James watched as the professor conjured a stream of water out of the lake and the water gracefully turn to ice as it fell back down into the lake. As much as James didn't want to admit it, he thought someone was trying to rise to the status of Voldemort as well. Or worse. He crossed his arms across his chest. "I feel like you're right," he agreed. James may have always been a troublemaker at heart, acting very immature most of the time, but he was also very good at conversation when he needed to be. Esepcially with those teachers he respected. James turned to look at the professor. He had not much spoken about the young muggleborn, but he felt compelled to with Headmaster Reynolds.
"Professor..." he started, hesitating briefly to word it correctly. "What about you? What do you think about... the muggleborn girl?" He asked. The question had just occured to the boy, and he was curious about what else Professor Reynolds thought on the matter.
There was really no use in not telling Professor Reynolds. To James, he figured he would be one of the last people to judge him harshly. James let out a sigh as he watched the Headmaster making ice sculptures out of the ice he had frozen. "I want to travel," he finally said. "I want to see the world... and then maybe if that doesn't suit me... figure something out then." James shrugged. He knew that if travelling and seeing the world didn't work out for him, he would probably go into an actual career field. But the young man was so sure that it was the right thing for him that he didn't need to have a backup plan just yet.

He kept moving his wand as he finished an ice sculpture of a large snake, and positioned the lion over it almost stamping the snake out. The giant eagle ice sculpture moved over to the other side of the snake and a badger one was coming out of the water at one end of the snake. In the end it was clear, all three houses joined together to stamp out the Slytherin house. In a quick snap of his wand, the sculptures exploded and ice rained all over the lake, melting back to water before touching the surface of the black lake. He turned around and gave a slight chuckle to James, which slowly disappeared when he asked him about what he thought of the muggleborn girl being killed on the train. Bloody bad timing on her part was the first thought that came to Burt’s mind and his almost answer but, he knew better than to give his real answer. ”It is tragedy; she did not even get to see which House she would belong to. Such ignorance and darkness of the people who did this makes my blood boil”lied Burt, it was such a perfect lie and it sounded exactly like the truth. In all fairness he did feel it was a tragedy, which did not need to happen but, more of a tragedy for him not the girl. He had much more to lose than she did, and it did upset him that someone would kill her, but also interfere with his plans. He looked back towards the lake for a quick second and closed his eyes, thinking that girl was not too far away from the age of his daughter; she was 9 when she had been killed.
He opened his eyes and looked back to James who had now answered his question on what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. He nodded to him; he was not to surprise that James wanted to travel the world before just jumping into a career field. He did not blame him either for that way of thinking, Vincent had taken that path, Burt had not but he had a path paved for him by his parents. In fact James did as well, if one thought about it but he wanted to travel the world and see different things, that pathway could always be a backup plan for him if he wanted. ”Now we are getting somewhere James, I don’t blame you. Professor Stone went to school with me, a few years behind, when he graduated he started travelling the world he never settled down until eight years ago”replied Burt, in a pleasant tone looking right at the young Gryffindor. If he wanted to truly travel the world, he should talk to Vince he could point in him the right areas to go if he wanted to learn something special or see something special. ”I suggest talking to Professor Stone, he may not be your Head of house but he could offer some really go insight on travelling” said Burt giving a small smile to James, before he looked back over to the lake. Anything to pull you away from Grey thought Burt as he stared out into the view.

As the professor moved his wand beside James, James kept his own attention on the ice sculptures. As the raven, lion, and badger moved in over the snake to stomp it out. James glanced at Professor Reynolds, wondering for a moment if he felt about Slytherin the same way James did. Aside from his brother, James was not a fan of Slytherins. Take Elias Devereux for example, always trying to steal James's thunder in class and such. It was snakes like Elias that James couldn't stand, and they were the ones who made James despise the house. When the headmaster spoke, James returned his full attention to him. His eyesbrows narrowed together in a little bit of anger. "Mine, too, Professor," he said through gritted teeth. If the killer had been a student like many people were saying, James would bet his money that it was a Slytherin.
The headmaster gave James a response that he had not been expecting at all. If anything, James had expected Professor Reynolds to side with his parents, telling him he could be so much more - or to tell him to take up a job as an auror. James didn't want to do that. He wanted nothing to do with the Ministry because in all honesty, he believed the place to be corrupted. James hated politics and he wanted to stay far away from them. Enough of his family already had roots in the Ministry so he figured he would leave it all to them. If James couldn't travel the world right away, he supposed his backup plan would be to do something else that he enjoyed very well - playing Quidditch. At least that would be a career that his parents would approve of.
James raised an eyebrow at the headmaster as he spoke about Professor Stone. "Really?" He asked, slightly interested. Perhaps the new Transfiguration teacher could give him some tips on how to get started on travelling right out of school, but then again... he was the Head of Slytherin House, and to James that was a little offputting. He shrugged, nonetheless. "I guess I'll have to set a meeting with him," he said, turning back to the lake a moment. The man was a professor, and an adult to boot, so perhaps he wouldn't be as bad as his fellow Slytherin classmates. "Maybe even bounce some pranking ideas off of one another," the Potter boy said with a smirk as he turned his head back to face Headmaster Reynolds.

He nodded at James when he seemed a little surprised that Professor Stone had traveled the world his entire life, yes he had. Stone had been almost to every country Burt could think off, even ones known to be basically almost pure muggle and no magical communities at all. The man would tell those in public he travelled to study different forms of magic and learn all he could about Transfiguration, sure that was part of the reason but Burt knew much better indeed. He knew what his long-time old friend desired above anything else and it wasn’t knowledge. It was the gift of immortality being able to never die, beat death itself. The only source was destroyed decades ago by Dumbledore and his friend, which now their all dead….he wants something he can’t have or posses thought Burt, he protected that thought deep in his mind however. To let that escape and get to know Vince, if he found out Burt knew there was no chance in hell he could live immortal, the man would stop helping Burt, and they would both die thanks to this Unbreakable vow. Why did I do such a thing? thought Burt for a quick second before turning his gaze back to James now, as he had been staring at the lake.
He gave him a little smile and nod; he was very pleased to her that James Sirius Potter, son of the great and famous Harry Potter would set a meeting with Vincent. ”Oh yes he has been everywhere I think by now. You can learn a lot from him, I think he would be pleased meeting you James” said Burt giving the young Gryffindor another smile, before his gaze looked back towards the lake now. He gave a slight laugh to when James said he would bounce off some prank ideas with the Professor maybe. He hoped that Vince would not give the student any more prank ideas, like the Potter boy needed anymore ideas on how to pull pranks on more of the staff and students. ”Oh dear, between you, Ronan, and the Nava boy…I don’t think I can stand any more pranksters or improved ideas” said Burt he gave another chuckle and smile towards James, and then his gaze looked up to the castle for a second. From the distance he could see a woman dressed in yellow robes walking towards where James and he were currently sitting by the lake, he recognized it as Avyanna at once.
Blood damn hell…this woman…I knew I should have found someone else thought Burt as he stood up, he looked down at James and gave a swift nod to him. ”I’ll have to see you later James, Headmaster business is calling it appears. Let me know how it goes with Professor Stone, or stop by if you have any questions, my door always open to you” said Burt his tone was swift but nice as he started walking off towards the older lady in yellow robes. Putting his arm around her he started walking back to the castle with her, dropping his arm to the side. Hopefully this all works thought Burt as he headed back into the castle with the woman.

James had been staring at the lake in the silence that occurred between he and the Headmaster. He turned his head to look over at the professor for a moment and saw that he was also looking out at the lake. For a moment, James wondered what Professor Reynolds was thinking about. His family? His memories with his good friend? James was curious and for a moment wished he could know what Professor Reynolds was thinking. When the professor looked back to James, James turned back to the lake to make it seem like he had not been watching the professor.
James then turned his head, as if to make it seem like he was just looking at the man. James returned the Headmaster's smile. "Could probably give me a few Transfiguration pointers as well," James shrugged jokingly. Jame's smile widened into a proud and guilty grin at the mention of two of his good friend's Sean and Ronan. James loved his friends, and the fact that that all got along and liked pranks to some similar degree made him love them more. He could not have found a better group of friends.
When the professor got up, James looked up to the castle for that was where he was sure the Headmaster had just been looking. But all James could see was some woman dressed in yellow robes and from here he could not recognize her. James stood then as well. "Thank you Headmaster," James nodded appreciatively at the man as he walked off. James couldn't help but watch as he did so. He watched as the Headmaster put his arm around the woman in the yellow robes and James then found himself wondering who on Earth she could be. The prankster in him silently vowed to figure it out.
