at Mal. "Mal, are you trying to get under my robes already?" she asked, her voice somewhere between a whisper and a purr. "At least treat me to a drink first," she added with a grin. "You ever been to the kitchens?" she asked, turning away from him and trotting off. She checked to make sure he was following, leading the way down to the kitchens.

Mal was proud to be a quidditch player, it was undeniably one of the easiest paths to popularity at Hogwarts. And boy, did he love to watch his jock magic make pretty girls swoon. Malcolm could tell by the way this girl carried herself that she was a bundle o’ fun. In response to her question, he smiled proudly, flexing a chiseled arm her way to give it a healthy squeeze with a wink. ”Nah, I’m just fuckin’ with ya, Yas…I’ve noticed ya around campus, you’re hard to miss because you’re gorgeous.” he told her in a flattery laced tone, offering her an effortless charming smile.
The chiseled teen raised his shoulders into a lazy shrug with a shit eating grin. Of course he was trying to get “under her robes”. He was nothing but a hormone raging teenage boy. ”Under or over, I s’pose.” he agreed playfully, eyebrows dancing into a waggle at the center of his forehead as he followed behind, quite enjoying the start of this chase. The view of Yas' behind was prime. Yas.
Shaking his head back and forth, he hadn't gone to the kitchens. "No, I haven't.." he answered, quite perplexed by why he never had until now. He was missing out on possible gains... "Do the kitchens have the ability to turn water into wine, or better yet, whiskey.." he teased playfully, already knowing the answer and following her lead. Truthfully, that would be the drink he'd fancy to treat her to, but he'd agree to whatever for the sake of entertaining the beauty in front of him. He had time to kill anyways.

Yas thought she had her jaw well under control, considering how confident and obscenely gorgeous Mal was. She especially liked that his name was three letters, just like hers. It just vibed well with her. She felt very small when he wrapped an arm around her, giving her a squeeze. Small and delicate. Like she needed protecting. Which, she supposed she did. No one else in her family was magical - Yas had no one to turn to in case of issue. She rolled her eyes but was secretly mollified. ”Good to know I make an impression,” she teased with a grin. Mal was laying it on thick, but Yas didn’t mind. It wasn’t like she was looking for the love of her life or anything. Her mother would kill her if she ended up with a white boy.
”There’s nothing quite as romantic as a dry hump, is there,” said Yas blithely, but she offered Mal a smile. She teased that he ought to buy her a drink first, but seeing as that was not likely to happen whilst they were on school grounds, Yas opted to offer up the kitchens. He was a Slytherin - close enough to the kitchen entrance to potentially be aware of it. Even a nice cup of chai wouldn’t go amiss right now.
Yas peeked over her shoulder, a sultry smirk stretching across her lips. ”If you ask nicely, you can have whatever you like,” said Yas. The house elves were always dying to please whoever crossed their path. Yas had heard that they used to not get payment for working so hard. She couldn’t imagine. Where was the humanity in that?
The pair arrived in front of the portrait of the fruit bowl, and Yas stretched out a hand to tickle the pear. It giggled, and shifted into a handle, and Yas tugged on it. The portrait swung open on hidden hinges, and Yas stepped back to let Mal in first. There was a rush of movement from the other side as she entered behind him, and pulled the portrait shut. ”Miss Yas, you has a friend!” said one squeaky voice, as if she hadn’t already clocked the fact. ”He is very tall!” the tiny elf added, looking up at him in awe.

Mal easily followed Yas as she led him through the halls toward the kitchen. They stopped in front of a portrait and his head cocked to the side, raising an eyebrow. "Did you just tickle the pear?" Mal chuckled before ducking into the portrait and looking around. There were elves working, shuffling about. They seemed happy to see Yas appear.
One of the elves stated that he was very tall. The young man pulled shoulders back as he puffed out his chest. ”I’m starvin for some house elves..” he growled. They jumped back with a couple of horrified squeaks and screams. One of the elves dropped an armful of dishes on the ground, causing quite the commotion. "I was kidding!" he stated quickly, raising his hands as a form of surrender. These were the creatures who prepared his food daily, he didn't want to be on their bad side. House elves probably didn't taste good anyways..
”One whiskey please.” he ordered with a straight face before breaking. ”I’ll have whatever Miss Yas' favorite is..” he stated. Malcolm turned to face Yas, "You come here often?" he asked with a laugh, wishing it was a Hogsmeade weekend so he could sneak an actual drink with Yas. She seemed like she would be fun to hang around.
Mal wondered if Jack knew that they could go into the kitchen whenever they wanted to eat. That was always a favorite activity for teenage boys.

Yas shot a look at Mal, perturbed. "You didn't know that?" asked Yas, arching a brow at him. "I thought everyone did," she added, more to herself than anything. Her eyes went wide as Mal teased one of the elves, and she swatted at him. "Oh, don't do that! You'll give them heart palpitations!" she hissed, before pottering over to the aggrieved elf and comforting it with a few pats to the back. "Don't listen to him, he's just a mean old snake," Yas murmured, shooting a glare that melted into a smile as she spotted Mal watching her.
Yas straightened and brushed off her robes. "You know they're not going to serve you whisky," said Yas taking a few steps towards Mal. Merlin, he was very handsome. Oh right, she'd noticed that already. She was like a parched woman who'd come across the Sahara into the fertile lands of the Nile delta. She turned to the elves. "We will take two karkades, please," said Yas firmly to the elf, who nodded and began to prepare the drink as she'd instructed so long ago. Turning to Mal, she explained. "It's like a hibiscus tea. It's very good. We used to drink it every summer, Yara and I," said Yas rather wistfully. "Now you can enjoy two jewels of the Nile," she added with a wiggle of her brows.
Tucking herself onto one of the benches, she thought it maybe corresponded to the Ravenclaw table, Yas responded to Mal's query at once. "Yes, actually. All Hufflepuffs come here often. We like to keep the house elves company, and it doesn't hurt when you've got a sweet tooth," she said, accepting the karkade from the elf. She looked up expectantly at Mal, waiting for him to try the drink.
