If you ever need to convince a Romani to do anything, mention money. When Maria got her letter from the Durmstrang high master, stating she was one of the seventh years chosen to accompany them to Hogwarts for the Tri-Wizard tournament, she knew immediately that she needed to go see if her cousin, Elias had gotten a similar letter. But first, she needed to convince her conservative, traditional Romani Grandparents that letting her travel to Bulgaria was, in fact, a good idea. Seeing as they lived in Sweden, it wasn't the simplest of trips. Well... for them. They'd never been good at magic. They were limited to what they'd learned, having never gone to a Wizarding school, or even owning wands. Maria's father had been the same way. In fact, most Romani wizards were like that. Romani were a distrusting people, and rarely stayed in school past the age of twelve, purely because the adults were convinced they'd be exposed to impure beliefs and people. Her cousin, Elias was one exception, as was his mother, her aunt. But since they were estranged from the Romani community, it wasn't too surprising. Maria was another exception. Like her personality, her magic was wild and explosive, and her grandparents couldn't tame it. So, they were forced to enroll her at Durmstrang. Now in her seventh and final year, she was being a chance that few received. A chance at participating in the games, and she was dang blasted going to get their consent! Mentioning that there was usually a money prize to the winner was more then enough, and while they were still focused on that she was able to convince them that she needed to go visit her Aunt and cousin in Bulgaria.
She traveled by floo powder. It was the easiest way of traveling long distances in her mind, But it was terrible to one's appearance. Maria stepped out of the fireplace of a Wizarding pub near her cousin's house with a frown. She could feel the soot in her hair and on her skin, and it thoroughly disgusted. Immediately she pulled out her wand and stepped into the bathroom. With a few skillful swishes, her hair returned to it's neat and perfect sleekness down her back. Her clothes looked crisp and cleaned, as if perfectly ironed, and all the soot gone. Once satisfied she stashed her wand back into the many folds of her fully and vibrant green skirt and headed out. She knew the way to the apartment like the back of her hand. Once at the door, she rapped loudly and her clear voice rang out in perfect Bulgarian. "Elsi! Elias! It's Maria, are you here?" Then she waited. She was sure one of them would be home. If not... she knew how to get in if need by.

@maria <3 It was exceptionally early and Elias had maybe woken up only about ten minutes prior. He was in his bed still, the sunlight peaking through his curtains. He rubbed his eyes and glanced around. He was still in a pair of grey sweat pants and a white tank top. Throwing the blanket off, he sat on the edge of his bed and stretched, a yawn escaping his mouth. Eli rubbed is eyes, stood up and walked into his bathroom.
After going to the bathroom, Elias began brushing his teeth. He rubbed his eyes a bit more, brushed his hair and put it up into a high bun. He'd shower later, right now he was starving. Opening the door, he scrunched his face up at a noise from downstairs. Listening intently, he realized it was only his cousin. With a grin, Eli skipped down the stairs. "Ah, Maria!" Eli hopped off the last step and held his arms out for a hug.

Elias was the one to answer the door. With that familiar grin and already holding out his arms for a hug. Maria, though she wasn't normally a 'grinner', grinned back and stepped into the home and right into his arms quickly hugging him back. "Morning, Elias." She greeted casually. Stepping out of the hug she lifted a hand to lightly ruffle his hair, despite it being pulled back in it's usual high bun. "When are you going to let me do something with that hair? No offense, but you could use more help there." Being a self appointed fashion guru, Maria could spend hours in front of a mirror given a chance. While the cousins shared several physical similarities, hair happened to be a bit one. She, of course, did more with her own, but they had the same, silky dark locks. And she'd been itching at a chance to play with his hair.
"Is Elsi here? Think we could convince her to fix breakfast? I'm starving." Maria had never really called her Aunt Elsi 'Aunt Elsi'. It'd always been just her first name. "Have you checked your mail yet?" Better question. Had he gotten the same letter as her..?

@maria 213 <3 Elias felt Maria return his hug. After the happy realization that she had come to their home, Elias realized how much he needed coffee. With a scratch of his head, Eli gave her a face and shook his head. "No, no, no. I do plenty with it when I feel like it. It's just easier to throw it up then put product in it for it to be curly and not frizzy." It made him sound like a girl but Elias loved his hair, it was something that he found attractive on himself, and when he wanted to look nice, he sure as hell looked great. "You enjoy doing that stuff in the morning, but it just takes up my time of sleep." Eli smiled.
"Yeah, she's here. Might be sleeping or in the shower, not sure...Mum! Wake up! Maria's here!" Elias heard a few noises upstairs and expected his mother to be down in a few. He walked into the kitchen and started making a pot of coffee. "Coffee, Maria?" He questioned, gesturing to a nearby mug. As he was putting in the coffee grinds, his cousin asked about his mail. Elias licked his lips and nodded, before turning around and facing Maria. "Yes, I checked. I'm guessing you got the letter about the tournament as well?"

Maria pouted as he efficiently rejected her request to do something with his hair. It didn't surprise her at all, but she knew she had an adorable pout that usually got her her way. Elias wasn't one to fall for it though. "But it's so pretty when you put product in it." she lightly complained, though there was a teasing hint in her voice. That pout soon broke into a smirk. "You'll at least let me do it for the first day back to school, right?" Or, as it so happened, the day they arrived at Hogwarts. While her cousin was more then capable of making himself presentable (more then presentable. Dastardly handsome), that first feast was going to be an important one for appearances. But first she needed to makes sure he'd been chosen to accompany the High Master to Hogwarts...
Following him into the kitchen, she could faintly hear her Aunt upsides. Getting ready, probably. "Yes, please." Coffee sounded amazing. Considering Bulgaria was an hour ahead of Sweden, it might be early here, but at home it was even earlier. She sat down at the table as her cousin started working on the coffee, and propped her elbows on it. That smirk turned into a wide grin. Of course I got the letter, why else would I be here so early? I needed to make sure you got one." She paused and leaned back, running her fingers through her hair. "From what I've heard about previous tournaments, they don't invite all of the Seventh years to attend. Only those the High Master feels are most likely to be chosen." She felt a swell of pride at that thought. Both cousins had had a rough start when it came to Durmstrang. Maria herself had been leagues behind her classmates. She'd been raised in a home that put little emphasis on academics, so her reading and writing levels had been extremely low for an eleven year old. She'd spent the last seven years catching up, and doing everything she could to prove to her classmates that she wasn't dumb or slow. And Elias? He was the son of a notorious werewolf, Fenrir Greyback. He was even a werewolf himself. He'd faced extreme prejudiced because of that. Basically neither cousins had a good start, and yet both of them had impressed the High Master enough to be chosen. "Who else do you think got the invitation?"

@maria 230 <3 Elias scrunched his face up at his cousin and sighed. "Ugh, yes you can do it for the first day back at school. Not like anyone will care or notice anyways, not with my scary wolf changes." He was being sarcastic of course, and he had come to just realize that not everyone is going to like him and they'll believe anything they hear. Yeah, he didn't have many friends, but that wasn't going to stop him from living his life and being happy.
Maria sat down, waiting for the coffee. It didn't take long to brew, so Elias stayed in his spot next to it standing up. He shrugged at Maria. "Not sure...maybe Isaak, or Luke. Even Emilya, she's quite the witch." Eli hadn't actually thought about that, all he had been thinking about was the potential death that would ensue him if he was chosen from the cup. He hoped Maria wasn't, even though it would probably be fun for her, he'd worry about her too much. The coffee finished as she mentioned how only people who received the letter were specifically chosen. Elias poured her and himself a cup and brought the cream and sugar over to the table where he finally sat down. "I know why they picked you, you're extremely smart, and you're a great witch. Definitely one of the strongest group of female seventh years we've got."

That smirk gave way to a wide, victorious grin. Maria was instantly back on her feet and crossed the kitchen to her cousin. Without any hesitation or shame, she put her hands on his shoulders and, quite flamboyantly, kissed him on the cheek. There were some advantages to her intense personality, it meant when she was happy, she was really happy. "Maravilhoso! You won't regret it!" She did that pretty often, switching languages. Portuguese was the most common. "And I happen to think you're adorable, despite you're 'scary wolf changes'. The Durmstrang girls are just wound up to tight to notice."That and they had to worry about Maria flinging fire at them if they even thought about messing with Elias... Part of his 'bad rep' might have to do with her...
She returned to her seat, perfectly content now that she'd managed to get her cousin to consent to her doing his hair for the first day of school. She looked positively smug and proud, though turned sour when he mentioned Emilya. "I hope not. She may be talented, but she's terrible conversation. If I have to listen to her talk about her cat one more time..." She chuckled then, and shook her head. "I think Dan'll get one. He's too good at reading people not to be chosen." It was a little unnerving actually how well the German boy could read people. Accepting the cup of coffee he'd made for her, she smiled and proceeded to spoon five major helpings of sugar in. She liked her coffee unusually sweet. "Aww, you're so sweet, Elias. You know, most people that know me would say 'psycho pyromaniac', but I'll take smart and great any day." Maria was immensely flattered by the compliment. "But you know, Elias, so are you. And between all the trips you and Elsi go on, you've a lot more real world experience then the rest of us."

@maria 257 <3 Almost immediately after Elias was done speaking Maria had hopped up, touched his shoulders and kissed him on the cheek. He huffed and shook his head, "Oh, Maria." She was so outgoing and flamboyant, but Elias figured he should be used to that side of her by now. Maria was his only real friend at Durmstrang, and since they were cousins they spent most of all of their time together studying, hanging out, anything. He enjoyed her quite a bit. Her next comment about the girls at school made him laugh aloud. He doubted they were too uptight. Elias couldn't imagine any girl wanting to date a werewolf. They're probably afraid he'd eat them.
Maria began speaking about Emilya and Elias shook his head at her. "Oh stop it! She likes cats, I like dogs. I'm not that annoying, now am I?" Eli was too sweet for his own good. He never spoke bad about anyone, and he would try his hardest to get Maria to be just as nice even if it wouldn't work. It was a shot, right? "I'm sure Dan is going as well; he's too smart not to. And like you said, with the way he can understand how people are feeling, it gives him a better chance of winning if he gets chosen."
Elias was slightly nervous but he wasn't going to let that show. A chance was a chance and it wasn't something he was going to ignore. "Yeah, world experience but it's not like I've had experience with tasks and other people. Just places."

Maria smirked at the way he huffed and shook his head, only to say her name, as if in exasperation. "What? It's okay to be adorable, I won't judge! Your dignity and reputation are still in tact! Besides- I think your mother would agree with me, and Elsi is always right." Still looking smug as ever, she raised her cup of coffee and took a sip. IT was still extremely hot. From her reaction though, it was almost as if she didn't even notice. Actually, it wasn't as if. She hadn't. All things heat came easy to the young woman. A hot cup of coffee was nothing.
She shrugged as he mentioned him liking dogs and took another sip. "Yes, but dogs are fun. And useful. You can train them, and they are loyal. Cats bring you dead mice." She smirked at him. "You're only annoying when you're hungry." She teased. Elias was the nice one between them. Surprisingly, that was one of the reasons they got along. His sweet nature almost seemed to... calm her wild nature. He was one of the only people around that could get her to calm down when she was so angry she lost control and started setting things on fire. Not once, in their six years of knowing each other had she hurt him and she never would. He was one of the few people in her life that she actually cared about. Not even her Grandparents made that list.
Maria slowly set the cup down on the table and cocked her head to the side. "I think you're a lot stronger then you give yourself credit. If you're chosen the other champions won't know what hit them until it's too late." He might not want to admit it, but being a Werewolf gave him an edge few had. Maria believed that if her cousin ever got serious about something, he'd be a force to be reckoned with.

@maria 170 Mummy! I'll be putting a want ad up for her Elias smiled at Maria. Just at the moment she said Elsi was always right, Elsi herself walked down the stairs, beautiful as always. Her own long hair was up in a high ponytail and she was ready for the day, makeup and all. Elias got up, gave her a kiss on the cheek and said, "Dobro utro, mum. Would you mind making breakfast, or would you like me to get it?" Elsi shooed her son away and began making food, to which he grinned at her.
Sitting back down with Maria he sighed. "Yes dogs are fun, but cats can be cuddly too! Just be nice Maria." He shook his head with a laugh at his cousin.
She was giving him compliments and all Elias could really do was shrug. "I think all of the Durmstrang kids will have a fit if I get chosen, Maria. You know how everyone feels about me..." He whispered so Elsi wouldn't hear him. "And I don't want the Hogwarts children to know...I want to make some friends."

Maria grinned at her Aunt's appearance. "Elsi! You agree with me, right? That Elias is adorable." She didn't get up to greet her Aunt like Elias had, she was considering his actions as a greeting for both of them. As he returned to the table and commanded her to be nice, she raised an eyebrow. "You do know who you're talking to, right? I'm always nice." YEah, sure. Wehn she wasn't hurling fire at people that looked at her the wrong way.
Maria leaned forward against the table as her cousin lowered his voice to a whisper, mentioned something that they both knew quite well. IT was true that most people didn't like the whole 'Werewolf' thing, or the 'Greyback' name. Or his Romani heritage. Basically Elias had the odds stacked against him. "Let them have a fit." She whispered back, well, more like hissed. "You know I'll be there every step if you're chosen. I won't let them stop you." She meant it. She was viciously loyal, especially to her cousin. Literally willing to do anything for him. The friend comment almost made her frown. Because, she was also a little.... protective. The idea of him going off and making new friends almost made her feel jealous. She swallowed that emotion very quickly though, instead just nodding and choosing not to comment. She'd always be there for him, and she'd definitely be there this year. She wasn't going to let any of the Hogwarts of Beauxbaton students try and ruin her sweet cousin.

@maria <3 Elias laughed at Maria. He knew he was an attractive guy but it wasn't something he always based himself off of. That wasn't the type of guy he was; yeah looks were great but what mattered to him was someone's personality and humor. That's what he enjoyed the most, someone he could joke around with and have a real conversation. "Yeah Yeah Yeah I'm adorable I know. But hey, you are most definitely not always nice!"
Oh goodness, she was always so protective of him. Elias laughed at her, and his mother set down the food. He thanked her with a kiss on the cheek and began to eat. "Oh stop, Maria. I can take care of myself...I just ignore people." That was true. Elias didn't give anyone the time of day when they made fun of him. Not only that but Maria was usually right behind him ready to set them on fire. It amused him quite a bit, these two to weren't a pair to be reckoned with. "I just want people to like me before they know what I am...I want to know that I'm a good nice person that others want to be around, Maria. And I don't know that because everyone always runs."
Elias finished eating quickly, and even though he could eat more, he excused himself quickly to go shower. He came back downstairs in a pair of black shorts and a white tank top and sandals. His wet curls hung loose down to his shoulders, and Eli grabbed another cup of coffee and plate of food. He sat down and looked at Maria, and waved at his hair. "Go at it, girl."

Oh, Maria knew she had a very good looking cousin. It was hard to miss! But being the protective girl she was, she didn't like the idea of him dating, because she knew how heartbreaking that could be.... Though she wasn't much of one to talk. She happened to be one of the biggest heartbreakers in their year, for boys and girls. She was extremely open about her sexuality, and abusing it to the fullest. Her cousin though? Well, he was a bit shyer, though she knew that he was more like her in that regard. Either way, the point was, while she had no problems with using people and breaking their heart, she didn't want Elias to fall for someone like her. "Okay. I'm always nice to you. Better?" She corrected, grinning at him. She agreed. She was most definitely not always nice.
"Ignoring isn't taking care of." She pointed out as Elias' mother brought the breakfast to the table. Maria beamed up at her aunt. "You're a saint. She 'thanked' the woman, getting a warm smile in return. She had just begun to eat herself when he spoke again, saying that he wanted to know that he was a good person. She stopped eating immediately, and stared at her cousin, her eyebrows furrowed. "You don't have to prove yourself to them, Elias. If they're stupid enough to hate you for that, then they aren't worth having around." Both of them had faced that sort of discrimination all their lives. Elias for being Greyback's child, a werewolf, and a Romani (or Gypsy.). Maria for being half veela, Romani, and her mother's ability over fire. Nothing about the cousins was normal. It was one of the reasons why, when they'd discovered they were related, they'd meshed so well together. Most people wouldn't believe that they'd only known each other for six years from the way they acted.
While Elias took off to get ready for the day, Maria finished eating and was helping her aunt clean up some of the already dirtied dishes. She may not like domestic house work, but their grandparents had ingrained the skill into the girl. Heck, even cooking. To most people's surprise, she could, in fact, cook quite well. She just hated it. When Elias sat down and waved at his hair though, she immediately stopped what she was doing and grinned at him. "Have I told you how much I love you? Especially right now." She planted a kiss on top of his head, despite his hair being wet. Soon she was to work, running her fingers through his hair to work out the tangles...
