ahh, hogsmeade. the place that students yearned for during long nights of studying for exams and attempting to make a dent in the mighty pile of homework they had been given by professors who seemed to have no life apart from coming up with more homework to set. to hogwarts students, it was like a theme park attraction – without, of course, the rides, unless you counted the haunted house, also known as the shrieking shack. it definitely had the appeal that only theme parks could offer, though: options and options of different kinds of sugary, fatty food. it was a well known statistic that students were approximately three kilos heavier the day after the hogsmeade visit, whether it be from heavy consumption of butterbeer or high tea snacks at madam puddifoot’s. for one certain gryffindor girl, however, the main attraction was honeydukes. even the name made her mouth water, and the smell as she entered the shop was enough to make her eyelids flutter. it was a mixture of scents; a hint of salted caramel, indulgent whiffs of thick chocolate, with overtones of acidity from the acid pops. and it had that homely feeling. perhaps that was because honeydukes was like a second home to her apart from hogwarts during term. her parents would give her an allowance of sickles every week, which she saved up until hogsmeade, and would promptly go on a shopping spree of sugar quills and chocolate bars, or her all time favourite – honeydukes special made fudge. she swaggered over to the usual shelf, oozing confidence and anticipation. but something was dreadfully, dreadfully wrong. there was no fudge. a wave of panic swept over her. what!? no fudge? that couldn’t be – she had revolved her whole study schedule around the fudge, she had a four point fudge plan! and now, to have that all ruined? no, she would not let that happen. she would have to march up to the shopkeep, huffed up, and tell them straight. she would say, ”mr. honeyduke, i have been a dedicated patron to your business ever since i was thirteen. and i have never had a problem with you before. but this? this, my good man, is unforgivable. azkaban has taken in better people than you.”but, as she approached the shopkeep, all her anger disappeared and she suddenly looked very afraid. was this a withdrawal symptom? she cleared her throat, gathering his attention, and whispered meekly, ”…fudge?”tagged: // words: 408 outfit: ( link) notes: i was thinking james could join in on her outrage and they eventually help the shopkeep make the fudge together? let me know what you think! |

For years, James Potter had been sneaking his way down to Hogsmeade through the old humpback witch statue, the same one that his grandmother, uncles, and father had used before him. Of course, Harry and Ginny had made sure to sign all of their childrens' Hogsmeade permission slips, but James just found this way to be much more thrilling. As he leisurely strolled down the tunnel, he whistled a tune to himself. Then he came upon the trapdoor that led up to Honeyduke's, one of his absolute favorite stores. He lifted the door up just a tad, looked around the stockroom briefly, and with no sign of anyone, slipped out and quickly leaped for the door that led to the main part of the shop.
The smells were amazing. The colors were bright. It was like Heaven on Earth for James Potter. And if there was one thing he loved more than the chocolate frogs, the lemon drops, or the Bertie Botts, it was Honeyduke's fudge. It was something that he and one of his best friends, Elodie, had bonded fiercely over. James was particularly a fan of the peanut butter fudge and he knew he could surprise Elodie later in the common room if he just scored some huge amount of fudge today. So he quickly made his way over to where the fudge was usually stocked and was instantly disappointed. There was no fudge.
At this, James was first shocked. There was never a shortage of Honeyduke's fudge. Especially not at Honeyduke's. So, James planned to ask the shopkeep if he happened to have any in the back. As he turned around, he started at a determined pace for the main counter and stopped short when he recognized the back of a certain brunette. How typical of her to beat him there.
James appeared at Elodie's side instantly, his arm automatically going over her shoulder. If there was one thing James was good at, it was always coming at the right time. James Potter had impeccable timing. "Sir Honeyduke," he began, looking up at the shopkeep in the most businessman-like way possible. "From what I gather you are out of fudge?" He asked, but didn't wait for a reply. "Well, ya see, my friend here really needs some fudge, or her grades could plummet severely," he said. He needed to up the ante, so he whispered softly, knowing Elodie would play along, "Low blood sugar," he gave a wink to the shopkeep and grinned, awaiting the response he wanted to hear.

the shopkeep peered at elodie for a moment, wondering what she could have possibly meant by her feeble, single word that somehow formulated a question, and she was about to elaborate when a smooth voice came from behind her. she turned her head to see who it was, and she had to hold back a grin as she realised that james potter was here to save the day. in typical gryffindor fashion, he always had his eye out for damsels in distress, and my god, was this situation distressing. and truly, as she recognised the subtle hint to act sickly which wasn’t hard considering the circumstances, the boy was a genius. she went along with the act by coughing meekly, attempting to look frail but instead looked extremely out of place amongst the other smiling faces within the store. however, this seemed to work in the pair’s favour as a look of great concern crossed the shopkeep’s face. ”the batch of fudge won’t be finished until tomorrow, since i – ah, this is confidential, mind – i slept in this morning, couldn’t get it started on time.” the shopkeep explained, his face turning red. ”but you say it’s an emergency, yes?” elodie’s head nodded so rapidly that she felt dizzy. she sneaked a look at james, her quidditch captain and number one test dummy for flirting practice. it was going to work! the shopkeep looked around, giving a quick sweep of the eyes over the store, and ushered them behind the counter, then under the stairs to the basement. there, rows of shelves of untampered ingredients cluttered the stockroom. and right near the back of the room, a large cauldron was brewing. ”look, don’t tell anyone about this, alright? it’ll be my neck if it gets loose that i let a couple of ‘ogwarts students cook the bloody fudge.” elodie’s heart skipped a beat. they were going to… actually make the fudge? her eyes widened as she looked to james. ”just stir it with your wands for about half an hour. that should speed up the process. but blimey, if you two mess this up…” the man’s face turned dark. ”you’ll get a permanent ban. y’hear me?” he sized them up with his eyes, then turned on his heel and trudged back upstairs. elodie squealed and wrapped her arms around james’s neck, squeezing him in a tight hug. ”james potter, you are incredible.” tagged: jamess words: 401 outfit: ( link) notes:// |

As a look of concern crossed the shopkeep's face, James refrained himself from shooting a smirk at Elodie. Instead, he looked up at the man in front of him and put on a look determination. "It is an emergency, sir," he nodded at the shopkeep. James sometimes amazed himself with his skills of persuasion.
As the shopkeep turned to look around, he turned to look at Elodie, whom he caught looking back in return. He smiled and just winked at her in response. James let Elodie follow the shopkeep first and James followed right behind her, as they were led to the back room. James looked around at all of the back stock, amazed at the amount of ingredients there were in the room. Then his eyes fell on the large, brewing cauldron. James stood up straight and help his hand up, as if reciting a pledge. "We will keep our lips sealed," he pretended to zip his lips shut. His eyesbrows wriggled up and down at Elodie, happily. As the shopkeep turned around, James called after him, "You're doing this young lady a great service, sir!"
James turned back to Elodie to be wrapped in her arms as she squeezed him in one of her familiar hugs. James returned the hug, just shrugging as he did so. "I know," he said with a smirk. "So, what'd'ya say we get to brewin' this 'ere fudge?" He said, impersonating the shopkeep whom had just left as he pulled out his wand.

elodie grinned at james’s impersonation. ”blimey, you haf the roy-t idea!” she did her best cockney accent in return, a small pang of guilt hitting her in the stomach, as they were making fun of the guy who had just risked his job just so she could get some fudge. then again, he was a tad bit of an idiot for believing the story in the first place. she approached the daunting cauldron, the large mass of gooey chocolate intimidating her slightly. there was a lot in there, and if the two of them stuffed it up, then it would be a lifetime ban. and a life without honeydukes? what kind of a life would that be! she drew her wand and dipped the tip in the cooking fudge cautiously, giving it a slow stir. a golden streamline followed where she stirred, and she guessed that it meant she was doing it right. ”y’know, this is actually pretty easy. i don’t see how we can stuff it u-“those, of course, were elodie’s famous last words, as she suddenly realised she wasn’t holding her wand anymore, which meant in the ‘easy’ stirring, she had accidentally dropped it into the mixture without noticing. her eyes widened, choking on her words, then began gesticulating madly, gasping at what she had just done. ”oh, bugger!” this was followed by a stream of colourful language that would cause anyone over the age of fifty to clutch at their hearts. she turned desperately to james. ”please tell me you’re good at summoning charms.” she knew it wouldn’t be the end of the world – they were both magic, after all, and together, there wasn’t many minor problems that they couldn’t solve. however, she had perhaps just stuffed up the one task that would avoid them being kicked out of honeydukes forever. that would be bad enough for her, but having the blame for the ban on james fall on her head? mortifying. tagged: james! words: 326 outfit: ( link) notes: feel free to have james save the day or make it worse! |

James had thought of Elodie as one of his best friends since they met first year. And when they both became teammates on the Quidditch team, he only cemented their friendship further. The fact that Elodie was a cute girl that James could flirt and mess around with and neither of them develop any weird feelings was just a plus. Elodie was one of the coolest girls, and that's what James liked about her so much. They had always been able to laugh at the same stuff, like now for instance, as they both were poking fun at the man who had forgotten to make fudge. Now they were doing his job for him. It's like they deserved some type of award.
As Elodie dipped the tip of her wand into the fudge, James followed suit. He began stirring slowly as well, nodding in agreement when Elodie had almost finished her sentence - then James stopped and his eyes widened for a moment, as he realized Elodie had dropped her wand into the cauldron of fudge. Elodie began cursing a string of colorful words as James sat there, unsure of what to do until Elodie spoke to him. "Uhh," he said, his eyes circling around the cauldron. Elodie didn't have her wand, so it seemed James had to quickly be good at summoning charms. "Uhh, accio wand!" He said, flinging his wand at the cauldron.
Almost as quickly as it had fallen in, Elodie's wand came shooting straight up out of the cauldron. Fudge shooting up in the air with it. While it wasn't the whole lot of the fudge, it was still enough to shower down on the two Gryffindors. James jumped up, grabbing Elodie's fudge covered wand out of the air, fudge landing on his face as he did so. Planting his feet safely back on his ground seconds later, he grinned, handing Elodie her wand. It was quite sticky, but after a good wash it would probably be fine.
James then peaked back over the cauldron, staring into the thick fudge. "Y'don't think that would'a messed anything up, do ya?" James asked uncertainly. Not one to normally care for rules, James hardly cared with things went awry. But considering this was one of his favorite places in the world, he was not looking to get banned anytime soon for messing up the fudge.

fudge rained down on the pair, hot and thick and drenching them in the rich scent of chocolate, their clothes sprayed unevenly with the embarrassing colour of brown. elodie had a smear of it across her cheeks and nose, like a child’s attempt at war paint. her eyes were wide with shock, her mouth slightly agape, but the corners of her lips were twitching with a smile. things weren’t looking good now – masses of melted chocolate fudge were all over the shelves and the floor. but, it was hilarious. james did a very impressive jump in the air and caught her flying wand, a testimony to his seeking ability in quidditch. her slightly open mouth slowly turned into a grin as he handed her the wand, slightly sticky and aromatic but still intact. then, she started laughing. a hysterical fit of laughter. she looked at her friend, tears in her eyes as a result of the giggles, and gestured to the cauldron. ”considering about half the fudge is now on the walls, we might be in a spot of danger here.” her smile didn’t fade, but her eyes looked distinctly worried now. of course, she could mutter a quick scourgify and reverse the mess that they had made, the fudge on the floor transporting back into the cauldron, but that ran the risk of dirt from the room going into there as well. she bit her lip, which happened to have some fudge on it. her eyebrows raised. ”still tastes amazing, though.” she said, slightly surprised. tagged: james words: 256 outfit: ( link) notes: (n/a) |

At the sight of Elodie, James grinned widely. The fudge spread on her cheeks was very funny looking to him. He took his hand and smeared one of the streaks on her cheek even further down her cheek to her chin. He was grinning so cheekily and wide noe that his eyes were squinting, happily. "I will admit, seeing you covered in fudge was worth it," he shrugged at her, moving back to stand next to the giant cauldron. It was a bit of a pickle they were now in, but James knew that he and his Gryffindor friend could find a way out of it.
"Hmm..." James pondered, his index finger tapping his chin as he did so. "I guess we could just clean the place up and carry on? I don't suppose that old bloke would notice? Besides, he was the one who forgot to make fudge and let us in here!" James gestured to the door that the shopkeep had left through. James flicked his wand at the door, the lock clicking. "That should give us some time to at least come up with a good plan," for the time being he tucked his wand back into his robes.
James looked back over at Elodie and let out a little laugh. "I dunno about you though, I think this fudge suits you," he raised an eyebrow at her, eyeing her fudge covered body up and down. James was quite covered in fudge as well, but he always liked teasing Elodie a bit. It was always fun, and knowing Elodie she would probbly do the same to him.

elodie squinted and pulled a very grumpy face as james messed up her face even more with fudge. then, at his comment about her being covered in fudge being worth it, she laughed and struck a few poses. ”well, it’s not my usual look, but i think i make it work.” she retorted, and winked, beginning to use her wand to summon up some of the leftover fudge from the floor and drawing it into a decent sized ball mid air. then, with a simple, yet well aimed flick of her wand, the ball splattered onto james. ”sorry, jay, just testing to see if my wand still worked.” she joked. james locked the door, and elodie nodded at his plan of buying enough time to actually think of a real plan. but him pointing his wand at the door drew her eyes to the shelves nearby, and elodie noticed that they were stacked with jars of different ingredients. she narrowed her eyes, walking over to it and examining each jar. her eyebrows raised. there was everything from hazelnuts and toffee bits, to frogs eyes and blood syrup, and a jar choc-full of a questionable substance which looked a bit too much like cow dung for the gryffindor girl’s liking. ”what if we…” she thought for a moment. ”what if we make up for lost fudge by adding in some of these ingredients?” she gestured to the jars, her hand conveniently not pointing out the more, ah, foreign foods. she picked up the jar of hazelnuts and tossed it to her friend. ”they sell hazelnut fudge here, don’t they? and peanut butter? what if we made up our own combination?! she mused to james, getting more and more excited. after all, they had so many flavours at their fingertips! marshmallows and popping candy and raspberry sauce, oh my! tagged: james! words: 307 outfit: ( link) notes: (n/a) |

James watched Elodie as she struck her poses, grinning at her as she did so. James had always thought Elodie to be a very attractive girl. In the past, they had had their fun, flirting back and forth and messing around every now and then but for some reason as James looked at her now and thought about how pretty Elodie had always been... he couldn't think about Aurora Lestrange. Which was weird, because usually James could only ever focus on whatever girl was in front of him at the time.
Perhaps it was Elodie's dark hair that reminded him so much of the Ravenclaw... but he had never once before looked at a girl and thought of someone else. It was new to him. Luckily, he was brought out of this trance when he felt a ball of fudge splatter onto him. He blinked for a moment but then a grin appeared again as he looked at Elodie. "Always smooth, Wood," he shook his head with a smile.
James followed Elodie's eyes, then, to the shelves near them. As Elodie's eyes widened, James's did as well. Some of the ingredients looked appetizing while others looked downright disgusting. James made a slightly disgruntled face at Elodie's suggestion. "As long as we stay away from the dung looking stuff... he said uncertainly. Years of Quidditch had done wonders to James's reflexes, as he caught the jar of hazelnuts with ease. "Now these I could work," he nodded. James shrugged at his friend. "Sure, you know I'm always down for a challenge," he said. It couldn't hurt to experiment.

james had gone quiet for a split second, just long enough for elodie to notice he was looking at her – no, more staring at her. she blinked, looking at him back, but her ball of fudge to the face brought him back in an instant. elodie herself had always considered james to be something slightly more than a friend, but nothing more than slightly. she was attracted to him, sure, but she knew that so was just about every other girl at hogwarts in his immediate vicinity. it had bloomed into a crush in her third year, as attractions do when you’re so close to the person you’re attracted to, but elodie had all too quickly detected a pattern in james: he was not going to settle down for one girl, not even her. that all seemed like so long ago. he was one of her best friends, and she didn’t have any crush-like feelings for him anymore. though, secretly, when she saw him hitting on particular girls, she smiled sadly before she could stop herself, trying not to think about why it wasn’t her. ”aw, you ruin my fun. i’ve always wanted dung flavoured fudge.” she teased sarcastically, scanning the shelves for another ingredient to add in. she spied a jar of peanuts, and tossed it to james, looking back at him. ”you better start adding them in, or soon you’re going to be juggling,” she said, grinning, selecting another jar of what looked to be popping candy, though when she pressed her ear to it, she could hear tiny explosions. they looked tasty, and also a bit exciting. she absently tossed it to james as well, not really thinking about what could happen if it went wrong. after all, they were seventh years. the confundus charm wasn’t a hard one to muster. tagged: james words: 342 outfit: ( link) notes: what girl HASN’T crushed on james, c’mon! |

James sarcastically rolled his eyes at Elodie. He had always liked their similar sense of humor, as Elodie was one of the very few girls in Hogwarts that could make James actually laugh with a joke she would say. When Elodie tossed the jar of peanuts to James, he caught it with ease. The Seeker reflexes came in handy more often than not in day to day life, surprisingly enough. The skill was practically in his blood. His grandfather had been a Seeker, and so had his father. Even James's mother had been a Seeker for a short time, though she preferred the Chaser position. It was only natural that James Sirius had become a Seeker during his schooling career.
James playfully glared at Elodie for her comment as he screwed off the lid to the peanuts and dumped the entirety into the cauldron of fudge. With his wand, he quickly stirred them in to the mixture. Then, quickly and right on time, James turned to see Elodie tossing another jar to him. The throw was a little off, but leaning to his left, James caught it. He held the jar up to eye level, looking into it. "What are these?" He asked, curiously. James was no stranger to Honeydukes but these definitely didn't look familiar. He unscrewed the lid and peeked into the jar and heard tiny explosions. He began to wonder what would happen if he did add this to their fudgey concuction.
