He had only arrived at the school a week ago, receiving the offer to teach at the school from his old friend, the Headmaster. Vince got up from the desk of his office and gathered some papers and got up moving to the door leading out to his classroom. He had not had time to get know students before classes started, so he would just introduce himself when class started. He taken the liberty to merge his fifth and sixth year classes for the time being, something the Headmaster had suggested saying other Professors were doing that as well. Walking out into his classroom he looked around, he had decorated it himself. Pictures of different monuments from all over the world aligned the walls along with pictures of Vince with people he met on his travels. Some of the people in the photos looked normal, however some looked very bizarre and almost evil in some ways, tribal make up, weird headdress and etc.
There were rows of desks for enough students, at the front of the room where two long tables that had cages sitting on. In the cages where kittens in some, and in the others appeared to be mice. He had decided for the first lesson, he would go over the Vanishment branch of Transfiguration. It was a difficult branch of magic, more difficult for his fifth years that would be tested on it this year. He expected his sixth years to be more knowledgeable in it, which is why he decides they would vanish kittens, something extremely difficult, while fifth years practiced on mice. He flicked his wand at the chalkboard and in bright green emerald letters of his house colors appeared on the chalkboard reading “Welcome to Transfiguration, Lesson One Exploring Vanishment Magic, and Professor Vincent Lore Stone”.
He took a seat at his desk and he waited for his students to show up so he could start the class, the clock showed at least ten more minutes before class started. Kicking his feet up, he pointed his wand at one of the kittens, flicking his wand back and forth. He transformed the kitten into a statue and then back again. He smiled loving this branch of magic more than mostly any other branch of magic, the kitten hissed in distaste at the fun Vince was having transforming into stone and back. Need something to have the time go by thought Vince as he glanced at the clock once more, then resumed transforming the kitten, vanishing it, then making it reappear once more.

"Holy shit!" It was the first thing that Lien Hua said upon entering the classroom, and, in hindsight, it might not have been the best introduction.
She had been tentatively looking forward to the class - they had gotten a new professor, so he could be better, right? Transfiguration was always one of her toughies, and she didn't enjoy it very much. True, the 'Puff had managed to get to N.E.W.T.S., but that was mostly because of the most ridiculously intense studying she did. When Lien Hua wrote something down in an essay, she frigging knew what she was talking about. There was no bs-ing, no pussyfooting or bushing around the topic, and even if that meant she was sometimes short, she'd rather have it be short, concise, and with all the good information, than drag on and ooooon without actually telling anything. She was pretty darn sure that the teachers appreciated that, too.
Either way, she was mildly hopeful for her Transfiguration class - it couldn't be worse, right? Especially as this first day was finangled with the fourth and fifth years, too - it was encouraging. It likely meant he wanted to know where they were at, knowledge-wise (she wasn't a Ravenclaw, but that didn't mean she couldn't use rational thinking, either!), which would probably be an easier class period, especially given that the seventh years weren't there. She wasn't super keen on getting taught the exact same things they were - chances were that it was going to be super duper difficult, if that was the case. Partnered with younger kids? Probably better! At least, that was what made rational sense to her... But she wasn't a Ravenclaw. This was true. So no one should take her at her word!
She was always fast in the hallways, always - why be slow, when you can zip from place to place? And it was that which led her to be the first one into the classroom, glancing around and immediately laying eyes on her teacher, who was- vanishing a kitten!? Hence where the "Holy shit!" came in. Thankfully, Lien Hua managed to pick her jaw up from the floor a few moments later, stepping in with wide eyes and approaching the front of the room, instead of grabbing a seat. "Sorry! Is that-" The 'Puff struggled for words for a moment, a bit embarrassed, but continued. "That's not hurting the kitten, right?"
One would think it wouldn't. But. The kitten was also hissing so who knew.

Transfiguration was a decent subject, of course. It was one of those blatantly magical aspects of magic that couldn't be anything but magic. I mean, turning something into a completely different thing object than what the originally was was the epitome of magical workings. It was a very important thing for wizards and witches to know, and so it was one of Joffroi's favorite classes.
Ironically, he almost always seemed to enter classrooms behind Lien Hua. And he wasn't all that happy about it, either. He did not bear a personal grudge to the Hufflepuff, but he did feel annoyed by her loud and ditzy personality. He was one of those folks who preferred peace and quiet over craziness.
But anyway, he entered into the classroom, quite exited to begin the day's lesson. Any new transfiguration spell they were going to learn was bound to be an exciting one. However, when the lad walked into the room after his Hufflepuff companion, he stopped to stare with a raised eyebrow at the kitten being transfigured into a statue.
He personally liked cats. He had a cat of his own at school, Janvier. However, he was interested in what Professor Stone had in store for them. Plus, he once again he felt a surge of irritation form in him when Lien Hua exclaimed loudly. He glanced at her from the corner of his eye, thinking that she was totally overreacting. Sure, the poor beast didn't like what was happening to it, but its reaction seemed more out of anger and fear than pain.
So, once again, he left Lien Hua to her own devices babbling with the professor before class even started and took his seat in the front row. He liked to claim the front rows whenever he came into class first because he could see the professor's demonstrations better.

Transfiguration
fourth to sixth years Leonore liked almost all of her classes, because she was always at her best in academics--and trust me, seldom is she ever convinced that she's the best in anything. So wherever she could actually do her best in anything, she relished the opportunity to do so. And Transfiguration was one of them, definitely.
As usual, she quietly made her way to the classroom, doing her best to be unnoticeable and indiscreet, for the last thing she wanted to do was attract attention upon her. That was easy to do, since the girl seemed capable of being clumsy, even if she was doing a simple task such as walking down the corridors. Well, actually, walking down the corridors (with even and smooth rugs) was easy enough, but doing so while being crowded by a bunch of other students wasn't. She didn't mean to be claustrophobic, but she couldn't help but feel so insecure and shy around a single person, let alone a group. They were obviously better than her and were most likely judging her behind her back.
And just as in Charms class, Leonore entered after Lien Hua and Joffroi. She gasped, bewildered to see Professor Stone transfigure a kitten into what his last name was--stone. She watched with wide eyes as he turned it back into its living form, and the poor thing was distraught by that.
Leonore couldn't help it. She blurted out, "I-is he alright?" Assuming that the cat was a tom. But realizing she might have said something out of turn and displeasing to the professor, her face went red. "U-um, sorry. It's just...I was....worried about him...he looks...erm, upset." Wow, smart thing to say. Way to go Leonore She gulped and ducked her head. "I'll go sit now." And she would learn to keep her mouth shut the next time she saw something that surprised her, unless she wanted to spout out irritable nonsense.
She turned around and headed toward the back of the classroom, where she sat down on a desk on which she placed her books and supplies, and waited with the utmost patience for other students to fill the classroom. She wasn't going to complain if she got a few moments to herself before having to share her surroundings with a number of people. But at the same time she was keenly interesting about their lesson.

Lily came all but skipping into class, Transfiguration had been paired up with the sixth years this lesson and though that may not be a permanent thing at least for now it would mean a very entertaining class. Her messenger bag was slung over her shoulder with her hair down today she was so pumped for class but when she walked in she felt a little overwhelmed by the idea of it. There were a few students scattered here and there and two of the girls seemed to be freaking out over what the Professor was doing. Making her way to the front Lily tossed her bag onto a desk in the second row behind some eager busy body Slytherin boy who had already taken the front row before turning her attention towards the Professor and the two girls. They were both freaking out over the kitten that the Professor was working with and she rolled her eyes at the Hufflepuff girls loud and boisterous reaction so a vanishing spell.
"I highly doubt a Professor would torture an animal on the first day of class, I hear they save that for you know second day," She mumbled absently as she pulled out her notebook for the class and her sugar quills setting them to the side before propping herself lazily on the edge of her desk eying the annoyed kitten.
She glanced towards those she would be studying with today and it looked like a pretty even mix of houses so far though girls were currently out numbering boys. Still a Puff, a Claw, a Snake, and a Lion surely this class would be interesting enough even if all they did was a paper from approved material out of the text which probably wasn't likely. She eyed the mice warily in the next cage.
"Do we get to do that?" She was curious about what the lesson might hold especially since she was in a mixed year class.

Scorpius had heard of Vincent Stone and was actually rather excited to meet him. He was planning on arriving in class early in order to get alone time to introduce himself, but a few kids were already there when he arrived. He sighed, approaching the front of the classroom and offering a hand to the Professor, "Hello, Professor Stone. I'm Scorpius Malfoy, I'm in Slytherin house so I'll think we'll be seeing a lot of each other, Sir." Scorpius gave him a small bow and walked to a seat in the front row, sitting down with a smile on his face.
He loved transfiguration, it may even be his best subject, but he knew that he really couldn't pinpoint one subject that he was the best at. If he had to though, it would be this one. The professor already seemed like a no nonsense kind of guy at first glance which was exactly the kind of man that Scorp respected. He was interested in the ideas of vanishing, of course, and he contemplated how best to go about starting. He opened his textbook and started to skim the chapter they would most likely be reading, waiting for class to officially start. Unlike in other classes, he didn't socialize right away, he wanted the Professor to know he meant business.
