3 April 2028
The months had been long, but with frequent visits between Sweden and London, Luna and Simon had made their situation work. Even though Evy had been rather disgruntled with Simon's unannounced visits, Luna knew her best friend was at least pleased that Luna was happy. It was lucky that Simon had a knack for turning up just as Nate would leave - he had been frequenting their flat more than Luna would have liked. But all in all, life was good. Not great, but decent enough.
When the Harpies received their fixtures for the newly announced Euro League, Luna stared in shock at their first match. They'd be playing... the Malmo Marauders. She burst into laughter, eliciting strange looks from her teammates. She'd been quick to explain how strange it was that she had gone from playing against Simon, to with him, and now even though he was half the world away it seemed, their competition wouldn't cease. The girls snickered, and made Luna promise not to go easy on him. As if she ever would. There was an extra burst of energy in their practice after that, and Luna couldn't wait to see Simon and share the news with him.
The fixtures had been released two weeks ago, and the first match would be this evening. Simon had told her for solidarity's sake, he'd have to arrive with the team, but they'd have the night together post match. Luna arrived at the pitch with the rest of the Harpies, chatting animatedly about how the match would likely play out. It was the first time in recent history that international club teams would play one another - Luna had a feeling every match would be sold out. She knew vaguely of muggle football, and how popular these sorts of matches were there.
Luna tugged on her training kit before marching out onto the field with the rest of her teammates. The Marauders were already out there, warming up. Luna's captain directed them to do their own drills and warm ups, and they all nodded. Luna gripped her bat and broom, and kicked off in the air, beelining for Simon who was hovering near the goal posts. "Just like old times, hey?" asked Luna, beaming at the love of her life.

Life as of late had been overwhelming but Simon could feel all of the moving pieces finally coming together. Things between he and Luna had improved a great bit since the fight on his birthday. Their relationship and his love for Luna grew stronger each day. He was happier than ever now that they were making time to see each other more, improving communication. Simon was looking for a new flat in London before deciding where to play. As much as he loved Sweden, there was a gravitational pull in the UK drawing him back. Simon knew it was what he needed and he’d have to make a difficult decision soon. Would any of the teams in the UK want him after getting traded from the Bats? Hell, he’d worry about that later.
For the first time in a long time, he was nervous for a game… The Malmo’s gave Simon a fair share of side eye when he warned them he’d be speaking with Luna before the game. He promised not to “go easy” on her because he knew she wouldn’t. This would be a true test to see which team was better.. Simon held a lot of pride in the Malmo Marauders, but he knew Luna would do anything to win, especially to shove the glory in his face. It was the true Slytherin inside her and he expected it fully. Simon was the first to hit the pitch to show that he meant business and he wouldn’t be distracted by the Beautiful Beater on the other team.
The wind whistled in his ears as he shot into the sky to take a couple of warm up laps around the pitch. There was nothing better than getting high. No pun intended this time.
Simon could feel Luna's presence as soon as she entered the pitch. The wind whistled in his ears as he hovered idly on his broom, smiling back at Luna as she climbed into the air. Once they were close enough he leaned forward to kissed her unapologetically, not caring to break the rules...until he heard a cacophony of 'BOOO's erupt from around them, following with over exaggerated puking and gagging sounds. His icy saucers widened with surprise, ”Fu—That's right, you're the enemy.." he grabbed her broom handle to pretend to shove her away but steadily pulled her back toward him, knowing she could grip the broom just fine. Simon shot his girlfriend a cheeky smile as his eyes brightened, truly happy to see her. Somehow her beauty was enhanced when she was high in the sky.
”You ready to lose?” he asked harshly, ending with a smile as he watched her carefully. Simon knew damn well he and the Malmo Marauders had their work set out for them today. All he wanted was a good game and rough competition.
And a win.

Luna's laser focus landed immediately on Simon, who was warming up on his own. She kicked off hard from the ground, and sped towards him. He had paused his laps of the pitch to hover as she climbed through the air, finally stopping in front of him. She kissed him back eagerly despite the displeasure from the crowd, smiling into his lips. "Like I said. Old times," said Luna with a predatory grin, clinging to her broom as Simon pretended to push her away whilst instead pulling her closer. Luna reached out and grabbed his hand, giving it a squeeze as her predatory look turned into a smile. "I've missed you," she admitted, her gaze searching his face. "But you're looking well. Seems the sun does come out in Malmo," she teased.
Simon's eyes were looking particularly blue today against his normally white skin, which had taken on a slight tan despite being a half vampire. Though she hated being away from Simon for as long as they had been, Luna knew that the time away in Sweden had been good not only for his reputation, but for his mental health. He was able to spend more time with his family, cherishing the moments and rebuilding the fraught relations after Sofia's death. He was also away from Nate, who's relationship with Simon did more harm than good. As desperate as Luna was to have Simon back home in England, she wanted what was best for him.
Luna snorted, rolling her eyes. "Harpies are top of the league so far this year, and everyone knows the British and Irish league is the most competitive!" Luna crooned smugly. "Millie's one of the best keepers I've ever seen. Good luck getting your quaffles past her," she added. "Let's do some laps," said Luna, blowing Simon a kiss then taking off without waiting for a confirmation. Merlin, it felt good to tease him in the air again. A grin spread across her lips as the wind whipped her hair from her face.

Simon smiled adoringly at Luna. She looked even more beautiful in her element on a broom. The first way he fell in love with her moves on the pitch and the smack she talked off of it. Simon was so proud of how far Luna had come. She was his warrior and inspired him to be his best every day.
Luna shared that Millie was the Keeper he needed to look out for. His icy saucers widened, gaping slightly at her. "Oooh. I'm so scared." he shivered playfully, eyes scouting for Millie almost immediately. He knew of her and he was well aware that the Harpies would be fierce competition. "To new experiences.." Simon tipped his invisible hat to her, offering her a wink. Deep down, Simon knew the Malmo's would be the ones needing the luck today, but he was ready to fight with blood, sweat, and tears. Hopefully the tears would come from the Harpies side and not the Malmo's, but tears in any game usually meant it was a good game.
Simon shot off in pursuit of Luna, darting toward her and cicling the curve of the pitch with ferocity. They zipped past the hoops as their team members watched them skeptically. It seemed to add a bit of tension for the other players. Simon could hear his teammates shouting at him in Swedish but he ignored it. This was the one place he felt untouchable which was ironic considering the quidditch pitch was where he got injured the most. But he found the most peace up in the air.
After a couple of laps, they were head to head. Simon eased off the speed and halted his broom to a stop. The Malmo's were still yelling insults at him in Swedish.
"Babe!" he called out. "They don't like it." he explained quickly, his face slightly pained because he was torn between the love of his life and his team. Simon didn't want to tell Luna 'no' for anything, especially when he too wanted to indulge in the activity they loved the most together. Simon watched her carefully, unsure how she'd feel about that, and truthfully, it made him nervous.

Teasing Simon got Luna's blood going like no other activity. Not even the noble game of Quidditch itself held quite as much excitement, though it was a close second. This was their bread and butter - how they had accidentally gone from enemies, to friends, to lovers. Despite playing in different leagues, the fact that they were able to share this time on the pitch again after so many months apart sent Luna's heart flying higher than her broom could ever take her. She zipped off, blowing Simon a kiss before leaving him in the dust.
After a few warm up laps, the pair paused to catch their breath. Luna looked skeptically at Simon's teammates who were shouting at him in their nonsense language. Nobody on the Harpies gave a damn who Luna flew with - they knew she was excited to play the Marauders, and that excitement would translate to an excellent performance on her side. Despite their short time together, the Harpies understood where they drew their strengths from. It was part of what made them such a tightly knit team. Luna threw a smug grin, and waved sarcastically over at the rest of the Marauders. "You can tell them where they can stick it," said Luna sweetly to Simon. "Do you see my girls complaining? No. They trust me," she added smugly.
Luna hovered in the air, warming up her shoulders with some experimental swings of her arms, rolling her shoulders and her neck to get everything moving. "Are they afraid to get beaten by a team of girls?" Luna crowed, glancing from her boyfriend to his team who were still suspended somewhere between disbelief and distaste. "It's not part of the regular league anyways. I am sure you will play well," she conceded, not adding the fact that they both knew that the Harpies would play better.

Simon bit the inside of his cheek, eyes watching Luna carefully because he didn't want to upset her, especially before a game. "Uh...yeah. You're right." he agreed, and he actually meant it. Luna was his world, the love of his live, he wouldn't allow his team to deprive him of what he and Luna loved to do most. Their relationship started off of quidditch. After a moment of reflection, he shrugged off his teammates, deciding he'd take whatever shit they wanted to give him later.
"Fuck it. I don't care. I'll deal with them later." he decided, blocking out the rest of the world and focusing only on Luna. His world. Simon ignored the Swedish yells echoing his the back of his mind and below them, ultimately deciding they'd have to fly up there and get him if they had such strong feelings about him warming up with his girlfriend.
Simon cocked his head to the side, feigning a more nonchalant smile. "They're nervous, I reckon." he admitted with a laugh, knowing their egos playing against girls were the issue. "There has been a divided discussion and agreement amongst the Falcons on how much violence and force is appropriate while playing with all ladies..." he shared with a lazy shrug, unsure how else to say it. Simon was sure they were used to it. His eyes watched Luna carefully, "I'm excited to play with you again. May the best team win.." he declared, hovering closer to give her a kiss before pulling away quickly, hoping no one noticed. They noticed.

Luna smiled. "I usually am," came her airy response. She narrowed her eyes slightly at Simon. "Physical prowess can't out-perform a more tactically talented team," she taunted, though she knew that they were both exceptional Quidditch players. It was what had drawn them together, more so than their initial dislike for one another. Thinking back to their Hogwarts days made Luna long for the simplicity of it all. But there was no going back - and there was no Hogwarts to go back to either.
Kissing him back with her usual ferocity, Luna tangled her fingers in Simon's hair, drawing every second out longer and longer. Her heart was full to burst. How had she managed this - a loving boyfriend, a loyal Quidditch team, being in peak physical condition? She was on top of the world. "Let the best team win." With a wink, Luna was off, returning to her teammates for last minute commentary before the match.
[end Luna]
