There are few places that make one feel warm and at home. This street was that place for Teddy Lupin. The quaint cottages lined the dark streets that were lit by the street lamps. He could remember how many times he walked these streets on summer nights when he needed some time to think to himself while visiting his godfather and his family. Godric's Hollow had actually become home for Teddy. The Potters were like his brothers, his sister, and his parents. Teddy never had those things, so they were the closest thing he had.
It had been four years since Teddy had walked down this street. As he made his way down the sidewalk, he could see the familiar house at the end of the street, a single light on the ground level in a window told him that his godfather must still be up. Teddy stopped for a moment, staring at the house. He had practically grown up there. And he had basically left with hardly any explanation.
After school, Teddy had gone to work for the Ministry as an auror in training. He had always wanted to be one just like his godfather. However, it was shortly after he entered the training program that he and his long time girlfriend had split up. Vicoire Weasley. How he loved her. How he would do anything for her, even to this day. The breakup had been amicable, but Teddy was heartbroken. He loved Victoire very much, but he wanted her to be happy and if that meant splitting up with her, then that was what he would do. A few short months later, Teddy was just about to finish up his training when he got word of the new trainees that would soon be entering the program. On the list was Victoire's name. Immediately, Teddy felt himself spiraling into a depression he feared he could not face. So, without any word, he just quit his job. Without reason, he left the Potters and his grandmother behind.
Teddy moved to Italy for a few short months and then found his way to Greece. He lived by the sea for three and a half years and began writing. Fiction, mostly. And he found that he was fairly good. It was a talent he never knew he had. He found solace in writing, especially fictional stories, as they helped him forget about his own story, and the reason he left Britain. It helped him forget about Victoire, whom he still loved very much. It helped him forget that he had left all of his family and friends behind just because he couldn't face working alongside the girl he still loved. It helped him forget that he hated himself for that.
Teddy finally took a deep breath, and then continued his march toward the house at the end of the street. He reached the front door, and lifted his hand to knock but stopped momentarily. He had not considered how upset everyone just may be with him for leaving. Teddy had not left a number, an address, or even a clue as to where he was going. Just a note, saying goodbye. Finally, he knocked on the door. He took another deep breath, knowing that this was his family and they would still accept him no matter what. He hoped.

It was late at night as Harry sat in an armchair in the living room of his house in Godrics Hollow. It wasn't the same house his parents had lived in. For he and Ginny had decided to get rid of that house and build on of their very own. It was rather large but it was home. Granted for Harry home was where ever Ginny was. He had just gotten home himself from finding yet another dead Auror, just out of training. It had been a few years since Teddy had left without a note or anything. He knew that his godson needed his space, especially after he had broken up with Victorie Weasley. He wasn't sure why he had been thinking about the boy. At first he was a little upset just like everyone else was. Shortly after though he had sat down with Ginny who was beyond angry that Teddy just suddenly left, and talked to her about, and afterwards they were no longer as angry or upset. He really was like another son to them. As he sat there he felt the wards shift a little as someone stepped through them, there were only a few people that could come through the wards, namely family and friends. There were only a few people that would come here this late and he just hoped whom ever it was had a good reason for doing so. He looked out the window and saw a person walking towards the house.
Harry jumped out of his seat, drawing his wand as he did so and rushed to the front door. Once he heard the knock he pointed his wand at the door and it opened to reveal the last person that he had expected to see for some time yet. He knew that the boy had started to become depressed shortly after the list of trainee Aurors had come out. He put his wand away, for he didn't even really need it since he could preform any type of magic wandlessly. "Well, well, look who decided to show up." He said in a joking manner before he said, "Get in here Teddy. It is great to see you again." They had a lot to catch up on but first he wanted to see the boy,who was he kidding, he was a man now. He smiled a little as he stepped to the side to give Teddy room to come into the entrance hall.

If there was one thing Teddy had regret about, it was leaving Harry and Ginny. They were the closest thing to a mother and father that he had. He never knew his, and his grandmother didn't count for she was his grandmother. He still loved her of course, but Harry and Ginny had practically accepted him as an honorary Potter. James, Albus, and Lily were like his siblings. He loved all of them, and it killed him that he had left them the way he did.
When Teddy had knocked, he had a moment when he imagined Harry or Ginny answering the door and being completely irate at the sight of him. Of course, he wouldn't blame them if they did. He deserved it for the way he had deserted them, his family, all to avoid further heartbreak from a girl. A girl who was actually a part of this family. That was another downer about coming back to Godric's Hollow. Victoire had spent a lot of time with him there and the memories were in full swing as he sat there waiting for someone to answer the door.
At last, somebody answered and Teddy looked up from the ground to meet their eyes. Their in front of him stood his godfather. Not much about him had changed in four years. Teddy was still taller than him, his hair was still disheveled as it always had been. And he didn't seem mad.
"Well, well, look who decided to show up." Teddy looked back at the ground sheepishly, then gave his godfather a guilty smile. "It's good to see you, too, Harry," he said, accepting the invitation inside and stepping through the doorway. It was just as he remembered it, except for a few new pictures of his honorary siblings who had since grown. James was just turning fourteen when Teddy left, Albus was twelve, and Lily was nearly eleven. In the new pictures, he could tell that Albus and James had grown into young men and Lily, whom he had always been closest with, had grown into a beautiful young girl. "All at school, I assume?" Teddy asked, turning back around to face Harry. He already knew the answer, but he just felt a bit awkward. He felt bad for leaving and he didn't know what to say or how to apologize, therefore he was acting a bit awkward.

"All at school, I assume?" Harry smiled as Teddy came into the house and looked at the new pictures. He closed the door and then turned back towards Teddy as her heard the question. "Yup. They are all at school. It is kind of crazy how fast time flies." He looked at the pictures of his kids and realized just how fast they were all growing up. Even Teddy had grown some. "You are lucky that Ginny isn't down here to greet you the last time we talked about you she wanted to hex you with her famous bat bogey hex. And I am sure she still does. But we won't tell her that you are home. So your safe for now." Harry informed his godson. His wife was still mad at Teddy for leaving even though Harry had tried his best to reassure her that he was fine.
"You know I was upset at first that you left but then yet again, I wasn't surprised that you did. So why don't you tell me how Italy and Greece were." He stated while making eye contact with Teddy. Harry knew that Teddy had tried to disappear for a while. So he simply asked a friend of his, Walton Grey, who is part of the International Aurors to find out where his godson was at. He didn't mind that the boy had runoff, he was probably still trying to get over the fact that he had broken up with Victorie. Everyone needed time to figure things out. But he could tell that Victorie had been miserable and also depressed, just like Teddy had been and probably still was a little bit. "Also tell me how are you holding up after everything that happened?" He asked hoping that his godson would open up and explain just a little as to why he had runoff without telling anyone. They had always been able to talk to each other about anything and Harry also hoped that Teddy still trusted him to do that.

Teddy nodded, as he continued to look at the new photos of James, Albus, and Lily. He had missed them terribly while he was gone. Growing up, they were truly like his best friends, and being without them for so long really hurt Teddy. He found himself wishing they were here now, instead of away at school. "Yeah, it sure does," was all Teddy could quietly manage to say.
At the mention of Ginny, Teddy managed a chuckle. He loved his godmother dearly, but knew she had quite the temper. Teddy figured, out of all of his family, she would probably be the most angry about his leaving and even returning. "Well, I'm excited to see her nonetheless," he smiled at Harry. Teddy was sure that after a few minutes of yelling and scolding, Ginny would be happy to see him after all.
Teddy was not surprised that Harry, too, had initially been upset with his leaving but Teddy had to admit he was relieved when Harry said he wasn't surprised as to why Teddy left. It was hard for Teddy to leave, and he had loathed himself for so long for leaving his family because of a girl. But to Teddy Lupin, Victoire Weasley wasn't just any girl. Teddy was certain that she was indeed the love of his life. He figured it was high time to tell Harry exactly why he had left.
So why don't you tell me how Italy and Greece were." Teddy just shrugged, shuffling his feet. "Italy was great, a lot of sight seeing," he nodded at the memories of walking around the cities of Rome and Venice. "But I stayed the longest in Greece, in Chania," he said. It was a small boat town in Greece, with lots of fishing and sea life. "I actually got into writing, and, well, I have my first book being published soon, hopefully." Teddy grinned at the thought. Harry was, naturally, the first person he had told.
When Harry asked how everything had been, Teddy's expression got serious. It was high time he just came out and told Harry why he had left. Harry made things easy, though, so Teddy wasn't worried about what he would say. He had always been able to tell Harry things, so he took a deep breath. "I left because of her," he sighed. "I... didn't think I could handle working with her... after we..." he trailed off, looking down at his feet. It was still hard for Teddy. He loved Victoire, and thinking back to that day he had decided to leave was practically heartbreaking.

Harry smiled when Teddy said that he was excited to see his godmother. "That is good to hear. You just have to endure her tirade for however long that takes." He let out a laugh after he said that as he noticed the smile on his godson's face. Now he just hoped that he wouldn't also be on the receiving end of it as well for not waking Ginny up. He figured he would tell her later that night or in the morning about Teddy coming home. He laughed at the prospect of being on the receiving end of the tirade.
"Italy was great, a lot of sight seeing,...But I stayed the longest in Greece, in Chania," He felt that it was great that his godson had taken the time to enjoy the sites in Italy, and also staying in Greece. But what came next kind of surprised him but at the same time he was happy for Teddy. "I actually got into writing, and, well, I have my first book being published soon, hopefully." Harry new almost immediately that Hermione would end up getting a one of the first copies, since she still loved books. It was kind of hard for Harry to imagine her without books, then she wouldn't be Hermione. "Well congratulations on getting your first book published." Harry smiled and then he added. "I'll even buy your first copy. And make sure you send Hermione one as well. You know how she is about books."
Now they were down to the heart of the reason as to why Teddy had left in the first place. And there was one name for the reason. Victorie. Harry stepped closer to Teddy and put his hand on his shoulder before saying. "I know, and I don't blame you." He paused for a moment before he said in what he hoped was a comforting voice. "She was also miserable, and if I am not mistaken still is about the whole thing. I am not sure if that makes you feel any better but you should at least know that she still loves you." Harry then decided to tell him a story of sorts of something that had happened to him way back at the end of his sixth year. It was something that he had never told Teddy about but he figured that now was the time to do so and he hoped it would help the boy out. "Let me share an experience with you Teddy. This would be easier if I showed it to you but before I do I will give a brief summary of what happened. At the end of my sixth year at Hogwarts the funeral for Dumbledore was held." He held back the emotions that had sprung up, so they wouldn't interfere with what he had to say. "At the end of the funeral I broke up with Ginny, your godmother. So I could go out and hunt for the horcruxes that Voldemort had made." Harry had told Teddy a long time ago about the horcruxes and the whole thing but he had left out the bit about breaking up with Ginny. "Breaking up with Ginny was and probably the most difficult thing that I ever had to do. It's not that I didn't love her. I just had to make sure that she wouldn't be harmed. But then yet again I was wrong to assume that since she had a horrible experience at Hogwarts. Don't ask me for details about that because it is not my story to tell. I will however say this. It was literally hell for her." He sighed it was true but in the end it had all been worth it. "It was hard and we were both miserable, but after I killed Voldemort, or rather he killed himself a year later. We were able to be together once more and let me tell you it was worth it." Harry then summoned his pensive with a wave of his hand and also a small yet sturdy bar stool from the kitchen to set it on.
Once the pensive was on the stool Harry put the tip of his wand next to his temple and pulled out several memories and placed them into the pensive. "Alright now I want you to look at these memories they will start with the memory of Dumbledore's funeral and then you will see just a couple that will show you how miserable Ginny and I were during our time apart. And then the last ones you will see us getting back together after the final battle. You will also learn why I said it was worth it but just in case you can't figure it out, I will tell you why. Because of how much we loved each other, we were able to help each other heal. And during the time that it took us to heal both mentally and emotionally our love became much stronger. Now time for you to view the memories, and if you have any questions feel free to ask once you get done seeing them all." Harry stepped back a little from the pensive so Teddy could have enough room to use it. These memories are important for the boy to see. So that if he still truly loved Victorie, which Harry was sure that he still did even after four years away from her, that he would figure it out and get up the courage to talk to her once more. But for now he was here to give as much advice as he could to his godson. For that is what family is for, is it not.

Teddy grinned widely. "It's good to know Gin hasn't changed much," he said, referring to his fiery godmother's temper. She had been like his mother for more reasons than one. She had always made sure Teddy was grounded and disciplined when he was younger. He could recall many days when he would come home after being out late with... well, her and Ginny scolding him. While it was embarrassing and annoying then, he was finding that he couldn't wait to see her now.
Harry had always been very encouraging, and that was one of the reasons that Teddy loved him. "Thanks, Harry," he smiled. The genuine smile then turned sort of cheeky. "I'll even sign it for you," he said jokingly. Teddy was not the type to let fame or fortune get to his head. In fact, Teddy didn't want either of those. He wanted practical things like love and a home over his head. He was getting his book published because writing was something he loved doing, and he decided he might as well make something out of it.
Teddy couldn't help but avoid Harry's eyes at the topic of Victoire. He was ashamed for leaving, that was true, but he also loved her still. He looked up at Harry upon hearing that she, too, had apparently been miserable. But Teddy just scoffed at this information. "I doubt that," he looked away from his godfather. "Vic's beautiful, I'm sure she's had loads of suitors by now, if not a serious boyfriend," his voice got weaker toward the end of his sentence. He was saying it, but he really didn't even want to think about the possibility of it being true. It was unbearable.
Where Harry steered the conversation next suprised Teddy. He had not before known about his godparents breaking up before the downfall of Voldemort. This surprised him because on the outside, they seemed as though they had been together forever. Anyone could see how much they loved one another, and Teddy had just assumed it had always been that way. "Breaking up with Ginny was and probably the most difficult thing that I ever had to do." Teddy raised his eyebrows in agreement at this. He knew how that felt. Leaving Victoire in the first place was hard for him to do.
Teddy looked up when his godfather summoned the pensieve. Teddy had never before looked through the pensieve and was shocked he was about to. Teddy was a little reluctant at first, having to start with the funeral of a man he had known to be one of the greatest wizards of all time. The rest of what Harry said was kind of clouded for Teddy, as his mind was racing. He was anxious for what he might see. He watched Harry with slightly wide eyes as he pulled out the memories and then placed them into the pensieve. Finally, with a deep breath, Teddy entered the pensieve.
All around him were the sounds of crying people. He looked to his right and immediately saw his godfather, young and seventeen. He looked especially upset as he looked to Ginny, who was very young indeed. Teddy watched, invisible to everyone else but not really realizing that (or caring, really,) as his young godfather broke up with his godmother. Ginny protested, of course, saying she didn't care about the risks, but Harry was insistent. His godmother in the end accepted. Almost immediately, Teddy found himself falling through space. It was an odd sensation, but he didn't feel in danger as he fell, not knowing where he would land. Next he was in what he recognized as the Burrow. It was decorated for a wedding, one he knew could only be Bill and Fleur's. He turned back to his godparents then, to see them talking about Harry's leaving. It was then that Ginny had kissed him, and they were then interrupted by a young Ron and young Hermione. Teddy had to admit seeing all of them so young was odd, but the whole situation was eye opening altogether.
Once more, Teddy found himself falling into another memory. It was of his godfather and Ron and Hermione. Ron, whom Teddy considered an uncle, was arguing with Harry. He was accusing him of not caring about Ginny's being caught for trying to steal some Gryffindor sword. It was odd to see his uncle so angry, but he noticed a locket around his neck. Teddy figured it must have been bewitched. Suddenly, his uncle had left Harry and Hermione behind and they both seemed miserable and depressed. Teddy felt for his uncle, as his sadness was evident in his face. Then Teddy found himself, once again, falling into another memory. His godfather and his two best friends entering through a tunnel to the Room of Requirement, where they set eyes on their old friends and his godmother. He could sense the momentary happiness as the two set eyes on each other but it didn't last long, for the next memory was much, much, worse.
There were curses being thrown everywhere. Teddy was walking along with his godfather across what he recognized to be some part of Hogwarts, but run down and destroyed. Harry was heading somewhere, and as he walked he was passing dead bodies. Harry looked sad seeing them. Teddy gazed upon them, seeing someone that looked a lot like George Weasley but younger, and then someone whom Teddy saw himself in, lying next to a woman. Teddy couldn't believe what he was seeing. He couldn't believe how Harry had not broken down in that moment. And then Harry saw Ginny, comforting a girl, and she had not noticed him. Another memory and Harry was... dead? Teddy knew about this, of course, but this time the pain was registed on the faces of the young adults he knew. Ginny looked absolutely heartbroken. For a moment, Teddy watched his godmother. She was brave and seeing their relationship in this way was bringing to Teddy a whole new respect and admiration for his godparents and their love for one another. It showed once again when Harry looked torn between helping two groups of loved ones until a Killing Curse had just barely missed his godmother by an inch. Teddy could see how enraged this made Harry, and Teddy immediately felt the same. He was suddenly wishing he could have helped kill those Death Eaters, too. It was odd for him to think he was just a baby, a month old, when this was all going on.
It was after the battle now, and Teddy saw Harry embracing Ginny. They seemed positively overjoyed, for they had endured what no couple should. The separation for their safety during a dark, dark time. It was heartwarming to finally see them happy together, in one another's arms, after all of those sad, depressing memories that Harry had shared. One final memory was years after the battle and it showed the two holding a young child between them, their arms both embracing the infant and one another. Teddy immediately recognized the baby as James and the happiness radiating on their faces made Teddy smile widely. It was inspiring and truly heartwarming to experience their happiness in this way.
Teddy finally exited the pensieve and for a short moment, he stood there, staring at it in silence. The young man then turned to his godfather with a curious look in his eyes. Only one question really came to mind after all of those memories. "How did you do it?"
@potter
(ooc: It's super long! I dug into the Harry Potter wiki for this, I'll admit. I hope it's alright. I was feeling inspired by your bringing up the pensieve. : ])

"I'll even sign it for you," He could only grin as his godson joked about signing the book for Harry. He could care less if it was signed. Harry just wanted Teddy to be happy, and if writing books was something that he loved then Harry would support him one hundred percent of the way. He was always willing to help out his family. "Your welcome." Was all he could say fro now he had other pressing matters to deal with. Like how to help Teddy get back on the right footing and come to his senses about his love for Victorie and her Love for him. It might take a while but he knew that if they didn't fight it they would end up together. "You may doubt that she still loves you, but that doubt is coming from your own mind. Look deep down inside to your own heart and listen to what it tells you. I know for a fact that she doesn't and hasn't had a serious boyfriend since you. Sure she may have gone on a few dates, but other than that nothing has happened. The reason for this is because she still loves you but won't admit it to herself or anyone, but we can all see it." There was no other way to say it, except for being straight forward and honest.
Once Teddy had gone into the pensive viewing all of the memories that he, Harry, had put in there, he summoned a couple of butterbeers from the kitchen, which he now held in his hands. He opened one of them and took a drink. As he waited, he sat there thinking about all of the things that he and Ginny had gone through together. The first experience had been the Chamber of Secrets. They didn't talk about it much but that is where it had all started for them. He wasn't one to sit idly by and let those that he cared for get hurt, or harmed in anyway. He always acted without care for his own life. Ginny, Ron, and Hermione all called it his 'hero complex' or even 'saving people thing' but all in all it is because he couldn't live with himself if he did nothing. After the chamber it was a few years before they had been through anything together. But in fifth year they had to deal with Umbridge, and then they also fought side by side in the department of mysteries. They lived through it but it was very difficult afterwards for himself, because of Sirius' death. And then in sixth year they had finally gotten together after they had won the quidditch cup. Things were going great until Dumbledore was killed. Harry remembered that night like it was yesterday. As he knelt by Dumbledore's dead body people tried to get him to leave but he refused, but then Ginny came and he didn't even try to protest. He always knew that she had his best interests at heart and that was one of those times. She had been there for him, and in turn he was there for her as they grieved the loss of their Headmaster. Then after the funeral they broke up, he was glad that she understood. But neither of them liked having to be apart from each other. It was the most difficult thing that he had ever done. He would rather have to find all of the Voldemort's hocruxes and kill the bastard again, if it meant that he would never have to make the decision of being separated from Ginny ever again.
It took Harry a moment to realize that Teddy had finished and was now standing before him and looking at him with curiosity in his eyes. "How did you do it?" Harry took a moment to gather his thoughts before taking a sip of his drink and then offered the other one to Teddy. "This is for you." He held the bottle towards his godson, before he let a sigh leave his lips. "How did I do it? Well as I said before it was the most difficult thing I have ever done." He began. "What kept me going was not only the fact that I had to stop Voldemort before any more people were killed and tortured by him and his death eaters. But because of one person and that was and still is your beautiful godmother, my wife and mother of my children, Ginny. When I "died" I had a choice to die completely or to come back. At first I wanted to die so that I could be with Sirius, you parents, my parents, and many more who have died. But that was short lived because deep down I my heart was telling me to come back, for Ginny. I love her more than anything and even though we were apart for a long time, in the end we were able to be together once more. It is because of the love that we have for each other that we were able to get through everything. Together." Harry finished and then drank what was left of his butterbeer. He pulled the memories out of his pensive and put them back into his mind with the aid of his wand and then he banished the pensive and the stool back to their proper places.
"Teddy, now that I have shared what has it that keeps me going and how we got through it all. I have a question for you. I want you to think and dig deep down into your heart and then tell me, exactly how you feel about Victorie. And if your heart doubts that she doesn't love you anymore. You will be surprised with what you might find. I know you can do this and I would like you to do so now. So do you think that you can do that?" Harry really hoped that his godson would do so. For he wanted to help him as much as possible. As he stood there looking at Teddy, he had a twinkle in his eyes that according to Ginny was much like how Professor Dumbledore's eyes always twinkled. It was something that happened, especially when he was give advice or teaching, or something of that nature. Harry didn't doubt for a second that Teddy wouldn't do what he had just instructed and then asked him to do. It was something personal but he had done it. It was actually something his father-in-law, Arthur Weasley, had him do. And it made it even simpler and quite easy for him when he wanted to ask Ginny to marry him. Because of doing so he had realized that no matter what he couldn't go on without Ginny and that they were meant for each other. He also came to the conclusion that she wouldn't say no and that he didn't need to worry about it one bit. They have been through so much together that it has brought them close to each other, to the point where they rely on one another. Just as Dumbledore had said to Harry once "Love is the most extraordinary and powerful type of all magic. Because it brought people together, and it was the only true thing that could defeat those who seek to harm others."

Teddy looked skeptically at his godfather. "Men I'm sure she's found loads more interesting than me," he rolled his eyes at the thought of Victoire with other men. Victoire was beautiful, there was no question about it. That was why Teddy had a hard time believing that she didn't have a steady boyfriend or many different partners for that matter. The woman was veela, for Merlin's sake!
Teddy watched his godfather carefully as Harry handed him a butterbeer, which he accepted with no hesitation. Teddy had heard all about the Battle, of course. He was alive and well when it took place, though very, very young. And the battle was a very important part of who he was, for that battle had claimed both of his parents' lives. Teddy's family would have cruel and crazy to not have told him about the battle. But seeing it all that way was eye opening. And now, as Harry was telling Teddy about his "choice" to die, he realized that there was more he did not know. He raised an eyebrow at his godfather as he continued to talk. He let a slight smile cross his lips at Harry's admittance to returning to reality and living for Ginny.
It was very inspiring to hear his godfather speak of his love for his godmother. But one thing couldn't help but cross Teddy's mind. No matter how much everyone would tell Teddy he was wrong or right, he just considered he and Victoire's situation to be much more different and complicated than others. When Harry then asked him to tell him exactly how Teddy felt about Victoire, he looked away from his godfather. It wouldn't be hard. Teddy knew exactly what he felt, it was just a matter of not believing that she felt the same.
"I love her." Teddy shrugged, finally returning his eyes to meet Harry's. "I love her more than anything and... I can't believe I let her go," he ran a frustrated hand through his brown hair. Teddy's hair had long since returned to a natural color. His hair had only changed colors, he realized, when he was extremely happy, which would have explained his blue hair those years he was with Victoire. Teddy hardly found it in him to morph his ability for fun anymore. "And I'm ashamed," he said, looking back down at the floor. "I'm ashamed that I left the Ministry because of her and I'm ashamed that I left all of you for her," he couldn't meet Harry's eyes this time.

"Men I'm sure she's found loads more interesting than me," Harry shook his head a little at this. Just as stubborn as Moony was, when addressing the issue of being with Tonks. Just for once he would love for Teddy to be like his mother and accept the fact that once you truly love someone that should be your number one priority is that person. “You know your being just as stubborn as Moony was.” Harry stated while looking at Teddy, whom he had told long ago about the Marauders, and that he usually used the nicknames when speaking about anyone of them.
“No matter what you may think Teddy your situation with Victorie is not that much different nor is it that much more complicated. Because love is a complicated thing but it brings out the best in all of us.” Harry had noticed the look in Teddy’s eyes that basically said ‘yeah but my situation is different and more complicated than yours was. It really wasn’t it was the same thing.
Harry grinned as he listened to Teddy answer the question he had asked. "I love her more than anything and... I can't believe I let her go," He also listened to how the boy said he was ashamed for leaving the ministry because of Victorie and also for leaving his family and friends. However to Harry this almost sounded like a self-pity act as Teddy wouldn’t even meet his eyes. “See you still love her. And because of that love you may have let her go physically, but in your heart it is an anchor that keeps you going strong. I know you have been miserable. Because your hair is it’s natural color. You are being a little to hard on yourself. I understand that you feel ashamed Teddy. I would be to if I had done the same thing.” Harry paused for a moment thinking of how to best word what he was going to say next in hopes of getting the boy to figure out what he needed to do. “No one holds it against you for leaving the Ministry because you didn’t think you could work with her, and sure you left us all but that doesn’t mean we care about you any less. It was a natural reaction, and to be honest I am surprised that you stuck around for as long as you did, upon finding out that she had started training to become an Auror.” He paused once more before continuing. “Now tell me what do you think you should do? Do you want her back or not? And if so are you willing to go through hell, to get her back? What are you going to do about this Teddy? I sure hope you aren’t going to sit around and brood about what could have been. You must take action for you will never personally know if she still loves you unless you go and talk with her. I know it won’t be easy but once you have it will be worth your efforts. You have even taken the first step towards getting her back. You may not have realized it but coming home was the first step, and now you must take the steps that follow.” He had just asked the boy a lot of questions but it was the only way for the kid to see reason. “If you love her as you say you do then go after her. And if she still loves you like I know she does upon looking into her eyes for the first time in a long time you will be able to tell that she still loves you. Everything will work out, trust me.” Harry leaned back against the door frame to the living room as he watched for any sign of giving up on Teddy’s part. Because he was not going to let the boy be miserable his whole life, and there was no way he would allow him to give up.

For some reason, Teddy was just unable to come to terms with the fact that Victoire may still be waiting for him. It had been four years. Teddy thought that he would be the only person crazy enough to wait that long. “You know your being just as stubborn as Moony was.” The young Lupin couldn't help but chuckle and smile as he looked down at the ground, thinking of the man he never had the chance to meet: his father. Teddy was well aware of his father's nickname, and the condition that gave him the nickname as well. It was comforting for him to hear that he was just like his father. "Well, you know what they say... like father like son," he said, looking up at Harry now, a small smile at the corner of his mouth.
"I know you have been miserable. Because your hair is it’s natural color." Teddy looked up toward his forehead. He had almost forgotten about his hair. He looked back to his godfather as he spoke. Teddy couldn't help but look away as Harry spoke, but he was still listening to every word. And every word was hitting him hard. It all made sense, and Teddy knew it was what he had to do but it didn't sound that easy.
Even getting a hold of Victoire would be hard. What if she ignored him? What if she refused to meet with him? He wouldn't be able to bear it if she did, and he would end up driving himself crazy with anticipation and anxiety waiting to hear back from her. But Teddy did still love her, and everything his godfather was telling him to do was the right thing to do. Teddy knew he had to act on this. But something couldn't help but catch his ear.
Teddy looked at his godfather, an eyebrow raised. "You know for a fact that she still loves me?" He asked, a hint of skepticism in his voice. "How?" Teddy knew his godfather had no reason to lie, and he was more than likely telling the truth, but Teddy needed to know. He needed to know if it was apparent in the way that Victoire acted, if she had said anything about him, or anything that would give him more hope. It was what he think he needed for that final push.

"Well, you know what they say... like father like son," Harry smiled, it was a very true statement. And Teddy was so much like Moony sometimes that it was almost scary to think of another Moony running around. But the kid was more like his mother than anything else. “Yes that is what they say isn’t it? But it is also very true.” Harry couldn’t help remember the limited amount of time that he had gotten to spend with Remus and Tonks, but he wasn’t concerned too much about himself as he was about Teddy who grew up never knowing his parents. He and Ginny did the best that they could to treat him like a son.
He watched as Teddy turned away not looking at him, but Harry knew that his godson was still listening to him. He knew he had gotten through to the boy. "You know for a fact that she still loves me?... How?” It really was quite simple actually. There were several indications , and Ginny had also told him what Victorie had told her, about still loving Teddy. Harry knew what he had to say and he was sure it would be the final push that sent the boy on the path back to Victorie. “Well it is quite simple really. It is noticeable in the way she acts. Especially when she is here, and sees pictures of you for one she blushes, and then she tries to hid the fact that she can’t stop looking at those pictures of you with a sense of longing in her eyes. I’ve seen it and so has Ginny. She has even told Ginny that she misses you, and that she still loves you.” It was all the truth, and he figured that Teddy needed to hear it. He looked around and noticed that they had been having this conversation in the entryway the time. "Let's go into the living room, I feel we still have more to talk about." He said motioning towards the living room, as if signaling for Teddy to go first.

Teddy had never really been terribly broken up about the death of his parents. He was only a month old when they died, so he doesn't even have any memories of them. If ever Teddy was at all sad, it was because he didn't get to meet them or talk to them like he would have liked. Growing up without them was terrible, for he had his grandmother, and Ginny and Harry, but the longing to have at least have met them just once... it was still there. But Teddy hardly got upset over that now. He was much over that feeling, for he was grown and he knew he couldn't change history. All he could do was smile a little at Harry saying it was true; Teddy was like his father.
The Lupin really couldn't figure out why he refused to hear that Victoire really did still love him. It was hard for him to wrap his mind around. Their breakup wasn't even bad and he was still afraid to face her! What Teddy didn't realize was that was at the root for his not wanting to meet with Victoire. He was embarrassed and afraid.
Teddy took a moment to picture Victoire standing where he stood, except Teddy wasn't there. She would be looking at his photos, but to Teddy, he couldn't see her blushing. He just saw her scanning over them, and maybe pointing out how beautiful Lily looked in a photograph. Teddy let his eyes gaze back over to Harry as her spoke, and at the mention of Victoire having a longing in her eyes, Teddy had no doubt that he didn't have that same longing in that very moment. He wanted Victoire to be there with him right now, but he was too coward to admit it.
Harry gestured for Teddy to move to the living room, taking this as hopefully a subject change. "Really?" Teddy asked, his eyebrows raised as he began to walk over to the sofa in the living room. "Like what?" He said, taking a seat on the middle cushion as he looked up at Harry.

Harry followed Teddy into the living room and he gave a slight chuckle as he listened to the two questions that Teddy asked. He had peaked Teddy’s curiosity and he knew it. And plus he was sure that the boy could use a change in subject. Harry had already gotten the first thing out of the way. But now it was time to fill Teddy in about what has happened lately. Harry sat down in an armchair that was off to the side of the couch. He ran his hand through his hair, this was the difficult part, for he had been lost a good friend, and then also many of his aurors were being killed off as well. “Teddy nothing is at it seems.” Harry paused before letting out a heavy sigh. “Earlier this summer, Kingsley Shacklebolt, I am sure you remember him. Was found murdered near the Shrieking Shack. But that is not all. Many aurors and other people have been killed. Even on the train ride to Hogwarts, a first year muggleborn girl was murdered on the train. Unfortunately James was the one to discover her body.”
There was one thing that he had been weighing heavily on his mind and that was asking Teddy to join the Order of Phoenix. They could use all the help that they could get and he knew that Teddy would be a great addition to the Order. That is if he agreed to do so. “The new minister of magic, is a complete and utter fool, much like Fudge was. So he has decided to basically put all of the aurors under house arrest. As the Head Auror I can’t even send out the others to find whoever is doing all of this and to put a stop to it. So I have done the one thing that I knew that I would have to do.” Harry paused for a moment to collect his thoughts. “I have reestablished the Order of Phoenix. The old crowd has been called up and we are bring in many knew people that we can trust. Some of them are people that you went to Hogwarts with and others are not. My question for you and I hope you accept it is simple. Will you Edward Remus Lupin, join the Order of Phoenix, and help fight those that wish to do harm to our world, and to also protect the muggle world as well?” Harry was directly at Teddy and he had asked that last part in a very serious and important manner.

“Teddy nothing is at it seems.”
The tone in Harry's voice sent a chill through Teddy's spine. What Harry was about to say was not good news. In fact, something was telling Teddy that whatever it was, it was dreadful. Teddy watched his godfather intently as he let out a sigh. His brow was furrowed in concentration and concern when Harry began to speak again. Teddy nodded at Harry, for of course he remembered Kingsley Shacklebot. He had met him as a youngster and had met with him several times during his training as an Auror. But... what?
As what Harry was saying began to sink in, the concentrated look on Teddy's face turned into one of worry and despair. Not just Shacklebot but Aurors, had been killed? And to top it all off... a muggleborn? Teddy's mouth hung open slightly in horror as he looked Harry, his brow creased together in sadness. "Wha - ... James?" He repeated. Suddenly he felt bad for not only the victims but one of his best friends as well. James, of all people, did not deserve to stumble upon a dead girl's body. He couldn't even begin to imagine how it was affecting the boy.
At the topic of this new Minister basically banning all Aurors from doing their jobs, Teddy's look turned into one of anger. Teddy had heard many incriminating stories about the old Minister, Cornelius Fudge. From what Teddy gathered, he was a cowardly man. How, exactly, another cowardly wizard like Fudge ended up in his position was beyond Teddy. But what came next was another big surprise for Teddy.
Join the Order of the Phoenix? Teddy's eyes widened slightly at this offer. The Order, Teddy knew, had been around for years. Years before even his godfather was born, back when Teddy's own parents had been a part of the founding team. Part of Teddy was sad that such an offer had to be made, as it could only mean there was fear for worse things to come... but Teddy felt he also could decline. He looked down at his feet for a moment in silence, thinking of his mother and father and what they would be saying if they were there right now. While he hadn't known them, Teddy had heard plenty about them to know that they were the type to never turn down the opportunity to protect others. Hadn't that been what Teddy was signing up for when training to be an Auror? He simply couldn't refuse.
Teddy looked back up at Harry, his eyes looking determined as he met Harry's own eyes. "I accept," he nodded once. This was something he couldn't turn down. Not because of Harry, or because of Victoire, or even because of himself. Teddy had to do this for his parents.
