This was weird. Strange. And unusual to boot.
He was confused --obviously-- as he walked up the staircase towards the sixth floor--a floor he didn't visit very often as he had no reason to...the Ravenclaw common room being on the fifth floor if he had to see a student to it and the library on the forth and his classroom and office on the third. And so when he got a request from the headmaster to see him at the end of classes to day--he didn't understand. Why? Why was he needing to be seen? It wasn't as if he had done anything disastrously wrong--or at least he didn't think he had. He had been having classes, teaching his students, helping them out with charms they couldn't quite grasp and then going on his merry little way. Not that he was worried mind you. He had nothing to hide so to speak and so he had no reason to be worried about this meeting.
It didn't change the fact that he was still confused as hell about it though.
The headmaster he was sure had never seen him before, met him before or even looked at the charms professor before (oh he had no idea did he?). And Zach hadn't really given the man too much thought. Sure he had found it incredibly odd that he had been appointed headmaster after only five years as teacher when if we were going by years taught then he -- having taught for twelve years -- or perhaps even Professor Longbottom should have been considered more then he had. Zach had a funny suspicion that he had a helping hand in getting the position--but he didn't dare voice his suspicions out loud. He did not wish to have his job in jeopardy or his head on the chopping block right now. Not with everything else going on.
The closer he got to the headmaster's office the less confused he became and the more--the more curious he became. The more intrigued. All of this time and they didn't even bother to say boo to each other and now he had a chance to get to know this man...the man that became headmaster under such odd circumstances. And he found himself interested in this meeting now. He finally arrived at the door and knocked. He only had to wait a moment before he heard a voice on the other side and he took this as his cue to enter--and open the door and enter he did.
"Good evening headmaster. You wished to see me?" he asked simply as he waited for the other's response...

The papers around his desk had been stuff he had just gotten dropped off from Avyanna about the different regulations he was trying to have changed within the Ministry controlling the education at Hogwarts. So far everything had gone to plan in his quest to have the regulations changed the board fully supported him of course, and Avyanna had gotten mostly everything approved on her end just a few things needed the Minister to sign off on. Near the end of the week he had a meeting with the Minister about the proposals in question that needed to be changed, he would have to convince the Minister to back him on the changes. Very easy thought Burt as he had backed the Minister in a corner, if he opposed Burt on the moves he would come under fire from Avyanna, the Experimental Research Committee, and of course the entire governing board. He stopped from the paperwork and took a little sigh as he felt, very well of what he had accomplished so far in the new position. Yet however, his plans were far from being done or being put into action, he had small tweaks to do considering the ongoing curiosity of his Professor Walton Grey and now a new article about him in the Daily Prophet’s Spotlight Weekly. Bloody Nightingale, she won’t stop thought Burt rolling his eyes and then his gaze snapped to the door as he heard a knock.
Walking in was the Charms Professor Zachery Eielson, he had completely forgot he had sent for the Professor to come see him at the end of the day. It was time he told the Professor a secret he had been keeping from the man for over a decade. Zach had been held hostage by a family friend of his who was a death eater for years and Burt had help him escape from the situation years ago when he was Deputy of the Magical Law Enforcement Department, right before the fall of the Ministry. He motionted with his hand to a chair for the younger man to take a seat as he finished signing some paperwork and getting up moving to a rather large eagle that was sitting on a stand next to his desk. ” Talon, these need to get to Avyanna, hurry”whispered Burt, and the eagle took off flying out a window that closed with a snap of Burt’s fingers, moving back to his desk his gaze lowered at Zach as he stood up. Sitting he down he gave a long sigh and finally spoke to the younger man ”Professor, do you remember back in 1996, maybe 1997 escaping from your captors? You had someone who helped you at that time, what do you remember”said Burt, his tone was blunt and to the point, he stared at Zachery very hard looking right into his eyes waiting for an answer, before he told him the truth.

There was just something about this man's presence in general--even when he was a fellow professor of Transfiguration--that always seemed to put Zach on edge. He wasn't sure what, he wasn't why--and a part of him knew that he could be acting totally ridiculous but still--it was there. That feeling that something was a little off about the other. Again though--he wasn't about to say anything. Zach already felt as if perhaps he had overstepped his boundaries when he had accepted that interview with the daily prophet reporter—Alyssa. Thankfully she had done what she said she would do and while she used his comments—she kept his name out of the article. And so it could have been any professor who had said what he had said.
He watched as the man whispered something to his eagle and sent the bird off –letters in tow—going to he only knew where. Not that it was any of Zach’s business but he couldn’t’ help but wonder as the eagle flew off obeying its master’s orders. Zach had wisely left Yula snoozing in his office with the door shut. He could not imagine her seeing the eagle and staying calm. So definitely a wise choice on his part. The other motioned for him to sit and Zach did so—sitting at a chair on the other side of the desk as he waited for the man to say something to him,
What he said was surprising and the professor had not seen it coming. He was asking about how much he remembered of the night back in the nineties when he had gotten rescued from Seth and the small group of death eaters who had been holding him hostage for the previous eight months—
”Well what kinda question was that?!” Zach blurted out without really thinking—the surprise clearly evident on his face as he had not expected such a question from anyone really let alone the headmaster. They didn’t know each other…did they? He suddenly found himself unsure about that. There were a lot of people he saw and thought he knew but he wasn’t sure how. The memory charms rendering him incapable of making those kinds of connections in his mind like he had been able to beforehand. And so often time he would act like he was just meeting someone for the first time when in actuality he had known them.
Was this another one of those instances?
After a moment of getting over the sheer surprise of such a question being asked in such a brunt and upfront way…Zach began to speak—a frown on his face as he didn’t like talking about that time in his life and he wasn’t too keen on it now—but he was too curious as to why he wanted to know in the first place and that overcame his reluctance,
”Of course I remember.” he said simply, ”They were going to kill me. Despite the charms and in a few cases torture—I wasn’t going to join them. I was never going to join them. They stood for everything that I was told and taught was not the way to go. One of them was trying to reason with them—to say that they shouldn’t give up on me just yet.” a pause as he snorted and shook his head…the absurdity of what he just said was eye roll worthy, ”But they had enough—they figured after eight months…they shouldn’t waste their time on me anymore. One of them tried with the Sectumsempra curse—the other was going to use the killing curse but someone knocked them back. The next thing I knew there was someone grabbing my arm and practically dragging me out of there.” he stopped with another shake of his head…not really wanting to continue on and hoping he had given the other enough of whatever information he wanted…

His eyes grew wide a little bit and looked a little shocked at how the Professor had blurted out his answer to Burt’s questioning wondering what kind of question it was. Not another Walton, I should have let him been killed. Damn it! thought Burt for a quick second and then he looked back up at Zachery who had started to recite what he remembered of that day Burt rescued him. He nodded slowly as he listened to him, so he remembered being dragged out of the place but, not by who it seemed. This was a good thing for Burt as he was going to need the help of this Professor later on with some of his plans regarding the school. However; he was not sure if the man would help him despite saving his life Burt had a feeling that this man moral compass was too strong for him to even alter considering Seth and the Death Eaters had not been able too. He gave another nod as Zach finished his recount of the story of that night, slowly he got up from his chair and walked over around the desk and looked right at Zach.
”There is something you need to know Zachery, the night you were saved and taken away from Seth…I was the person who helped you” said Burt, his voice was calm and blunt, getting straight to the point. He stood up and walked a little ways over to a cabinet in the office, an Pensive floated out of the cabinet and landed on a table near Burt’s desk. Picking up a vial from the doors of the cabinet he moved over and pours a silvery liquid into the basin of the Pensive and a memory started to form showing the faithful incident of Burt rescuing Zachery. The Pensive had been something that had came with the office which was something that came in handy for Burt as he stored memories of different situations and memories from people he had stolen over the past, normally this cabinet doors never unlocked anymore since Burt took the office for himself. ”The memory is true, not alerted in any form I assure you. I never told you because it was never needed to be known, for now”said Burt he put his hand on Zachs shoulder and motioned for him to take a closer look at the memory. He moved back over to his throne like chair behind his desk, his silver robes swishing around the corner of the desk.
Sitting down Burt crossed his fingers and hands together as he awaited a reply from Zachery, he was sure this was all very confusing to him. He hoped however that the visual of seeing the memory will help him clearly understand exactly everything of that night and Burt rescuing him.I grant you site, now you will grant me something thought Burt, his icy blue eyes watching Zach closely, not missing a beat on every emotion that played on the man’s face. This would also decided if Zachery would be treated as an enemy or as a friend, when everything was said and done and Burt had rightfully taken his place as Minister.

Eh so Zach had been surprised. Sue him. He hadn't seen this coming okay? In his pondering of what this meeting could possibly be about--this was the very LAST thing he ever would have thought of. It never crossed his mind that he would come to meet whoever it was that had saved his skin. Those three death eaters showed him no mercy and without a doubt they would have killed him without a second thought. He would always be grateful for whoever risked their neck to save his. He just never thought he'd get the chance to say so. Bummer yes-- but he would get over it. If the other didn't want to be known then he supposed they wouldn't be known. It was as simple as that.
Only it wasn't. It wasn't simple at all. In fact it was about to get so far the opposite it wasn't even funny.
As the other got to his feet and walked around the desk--Zach kept his eye on the other, the professor's gaze as unwavering as the headmaster's as the two stared at each other for a moment. Then he told him simply—bruntly—that he had been the one who had saved his skin. The one who had helped him get away from the death eaters who were going to kill him otherwise. Zach’s mind was sent reeling. Him? Seriously?! It wasn’t that he didn’t believe the other but with all the bad press surrounding the other—he couldn’t help but wonder—was he like that then? Did he have a motive? Why did he keep this from him when they had been working at the same place for so long? And then he kind of felt bad about thinking such things about someone who saved his ass when he really didn’t have to. There was no law saying he had to do what he did—oh the conflicted thoughts running through his mind right now.
The pensive was brought out and Zach watched with curious eyes as the thing floated out of the cabinet and as the headmaster brought out a vial that held within it a memory. The memory he assured Zach was not altered or messed with it anyway as he poured it into the magical cauldron shaped thing. He felt the other’s hand on his shoulder and Zach glanced up at the other before submerging himself in the memory,
He remembered the rickety shack like house in the middle of bloody nowhere. How could he forget? It was where he unwillingly spent eight months of his life. The sting of betrayal still ran through the seventeen year old’s body as he thought about how he had been fooled. How his parents had been fooled. They thought Seth was a friend – someone who they could count on. But no—it had been a lie. It had all been a lie! Just so he could get another recruit? You had to be joking! And yet here he was—duct taped to a chair, bruised and bleeding freely from a multitude of gashes and cuts to his body no thanks to several doses of the sectumsempra curse, not to mention fighting to stay awake as Seth and two other death eaters fought over whether they killed him or not.
‘This kid has been a colossal waste of our time Seth!’ the female hissed as she smacked the man in the face. Seth just stood there stoic like as he felt the woman’s fingernails scratch his face as she lashed out angrily towards him. He just let out an annoyed growl and you could just tell he wanted to say something but he kept his mouth shut. As far as the three of them went—he was low man on the totem pole.
’I agree. You said this kid would be useful to us.’ the older man said with a stern look on his face. He was clearly sick of this little game they had been playing with the pipsqueak Ravenclaw graduate. Eight months was far too long for this. And he was clearly getting agitated by it.
Seth sighed softly—knowing that he was already in up to his ears in trouble. But even he had no idea that Zach would be quite this stubborn—I mean he knew the kid was stubborn and stuck to his morals but even he didn’t see the kid being this stubborn and the memory charms not working ’I’m sure we can try something else. Maybe we’re just not—‘
’ENOUGH OF THESE GAMES!’ Zach even flinched as the woman shouted – an explosion of anger that left the adult Zach looking in on the memory a bit shaky. ’You favor him but understand that I will not let ANYTHING get in our way. He is useless to our cause. He has been nothing but trouble—trouble we don’t need more of. He dies now!’
He could see the terror in his own eyes as she raised her wand towards him. Zach shuddered as he saw the cold blooded, none at all caring and downright psychotic look to her face. He then saw his own self…scared to death and shaking so bad and breathing in a panicked manner. He had figured this was it. He was dead. And there was nothing he could do about it. No one was coming to save him. All this time he had hoped for a rescue and it was all for naught. This was not how he pictured it ending. He didn’t WANT it to end. He wanted to see his parents again and Landon—a hard lump formed into his throat as he thought about his family. He wasn’t going to see them again. His head hung low and for the first time in the entire eight months captive—he let himself cry in front of them. It didn’t matter of they thought he was weak now. And so he clenched his eyes closed and waited for the final blow.
… …….
But it never came. Instead came an almighty crashing sound followed by cursing and shouting and his eyes shot open as he wondered himself just what the hell was going on? The death eaters had been knocked back by what was surely an incredible force. And then his hands dropped to his side as he heard someone use to Diffindo charm on the duct tape that had been around his wrists. Though he didn’t have much time to roll his shoulders much less comprehend that he was getting saved before someone grabbed his arm and hoisted the half conscious boy to his feet. Zach whimpered softly and panicked as he tried to pull away but a voice—whispered and harsh spoke to him. ’Relax Zach –I’m here to help. Let’s get out of here and then he apparated …. They were gone…both gone…with three very angry death eaters in their wake….
Zach shuddered as he lifted himself out of the memory—he didn’t like reliving his past. He didn’t like talking about it let along living through a pensive memory. His mouth was dry and he felt himself starting to mildly panic. But he took a few deep breaths to steady his nerves. It was eight months he never would have wished on anyone—not even his worst enemy. Now that he thought about it—he should have known that he knew the man from somewhere. That same brunt and short way of speaking—it was the same then as it was now. So this was his savior indeed. The questionable headmaster of Hogwarts. It was – interesting to say the least. There was just one thing nagging him about this though-- only one thing yet it was rather big--at least for him it was anyways,
"I don't understand just one thing sir. We've been working at the same place for over five years--why wait till now to tell me this?" he asked purely out of curiosity. The other knew this. He KNEW this! He could have been helping Zach with the memory charms reversal. He could have been helping him seek his birth family. He could have been helping him and yet he kept this from him. KEPT IT! He didn’t understand why he didn’t come forward with this years ago. And he wanted an answer….
and he wanted a clear one thank you.

As he sat in his chair behind his desk he watched as Zachery put his head into the Pensive and saw it glow as the memory took shape, meaning he was seeing it now. For the first time he was going to remember everything about what happened that night, how someone had rescued them and gotten them out of there. It was a simple but powerful disarming charm he had sent to counteract the woman who went in for the kill on the young Zachery at the time. Before the other two men, one of them being Seth who had taken him didn’t even stand a chance and he sent them flying backwards and knocked them out with ease before, they could even cast a shield charm. They were nothing, the woman was the strongest…and she was easy too thought Burt he leaned in closer to the desk as he saw the memory was starting to come to an end now. Would he help Burt however? That was the big question here and the whole reason he had asked for him to come tonight. He needed to gage this Professor’s loyalties and see if he would stand with Burt like he had planned and hoped or, he would have to make other plans. Avyanna is getting tired of changes…the old bat thought Burt rolling his eyes he was starting not to give a bloody damn about anything she thought or said, she was starting to outlive her usefulness.
He watched the face of the young Professor in front of him as he was surprised by the entire memory itself. He nodded at him slowly as he watched him take it in, wondering what the first question would be out the Professor’s mouth. He assumed that he would have many questions, and for someone who did not like a lot of questions, he would allow such and answer them as well. Unless, he pried for too much information then those questions would not be answer and he would have to let the Professor know, gently of course, where his place was. I won’t allow another Walton Grey on my staff thought Burt narrowing his eyes at Zach. The question that poured out of his mouth, only got a very slow nod and narrowed blue eyes that looked right into Zach’s having no problem on using his ability to pry into the mind on the Professor, and if he didn’t avoid eye contact then he would be a sitting duck for Burt, in fact he kind of was a sitting duck for him. The answer, the real truth, would not be the one to come out of Burt’s mouth when he spoke as he knew he could not give that answer to Zach.
The real answer was that he had waited until he really needed the Professor’s help, and such a moment was starting to come up in a very short time frame, that was growing increasingly smaller day by day, thanks to the current meddling Walton Grey and now the Daily Prophet. ” I have kept it a secret from you, and I apologize for that. I felt you did not need to know, really, I was very much so wrong and I feel the need I must tell you” said Burt, his voice shook a little as he gave a nod to the Professor. Now it was time for the skills of the old man to come into play here, for soon this man would be a puppet to the old man. Dance puppet, dance! thought Burt, smirking on the inside as he kept a blank and straight face on the outside, still looking into Zach’s eyes.

"Ahh I see..." was all he managed to say to the other, but believe you me--that was not all that was on his mind. He didn't believe what he had been told. As a matter of fact, he didn't believe it for a single second. He had too many doubts about the other and second guesses about him and the whole bit with how he obtained such a high job to really believe what he was saying. He wanted to don't get me wrong. He was the headmaster after all...someone whom you should be able to trust. But he couldn't bring himself to do so. The answer he got seemed--well it seemed to be too simple. Call him crazy and what not-- but it was just too easy. That answer was too easy. Zach didn't trust much at face value anymore--not after Seth's betrayal. I mean it was simple enough to spit out an apology these days and not really mean it--and Zach wasn't sure if the other actually meant it or if he was just acting sorry to get him to shut up and move on.
Well it wasn't going to be that easy. Zach wanted to know the truth and if the other told him or if Zach found out himself through a little snooping--that was on Burt's head right now. That was up to him and what he said or didn't say as this case may be. Zach wasn't above a little sneakiness to get to the truth mind you. And after many years of being lied to--he wasn't about to let himself get lied to or fooled again. How did that saying go again? 'Bite me once, shame on you...bite me twice shame on me?' That was him right now and he refused to be the shamed one.
Of course he wasn't going to tell that to the other's face now. Sure he had his doubts, sure he had his second guesses--but Zach wasn't out to make enemies. He wasn't out to make himself a target. Of course he wasn't out to make himself a target last time either but that was beside the point. He was trying his damnedest to stay neutral in these potentially (read: very) sticky matters. Politics were never his foray and never would be. And he didn't want to stick his nose into it. But it was becoming harder and harder as the days went by--and things happened. And soon he wondered if he would be able to stay neutral...but for now, when he could...he would. He would keep his thoughts to himself, his nose out from where it didn't belong and keep doing his job. But could he keep it up?
Of course that all depended on this meeting and what happened right here and right now. Between him and the other.
The older man’s blue eyes kept staring into his own with an unwavering intensity that made Zach mentally squirm. It was almost like Seth’s eyes (only his were green…ish) and that similarity alone was enough to creep Zach out. It was kind of rude to not keep eye contact with someone you were speaking to but Zach couldn’t help but look away. And as the other kept trying to stare at him—Zach would look away. He had heard of legilimency and he wasn't sure if the other had the ability or not. Or if he was trying to use the ability on him if he did have it.
Zach’s eye suddenly narrowed in slight suspicion of the other, ”Is the staring match really necessary sir?” he asked suddenly feeling rightly weirded out and concerned and not at all settled here…cause if he was trying to use mind tricks on him, then Zach would be a highly unamused camper right about now…but he wasn’t going to accuse without proof….not just yet anyways.

He was a little surprised by the answer that was given by Zach on why Burt had waited so long to tell him. He waited a little more continuing to stare at the man waiting for more of a response, because he had thought his own answer to the man was dumb in fact. One that would not satisfy Burt if he in fact was on the other side of the chess match going between the two men. Of course it wasn’t really a chess match between them because Burt was the player here. The Charms Professor sitting before him was simply another pawn in his game, yes a pawn one of not particular importance. Unless he could become useful to him, and his causes, which Burt was highly suspecting the pawn would lean the other way. So no bigger response, and this man is the Head of Ravenclaw…maybe Avyanna was right thought Burt he almost wanted to roll his eyes at even the thought that Avyanna was right that they could not trust Zachery. He looked away for a second and up to the remaining filled portraits of the previous Headmasters of Hogwarts, absent was the famous Albus Dumbledore.
However the ever so infamous Severus Snape was in his portrait and looked upon the two men and his eyes just stared directly down at Burt like he was trying to read Burt’s mind. He gave a small a smile to the portraits above him and his eyes immediately moved back to the Professor as he spoke again. He gave a slight chuckle that had escaped him, not a planned one at the words he heard the younger man speak. A staring match, much more than that thought Burt he did not look away from Zach even as the other man turned his eyes away from Burt’s. The man was smart he had to give him that, any longer looking into Burt’s eyes and he may just started to pry into those dark suppressed memories in the mans tiny brain. Yes extremely tiny..I suppose we have a fake Ravenclaw thought Burt he straightened himself up in his chair and leaned forward to address the Professor in front of him. ”Ah yes I am sorry forgive me”said Burt his voice was dry and void of emotion as he kept looking in the direction of the other man, thinking of his next words. ” I suppose you have other questions to ask me? I mean no harm to you, if I did you would be in a coffin right now thanks to those three” said Burt, his voice in a rather oddly cold tone.
He did mean no harm to the young Professor unless things went in an entirely new direction. Currently, it seemed all his plans were going in new directions, ones he did not appreciate at all. So as he sat back waiting for any more questions from the man, the back of his mind began tossing around the thought of a new direction that may happen. Betrayal is not something I take lightly…let this man recognize that or his life must come to a hasty crisis of lies, scandals, and maybe even death thought Burt he picked up a cup of tea on his desk and started drinking it as he played around with the thought of killing the young Professor. As much as he wanted to get rid of any of his less then helpful Professors, Zachery was not before Walton Grey on the list of Professors. Two for the price of one…Avyanna can fill one of the positions…Vince would love Walton’s job” a thought that crossed Burt’s mind. Before he knew it he was planning successors for the two without even seriously thinking of killing the two. Never thought as Headmaster I would be thinking of which Professors of mine to kill thought Burt as a slight smile crept across his face at the thought.

Zach didn't rightly care if the other trusted him or not. That was his choice--not Zach's. Zach couldn't make the other like him nor was he going to even try. Zach was who he was as corny as that sounded and if you had problems with it then it was your problem--not his. But that was only touching the iceberg here and he knew it. There was something more to this then the other was letting on. Call it a gut instinct and it could be wrong--but the professor had learned over the years that the little voice in the back of your head sometimes knew what it was talking about. And that you should trust it. And this time he trusted it. He wasn't sure why he trusted it now versus other times...but he just was.
His eyes turned sharp as he glanced up at the headmaster as he spoke, "You'll excuse if I am having trouble putting my thoughts together at this time." Zach's retort was immediate. If the other thought that he didn't have questions--oh he was mistaken. Sorely mistaken. Zach had questions. A lot of them. He was just trying to pick and choose his battles at the moment. To choose which would be the better questions to ask and which ones should he not ask right now. Should they wait for later or should he just charge in? He was very much a Ravenclaw in the way he was being analytic about this. He just knew that the other wanted something from him. What? Who knew? When did he want it? Who knows that too? He surely didn't. And Zach wasn't keen on surprises as we all knew. He didn't want to be put in the cross hair for something he didn't even know about it. And so that seemed like the best place to start as any,
"I do appreciate what you did for me. Your right--I would be dead if you hadn't done anything."" and that was in the forefront of Zach's mind right now. He didn't want to appear ungrateful cause he wasn't. Someone saved your life here and that wasn't something to take lightly. But on the flip side he refused to let himself be used for anything by anyone. He didn't care the agenda--the times--or who it was. Good or bad. Self-serving or sacrificing. He was a man unto himself and he made his own choices. No one was going to make them for him thank you.
"But you want something from me though don't you?" he said simply...as he looked back at the other for a moment -- he was relying on his gut and hoping he wasn't wrong (otherwise he was going to look like a right fool)—"And I have to admit I am not big on surprises...so why don't we cut to the chase?" he said suddenly and sharply as he looked back at the other for a moment yet again--eyes narrowing slightly as his suspicions grew and grew with each second that he was in this room and with this man…

Sitting in his chair he quietly watched the Professor in front of him, the old man seemed peaceful and calm and just in a relaxed state as he looked at the younger man in front of him. However; his mind was racing at record speed as he tried to figure out he would put forth his ideas and desires into words to the man in front of him. He had to be careful in what he said to make sure the man did not run and spill stuff to others, he did not want to hear from Avyanna that she was right, he would not tolerate that ever again from her. He nodded at the man and put his heads up in a sympathetic expression, despite have no sympathy really at all for the man. Knowing he needed to be patient with the person in front of him or he could ruin a key piece of his future plans, this was something that would come handy in the near future. ”Would you like something to drink Zach?” asked Burt in a polite and calm tone as he took a sip of his own drink.
Nodding at what the man said about that he was appreciative of what Burt had done for him, saving his life he took a little a victory lap in his head. That was one part of getting one to fulfill a debt they held with someone, and weather this young man knew or not he had a debt with Reynolds. However; he had a feeling that Avyanna was right that the man would not go willing along with Burt’s plans or take his offer at what he was planning on offering him. He would be foolish to do such things, he is not that foolish. He can become great, and do great things thought Burt he straightened himself a little as the man once again started to speak to him. He knew it was going to get down to business very soon. The man was smart he had to give him that, he could already tell Burt wanted something from him he was not going to be able to manipulate this one very easily. Not only did he know he wanted to get to the business right now, not deal with any polite small talk or easing into it.
This was not exactly how Burt had planned for this meeting to take place when he first made the plan involving him almost a decade ago. Even so he could adapt to it very much and would do his best to ensure he got what he wanted if not, other steps would be taken, unfortunate ones. ”You act like I’m going to extort you for payment”said Burt with a slight laugh trying to ease any upcoming tensions in the room. He made sure he was sitting straight up this time when he spoke to the man in front of him, he needed to be in control of the entire situation. ”I’d like you to take the Deputy position one day in near future probably after the holidays…this is an offer one I’d expect you not to discuss with anyone else. I hope I can trust my staff” said Burt in a very calm tone as he give a gaze to the professor to see how he would react to be offered a promotion. He did not want to really explain the whole process of why him, and what is going on with Neville Longbottom and stuff. A deep breath came in and took out of him as he waited to see what would happen, hoping he had not underestimate the younger Ravenclaw.
