Ginny and her middle son had somewhat of a special bond. She liked to spoil all of her kids and dote on them, but Albus was the only one who held onto it and accepted it with open arms as they got older. James and Lily had grown up and though they had their own little nuances; her Albie was still the baby that came back to her. Or so she thought. In reality Albus was likely the only one who put up with her babying, who didn’t want to outwardly reject her and save her feelings. But she tried not to think about that too much. It was just difficult to let go and accept her kids weren’t kids anymore.
It was a rare day she was working from home. She had put in too many hours at the office and instead had decided to throw caution to the wind and stay at home for the way. A nice relaxing day or editing and working in the living room in her lounge wear; except Ginny Weasley Potter didn’t know how to relax. There was always something to be done. Something else to be looking at. Something worth doing. Once she had done some work for the morning, she had decided she would aparate to Diagon Alley and get herself her favourite lunch. It was a Wednesday in October, it wouldn’t be that busy. Except she had gone there, and met people she knew. Chatted and laughed over lunch, and then decided she’d try and throw together a family dinner for the evening. As well as buying her fair share of Halloween tat & decorations she absolutely didn’t need of course HARRY JAMES POTTER hadn’t been there to stop her), she’d put together the most delicious meal for her family. Her behavior for the day was borderline manic, but she craved some family together time. However, unsurprisingly at such short notice none of her kids or Harry had actually text her back, bar Albus Severus Potter who was always up for dinner being made for him.
Once she knew he was coming, it had given her more ammo to go all out; making sure to buy some of his favourite snacks and sweets when she saw them in the Halloween aisle. She had also gone all out and bought five fairly hefty Pumpkins for carving. Likely she’d be the one carving all five of them if Albus wasn’t up for it. Whatever, it would give her something to do.
For now she had scattered some of her new autumnal candles around the house and lit them all. To make ure there was harassment from every angle; she had also started to hang up some of her new crazy decorations while she waited for anyone to arrive.
