My dear @alice , When Neville contacted me about a trip for this summer, I honestly can say that I was ecstatic! Rolf and I have been planning to go to America to investigate some claims about magical creatures there (BigFoot being at the very top of my list. I hear that one hair off of his big toe would make an excellent replacement for a unicorn hair in a wand!) Having you with us, well this would only make the trip that much more enjoyable! I have not told the boys yet, if you see them would you mind passing the word onto them? Now, concerning the equipment that you will need, your father has already assured me that you won't have to concern yourself about anything. Don't worry, most of what we need we can find in nature. Last winter in the Swiss alps, Rolf and I slept upside down in a cave full of bats to avoid the yeti's that slept under us. We didn't want to wake them, but once they woke on their own they were nothing but cordial. Well cordial for yeti's. Rolf's arm only took three different spells to heal! So you see, there isn't anything to worry about. We know all of the necessary spells and have plenty of books to draw knowledge from. Is there anything that you would want to see while we are visiting the america's? We will have the whole summer so there is plenty of time to see and visit and learn about anything we desire to learn! So just let me know and we can add it to our plans! I'll send you a detailed summary of what we are going to do in a future letter. Be safe, my dear. Hogwarts is not the safe haven it used to be. But I am sure you can take care of yourself. And your dad is there, heaven knows that he can take care of you if anyone can. I also heard from Ginny that Harry has been spending a lot of time there as well. Between the two of them ... well I am not sure anything gets past them. (Besides their wives, but that is a blind spot most men share, as they should.) Love, Luna

Dear Aunt Luna, When Dad told me I would be spending the summer on an expedition with you, I thought it was too good to be true. I've always heard so many fun and intriguing things about you and Uncle Rolf's adventures and I cannot tell you enough how thankful and excited I am to be a part of your next one! The fact that it will be in the states makes it even better!
I've been doing a little research about some creatures there and I must say that those muggles over there really do have interesting theories for what they see. I would love to go and try to find Bigfoot! I have read he has been spotted mostly on the western side of the United States and in my research I have found that this part of the country is very beautiful. I am very excited, especially after hearing of your run-in with the yetis!
Another one I would really like to look into is the Chupacabra. People have reported seeing it, but not many have ever seen the actual "reptilian" looking Chupacabra. I think that one would be one for the books!
I am very, very, very excited to go on this adventure with you! And I will be bringing along my creature study journal! I actually ran in to Lysander not too long ago and told him about it... so I think we may collaborate a little bit in it. Have I mentioned how excited I am? Graduation couldn't come soon enough!

My dearest Alice, Oh! The Chupacabra! I have been looking into it since I got your letter. did you know it hasn't been around that long? The first recorded sightings were in 1995! I was still in school then, it was my 4/5th year! And the year I became good friends with your father. Funny how important things seem to clump together like that. You have a creature study journal? How wonderful! I am sure we will be able to fill that up when we go to America! I envy you sometimes, Care of Magical Creatures is such a magnificent class that is so informative. I wish more of my classmates had payed attention to our professor, however though Hagrid cared very much about the subjects about which he taught, he didn't quite know how to teach it. He did get much better as the years went on, just as all teachers do. Perhaps we will find an armadillo that loves music, I have heard that some of them can sing words in the sweetest tones, better brush up on your singing skills! Love,

Dear Aunt Luna, Wow! Maybe that's why there isn't a lot of research behind it... hasn't been around that long for anyone to go looking! Hopefully we can be some of the firsts!
I actually go to school with a Hagrid. He's in my house and loves Care of Magical Creatures quite a lot. His name is Carcer and he actually even has Abraxans here at the school! He has really helped me fill my creature study journal, actually. He introduced me to a unicorn a couple of months ago. It was the most beautiful thing I have ever seen!
Oh! I was hoping perhaps we could visit a muggle zoo sometime during the trip? I would love to see more of the animals that muggles care for in captivity as well. Like tigers? Now those are some interesting animals. And perhaps one may house a singing armadillo!

My sweet Alice, It is so wonderful to discover new creatures and evidence of very old ones. I shall have to show you some of my creature journals, though I will need to be selective about which ones I bring, I have quite a few! Carcer Hagrid? He is quite the impressive young man. that is if Hagrid is telling the truth about his young son. I am sure he is. I did not know he had some Abraxans, I have wanted to study those creatures for a very long time. Perhaps you could show me some of your research on them, and anything else your friend can offer. The first time I ever saw one was during the Tri-wizard tournament during my 4th year (incidentally the same year the cupacabra was discovered!). the students from Beaubaxtons school came in a flying carriage pulled by them. This must be where Carcer got them from, since his mother was the headmistress. (That is how Hagrid and Madame Maxine met). A muggle zoo? I have to admit I have never been to one, though it could be exciting. I have heard of an excellent one in New York that we could go to, it had a large variety of mundane animals. I bet we could even find some magical creatures there that muggles have mistook for nonmagical animals! Love,
