drinking alone really sucks. this was the current thought running through one particular gryffindor girl’s mind as she sat, quite alone, at a table at the back of the three broomsticks. she had meant to be sitting with her friends, but alas, somehow every one of them had managed to either get the flu, or missed the deadline for hogsmeade departure, or had too much homework to catch up on to go. elodie had thought nevermind, butterbeers for one weren’t too depressing, but unfortunately, she had been quite wrong. all around her were younger students in gaggles, looking at their senior as if she were some kind of loser. as much as elodie would have loved to tell them that actually, she was quite popular, thank you very much, but figured that it would probably make her sound even more desperate. however, through a few decent minutes of alone time, elodie had come up with an idea so as to not come back from hogsmeade empty handed. her eyes scanned the bar, searching for someone who looked old enough to buy her a bottle of firewhiskey, but young enough to be cool about underage drinking. so far, no luck. old witches in traditional robes clustered the bar stools, and they were definitely a no-go. she was not looking to be told off. having a bottle of any kind of alcohol in the common room was a sure fire way to be the hero of the night. of course, it was absolutely against the rules, and as head girl, she should definitely not be smuggling illicit substances. but, she also adored being adored. and, as she spotted the back of what looked to be a young-ish looking wizard, she thought that tonight, adoration could very well be in her hands. she ran her hand through her hair, and went over to him, tapping him on the back, sheepish grin on her face. ”excuse me, sir…” tagged: @cain words: 362 outfit: ( link) notes: yay!! |

A perk to staying in The Three Broomsticks was being able to come down for a drink whenever one felt like it. And this was one of those times. John was never one for day drinking, as much as he loved to drink, but he also was a big fan of pumpkin juice and butterbeer, believe it or not. They weren't his usual firewhiskey but they would do. John came down to the pub from his room and sat himself down at a table in the corner of the pub. The bartender saw him and recognized him from yesterday when he got in, when he had ordered a butterbeer. Correctly assuming his order would be the same, the bartender brought over a bartender to John and he thanked the woman kindly.
John took a long gulp of his drink, thankful for the refreshing taste. It wasn't often that he enjoyed just a butterbeer by himself. He had to admit that the feeling was nice. Usually he had a strongly alcoholic beverage in front of him and he was with his best mate, Rob. Rob hadn't shown up to Hogsmeade yet, as John wanted a head start, so he was alone. But he didn't feel at all sad or upset by it, for he rarely ever felt that way. He often preferred solitude.
John didn't know anyone in the pub. It was daylight, after all, and the people he usually hung around were Hog's Head regulars at night. This was a different crowd. There were many students in the pub, and that was not something he was used to. John wasn't necessarily a fan of... students. He found them to be quite annoying, honestly. He normally avoided them at all costs. While John was still quite the prankster himself, he thought of younger folks to be less... matured. And while John was still a little immature himself, he still thought that students were annoying to be around.
The man had been busy thinking of just how annoying students were when he felt someone tap on his back. "Excuse me, sir..." John turned around in his chair to look at the person in front of him. It was woman, no doubt. How old, he couldn't be sure. But to John, she seemed at least twenty. He raised his eyebrows momentarily in surprise, for usually John was the one approaching women. Already this one had captured his attention. "What can I help you with, ma'dam?" He asked, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth.

of course, elodie had been planning on just using the stranger to buy her a bottle of firewhiskey, and then she’d be on her merry way back to the castle, stashing the illicit substance in her robes. but, naturally, the plan had to be changed when the stranger turned around, revealing a very handsome face. elodie knew her way around teenage boys. she could write the handbook – though honestly, there needn’t be a handbook, they were so easily wrapped around one’s finger. but suddenly, she felt like a challenge. and the way that he was looking at her… didn’t he know she was a student? excitement and dare bloomed in the girl, and she was again reminded of why she was sorted into the gryffindor house. she liked a risk. elodie cocked her head to the side, dark hair cascading down past her shoulders at the movement, a small smile playing on her lips. ”i don’t mean to intrude, but i couldn’t help noticing – are you here all by yourself?” she asked pseudo-innocently. she pointed lightly at the free barstool across from the small table that he was sitting at. ”it’s just that, all the other tables are taken by students.” she nodded with her head to behind her, where the gaggle of hogwarts students were crowded, mouthing to the stranger, ”bit loud.”tagged: @cain words: 223 outfit: ( link) notes: // |

If there was one thing John noticed about the young woman right off the bat, it was that she was quite attractive. Her dark hair suited her, he thought, and as she cocked her head to the side he thought that the brunette's locks shaped her face perfectly. John couldn't help but raise his eyebrows at her, charmingly, as she offered up a small smile. She was quite the looker. While John was not usually the one being approached by women, he was no stranger to the playing field. He had been wooing women since he basically ride a broom. It came naturally to John. Sometimes, however, his attempts were... futile, but often he succeeded in getting what he wanted that night.
The right side of John's mouth curled up in a half smirk as he gave the woman one simple nod. "I am, indeed," he replied, casually. "It's just that, all the other tables are taken by students," the dark haired woman said. John gave a little chuckle. He knew the feeling oh too well. He gestured to the seat across from him as he looked up at the woman. "By all means," he said. John then took a drink of his butterbeer as he gazed upon the young woman with an eyebrow rasied curiously. There was something about her that definitely intrigued John, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
The old Gryffindor set down his bottle, then folding his hands in his lap as he leaned his chair back on his two hind legs. "So, what brings a woman like you to The Three Broomsticks on a student day?" He asked. John himself actively avoided Hogsmeade on student days, as he couldn't stand being around the younger people. It was quite biased of him, but he didn't much care for technecalities. He just knew he found the students meddlesome and quite annoying, more often than not.
