PERSONALITY The youngest of the Poole children, and significantly so at that, Tilly has always viewed herself as the "extra". Maybe not the healthiest way to view her standing in the family, but it was hard not to when everything revolves around "the twins": Terry and Sam. She doesn't hold it against her siblings, of course, but it definitely helped shape the way she's since learned to keep to herself and not try to bother her parents. She's always thought that the way she's treated is better than as some sort of golden child or the baby of the family, so that's nice at least. At the end of the day, she rolls her eyes at most of what her parents and family say, and keeps to herself on that front. As difficult as it is to stay out of the limelight as a Quidditch phenom, Tilly does not let it get to her head. If anything, she's almost too relaxed about it. While there are some on her team that eat, sleep, and breathe the sport, she just happens to be really good at it. She's not like the stereotypical jock and doesn't want to be, to the point that her indifference can be off putting to those that think she should make career out of it. Making tough decisions like that is one of her vices, and even though she still has a couple years of school left, she doesn't know if she wants to fully commit to the magical world yet. Despite trying to be as cool as a cucumber most of the time, one of her biggest pet peeves is being blamed for things that are out of her control. She believes unfairness like this is completely wrong, and has no problem fighting for herself if it comes down to it. Situations like these might be the most aggressive she'll ever be seen. Following the fire at Hogwarts, Tilly has become more interested in the macabre. She's been told that it's a coping mechanism of sorts to try and rationalize the events of that night, but she personally thinks it's all kind of cool. She's very interested and not phased in the slightest by gore or horrific injuries. Most of this could also be attributed to her parents talking about their own jobs over dinner. Nothing beats hearing about a rather gross case of chicken pox while shoveling casserole into her mouth. Solid stomach and nerves of steel aside, Tilly's fascination by death does counteract her own fear of being injured. She very much has a 'look but don't touch' approach to it all. The last of four. An accident? More like an extra. Never actually forgotten or considered a nuisance, but also never in the limelight. One would think that the nearly nine year gap would allow for some kind of babying. It never happened. Even as a toddler, Mathilde was dragged along to everything that the "twins" did. School shopping for both? She was there. Birthday parties, graduation, then being dropped off to see their friends? She was there. While home with just her parents those first eleven years, everything was plain, and normal, and boring. A typical mundane childhood, if you would. Tilly could see the shift when Terry and Sam came back though. The way they were treated so much better. With more enthusiasm. She could never hold it against her siblings. They were unwilling participants in it as well, treated differently just because they happened to be born within a year of one another. Despite the unfairness in it, and her own protests when it was obvious, there was no way for her to change it. All it looked like was a little girl throwing a temper tantrum. The only reprieve from this were the yearly summer visits to her grandparents once she was old enough to join her siblings. There was an equality to how they were treated there, away from Manon and Edward's strange obsession with irish twins. Between the countryside of Lille, France, where her mother's family was from, and Brussels, the summer months were the best. Looking back on it, Tilly now realized that longing for that every year was not healthy as a child. Wanting to physically be away from her parents only became more frequent as she got older too, dismissed as her being a teenager. An unloved one, maybe. At eleven, her own letter to Hogwarts arrived. Four for four on muggleborns. There had been signs that she had the talent too, hidden away by her parents in the last ditch hope that maybe one of their children would be normal. Tilly was happy to disappoint once again, and off she went. Becoming a Hufflepuff was the first thing that happened to her, and she immediately dove into everything that she had heard her older siblings talk about for years. Potions were awesome, charms was cool, but flying? Flying was the best. Tilly had always been an active child, running everywhere that could be walked, and she had been signed up for youth football at the age of four. Seemingly with talent, her athleticism contrasted her parents' medical interests. Aside from a broken wrist when she was eight, she had never once been sidelined from sports or physical activity. As a witch, the next obvious choice was to put all of her time and effort into Quidditch. The scary part was that she was good. Really, really good. The whispers of a potential second or third year making the Hufflepuff team weren't exactly quiet, and Tilly knew she would have her chance eventually. It all came to an abrupt stop at the end of her second year, when Hogwarts exploded in flames. She had been ushered out of the Great Hall during dinner, luckily not one of the ones who had managed to take a bite of their food yet. Unfortunately, her poor pet rat, Whiskers, was disintegrated somewhere in the basement. At first, she had told herself that he had managed to escape and ran off, having his best bachelor life free of human interference. Or that maybe he had accidentally been given to another student. A lot of the pet rats did look similar, and came from the same shop in Diagon Alley. But as she heard other Hufflepuff's had been reunited with their pets, the possibility of Whisker's survival grew lower and lower. A not so tough decision had to be made the following summer. While most Hogwarts students were sent to Ilvermorny, as a way of paying back Hogwarts for their own help the previous few years, Tilly and a select few went off to Beauxbatons. It wasn't that difficult for her, language charms aside to assist everyone with understanding one another. Her French background helped immensely though, and she personally felt like she flourished there for the year she was made to attend. While there, she managed to keep playing Quidditch and work on her skills, something she was hoping to show off once she got back to Hogwarts. With the year abroad done, back to Hogwarts she went for her fourth year. The changed system in the school wasn't too hard to adjust to for her, as MAGIC wasn't that much different to what she'd already been doing during her first and second years there. The new and improved campus was something to behold though, and for once, she thought about working on her studies instead of trying out for the Quidditch team. It was a bit of a let down for Hufflepuff, and she knew that, but she also wanted to absorb the school more. This was going to be where the last half of her education was now, and Quidditch could always come the following year. And it absolutely did. Enter fifth year. All spring and summer, Tilly really pushed herself into gear. She knew going in that there would be a lot of housemates trying out. The old guard of seventh years had all graduated, opening up previously held spots. The tryouts were intense, leaving her with absolutely shredded practice robes and covered in mud from head to toe. Wind and rain was no excuse to be lazy though. She managed to make the team, thankfully, bumping one of the more excitable, seventh year students into a reserve position. Her dreams had finally come true! There had been fifth year Chasers before, of course, but with disjointed years and new school schedules that made practicing harder to do, it was certainly a feat in her eyes. Now all she had to do was maintain her position, which she didn't see as a problem at all. SITE EVENTS REACTION The biggest change in Tilly's life was the burning of Hogwarts. It shifted the way she went to school and viewed life in general. She lost her pet rat in it, as well as a few classmates. Her attitude towards life has definitely changed since then, becoming slightly obsessed with what comes next, if anything. Aside from a disruption in her school life, other big world events haven't really effected her much. She's more interested in reading the obituaries in the Daily Prophet than the front page news.
