Dear mummy,

Thanks for sending the cakes - though Idele refused to share with me because she thought you'd poisoned them. She's mad, that one. For someone who loves to bake with Nova so much, she really needs to be more trusting.

I was thinking about the Easter hols, do you want me to ask the Hogwarts house elves for a pudding? Maybe something to shake things up with Midge. Maybe she'd be offended though.

Theo and I are working on this awful draught of peace potion in preparation for OWLs, and I simply can't be bothered. Do you know if I really need a potions OWL to succeed?

Anyways, miss you loads and really looking forward to coming home in a few days.

My Dear Boy,

Your sister has a very unique sense of humour, darling, please do not dwell on it. And while mummy certainly appreciates your attempt to test Midge's strength of character, I do have to spend an awful lot of time with the house-elf, I prefer her mood considerably lighter. She is known to be a sensitive sort, and the puddings at Hogwarts will certainly send her into a foul mood. As they would my stomach.

While I am certain you will succeed in whatever you choose to do, darling, I cannot help but think it best you give the potions class a genuine attempt before we discuss casting it aside. How does that sound? I'm very sure you will conquer whatever you put your mind to, you have always been my clever boy. I trust you will not let Theo's good humour distract you from your goals.
