Abby was ready to have some fun, and where else do you find it other than in the library? Hah, no. Abby was studying. It was a rare occurrence, but even she wanted to graduate in the few short months when the ceremony would commence. She had to get good marks if she wanted to do the Auror training program, and so she occasionally had to do some hard work.
So, here she was. Feet propped up on the bookshelf beside her, book in hand, leaning back in a cozy arm chair and trying her best to take in the words she was reading. She was in a quiet corner, but not hiding by any means but simply just trying to focus. It was hard for Abby to focus on one thing at a time, especially when that thing was homework.
Plus, she was busy trying to save the world, so there was that. She chuckled at the thought before glancing up at the sound of someone approaching...

Rina was happy to say the least that her OWLs were over; fifth year had been one of the biggest nightmares of her life. Sixth year however, had brought Alchemy, and though it bore similarities to Potions, which was one of her favorites, she wasn't doing quite as well as she had hoped. Tonight the Gryffindor Common Room seemed more rowdy than usual, though that may have been due to the new curfew instilled by Headmaster Longbottom. She hoped that the library would offer more solace for her studying.
Rina entered the library to find it a little more crowded than usual; she walked towards the back, hoping to find an empty corner somewhere quiet. She turned the corner and saw Abby Shacklebolt with her feet propped up on a bookshelf. Her face broke out into a smile as she made her way towards the older girl. "Abby! Trying to escape the common room as well?" she asked her, shifting her back to the other shoulder. It may have not been the best idea to take her other books with her instead of leaving them in her dormitory.

"Irina, hey!" she said with a bright smile on her face. She was a big fan of Irina Krum. Good heart, good soul. As far as Abby could tell, she was definitely someone worth recruiting into Phoenix Rising. She brought her feet down, gesturing to a chair beside her. "Have a seat! How's the day been?" she asked. Abby wasn't really one for small talk, so the little conversations they were having here and there wouldn't last long but she understood the function of pleasantries. Her smile never left her face though as she contemplated the strange nature of conversation...
It was nice to have a distraction from her homework. She took the opportunity to close the book and plant her feet in front of her in order to face Irina. She placed her elbows on her knees, leaving the book on her thighs so rest for the moment. Eh, who was she kidding? She probably wouldn't open it again now that there was something to talk to!

Rina smiled and graciously took the seat across from Abby. She had of course come to the library for studying and getting some homework fun, but to be honest she was alright with the distraction. Perhaps she was working herself too hard; she had felt more stress than usual lately. It might have had something to do with the fact that her mother was still pushing Quidditch on her with every letter, and by throwing herself into her studies she could ignore them for now at least. It would do her good for a night off. "Can you believe how crazy the library is now?" she commented, tucking her legs underneath her to get more comfortable.
"I mean, I guess it makes sense. With the curfew and everything people are probably feeling cabin fever and are looking to go anywhere but the common room," she added after a moments thought. It was of course the reason she was there as well and she imagined the same went for Abby. "So, how is everything going with you?" she asked.

Abby nodded and rolled her eyes at Irinas comment about how crazy the library was. It wasn't a surprise, what with the term coming so close to an end. The thought made Abby's stomach fill with butterflies. Her last term of school, graduation... "yeah, the seventh years are especially panicking. Granted, you've got a lot on your plate too," she said. Sixth year wasn't an easy one. Irina had a goo point too, though. Everyone was probably all sorts of cooped up and needed somewhere else to be during the day when they were allowed out of their rooms. "Tell me about it. Quidditch practice is the only place I have any sanity nowadays," in all reality it wasn't much different than the last seven years. Quidditch was always a place of clarity for her. Granted, she had found peace in other places before her father died. But now... well, everything seemed to be wrapped in chaos, and not the good kind. "Everythings fine," she said, which was partly true. Everything she had control over, at least. "Little weird with James having a girlfriend and all," she chuckled. James, her best friend and once snogging partner with a girl on his arm. The same one every day! It was bizarre. Irina Rose Krum

Rina gave a small smile at the mention of Quidditch. A sport which she loved watching, but could never get into playing, no matter how much her mother wanted her to. Still, she was always excited to watch Abby and the rest of the Gryffindor team play out on the pitch, regardless of weather conditions. "How's the team doing any way? Please tell me this year we'll get the Cup," she asked her. She hoped this year would bring a little cheer to the Gryffindor house, with Jayden and Albus' injuries and overall lower morale in the Common Room.
She chuckled at James' mention. James and her had had a little thing summer before fourth year, but it had been young and innocent and ended quickly when they realized they were better off as friends. She had seen him around with the girl a few times, but with their busy schedules she hadn't been able to talk to him about it. "What's this girl like anyway? I've never met her before," she asked Abby.

Abby shook her head as Irina mentioned the cup. "Well, we lost to Slytherin so... that's not a good sign," she sighed. James wasn't too happy about that. But granted, he entire team had a lot to worry about right now. Most of the team was part of Phoenix Rising anyway, so they were really focused on all that at the moment. Still, it would have been nice to have a bit of a pick me up. "We'll be playing Hufflepuff in a few weeks, and I think we'll do great. Cordelia is a good captain though so it'll be a challenge. All the teams are great this year, which is nice," she said, though there was bitterness in her tone. Bitterness at Theo beating her in the Quidditch match. As Irina asked about Aurora, Abby shrugged. "Eh, she's nice. Smart and classic, you know. Not really James's usual type," she chuckled. Irina Rose Krum

Irina smiled as Abby described Aurora and chuckled. Yes, perhaps classic and smart wasn’t really James’s type, but she wouldn’t necessarily give him a real type. He had dated a range of different girls, herself included, and she didn’t really find too much in common with any of them and herself. “I’m glad he’s happy then, that’s what matters in the end right? That we all end up happy?” she said, half to herself. She hadn’t really dated since James – it wasn’t as though she was hung up on him, but more like she felt that she hadn’t met the right guy. That didn’t matter too much now; she was sixteen and had plenty of time to worry about that later. She didn’t have to marry anyone she met at Hogwarts necessarily, in fact she was sure her mother at least would prefer if she didn’t.
“Do you ever wonder what’s out there waiting for us after we graduate? What kind of adventures are out there?” she asked suddenly, closing her book and looking over at her friend. Ever since her chat with Lily about searching for Camelot this summer a growing sense of impatient wanderlust had settled over her, and she couldn’t quite kick it.

"That’s what matters in the end right? That we all end up happy? Do you ever wonder what’s out there waiting for us after we graduate? What kind of adventures are out there?" the girl was brining up a lot of deeper points, ones that Abby often tried to refrain from talking about before this year. However, she had finally made a decision of what she wanted to do. "I don't wonder, really," she started, "I don't feel like things will happen to me. I'll happen to them," she chuckled, shrugging along with it. "I like surprises, sure, but it's really hard for anything to... catch me off guard, I guess. I'm going to be an auror, well that's the hope, so I'm sure a lot of crazy things will happen to me... what about you? What do you wonder about out there?" Abby chose not to comment on the 'being happy matters in the end' part of her words. She wasn't sure she knew what happiness was, in all honesty and she was sure she didn't want to talk about it or it's illusions. Irina Rose Krum

Irina chuckled at Abby’s comment about her happening to things. It made sense to her; Abby was a vivacious person who didn’t seem to let many things affect her. She could easily see Abby being a successful Auror; fighting the bad guys on a regular basis. She didn’t seem to want to talk about the happiness bit though, so she dropped the subject. “I am pretty much set on being a Curse-Breaker, possibly for Gringotts. I know Professor Aminev was a curse breaker before she became the History of Magic professor so hopefully I’ll get to talk to her more about it,” she told her.
Somewhere in the library, the clock chimed, signaling the time. Irina looked over at Abby. “It’s just curfew now,” she said, and began to pack her things. “Do you want to head back to the Common room with me?” she asked, zipping her rather heavy bag and hoisting it up over her shoulder.

"Cursebreaker? That sounds awesome. I haven't really looked into that one," she really could be good at it, though. All that travelling and problem solving. Still, she was afraid it was more brains than anything at times and she'd prefer to have a job where she's constantly active. That that aurors always were... then Irina announced it was curfew and Abby nodded, gathering her own bag and books and standing. "Yeah, let's see if there's anyone else who needs someone to walk with," ever since the first Phoenix Rising meeting, Abby had been pretty strict about people not walking anywhere alone. After finding two other Gryffindors they headed out, back toward the Common Room for the night. Irina Rose Krum (le ennnd)
