a fine young galahad.
STARING AT TILLY AS IF SHE WERE A BOOK FULL of pig Latin, Theo was as intrigued as he was disturbed. Though he couldn't help but laugh as she rolled her head back and let her tongue loll out, proverbial crosses over both eyes. He supposed what she said made sense, but he couldn't picture it. "I think that's the point, though." Theo started, hesitantly in case he offended her morbid curiosity. "We don't get to see it until we're there." He shrugged his shoulders, as if it were that simple. "That's why everyone's so bloody afraid of it, right?" He tried a laugh, but it was a bit too weak for his liking.
"Shrink...?" Theo mouthed to himself, letting his mind roll over all the muggle-mumbling half-wit sayings until it clicked. "Oh! Like a mind-healer?" He asked, questioning himself as he wasn't particularly sure he'd gotten it right. It was mangled up with the rest of their whack-job professions. "Charlatans, the lotta them." He sounded just like his father then and it might have made him cringe if he wasn't so sure he was right. "They tried to get me to see one, once." He added casually. "My great-aunt chased them out with an old broom."
Sitting back on the desk he was perched on, Theo pulled his legs up and carefully folded them atop the rickety old thing as he watched Tilly's lungs fight with a handful of ancient dust. "Boring!" He crowed around a cupped hand, a laugh in his smile as he watched her set it back down carefully. "Who would you rather be felt up by then?" He asked with a taunting quirk of his mouth, chancing his luck as he always did. His great-aunts old manor had enough ghosts in its attic to chill the bones, but Theo didn't say anything in case Tilly asked something horrifying, like if she could visit.
Tilly's expression stilled, and Theo wondered if it was because he'd mentioned his own experience with the fires. It had obviously done something to Tilly, somewhere in her strange head, but Theo was too scared to ask in case she clammed up any more than she already had. He cleared his throat, dropping his gaze to his hands as the room seemed to vibrate with a new and unfamiliar tension. His attention was only pulled back by Tilly speaking, her tone intentionally light. Theo couldn't help but grin, unfolding his legs and letting them drop to the ground as he raised his brows. "Always," He replied sharply, beckoning her with a challenging tilt of his chin. "Are you still going to tease me for asking?"
