"I... I don't think I can stand next to you anymore,” Ronan laughed at that remark. “Come on I don’t smell that bad!” He said in a joking manner. It was an easy opportunity for him to make that joke. "I'm serious, though! He's going to come back!" He couldn’t stop from laughing this was too good. There was nothing like pranking the resident poltergeist. And every time that he had done that it was fun. “Don’t worry he won’t be coming back anytime soon. Those fireworks last quite a long time, and plus he will have to think up a way to get me back, and he probably won’t succeed.”
Glad that he had given a good example as to what fun was he smirked at Coriander as she removed her gloved hand that had been gripping his wrist tightly. Ronan didn’t or care at all and let the incident go without notice. He was also glad that he was able to make her laugh and smile. "I guess I could say that I like... fighting evil creatures that try to eat my friends? I haven't done it yet, but I think that would be... fun." Fighting evil creatures? He knew of a perfect place for that kind of thing. “Ah well we could always go to the forest and fight some of the creatures in there if you want?” Ronan asked in a thought but teasing tone. “Oh wait, I have a better idea we could always go visit the whomping willow. The trick is to not get caught by Neville,” Dang it, he screwed up. He had been told many times to call him Professor Longbottom. Yeah well that was hard to do since he had known Neville since he was a kid. He usually spent time at the Potter’s or Weasley’s and the Longbottom’s were usually there. Granted he didn’t get to go as much as he wanted to but when he did he had a lot of fun.
“I mean Professor Longbottom. Gave me and the others a good talking to the last time he caught us near that tree.” Should he tell her what the tree guarded? Why not there was no harm in it. “Did you know that the whomping willow is planted over a tunnel that leads up to the shrieking shack?” Ronan asked he had his fun and got a little serious since he knew the reason why the tree had been planted there. “But yes fighting evil creatures could be fun.” Ronan said in agreement as he smiled at Coriander, he had regained his composure quickly and was ready for more fun. He was enjoying this whole conversation on one of the moving staircases. It wasn’t a first but it was with a new friend. He just hoped that Coriander also considered him as a friend.

”Well, apart from the smell,” she smirked, ”you’re a genuinely bred Gryffindor psychopath.” She stated matter-of-factly. She chuckled as he explained that Peeves would take a while coming back, ”Oh thank goodness, that gives me plenty of time to run away.” She laughed. Truthfully though, she wasn’t going to stick around this guy long if he was going to be an obvious target for Peeves. However, meeting Ronan in a private place to talk another time wouldn’t be that bad. That sounded wrong, she thought, literally face-palming herself.
Cori raised an eyebrow at him, ”okay, you really are crazy. Visiting the forest or that terrible tree?” even as she called him crazy though, the insane idea started to stir in her. Wouldn’t it be interesting to actually try fighting something real for a change? Granted, they had done quite a bit in defense against the dark arts, but it was different in the real world. No safety net. At the mention of Prosessor Longbottoms first name Cori cocked an eyebrow. He quickly covered it up though and Cori decided not to press the issue. With her luck she probably had run unto someone else with famous parents, and she wasn’t in the mood for her Orphan chatter.
”Wait, are you saying that you’ve been under there, to the shrieking shack?” she couldn’t imagine anyone getting past that tree, but Ronan must have found a way. Suddenly, the stairs jolted, back in motion. She lurched towards Ronan and caught herself by nearly plowing him over.

“Oh so now I am a psychopath.” He paused with a hurt look on his face. “I take that as a compliment. And run all you want for you were with me when Peeves was here so you are just as much a target as I am. Granted I think he wants my head, but that is another matter completely.” Ronan said with a smirk. It was true that damn poltergeist was out for his head just because Ronan was able to outsmart and outwit him. Ronan enjoyed that as it was just way to much fun.
”okay, you really are crazy. Visiting the forest or that terrible tree?... Wait, are you saying that you’ve been under there, to the shrieking shack?” He laughed of course he was crazy or he wouldn’t have jumped off the staircase earlier. “Ah I enjoy all of these compliments you keep giving me.” Ronan said in a teasing manner. “Yes the only entrance to the Shrieking Shack is under the whomping willow. I can show you how to get past the tree sometime if you want.” He could but he had a feeling that the passageway was now blocked or something by wards of every kind in light of recent events.
When the stairs jolted he laughed as Coriander came lurching forward he caught her as she hit him catching herself in the process. “Careful we don’t need you getting hurt.” Ronan said with a smile as he pulled her into an upright standing position since they had fallen to the ground. It was quite funny. As he helped Coriander up one of his fingers brushed up against a small amount of exposed skin and he felt the cold that was there which was odd. He let it slide since it appeared that Coriander hadn’t felt the contact. Many things started running though is mind as he thought about what could make someone’s skin that cold since it wasn’t even cold out nor was it cold inside either.

Cori laughed as Ronan said that he took it as a compliment, "you should. If you didn't I would fear that you weren't well." She dropped her jaw as he talked about Peeves wanting his head. She couldn't imagine being in a pranking battle, let alone with that poltergeist. There was nothing funny about being the victim of peeves. Well, unless the victim is a total jerk. But Ronan didn't seem to be that at all.
Cori raised her eyebrows as he talked about showing her the passage under the tree. She couldn't deny that the idea was intriguing, but terrifying. She took a moment to think before answering, "Sounds unnerving... but we could try. I need to be unnerved." She spoke truthfully as she rubbed her arms and looked off to the side. She hadn't been unnerved by anyone else or any thing, she always managed to just do it to herself. She needed to take a few risks and who better to show her than a lion.
Ronan caught her and Cori felt her cheeks turning red. They were in very close proximity indeed. She barely even noticed that they were actually on the ground until she snapped out of the proximity thoughts, "oh bother..." she muttered as he assisted her in standing up. She thought she felt his skin touch hers for a moment, but maybe she was imagining it. He would've had a much bigger reaction if he had, right? She straightened out her jacket a little and reached forward to fix his collar as well.
"I'm really sorry about that I-" WHAT am I doing? she thought as she yanked her hands away from the collar of his shirt. There were still no more than a foot apart, seeing as they had just stood up. She swallowed, eyes wide, "the stairs tripped me."

His mind was still trying to figure out what could make a person’s skin that cold. Well it didn’t really bother him as much since when he had touched that part of exposed skin it only felt a little cold, but he had a feeling that it was much colder to other people. "I'm really sorry about that I-…the stairs tripped me." When Coriander apologized about falling into him and then about fixing the collar of his shirt, Ronan noticed the tinge of red that had crept into Coriander’s cheeks he smirked just a little on the inside not wanting her to feel uncomfortable. It was kind of funny that he never had to try to get a girl to blush or even like him. Ronan was the complete opposite of James who had to always try to impress people and do things just to get girls to like him. Ronan had found that it was simple all you had to do was be yourself and that if people accepted you great and if not oh well.
He had also noticed that her eyes were wide as she apparently noticed how close they were, something he had noticed as well but made no mention of it. “Don’t be sorry, since it was not your fault but the stairs as you said that tripped you.” He said kind of pushing her apology aside. Ronan had accepted the apology but he knew that it wasn’t Coriander’s fault for what had happened.
Ronan was sure now that the castle was trying to play matchmaker as Coriander had called it. But that didn’t matter to him for he had more akaward experiences meeting people for the first time. "Sounds unnerving... but we could try. I need to be unnerved." He thought about that sentence and felt that there was more to it than what she had said. “Well any time you want to go exploring the castle or the grounds just let me know.” Ronan said hoping to break the akward situation and not that he minded being close to her but wanting her to feel comfortable he took a half step back before his back hit the railing. Waiting to see how she reacted for he had reluctantly took that step back because he enjoyed being in Coriander’s presence and even though her skin was cold he wasn’t bothered or affected by it that much.

Cori was grateful that Ronan wasn't taking advantage of the situation and that he had made it clear that the tripping wasn't her fault. She didn't want him to think of her as some bumbling brunette who ran into boys on purpose. That was quite the opposite of what she actually. She felt herself breathe again when he took a small step back, but he ran into the railing and seemed almost... disappointed? She took the opportunity to take a step back as well. Making the distance between them increase. "That's a generous offer..." she finally managed to say, after he offered to take her exploring. She hadn't really gone exploring with anyone before.
This guy seemed different than others. He wasn't flirting with her but he wasn't brushing her off either. It was something in between. Something like friendship. Though, she couldn't deny that he seemed reluctant to take that step back, but that was typical. It was normal to want to be close to another person. Cori didn't not want to be close to people. She just couldn't be close to them. At least, she had never tried. Ronan seemed like the kind of person who gave you a hug every time he saw you if you were his friend. He just seemed all around... warm. A concept Cori was not familiar with.
As the stairs went back into place Cori felt her heart slow down a little, back to normal, not worried about being trapped on these stairs. "So, where are you headed?" she asked him. Not moving.

Ronan gave Coriander a small and kind smile as she told him that his offer was generous. He also noticed how she had let out a breath of air when he took a step back, and he assumed that she had been holding it in. In the short amount of time that he had been on the staircase with Coriander he had figured out quite a bit about her, just by her body movements and her reactions to certain things. Ronan could tell that Coriander wasn’t used to being accepted by people, and he had learned that when he had first met her, and then he could tell that she was not used to being near people. It must be a foreign concept or feeling for her.
The stairs finally decided to start moving again and they even went back to where they were supposed to be. "So, where are you headed?" That was a good question. Where was he headed? Ronan thought for a moment and looked around and even over the railing debating if he wanted to go back up, get off on this floor, go down, or out to the grounds. “I am not really sure as to where I am heading, but I guess which ever direction you are going. That is if you don’t mind me tagging along? So where are we headed Coriander?” Ronan asked the girl in front of him. He had a feeling that Coriander needed to be distracted from something and who better to distract her than himself.

Cori felt herself smile at Ronans offer to accompany her wherever she was headed. She shrugged as she turned on her heel and headed down the stairs, ready to meet the next point when it aligned. "Well, actually I don't think I was heading in any specific direction." She thought back to before they had their run in with the broken stairs and tried to remember what she had been doing. She was sure she was just studying her book that Professor Longbottom gave her, she realized the book was no longer in her arms and looked back to see it back on the step where she had tripped into Ronan, She must have dropped it. She sighed and walked back to it, picking it up and looking into Ronans eyes as she stood straight.
"I guess now is as good a time as any to do that unnerving stuff we were discussing." She cocked an eyebrow at him, curious as to how he'd react to this proposition. Ronan was outgoing, that must was for certain, and he seemed to have no problem making new friends. Something Cori was not very good at. Maybe he could be the door into making a few friends of her own around her, besides the one she already had. Now two.

"Well, actually I don't think I was heading in any specific direction." Ronan knew that feeling all too well, wandering around aimlessly was generally something that he enjoyed doing, and he loved when he could get people to join him, for it made it all that much more exciting. He watched as Coriander picked up her book that had fallen to the floor earlier when they had fallen as well. "I guess now is as good a time as any to do that unnerving stuff we were discussing." A large and mischevious smirk appeared on his face upon hearing the words unnerving stuff.
“Sure thing, now the question is where would you like to go? Since there are so many options. I know for a fact that we can’t go into the Forbidden Forest any more(idea number one), there is also the Sheriking shack, which was something that one had to be on the lookout for anything and everything, especially since the death of Minister Shacklebolt.” Ronan said listing off a couple of options for them to do, then there was always going out and messing with the giant squid or even explore the underground chambers of the castle. There were many things down in the underground caverns and chambers of the school some you had to have passwords to, and others required some type of spell to open them, and then there were those that were empty. Ronan had found his way down there a while back but not many people knew about the places below the school, not even the current headmaster, not that Ronan considered the man to be headmaster, no that was a job that he felt belonged to his ex-head of house Professor Longbottom. But now he wondered just where coriander wanted to go.
