━ i move so far in time ━ summer 2028
ASKING FOR HELP WAS FAR from the kind of phrase Idele Vector would use. It felt like begging almost. Being confined to her house for a small fraction of the summer break, she had to seemingly beg her mother for some freedom. But it came at a cost. To continue studying no less, as her mother would never settle for less.
Of course, Idele had her ways around this, especially since her brother was a professor at LIFE, where the younger Vector would be attending the following year for her NEWTs. So with permission granted, Idele was free...for a few hours that day.
She had arranged to meet for lunch and tutoring alongside her older brother, and as she walked through the streets the redhead realised she was running late.

We're looking for an open door Something we didn't see before Archie had been quite pleased to hear from his youngest sister. The youngest Vectors were well on their way to their final years of school, which only reminded Archie of his age. It felt like yesterday he had been preparing for his sixth year, waiting for his father to drop by so Archie could remind him of the prefect badge he wore and his position on the Quidditch team. Not that Octavian Sr ever listened, as he was always focused on his next target instead. At least in this regard, Archie always felt conscious of how he responded to his siblings. As the eldest, he felt a duty to fill in where their father had failed. Or at least to the best of his ability, given his stepmother’s antics.
He took a seat, a coffee floating neatly in place before him. The agreed-upon time had passed, but only by a mere few minutes. If anything, Archie had arrived a bit early. But he never worried about such things. Better late than never, he always thought. Though his father could hardly manage that in the best of times. Peering into the light crowd, he spotted the small figure and red hair. Casually, he waved a hand to catch her attention. Archie had been eighteen when the triplets were born, but he tried his best not to let the age gap create a distance between them.

━ i move so far in time ━ PICKING UP HER PACE, IDELE Vector arrived fairly quickly and a little out of breath. Pushing open the doors, Idele grinned and waved in the direction of her older brother once she caught sight of him. A coffee was floating in his direction, landing perfectly neatly in front of him.
Taking the time to approach him, Idele began to shrug off the thin cardigan she was wearing, placing her bag down in the chair across from him also. "Hi-Sorry!..I'm not too late am I?" She began, taking a seat and adjusting her bright red hair. "Mum was fussing again as I was leaving and Midge was being a nuisance..You know about Midge right?.." Only just the worst house elf known in the history of elves.

We're looking for an open door Something we didn't see before In the back of his mind, Archie wondered if dear Harmony knew where her daughter was. It was easy to think such petty thoughts, and he would force them away every time they popped into Archie’s mind. The last thing he wanted was for his siblings to be used as pawns in this family. He never wanted them to feel what he had felt at the hands of their father, though, unfortunately, he’d been too young to help Nova with that one.
”Not at all.” He assured his younger sister. ”Would you like some tea or anything?” He offered, trying not to make a face at the mention of Midge. ”Yes…we’ve met.” Harmony had her house elves treat Archie much the same as herself. He tried not to mind, but as long as the triplets were his students—there wasn’t much of a choice but to deal with his stepmother occasionally. ”Are your brothers also taking their NEWTs?” Archie wondered. Leonhard was still a concern—appearing more and more to take after their father more than Alan, who was much like his sister.

━ i move so far in time ━ FEELING BAD FOR BEING A little late, Idele couldn't help but smile widely, as if there wasn't any problem in the world, despite her mother's controlling attitude of course. Her brother was sweet, and he always had been to each of their siblings. But despite being the last Vector in the family, there was still no dislike between the two of them, which of course made Idele feel rather relieved.
"Tea would be lovely..thank you." Smiling as Idele noticed Archie's tone regarding Midge, she smoothed out the crinkles in parts of her trousers, sitting more comfortably. "Don't worry..I hate her too." She added, hoping it would somehow make the situation a bit better. Midge was a nuisance anyway and truly not even her mother liked her. "I think..Alan might do..but Leo still needs some..convincing. Mum's obviously trying to sweeten them both up, promising all sorts if they both do it..but so far I'm the only confident one.."

We're looking for an open door Something we didn't see before The oldest and the youngest. One might not think such a pair would get along. Archie was well into his sixth year at Hogwarts when the triplets were born. But Archie never wanted to put up walls with his siblings. End of the day, they were all they had of their disjointed family. Even if Harmony was destined to separate her perfect and superior children, Archie wanted them in his life if they would allow him.
Archie couldn’t help but grin at Idele’s comment about Midge—the horrendous little house elf. Catching the waitress’s eye, Archie signaled they were ready for tea. ”I’m not surprised.” Archie admitted. Naturally, he’d watched his younger sibling’s progress without interfering. ”Sammy doesn’t seem all that interested in classes.” He thought about the last time he saw Idele’s mother and their little chat. Sammy reminded Archie of Octavian Sr. Ironic as Archie and his younger brother Otto were both named after their father.

━ i move so far in time ━ DESPITE BEING INCREDIBLY YOUNGER THAN her eldest brother, once part of Idele's brain developed, she made it part of her life's mission to stay in touch with her half-siblings and actually get to know them outside from the opinion that her mother had set in stone about them.
Archie, while he was the first born, wasn't that far off in age from Idele's mother, and it made the youngest wonder what sort of things her father simply used to get up to...Noticing her brother's grin as she made her comments about Midge, lips curved upwards too, matching his smile.
"He isn't...All he wants is to please Mum. I won't even be surprised if he fails his OWLs so he can't even get to do his NEWTs later..." Idele paused briefly, smiling up at the waitress as she used magic to pour them both some tea. "When Hogwarts was shut during that time, I went to Beauxbatons and he begged to be home schooled...Mum obviously didn't say no, but it was annoying getting owls every month from her begging me to come home because they stayed behind."

We're looking for an open door Something we didn't see before Archie had worried about the age gap when his younger siblings were still small, but the older they got, the more independent he found them. The triplets were all very different. Idele was reasonable and intelligent, fitting in well with Nova and himself. But the three were Ravenclaws at heart, he supposed. Scottie was easy enough to get along with, but Sammy was the one who had Archie worried. The reminders of their father hung heavy, and Archie had warned Harmony earlier that spring. Hopefully, there was still time to help shape his path.
”Was it strange to be apart from them?” Archie wondered, nodding to the waitress a thank you. He picked up his tea and carefully sipped it. Ever since that conversation in February, Archie wondered if he should share his thoughts with any of his other siblings. There was an obligation as a brother but his duty as a Professor and Head of House. Maybe it was a fine line he could walk. ”What are the boys up to these days? I see them in detention now and then.” Not that Archie often led detention, but the other Professors would mention it in passing.

━ i move so far in time ━ PUTTING THEIR DIFFERENCES ASIDE, IT felt refreshing knowing that Idele could relate and talk with someone outside of her home. Despite the two of them being related, Idele felt glad to have the perspective of someone older, even if Archie was in the same age range as her own mother...
"Not..really." Pondering at her brother's question, Idele truly wondered if there was a time when felt absent or felt any odd particular feeling because she was away from her brothers. Taking a few moments to contemplate, it was there that Idele truly realised she had no...major interest in her brothers affairs. Of course, if they were hurt at any means, she would care - do whatever she could to help them out. Other than that...they had their own lives, their own separate interests.
"Scotties well...chasing after girls..and Sammy?..He's just Sammy." Probably doing everything in his power to satisfy their mothers every dying wish. Hearing that they both wound up in detention every now and then wasn't surprising, especially since the youngest Vector tended to hear the same thing from their mutual 'friend'; Theo. "How..is everything at LIFE?"

We're looking for an open door Something we didn't see before Archie often saw the bond between twins and triplets. Their twin half-sisters were inseparable, but it was different with the triplets. Perhaps if Idele had a sister rather than two brothers, but Archie wouldn’t know. For the longest time, the only other family he knew was Nova, and they were always close. The fact that the three were sorted into separate houses was also remarkable and spoke to their individuality. Idele had warmed to her older siblings the fastest, but Ravenclaws would always find like minds. Scottie and Sammy, while identical, were vastly different characters from what Archie observed.
The corner of Archie’s mouth upturned. He remembered those teenage years. Despite the prefect badge on his chest, Archie found his share of fun when not studying or at Quidditch practice. ”I remember those years…” He chuckled at the memories and how simpler the world felt in those days. Scottie appeared as an average teenage boy and Sammy, but Archie still noted something about his brother that felt far too familiar to their father. Idele then asked about LIFE, and Archie let out a small sigh. ”Busy as usual.” He sipped more tea. ”Wrangling Cursebreakers is about as simple as wrangling students.” Even the retired ones. Many were accustomed to their schedules, and the sudden change to long and regimented days had been jarring for some.

━ i move so far in time ━ IT FELT RATHER DIFFICULT TO explain how being the only girl in a set of triplets made the youngest Vector feel rather...isolated. She knew even if the circumstances were different, if she had been born a singular boy in a triplet set with twin girls - the result would have probably been the same. Especially because of her twin brothers actions and behaviour. The three of them couldn't be far from completely different even if it wasn't obvious with how different the three of them looked.
"Those years?" Idele questioned, brow raising with interest. "Don't tell me you were just like them at your age.." It felt rather...embarrassing at times watching how her twin brothers fawned over the actions or reactions of girls and even their mother, gushing like young school girls confessing to their crush. Although, it did make the youngest realise how little she truly cared for them..."What's it like?..or..was it like? Working with Cursebreakers? Do you get to travel as often as they do or..?"

We're looking for an open door Something we didn't see before Archie chuckled and shook his head. ”Erm—not quite.” It wasn’t his plan to reveal much of his time as a student to his youngest siblings, or at least not until they had graduated. ”I played Quidditch, made Prefect…” And he’d gotten well enough marks to qualify as a Cursebreaker. Archie shrugged innocently. He did his fair share of dating but nothing terribly serious, clearly, as he was still a bachelor at this age. The idea of changing that hardly crossed his mind and certainly not with so much keeping him busy these days.
”Those are stories for another time—perhaps after you graduate.” It wouldn’t do him any good to lose credibility because of things he chose to do as a teenager. It was a lifetime ago, and he’d learned since then, as he hoped his siblings and others would as well. ”Not much these days.” The traveling was the upside of that career. ”I mainly ensure we find them to teach and qualify the trainees. And I focus on a couple of subjects here and there alongside everything else.” His other courses, not to mention duties as a Head of House. ”They can be a rough bunch but well-meaning.” Archie nodded as he thought aloud. ”It's not a career for the faint of heart.” And one where your feelings would get hurt if it meant you survived in the field. It wasn’t a training where words were minced.
But the thought of careers brought a question to mind. ”So, have you thought about what you might do later?” Archie was not pushing Cursebreaking on his youngest sibling. The idea gave him a small amount of anxiety because of how dangerous it was. Plus, he was sure Harmony would no sooner set him on fire than let one of her beloved triplets walk such a perilous path, assuming it was all her eldest stepson’s influence.
