It was the day after the attacks and the students were being brought to Hogsmeade village to meet up with their families and let them know that they were okay. Will had come, leaving his mother behind to take care of this. They had been talking about taking the kids out of school for the whole school, ever since the first muggle born student was killed. Now, more than ever, Will wanted to do just that.
The thing was, however, that it was mainly pureblood students who had been taken. They didn't want his siblings at all. But what did that mean? Were they going to start some brainwashing army? Either way, it was going to be a long day and a long conversation with his siblings
He arrived via train and came off at the station, sifting through the crowds for them. Then he saw Lucy, "Luc! Luc!" he called, moving toward her.

@william @susanvictoria @edmund Lucy had found Edmund and Susan before she left the castle, but had run ahead almost immediately. She couldn't wait to see Wil. It was awful what had happened, but she was glad because it gave her the opportunity to see her brother again. Looking around the crowds of people that had come to see their children Lucy couldn't seem to find him. HE could be anywhere. Would he have gone father into Hogsmead? Then she heard him call her name. She whipped around to look at him. All at once she was laughing and crying. She ran into his arms and hugged him as tightly as she could. "Pete! Oh Will. I.." she started to say more, but she was so relieved to have her big brother here she just held him. The thought crossed her mind that she should wave to Edmund and Susan, who weren't all the far behind her. But then she would have to let go of Peter. No. She was going to hold her brother until she was good and ready to let go.

Edmund walked along the path from Hogwarts to Hogsmeade silently, not excited about what was about to happen. He already knew what it was going to be. Will would be trying to take them out of school, or trying to convince them to let him and he wasn't going to. Ed's mind was already made up. He had reasons and arguments and wasn't going to go down without a fight. Well, at least not without a verbal fight ... if it progressed to actual fighting, that wasn't his original plan. If worse came to worse he would leave. He'd leave his brother and sisters in the middle of the conversation and go hide in Hogwarts. He wasn't going to let them take him away from the one place that he belonged.
He watched Lucy race ahead of he and Susan, obviously excited and wished he could feel the same, but he couldn't. He knew he should probably talk to Susan, but he was well aware of the possibility that she might be on Will's side, so he didn't want to start the argument prematurely. So he walked a few steps behind her. Just far enough that she hopefully wouldn't talk to him, but close enough that she would know he wasn't trying to ditch out on the family meeting. Even though he wished that he could.
They got to the village and he continued to watch Lucy as she found Will and gave him an enormous hug. He took a deep breath, preparing himself for what was about to happen. "Hey Wil," he said casually as he reached them, nodding at his brother. A part of him wanted to go forward and hug his brother. After all, yesterday had been terrible. He'd spent a large part of the night wishing Wil would have been there, though he would never admit that to anyone. The other part of him told him to stand there and look strong. He didn't want to start this conversation out looking weak. Besides, Lucy was still holding on to Wil. He didn't want to interrupt their moment.
So he listened to the second part of him and hung back.

Susan had spent a little time in the Hospital Wing after the kidnappings due to the gash on the back of her head. Caroline had been able to fix her up quite nicely but had kept her overnight as a precaution since she had a concussion. She had barely spoken to anyone after the attacks, not even her own siblings. She felt she had failed them as an older sister; it had been her responsibility to make sure they were all safe, but instead she had given herself a concussion and had been rendered useless at the end. What was worse is that her best friend Braelynn had been taken along with the others, and she barely talked to anyone except Lysander Scamander.
As the three school-aged Windsors walked through the streets of Hogsmeade, she couldn’t help but smile as Lucy ran ahead to greet Wil. She was glad to see her older brother, but was really dreading the upcoming conversation. She knew he had to have come from seeing their mother, who would be strongly advocating for their return to the Muggle world. Contrary to popular belief, she just couldn’t see herself leaving the school now. Not when she needed all the magical training she could get to be useful in the world.

Will wrapped his arms tightly around Lucy and turned his cheek to rest against the hair on the top of her head. He felt his throat start to choke up and knew that if he held on too long he may start crying. He didn't want to do that, not when he had a lot to talk to them about. After a moment he kissed the top of her head and pulled back, keeping an arm around her shoulders. He looked up at Ed spoke, giving him a nod. "Hey Ed," he said, smiling. He felt another surge of relief at the sight of him and blinked back the moisture in his eyes. As for Susan, he reached his other hand out to her, wanting to take her hand in his.
"Why don't the four of us go somewhere to talk?" he asked, his eyebrow raised at Susan now. She was the second eldest and the oldest one at school, he sort of saw her as who he had 'passed the torch to' when he graduated. He wanted her support.

Susan nodded silently to William. “Yes, let’s go to the Three Broomsticks, we should be able to find a table there to talk,” she said firmly. As the siblings walked, she ran through her thoughts in her head over and over. William was here to talk about them leaving the school for good, and he clearly expected Susan to go along with the plan. However much Susan missed home, she knew in her heart she didn’t want to leave for good. She had friends, she loved her classes, and Masin Delisle had taken a keen interest in her – what if she was grooming Susan to take her place next year? She knew Will would not be happy that she’d be siding with her younger siblings, but he would need to learn to deal with it.
She shot them a reassuring smile as they walked through the door, the bell clanging as if announcing their presence. Susan walked over to the bar and ordered them four butterbeers. She sat them down at the empty table they had chosen, and took a deep breath. “We’re not going home Will,” she said softly.

Edmund forced a smile back at his older brother, fighting to hide his conflicting emotions. He was happy Wil was here, but he didn't want to have this conversation! He was not going back home and he wasn't sure how the others would react to that. Still, he just couldn't do it. He followed silently as they headed to the Three Broomsticks, hanging back just a step or two behind the others. As determined as he was about how this would turn out, he was nervous. Contrary to popular belief, Ed didn't exist solely for confrontation. Sometimes he just wanted to do his own thing. Like now.
He noticed Susan smiling at him as they walked in the door and his mind went into hyper-drive mode. Did she know what he was planning? Of course, so why was she smiling like that at him? He couldn't figure it out, but he was sure trying to. He shuffled through the place with his siblings, taking a seat in the middle of the room, one with a straight shot at the door. Hopefully he wouldn't need to escape, but he was ready. Just in case.
Then Susan spoke and Edmund turned to stare at her, stunned that she'd led off with that. A slow smile creeped across his face. Right on! He turned to face Wil too. "Susan's right. I can't- no, I won't go home right now. I'm needed here and I want to be here. Sorry, man," he said, trying to soften the blow a little bit, but not really. He wanted it known straight off that he was with Susan on this one. He turned and nodded to his older sister, so relieved that he didn't have to stand alone here that he even winked. Apparently today was a day full of surprised, and it was only beginning.

@william @susanvictoria @edmund Lucy let William pull her with him as they walked to the Three Broomsticks. She was content to stay right where she was under his arm. She could tell Edmund and Susan were both agitated about something, probably worried that Will would tell them they couldn't go back to school. Neither of her siblings were going to be okay with that. As Lucy thought about the possibility of not returning to school, the thought didn't seem too horrible. Of course, she would rather be at school but she could make her dreams work without it. She could study at St. Mungo's under a healer. But Will wouldn't like that because she would need to live near St. Mungo's, which would mean away from him and that would spoil his whole plan for taking them out of school. She would rather say at school. Once in the Three Broomsticks, her siblings immediately started talking. Lucy sat back and listened, hearing what they had to say. She also wanted to know what Will had to say, his opinions mattered to her just as much as Susan's or Edmund's.

It was not a surprise that they knew exactly what he wanted to talk to them about. Their mother had been writing the kids about it and discussing it with Will since the first attack happened in September. It was kind of nice, actually, to see Susan and Edmund sticking together, so sure of themselves. He looked down at the table for a moment, hands clasped in front of him before he looked up again, rolling his shoulders back and straightening. "Listen, I don't want to have to resort to that but I'm not seeing a better option here. Granted, only a fool would attack Hogwarts twice. If we can convince mother of the truth of that fact... she may let you stay. But," he glanced to Lucy, "that is what she sent me here to do. She wants you guys home," he turned back to the other two, "tonight. And I think you should. Then, from there, you can present your case in going back."lily luna potter @susanvictoria @edmund (i ahve no idea how i missed that it was my turn)

Edmund took a deep breath. He was ready to argue against the idea of leaving, but he wanted to present his argument in a calm fashion. Everyone in his family knew he had a short temper, so he wanted to be extra sure that they knew he'd thought through this and had good reasons. Also, he didn't want to start a fight at the beginning of the conversation. It might get there eventually, but he wasn't going to start it out that way.
"Wil, the issue here isn't just about safety inside Hogwarts. It's about the safety if you take us out as well. Say you did take us out of school. Then what? What would we do for the next few months? Go back to muggle school? Hide out somewhere? You know as well as we do that hiding all of us would be hard and very risky. There's always the chance that we're targets for people outside of the school too. No matter what you choose, there is nowhere safer for us than Hogwarts, even if we're only talking about a day or two. At least if I get attacked in Hogwarts, I can defend myself without having to worry about getting in trouble for it." Edmund took a deep breath, not sure how his brother would react to this, but not willing to back down either.

Susan sat back and watched Edmund present his argument. He surprisingly was keeping a level head, especially considering what William was telling them. She of course had expected this, but not that she wanted them to come home tonight. She was a Muggle, and she knew it was difficult to understand what exactly was happening in the wizarding world. All she had to hear was killing and danger, and she immediately flashed back to their fathers demise. “She knows she can’t protect us from every bad thing in the universe Will,” she said softly, looking down into her butterbeer. She was wondering why he was parroting everything their mother said to them, while he got to complete his education and was now a Curse Breaker. Was that not a dangerous profession?
The anger bubbled and Susan looked up at him directly, her eyes bright. “We are no safer at home in the Muggle world than we are here. You cannot expect to drag home three witches and wizards whose magical training is not complete and expect us to be okay with it. Not you, not someone who risks their life on a daily basis in a profession they chose,” she argued, her chin sticking out defiantly. “And don’t think I won’t use the ‘I’m of age you can’t make me leave’ argument William Peter, because I will,” she added boldly.

Lucy's excitment at seeing her brother was diminished somewhat as her siblings started arguing. Granted, the arguing was much calmer than normal, but she still didn't like it. She didn't want to leave, no not at all, but it would be nice to go home and see her mom, to take a break from all that had happened, and then come back after she had regrouped. She did want to come back.
"Ed, Susan, it might be good to go home, just for the weekend. I mean we haven't seen mom in while and it would be nice to take a break from... all of this. A lot has happened and we could use some time to regroup, don't you think? Besides, mum has got to be worried sick, she would feel better if she got to see us." She was sitting next to Will so she could look at both Edmund and Susan.

Will audibly sighed as Edmund jumped in, defensive as ever. "I know you can take care of yourself, Ed, but mum doesn't know everything about our world out here. She doesn't understand how safe Hogwarts really is. What would you think if you had heard that children were killed an kidnapped in a place you have never been to?" he turned to Susan, "and where you sent your children?" He let Susan continue before speaking again, "and according to muggle law you aren't of age, Susan. Mum still has complete custody over you and the Wizarding World respects that. Hence why I can work a dangerous profession. I'm an adult now, a muggle standard adult. You're not."
Lucy spoke up then, the voice of reason in a sea of confusion and anger. She was always the mediator in the group, wanting everyone to be happy. "Lucy is right. You need a chance to get your bearings and mom needs to see you. We can keep talking about the future of Hogwarts and where you fit in to that but you're coming with me tonight." Big brother foot down.

Edmund couldn't help but stare at Susan in pleased surprise. She was on his side. Not that he thought she'd want to leave school, but he hadn't known what she would do. She generally wasn't one to go against Wil. Still, he was glad that he had her support.
Then Lucy took a turn talking and Edmund found himself agreeing with her, to his utter and complete surprise. Not that he really needed a break from the school. Sure, what happened yesterday was terrible and it threw him for a loop, but he didn't feel the need to get away from it. And he was sure that his mother was worried. To his surprise he found his decision swaying.
Then Wil started talking. Right off, his tone was annoyed, which made Ed feel defensive once more. Of course Wil wouldn't make this decision easy. He asked Wil a question and then didn't even wait for an answer before turning to Susan. Of course. Typical. Get Ed out of the way so you can deal with the real problem. Well, no matter what Wil thought, Ed wasn't going to make this easy. His previous indecisiveness about his decision to stay firmed up once more. He wasn't leaving. Not unless he knew for exactly how long.
As Wil seemingly pretended to be interested in what was going on, Ed lost his patience. All Wil really cared about was doing what he'd been told by their mother. Good luck with that, Ed thought furiously.
He began calmly, though his tone was scathing, showing his clear disdain for his brother. "I have my bearings just fine, Wil. Go ahead and take Lucy home to Mum since she's so keen to go," he started, gaining furious energy as he went. "But leave me out of it. You have no idea what I," he gestured to Lucy and Susan as well, "-We went through yesterday. It was terrible. I've never seen anything like it and I don't want to again, but I am not doing this after dealing with that. I don't care if I'm not an "adult". I'm not going. Not unless I know exactly when I'm coming back. I have things to do here, people that depend on me and I'm not abandoning them for an undetermined amount of time just because Mum's scared that I'm away and bad people are after me. Bad people are after us, no matter where we are. I'm safer here and I actually have things to do. I'd only be a nuisance at home anyways. You know me," he continued bitterly with a roll of his eyes.
"Later. I'm off," he finished without a warning. He stood and spun away from there table, striding quickly into the nearby crowd. He was not going to let Wil try to talk him out of this, he was going somewhere his brother couldn't find him or try to make Ed do what he wanted. He was done with the whole situation.

Susan gave Will a sad sort of smile. It said she understood where he was coming from, but she could not agree with what he was saying. "We're not Muggles though Will, not really. I think we must choose who we are and I choose to embrace that magical side of me. I am an adult now, and if that means I don't have a place in our home, then I will go elsewhere," she said, then closed her mouth. She couldn't believe she had just said that; did she really mean it? She thought about it for a few seconds, and realized that she meant every word what she said. It was time for her to stop hiding behind her royalty, and become her own person.
As Ed got up and left, Susan watched him leave. "I know you mean well Will, but you don't know what we've been through the past few days. Lu, I'm sorry, but I cannot go home right now. There's just too much at stake for me here," she said. She excused herself and ran out after Edmund. "Ed! Wait up!" she called, catching up to her younger brother. "How are you feeling?" she asked him.
