Spring time was here and Leslie was here and ready to embrace it WITH A PICNIC! She had made a small picnic and invited her daughter, Winnie, to join her in the courtyard. She always tried to spend one on one time with her kids and this was her idea this week for her annual get together with Winnie, her little princess. She maaay have read her one or two too many fairy tale stories when the girl was a kid. She practically thought she was going to be royalty someday. This was a little stressful considering there were actually people in the school who were muggle Royalty, and Leslie was sure that Winnie would be harassing them. Buuuut, Leslie believes 100% in following your dreams and she wasn't going to tell Winnie that it wasn't going to happen. No way! Still, she often had to convince the girl that she still had to do her fair share of work. So, here she was unrolling the blanket and setting up the basket as she prepared for Winifred-erh-Winnie to arrive. Her little lion was always rather irritable about the name Leslie and Ben had given her but, eh, Leslie liked it. Plus, 'Winnie' suited her very well and was a great name to go on! Once she saw her daughter approaching, Leslie stood and waved both arms in the air excitedly. And, of course, the picnic had no gluten!

It was SPRING!
Winnie hated winter. And the cold. Sure, it was great for curling up infront of a fire and snuggling, but she hated being cold. Spring meant she could go outside and sprawl out by the lake for a nap... or to read. Basically, it mean sun. And sun was great. And so, at the idea of having a picnic with her mother? She was more then a little excited. For a minute Winnie had been worried her mom would want to meet up in her office and force help her with her schoolwork. Her marks were shocking to most, especially when you knew that her mother happened to be a Professor. She just... didn't like homework. She found it tedious and boring. Combine that with her lazy nature... Well.... It usually didn't get done unless someone was right there, forcing her to do it.
Spotting her mother on the lawns, spreading out the blanket, Winnie absolutely beamed and started running. "Mama bear!" She exclaimed excitedly as she reached her mother and flung her arms around her. If Leslie wasn't careful the girl's momentum just might knock them both over. But hey, that was Winnie for you. She liked hugs. Way to much.
((also, Leslie's gluten free cooking? XD))

Leslie was not even a tiny bit surprised that her child was going to tackle her and prepared herself for it so that they wouldn't crash to the ground. She hugged her daughter tightly before releasing her, kissing her forehead, and placing both hands on the girls shoulders. "I assume you're fairly caught up on homework?" she made a faux serious face before laughing it off and patting Winnie on the head with one hand while reaching to guide her toward the picnic blanket with the other. "I'm only joking, we're here to have a picnic!" she brought Winnie over to the blanket and knelt down, gesturing for the young blonde lion to join her. It was a little strange, Leslie thought, that none of her children ended up in the house she had grown in. Still, it was fun to hear about their common rooms and their house customs, and she trusted the sorting hats decisions, of course. "So, how's the day been so far, my beautiful, glowing sun goddess?"@winnie

Winnie, like her siblings, had no shame in showing her parents affection. Either she hadn’t hit that rebellious teenager phase, or just completely skipped it. Grinning like the fool she was, she tightly hugged her mother, though that grin turned innocent when homework was mentioned. ”Nope. Not at all.” She stated honestly and confidently. Was she really a Professor’s child? And why did she sound smug as she proudly declared that she wasn’t doing her homework? Especially when that meant she wasn’t doing the homework her own mother had assigned out….
Winnie flopped down, rather ungracefully, onto her stomach, on the blanket, propping her elbows up so she could rest her chin in her hands. ”Okay, I guess. Classes are boring. And I fell asleep in Potions again. Think you could convince Professor Aguillard to not give me detention?” Why was she grinning? She should be mortified by this, or at least upset! But seeing as she practically lived in detention… Not to surprising.
”What did you pack for food?” While Winnie was celiac, which meant no gluten… She happened to like gluten quite a lot. Something her mother undoubtedly knew. She was pretty sure there was no gluten in the basket, much to her displeasure.

Leslie sighed and chuckled as she shook her head at Winnies confident confession about not beint caught up on homework. She wasn't surprised by that. She had hoped Winniw had at least done her classes homework but she knew better. The girl probably saved Charms for last. As the girl fell onto the blanket Leslie crossed her ankles, letting her legs fold sideways beside her. Winnie went on to explain the boring nature of her classes and falling asleep in potions. Leslie laughed, reaching out to pat her daughter on the back. "Now you know as well as I do that you have to fight your own battles, darling." She pulled her hand back and began pulling out the food. "Only the best, of course! We've got pulled pork lettuce wraps and for dessert I made these almonds bars. First time making them but I think they're pretty good!" Her voice was filled with pride as she pulled the food out. "Can't really eat laying down though, darling."@winnie

Wnnie stuck out her tongue as he mother stated she needed to fight her own battles. "But he plays favorites!" The girl let out a sigh, and let her head drop to the blanket, face hidden by her blonde locks. "I don't stand a chance!" A little over dramatic, but Winnie wasn't known for being calm or quiet about anything. She got that from her mother, to no surprise. The triplets in general seemed to take after their mother much more then their father in terms of personality.
The girl only lifted her head when she heard her mother rummaging through the basket, pulling out the food she'd packed, her stomach growling. Sure, she loved bread, but her mother's cooking was aaaaaaaamazing. Came from years of having to accommodate to the triplets food issues. Well, Xan didn't have the problem, but she had no choice in the matter! She was on the same diet as them.
"Mmmmm. Almond bars." Of course that was the one thing she zeroed in on. Desert. No surprise. She looked at her mother after with a grin. "Yes I can! I can prove it too!" She kicked off her shoes, swinging her legs back and forth in the air.

Leslie sighed, shaking her head. She knew that Haymitch played favorites, and she was often getting after him for it in the staff room. Still, she couldn't really make a difference if he wasn't going to listen to her. "Awe, I know. He's pompous but he still gives students a fair chance, I know he does. Just become a favorite. Shouldn't be too hard, right?" she joked. Haymitch was a fan of your name, where you came from, what your parents did. "Alas, I'm sorry I'm not famous enough," she joked again. "But sleeping in class... anyone would get in trouble for that," she added. Awe, the balance between teacher and mother. What a fun little game to play every day all day. Then Win claimed she could prove that eating laying down was possible and Leslie's eyes widened. "Fine, but food first!" she said, using her wand to levitate the lettuce wrap toward her daughter while simultaneously bringing the almond bars closer to herself. "I trust Hugo's been watching your eating still?" she chuckled. That boy had become rather wrapped up in her daughters health, which Leslie thought was just the sweetest thing! @winnie

”I think you’re plenty famous!” Winnie protested loudly. She wasn’t a quiet child by nature, but she’d raised her voice even more so, with a slight touch of anger. Her mother, in Winnie’s mind, was the most amazing woman alive, and totally deserved more credit than people gave her! ”Whoever doesn’t think that is stupid.” Oh, that was a little harsh! Winnie wasn’t a mean person, so even saying people were stupid was a bit surprising.
”I can’t help it though! Don’t I have, like…. A medical excuse?” She tilted her head a little, trying to think if that was a real thing or not. The girl was narcoleptic after all. Not the worst, but enough that she periodically became sapped of all energy…. She was slightly (more then slightly) addicted to energy drinks and potions because of it, and always had close to a dozen small vials of the stuff in her bag. Speaking of…. ”Mum, I’m almost out of the potion. I need more.” By almost out, she meant she actually only had three left…. That’d last her…. Two days if she was sparing. She’d forgotten to mention it sooner. Oops.
When the lettuce wrapped came close, Winnie sat up. She’d been so determined not to, but the sight of food changed that plan dang quick. But wait… Ah dang! Her mother was hoarding the dessert. Probably to make sure she actually ate real food before sweets… She knew Winnie to well. Then she mentioned Hugo. ”Gluten nazi…” was her only response. The girl adored Hugo, but he was obsessed with making sure she didn’t eat anything bad for her.

Leslie raised an eyebrow as her daughter said she was plenty famous and anyone who didn't think so was stupid. "Such harsh words, Win," she chuckled, knowing that Winnie probably didn't mean anyone in particular... except for maybe Haymitch. In which case stupid wasn't entirely inaccurate. Maybe 'ignorant' was a better word. Either way, she knew her daughter was just frustrated with the sleeping in class situation. At the mention of her potion, Leslie sighed, "well, sweetie, that's probably why you're falling asleep in class! You've been using it too sparingly, haven't you?" she said, "and no, I don't think they'd give you a medical excuse because you actually have a medication for it. Or rather, you did. I'll get some for you tomorrow, so be careful." Her children and their many ailments were quite the work, but she wouldn't trade any of it. Even the sicknesses made them special, made them who they were. She snickered with triumph as Winnie sat up to grab her food. At the mention of Hugos lovely nickname, Leslie nodded, trying not to smile too wide. "Oh, pssh. He's just worried about you. He loves you, and he doesn't want to see you get yourself sick!" Leslie chuckled again, taking a bit of her own sandwich. When the kids were younger, her and Hermione would always joke and semi bet on which of the girls Hugo would marry in the future. That half-joke had long since gone but Leslie would probably geek out like crazy if one of them actually did. The thought made her laugh to herself again, and then look over at Winniw with a wide-eyed look of guilt on her face. @winnie

@leslie "Well, harsh words are necessary if someone thinks that!" Yes, she'd classify the Potions professor in that category. Though she'd never say it to his face! Not if she wanted to any any sort of free time for the rest of the year.
Winnie smiled sheepishly as her mother accused her of using the potion sparingly. "I didn't want to run out! And.... and those energy drinks help. Sometimes. If I drink enough." A nasty habit she'd picked up one summer. Caffeine overloads. At first it'd worked wondered. But she'd been building up an immunity to it, so more and more caffeine had been necessary each time. IT wasn't a habit either of her parents seemed to enjoy. Winnie nodded though as her mother said she'd get more of the potion. "Thanks."
The girl had already taken her first bite when she heard her mother's snicker, and Winnie shot her a look, trying to look angry and intimidating but only managing to look ridiculous with her mouth full. She chewed quickly and swallowing. "But what about emotional health?! We can do more about my physical health then emotional. Soooooo, we should let me be happy and physically sick!" Because that logic totally made sense. She was taking another bite when she heard that laugh and looked at her mother with a cautious look, her eyes narrowing a bit. "What are you plotting..?" She knew that laugh. Heck, she knew that look. It meant the Meagle mother was up to something.

Leslie nodded as Winnie let out her statement about the necessity of harsh words in some situations. "I understand that you feel that way, and feel free to say that stuff to me. Perhaps avoiding calling him that to his face, though," she suggested, smiling calmly at Win.
Leslie took in a deep breath as Winnie continued about the sparing use of her potion. "Now, I am literally in the same building as you all of the time. There is no excuse for you to not tell me before you run out, understood?" mama bear put her foot down then, which didn't happen too often. When her daughters health was involved, and her grades, she had to be a little more stern she felt.
"As for the energy drinks, I'm still not entirely sure how I feel about those... granted, I have so much energy already that they'd probably kill me," she chuckled. "I'm glad they're helping though," she smiled.
She laughed as Winnie tried to glare at her and shook her head at Winnies words. "Gluten is the only thing that makes you happy? That's hurtful, Win," she said, giving a faux pout.
As Win called her out on her guilty look, Leslie tried to give an innocent shrug to counter. "I'm not up to anything. Just contemplating future things and whatnot," well, she wasn't lying!

"Someone should say it to his face...." Winnie muttered seriously. The look on her face wouldn't be reassuring. It was thoughtful, considering. As if she just might do it. Because heaven knows, the girl needed more detention in her life.
Her eyebrows raised at her mothers tone, stating that there wasn't any reason for her to run out of he potion. It was true. Her mother was a Professor. Which meant she could go to her whenever needed. It was still odd, to be honest, and hard to get used to. Most of her friends didn't have parents as part of the Hogwarts staff after all. They'd go months without seeing their parents. And here she was, able to see her mother everyday, but still running off that same wavelength as her friends. Which meant, you didn't ask for something until absolutely needed. "Okay, fine. I'll remember to ask you next time. Promise." She grinned, obviously not taking her mother's stern speech seriously. But, Winnie wasn't a serious person. she was more likely to grin and laugh then anything else. "Mum, don't drink energy drinks. You'd give dad a heart attack." There was a more serious hint to that response though, but it'd also been far more teasing.
"Not the only thing. The forbidden forest makes me happy. Sneaking out at night without you or dad knowing is good to. Not doing homework. Bugging Xan and Isaac. Making my room as messy as possible. Hugging Hugo when he doesn't want me to. Should I keep going?" Basically, anything that she shouldn't do had just been named on her list of 'Things that make me happy'. While hilarious, she actually meant it. A child of chaos, she was...
Winnie leaned forward a bit, eyes narrowed at her mother's act of innocence. "What kind of future things? The good kind? Are we talking like... immediate future? Or way down the line?" the rest of their picnic turned into a bombardment of questions as Winnie tried to figure out just what her mother had been thinking in that moment...
