PERSONALITY Peggy is one of the strangest teenagers you're likely to ever meet. It's not to do with her interests or her ethics or anything like that, but more in the way she carries herself. She's always saying odd things, inserting herself into conversations where she wasn't ever welcomed, tripping over herself, putting her foot in her mouth or leaving a mess behind her. She's always been quite tall and lanky for her age, which might seem like a justification for her perpetual clumsiness. She’s one of those teenage girls who got a head start in the growth department on her peers. Her parents tell her that she’ll grow into herself eventually, and Peggy believes them. They also assure her that she will one day grow into her face. With many of her features oversized, including her eyes, mouth and teeth, she has quite a quaint look about her. Her mousey brown long hair is almost always dishevelled, even though she brushes it every morning like she’s supposed to. Freckles are scattered all over her face and body - she’s even been able to draw comparisons to some of her favourite constellations in a few of her freckle clusters. She's very into stargazing and wants to pursue Astronomy when she graduates. It's just about the only subject she's actually quite good at. She's a real people person, despite many of her peers considering her a little weird for their liking. Peggy has a rather eccentric sense of style (think clashing prints and loud colours), which seems to match her personality quite suitably. Her overall demanour really just lends itself to who she is - a massive oddball. Overall, Peggy is friendly, humble, loyal, obedient, unique and authentic, as well as absent-minded, awkward, forgetful, gullible, and very, very uncoordinated. ORIGIN & RELATIONS Born and raised in Liverpool, England Humphrey Duncan - Dad (squib) Donna Duncan - Mum (muggle) Robert Duncan - Brother, 14, (half-blood, non magical) HISTORY With a muggle for a mum and a squib for a dad, Peggy has never been your average kid. In a family full of weirdos, Peggy is the only one who's demonstrated magical ability - and that's probably the least perculiar thing about her! Growing up, her parents have bombarded her and her younger brother with conspiracy theories and ideas around armageddon aka the end of the world. Real tin-foil hat types, they spent a large chunk of Peggy's youth building bomb shelters, collecting coupons to cashin for non-perishable ration supplies, and being paranoid at the evening news. The kids were homeschooled their entire lives until Peggy surprisingly recieved her invitation to Hogwarts. Her social skills were certainly less than developed by that point. Peggy thought that going to be with the magical community might help her fit in, but she's stilll quite the outsider in many aspects. Her entire educational journey at Hogwarts so far has been a series of 'just scraping through' thanks to the compassion of a few teachers who have helped to get her to the point of a pass in many of her classes. She does love Astronomy however, and manages good grades in the subject. That's why she's decided to continue on to study at NEWT level and eventually persue a career in the field. She doesn't have many friends despite being friendly, and she's often the butt of hallway jokes, but being obliivious to that has probably propelled Peggy to persist in her persuit for human companionship at any level really. SITE EVENTS REACTION Peggy has been a student at Hogwarts for countless scary events. In the beginning, she was quite rattled to say the least. Her first experience in the face of adversity was in 2022 when one of the older Slytherin girls and her mates were running around murdering students. Many events follwed throughout the years - attacks on the community fuelled by blood purity logic. Even though Peggy has been a little niave to the fact that she could very well be a target given her family background, witnessing the many attacks on Hogwarts and its associated landmarks made Peggy quite a shell of herself for awhile there. In general it was very scary - and what was worse was she feared her parents might remove her from the school and bring her back to Liverpool and send her underground for protection. That's why she always attempted to play down the seriousness of everything going on, often not relaying to them the many of events that occured in the magical world that weren't reported on back home in the muggle press. Now with the understanding of the main perpetrators supposedly gone, it's all out of sight out of mind in Peggy's head, and the new school is a symbol of things being totally safe. She's resilient and forgets things easily - that's reflected not only in her ability to get on with life despite all of the mayhem, but also by continuing on with her overall behaviour even though it hasn't really worked for her in terms of excelling in school or building solid relationships. But whether it's to do with her upbringing or the fact that she's seen such chaos, the memories remain buried deep down in the abyss of her temporal lobe, and loud noises or any talk of dark things still spooks her to her core!
