There was a loud cracking sound and a whoosh of a cloak as an old man appeared and hurried down into the alleyway of Knockturn Alley. His hood was up and was covering his face, no walking cane was with him this time and he appeared to walk perfectly fine with it. His pace was slow, as his blue eyes scanned the sides of the street his head at his wand, ready for trouble. These recent killings had gotten on Burt’s nerve now a child had been killed on the Hogwarts express, which had gotten Burt much fire from parents. This had struck a central nerve for him because; forever now his career would be tainted with the death of the poor muggle born first year, of course Burt did feel bad for the death of the girl but he felt more bad for himself and the world. If I was Minister, these attacks would be stopped at once thought Burt as he took a turn to the left and into the view on Borgin and Burkes.
He had many dark magic detection items however Burt desired something else. Something that was a bit darker, but that he could bewitch to help him. He might despise the dark wizards and death eaters, but the dark magic they practiced he didn’t hate it. It wasn’t the magic that was the problem, the people who practiced it. He entered the shop and as he did he looked around and saw it was empty and no one was at the counter. He snapped his fingers and the curtains fell over the windows, and the door locked. Making his way to the counter he saw the item he had sent an owl about earlier, it had caught his eyes months before in a book he read about the dark arts. It was a black orb that had grey smoke swirling inside of it slowly. The orb had it’s different backgrounds of what it was suppose to do, but Burt had a different plan for the orb which involved bewitching it.
He took his hood off than dropped a large sack of Galleons on the counter for ma young store clerk who came out of the back, who recognized Burt as a Professor at Hogwarts. The clerk was a recent graduate a year or two, if Burt remembered him right from the school. He gave a slight chuckle and pointed to the orb before saying ”I’m here to pick that up, and you’re not going to tell anyone about me picking it up, I was never here”. His wand was out before he finished the words and pointed it at the clerk whose eyes went white and stumbled backwards, falling to the floor. With a flick of his wand the orb soar to him and him pocketed in his cloak. He smiled at the clerk who was now on the floor asleep, Burt has casted a powerful memory charm altering the man’s memory. The man would remember someone picking the orb up but, anything resembling Burt he wouldn’t remember. Believing the store was empty as far as he knew; he put his hood back up and proceeded to look around the shop once more. The clerk would be out for a while at least, and Burt might something else to take, maybe to help himself.

Petar had found himself in Knockturn Alley, and while it wasn't normally a place respectable wizards and witches went, Professor Kovachev usually went on the hunt for special ingredients for potions that the normal shops in Diagon Alley did not sell. Some were very dangerous, so the black market wizards and witches on Knockturn were more likely to carry them. Petar had a large satchel over his shoulder, betwitched to look like a normal bag but have vast and endless contents. He had put most of his new ingredients in the sack, to put in his potion cupboard when he returned to the school. He had finished up shopping for his ingredients and decided to take a look inside Borgin & Burke's. He never bought anything from in there, as Petar wasn't like other people who shopped in Knockturn Alley, but it was interesting to browse around the shop nonetheless.
He had entered the dark and dingy shop and found that most was unchanged. Many things were still covered in dust from the last time he had visited. How the store was still in business was a mystery to Petar. He was just getting to examine an old trunk when he heard the front door open. Suddenly, the blinds were swishing down and the door locked. Instinctively, Petar hid behind a coat cupboard. Something about the ingency at which this hooded figure entered was suspicious. Petar pulled out his wand from his cloak, in case things got ugly, but was instantly surprised at what he saw.
The wand in his hand lowered and his mouth stood slightly ajar as Petar was staring at Burt Reynolds, the Headmaster, pointing his wand at the young shopkeeper. He spoke low, so Petar couldn't make out what he was saying, but it seemed urgent and important to the old man. Petar watched with interest, raising his wand again. He respected the Headmaster wholly, and wouldn't dream of ever duelling him. Petar trusted his judgment. But it didn't hurt to be ready, just in case the Headmaster himself was somehow bewitched. The Headmaster had then flicked his wand and an orb of some sort went into his robes and the shopkeeper fell to the floor, asleep. Petar didn't let his guard down as he watched the old man begin to scan the store, perhaps for more goods. It was then that Petar decided to make himself known.
"Ah, Headmaster," he said, coming out from behind the cupboard with his wand now tucked safely back in his cloak. Petar did not want to seem at all hostile, as he trusted the Headmaster and he only wanted for him to trust Petar in return. "Funny running into you in this old shop, I must say, I'm a little embarrassed," he said, running his hand through the back of his hair.

His blue eyes scanned the shelves of items in the store each possessing different dark magic abilities and causing different things. Cursed ones where in glass vases and then by the counter was a large silver clock it was strange however as it was blank with no numbers just two hands shaped as snakes. For some reason he became attracted to the silver clock, and walked over to it his hand moved out to touch it. His fingertips just mere centimeters from touching it he waved his hand over it, in intrigue. malum denuntiatum, evil warning thought Burt as he started realizing why he became so interested in the item. His mind raced backed to a thought of a conversation in Paris at Vincent’s house years back, the item was in a picture on a book that he had showed Burt. Vince had told Burt the item was very rare, unique and was not completely known what to do. I must have it, I will have to let Vincent know thought Burt then he turned around as he heard movement behind him and someone say “Headmaster”.
Looking before him was the Potions Professor of Hogwarts Peter. Burt did not know the man very well but he did trust the potions professor and admired his skills despite such his young age. The man said it was quite embarrassing bumping into the Headmaster in this shop, yes it was for him not Burt as much so. Burt did not have to answer to his Professors if he didn’t feel so, he was their boss. His eyes glanced from Peter over to the locked door and closed curtains still the way they were as Burt had left them, then his gaze moved to the young shopkeeper still asleep behind the counter. How much has he seen or heard thought Burt, his blue eyes turning their attention back to Peter. They were not icy or cold but, they were void of emotion and so were Burt’s face as he dropped his hood and gave his Professor a little nod.
”Professor quite puzzling seeing you here indeed. Might I ask how long you have been present?”asked Burt his voice completely calm as his eyebrows raised at the man standing before him. He was not sure how much his Professor had seen, and he was not sure how much he could trust him. He did not trust most people at all, and none knew most of his plans, only Vincent knew about most and the important one, because he was aiding Burt in his goal. He would soon find out where this man stood and if he was going to need to look out for him.

While Petar had indeed noticed the Headmaster the moment he had entered, hastily closing the blinds and locking the door, he was not going to let on to that. He simply put on a delighted and cavalier face as he nodded at the Headmaster. "I was actually captivated by an artifact and I was about to inquire with the shopkeeper about it when - here you are, good sir!" He gestured to the man, a friendly expression on his face.
Never before had Petar felt he had reason to question the Headmaster and his motives, but his being in this particular shop, putting the young shopkeeper to sleep, no less, was quite suspicious to Petar. However if there was one thing that Petar Kovachev had learned in his years it was to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. However, he could not yet be sure if Headmaster Reynolds was indeed an enemy.
Petar decided it best not to ask too many questions, so as to avoid seeming overly suspicious of the old man. "What are you doing in Borgin and Burkes on a day like this?" He decided this was a safe enough question.

The answer did not really please Burt at all he might be an old man but, he was not stupid. In fact age had brought him wisdom at least that was his argument into those questioning his thinking or actions. The answer to Burt was side-stepping the question he had given to the Potions Master. Assuming since the blinds were closed and the door was still locked, and by the answer he was given the Professor had been in the shop and had probably seen Burt take the Orb. Captivated by an artifact…oh yes the one I just took thought Burt he gave a small little smirk at the Professor and took a step closer to him, but still not in his ‘’personal space’’. ”So…nothing seems out of the ordinary to you, Professor” asked Burt, raising an eyebrow to him. The Professor could be quite a dangerous enemy if he spoke of Burt picking up an item from Borgin and Burkes, if it got back to Harry Potter his plans would be in jeopardy. Or worse, his deputy Neville Longbottom could be told, and he had no idea what that man would do with such information. Burt did not trust his deputy that well he admired him, but feared in the back of his mind the man would attempt a coup one day. This man could be the key to all those fears if he told anyone of this. His eyes were void of emotionless as he stared at the young man before him, he was very young indeed.
The man’s youth but yet such talent and skills he posed in Potions did impress Burt very much it was a subject he enjoyed very much, considering his parents had owned a potion shop for a good while. He looked at him and gave a smirk at the question the guy had asked. It was not a direct question; this man was much different that Professor Walton Grey had been in his questioning of Burt. ”Well Professor, I feel you might have seen why I came here today. However; if you want to know my answer which of course is the truth, was to attempt to recover some information on regards of protecting the school, if any students had bought items recently.” replied Burt, the tone was pleasant enough, but in a weird way. Burt’s blue eyes stared right into the eyes of Petar, oh how easily he thought it would to just break into the younger wizards mind. Being a Legilimens, and have trained at it for almost five decades he could detect lies if he focused enough if the person was not experienced in Oculmency, or even read their thoughts, put false memories in their head if he wanted too. Such a young mind, such inexperience, it would be all too easy thought Burt he gave a little smirk as he debated about using that branch of magic on Petar.
For now, Burt put the thought of using it at the back of his mind he didn’t feel he would need to use it and he hoped he wouldn’t. Term had just started and he wanted to at least make it a few months before he had to start bewitching his Professors. The thought of controlling his Professors was a very nice thought that played in his mind for a quick second, a group of slaves to fulfill my goals even further. Of course it was something he would never do unless, his position was truly threatened or his goals. He stood still in place as he thought the idea over and waited for the answer from his Professor, feeling that it would influence the outcome of his current thought.

Petar was indeed highly suspicious of the Professor now. While he had indeed seen an orb-like object between Burt and the shopkeeper, Petar knew better than to say anything. He also knew hardly anything about the Headmaster, and for all he knew it could have been something completely harmless. Petar decided to take another shot in the dark. "Nothing aside from running to you in this part of town," Petar said to the man, not breaking eye contact with him. If there was one thing that Petar Kovachev was good at aside from brewing potions, it was his ability to lie easily. The man had always been able to convince himself to flush out all truths and focus on a lie in the moment, but he had never before come into contact with a Legilimens, so he had never been able to see if they could indeed still see past his lies.
To go along with the lie Petar had just told, he raised an eyebrow at the Headmaster's statement. "You believe students have been sneaking articles of dark magic into the school?" He asked the man. It wouldn't seem all that out of character, considering all that had recently taken place in their world. But Petar refused to forget entirely about the orb-like object. He just decided to leave it alone for now.

It was a foolish move to lie to someone who was trained in the art of Legilmencey, a master of it could easily tell when someone was lying to them. Burt’s eyes never left the man as he kept staring at him watching him and using his powers as Legilimen to see if the man was going to lie to him. As he spoke and said there was nothing out of ordinary to him except, running into Burt in this part of town he gave a little smirk. Foolish young man, good liar, but no match for me thought Burt as he just kept the smirk on his face as he eyed the Potions Master in front of him. He was already sure that the man had seen what Burt had done, to say nothing out of the ordinary was such a bold stated lie, he almost wanted to slap the man. His smirk quickly disappeared and went into a frown. ”Professor, I would ask you not to lie to me. Please go ahead and try that answer to my question again” replied Burt his voice was cool but void of emotion.
He nodded slowly to the man’s question as he believed if students had snuck in articles of dark magic into the castle. It was not such a far-fetched theory, and the theory had sprung from one of his other Professors, the curious cat one Walton Grey. This man is rather talaented but he is playing with fire thought Burt he was about to speak and then he started to hear a groan behind him. Quickly he looked behind him to see the man starting to get up. Rolling his eyes and giving a sort of frustrated sigh, Burt pulled his wand out and moved over to the man once more, he flicked his wand and the man’s eyes went cross eyed and he fell back down again into another deep sleep. This was not part of the plan at all, this man better just adapt thought Burt, in a swift movement he was turned around and looking back at his potions Professor. His wand was lowered, but still withdrew, and he was fast enough still where he was sure he could take the younger man if he needed too. ”Yes I believe there is possible evidence to support that theory. Now Professor, let’s be direct I can’t have you going around blabbing what you have witnessed. Would not look good for me as Headmaster, or the school at all which does need to be in negative light” spoke Burt his tone was flat but blunt as he took a few more steps to the younger man and waited for his response. ”Oh and don’t lie either sir, do I need to remind you I was once Head Auror?”added Burt his wand by his side ready to go.

As Petar watched the old man, there was something about the look in the old man's eyes that said he knew Petar was lying. The Potions Master made very sure to not show any other sign of emotion and kept his expression very blank. He was going to stand by his lie as long as he was able, but by the looks of Burt Reynolds' smirk, it didn't seem like that would be much longer.
As Burt spoke, Petar was a little surprised by his words but he remained blank and silent. He was debating what to say next. Clearly Burt Reynolds was not what he seemed. If Petar did tell the truth, what was to say Reynolds wouldn't cast him asleep as well? Petar thought it best to have his wand ready, so as the Headmaster continued to sleep, Petar's right hand slowly began to reach or his wand in his back pocket. He thought it best to just have his hand on it in case something went astray, for he was certain he could still get on the man's good side.
Finally, Petar spoke up. His tone more flat and serious now. "So that there orb?" He nodded to the old man. "Is that to put a stop to whatever dark articles these students are bringing in?" Might as well cut to the Chase. Obviously Burt knew that Petar had seen an orb and he had seen him knock the clerk out twice now. Petar figured at this point, the ball could be in either of their courts, so he thought he deserved some answers to a few questions.
