Desi let the boys go, for now. She wasn't worried about them. At this point everyone could escape and she wouldn't care. All that mattered to her now was the fact that her little sister was standing before her, a traitor. Desi raised an eyebrow as Zander called back to Bay, claiming that he'd see her soon. She didn't look at her, though. She kept her eyes and wand on Braelynn while all of this was happening.
"So. Love does conquer all, doesn't it?" she spat, clearly sarcastic and cold in her delivery. She took one step forward, stepping away from the couch. "No wonder I haven't seen any spiders around here. You've been getting rid of them, haven't you?" that was only the surface of why she was feeling so... betrayed. So empty. Desi didn't like feeling empty.
"What will you do now?"

Just like Desirae hadn't looked away from Braelynn when the boys left, Braelynn's gaze never left her sister. She almost looked at Zander though, but instead just nodded slightly. She'd catch up to them. Maybe. Actually, who knew. Heck, she didn't know what she was going to do. She needed to stall Desirae, obviously. At least long enough for help to arrive. But how? The way Desirae had her wand pointed at her made the girl think it might end in a duel....
Could Braelynn bring herself to duel her sister..?
Braelynn took another step into the room, though did raise her wand yet. Part of her wanted to flinch at Desirae's harsh comment, but she held her ground, refusing to let that side of her show. The weak, submissive girl that Desirae could manipulate and twist any way she wanted. "No, justice does. Love is what made me stay this long." Love for her sister, who she clung so dearly too. Love for the boy that she wanted to protect more then any other.
Oh, so Desirae noticed the decrease in spider numbers. Braelynn's expression didn't change as she nodded once more. "If anyone had figured out what I was doing, it would have been you. I had to make sure that didn't happen." Actually, she'd been killing spiders since she first got the idea. Human eyes were easy to hide from. But spiders... They were tricky, easily over looked due to their size.
"I don't want to fight you, Desirae." She whispered, unable to hide the wave of emotion she felt. No, she knew she couldn't duel Desirae. She couldn't hurt her sister. "Please. We could leave, right now. Away from all of this. Please."

Desi let out a full on laugh, "Justice, Braelynn? You think what you're doing is just? You're abandoning your kind. Your family. You think that's just?" she took a slow step forward, "if love made you stay this long then-" her voice started harshly, but she slowly started to lower her wand then, her eyes softening only slightly, "then how can you leave? How can you leave me?" Desi rarely showed her real feelings, and if you could get them out of her that was a miracle. And that was happening now. She let Desi see the heart in her eyes, the pain of betrayal.
So she was killing spiders. Desi scoffed at that, lowering her wand a little more and shaking her head as Bay went on to whisper that she didn't want to fight her and that she wanted Desi to leave with her.
Desi hesitated a moment at that, lowering her wand all the way down so her arm was at her side. She stared into her sisters eyes. She saw so many things there. The children they once were, the woman Bay had become, the skills her little sister had gained and cultivated. She was amazing, Desirae couldn't deny that. She never wanted to. She had seen what Bay could do...
And that was why she couldn't let her leave.
Her arm flew up again swiftly so her wand was aiming at Braelynn once more. Her expression hardened. "If I can't keep you here, no one can have you. Especially not that Lloyd scum, Flipendo!"

Her kind...?
Braelynn froze at the word, the breath she was exhaling shaking just a little. "I'm not like you Desirae. You, or any of them." He voice shook a little, because, despite saying it, she didn't believe it. She'd been the one too afraid to tell Headmaster Longbottom. She'd let Ethan die, when he didn't have to. It was her fault. She'd been the one lying to protect them. She'd helped them. She was no better then them. Taking a slow, deep breath, she forced herself to calm down, to stop dwelling on it.
And then Desirae was speaking again, asking her how she could do this. Braelynn felt her eyes sting with tears that refused to come. "I don't want to leave you, Desirae. You're my sister! I have to though. Before... before I become something I don't even recognize." Taking another deep breath, she swallowed back the emotions, taking up straighter. "It's my life. I make my own decisions. And no one will ever take those away from me again. Not even you." She spoke with conviction, the words leaving a strange taste in her mouth, not used to speaking her mind so openly. She didn't take them back though. "I'm not cowering anymore. Not to you. Not to Elaine. And certainly not to that horrible man!"
Braelynn's new found confidence faltered for a moment. Because she knew what Desirae had decided. A decision that Braelynn had never even considered possible. Desirae didn't have to say it, Bay knew. Knew this wouldn't just be a duel. It would be a fight for survival. On reflect Braelynn whipped her own wand up. "Protego!" The shield spell got up just in time. Without missing a beat, she took a step forward, wand swishing. "Petrificus Totalus!" She wouldn't hurt Desirae. She knew that. Thankfully there were plenty of spells that were useful in a duel, that didn't require injury.

So, Braelynn didn't think she was one of them, eh? Desi's glared intensified as Bay continued to speak of how she didn't want to leave but she had to. How she wanted to make her own desicions. Where was this sudden bravery coming from? What had inspired her to finally stand up to Desirae after so many years of laying down and taking it all. It was Zander. Just the thought of the boy sent Desi's blood boiling, even more than Braelynn saying she wasn't going to cower anymore. Desi started to shake with even more rage as Bay finished speaking. "What a little honey badger you've become, Braelynn. Imcredbly fierce and even more stupid," she growled, choosing the badger out of irony rather than trying to give a legitimately decent burn. "You will always be one of us, no matter what silly boy you love next. No matter what path you choose, it's in your blood. You're a Rosseau, Braelynn, and Rosseaus don't turn their backs on each other. Not without paying for it," she glared. She would have Bay cowering again before the day was out, before she would even get a chance to leave with that boy.
She wasn't surprised that Bay blocked her spell and cast another within a split second. She was in incredibly gifted dueler, Desi had always known that. Still, when the second spell was cast Desirae was read for it, "protego!" she cast her own block before aiming her wand at a coat hanger just being Bay and summoning it toward her in an attempt to smack her sister with it. She didn't wait to see if it landed before casting another. "Stupify!" She leapt forward at that whether the spell hit or not, swinging her leg in an attempt to knock Bay to the ground. Whether it worked or not, her next spell would fly at Bay as well, "Expulso!" After the blast from Expulso, another spell sent arrows shot from her wand and the tips lit with fire, a little trick she had learned from Elaine.
Finally, she stood before Braelynn and assessed the damage from what had landed verses what hadn't. She pointed her want right at Braelynns chest, her eyes stinging with tears that she hadn't realized where falling the entire time she had been hurling spells at her sister. "Last chance," her tone was harsh then, but suddenly her expressions softened just a bit, "don't leave."
If Bay refused, she had one more spell up her sleeve. "Crucio."
@braelynn (( I need ONE more post as Desi before we call Leigh)) Expulso: The Expulso Curse[3][5] (Expulso[1]) is a curse[3] used to produce immense explosions, blasting the target apart[1] with a burst of blue light[4]; it has enough force to throw people into walls[

Desirae was angry. More angry then Braelynn had seen her in a long, long time. Bay almost took a step back, barely managing to her stop herself and hold her ground. She wasn't going to run anyway. "I'm ready to pay for it, Desirae. Whatever the price may be." She whispered. She was. Even if the price was her own life, at least it was hers.
Braelynn shouldn't have taught Desrae how to duel. She realized that went the hanger smacked her upside the head, making her stumble forward and drop her wand. It was smart. And, in a practice duel she would have applauded the creativity. It had been hard enough to disorient her momentarily and lose her balance. In this situation, it put Braelynn at an immediate disadvantage. As she took a step, to try and retrieve her wand and retaliate, she saw the flash of another spell. A startled side step was all that saved her from the spell, but again, before she could act Desirae was there. Desirae's plan was simple, but extremely effective. Keep Bay on the run, and don't give any openings for retaliation. The leg sweep was the turning point though, throwing Bay off balance long enough for the next spell to explode next to her, throwing her back with enough force that her whole body screamed with agony as she hit a wall, her ears ringing. She must have blacked out for a moment, because there was a different pain after that. Burning, sharp, Braelynn let out a whimper as she crumpled to the ground, eyes wide as her mind tried to catch up with what had just happened.
Desirae was.... crying.
Braelynn didn't move, couldn't, as she stared up at her sister, her breath ragged as she tried to catch her breath and ignore the pain. When was the last time Desirae cried..? She couldn't remember. Her sister had always been so strong, always so confident. "I'm... sorry..." Bay managed to breath, the words feeling like needles as they came out. But all the pain she'd experienced up until that moment was nothing compared to what happened next. As her sister performed one of the unbreakable curses on her. Braelynn screamed, her body shaking violently. And then.. everything just went numb. Numb, and dark.

"I'm... sorry..." Those words were all she needed to hear to know that Braelynns life was over. She cast the cruciatus curse without skipping a beat. There was no hesitation within her anymore. She waited until that spell had run it's course before bending down beside Braelynn. She reached over and brushed a lock of hair out of Bay's face then clasped her chin with her thumb and pointer finger, turning Bay's face toward her. "You're no longer my sister," all of her tears had stopped now but her face was contorted with frustration as she released Bays chin and rested the tip of her wand on Bay's throat. "Crucio," she said again. She didn't need to emphasize it much for it to be effective. The boiling blood and rage in her veins was good enough. Her need to destroy this thing that had taken over her sister was strong enough. Her obligation to her family to dispose of any evidence that Braelynn Rosseau even existed. She wasn't sure how long she was there casting more spells at her, kicking her limp body and screaming.. She didn't know why she was prolonging it so much. Why didn't she just kill her already? Why couldn't she just do it? Another few spells caused slashes to appear across Bay's skin and blood stained the girls clothes. Desi bent down again, overcome by some emotion she didn't recognize, and grabbed Bay's shoulders. She lifted the girl and began shaking her. "Bay, get up! Get up!" she didn't recognize her own voice as she screamed out, suddenly realizing the attention she must have been drawing this whole time. She heard voices coming... she slowly released Bay's shoulders and lifted her hands to eye level. Her hands stained with her sisters blood. She caught her breath, a strange awareness coming over her as one of the masked men ran into the room, stopping two feet short of Desi and Bay. Desi slowly raised her head to look up at him. Her voice was low and flat as she spoke, "the prisoners are escaping. They've called for help. Warn the others to get out of here," the man didn't move at first, looking from Bay's limp body on the ground to Desi's blood covered hands. "I SAID GO!" she screamed and the man darted out, no doubt warning the others so they could escape before the entire ministry and the Order showed up. Desi didn't move though, not yet... @leigh @braelynn (your turn Leigh, then Desi needs one more to escape before you tag Carson

@braelynn running back into the building leigh was aware that someone was following him. he'd hears the meagle teacher call out after him, heard footsteps behind him as he had started to run back to the building. he couldn't work out why he was doing this, every thought in his head told him to turn back around and get out of there. make it back alive so river didn't have to face their family alone. so that he still had a brother. he had used zander's family against him and he hadn't even thought about his in the last while. he looked around, finding the hall that would lead him back to desi and bay. he pushed himself on as he reached the room they had been in and he stopped dead when he saw her on the floor. she was still alive right? without caring that desi was still there he gripped the wand in his hand, ready to defend himself if she tried anything and he crossed the room, crouched by bay and shook her shoulders. he couldn't tell if she was breathing and the blood that was coming from her .. so much blood. he looked up at desi. moved to stand up and aimed the wand at her. she'd done it .. and he didn't understand the feeling that felt like it was slowly crushing his chest. he was sure she was dead. almost. in the corner of his eye he swore he saw her breathe but he wasn't about to take his attention off desi, he needed to get bay out of there and that meant keeping desi away from her and he figured the fastest way to do that, was tell her she was dead. "you killed her desirae .."

"you killed her desirae .."
"Wh-what?" Desi stood, taking several quick and panicked steps back, away from Braelynn and Leigh. "No," she said, her eyes widening and she shook her head rapidly. "NO. She's not dead. She's not dead," she repeated, a wild look in her eye as she lifted her wand again. She didn't point it at Raleigh, though. No, she was aiming at Braelynn, as if she was somehow going to make a difference in this. Then she shook her head again, "just... get that out of here." She tried to sound harsh, calling Bay a 'that' instead of a 'her' was her attempt at doing so, but that's where it stopped. Her voice was shaky and low as she spoke. Then she turned on her heel an ran, catching up with the others to escape.

Carson didn't have any trouble following the boy as he ran back into the building. However he did have a moment of preparation before opening the door to the mansion. He didn't know what he was going into and he wasn't about to do that without at least a few defensive spells.
Once they were cast he made his way into the building. Just inside the door he saw a scene that made his heart sink. There were arrows dotting the room and bits of rubble scattered around. All of that was nothing compared to the scene just steps away from him.
A young girl lay on the ground covered in blood, and it was obvious that no one had stopped the bleeding yet. The boy he had been chasing was kneeling next to her, but wasn't looking at her. He was looking at the other side of the room, as if someone had just left.
Carson did a quick scan of the room, determining that no one else was there before dashing to the girl. He knelt down next to her, opposite the boy, and ignored the blood on the ground. A glance at her body told him that she had been badly beaten, and might not make it through the night. He set to work anyway. He knew quite a bit of healing magic, a necessity in his line of work, and began casting spells. To stop the blood, to splint broken bones, to give her body a boost of adrenaline. That should keep her alive until they got to St. Mungo's. His arms slipped under her and he scoped her up. Standing he looked back at the boy.
"Come on, We need to get this girl to the hospital, and we need to get you out of here."
