His dark black robes with the silver lining in them swished along the corridors of the Ministry top level for the Ministerfor Magic and his administrative staff, including the office ofMyron Dwight Winterfield, people called D.W. most of the time, or simply, Dwight. Myron was the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister and was just until last month Chief Warlock of the Wizengamont, now he was just an elder on the high court but he still carried influence these halls of the Ministry, people knew his name, most liked him, or envied him for the connection he made with Kingsley. He entered his office, a rather large one with a bigseating area, and a huge wrap around desk, and oh he had a assistant desk right outside the door, a pretty one for that. ”Are we ready? I need to get to Gringotts to make a withdrawl and deposit” said Myron as he talked to two men dressed in solid black robes, members of the Advanced Guard, senioraurors trained to guard the Minister and his staff, including Myron since he was second in command. In a tiny pop him and his two bodyguards were standing outside the bank of Gringotts, it was a busy afternoon in Diagon alley he pushed by people shaking hands with those who wanted to, and ignoring those who yelled insults at him. They have no idea….what he’s doing…I wish I could warn them thought Myron as he started moving to the bank finally entering it and taking a look around at all the goblins.
The sound of his shoes and his bodyguards filled the quiet grandmarable entrance to the sprawling bank with underground vaults.Reaching the counter near the end of the entrance room, he looked up at the goblin who gave him a silent and creepy looking nod. ”My vault please 613, I wish Gridhorn to guide meto the vault. No excuses” said Myron and the goblin nodded back at him, but showed his displeasure on having to deal with Myron in the first place. He and the goblins had a very long and complicated relationship, going back to his early days in the Ministry. Waiting for Gridhorn he looked around the bank as the goblin told them Gridhorn was busy with another client, nodding he gave a frustrated sigh but, nodded as that he would wait. Fools, they don’t understand he does not want to wait! thought Myron as he started pacing around the bank unaware of anyone he knew watching him. 425 WORDS TAGGED Meet Burt Jr, in the making THANK YOU MALIA TATE FROM ADOXOGRAPHY

Jonathan walked out of the quill shop, looked at his list and shook his head. 'So now I just need a new cauldron and some more supplies for the new batch of truth serum. Great, means I gotta go get more money!' he thought as the wizard folded up the list and slide it in his jacket pocket. As Jon made his way to the bank, he stopped and looked at a wizard who he thought he helped with a case on before catching himself and he started again to his way to the bank. Once he reached the door's, he reached into his pocket to check it was there. After he realized the key was in his pocket, he pushed the door open and walked inside to see busy wizards and a lot of goblins, so many it fact it was weird to see that many at this time of the day. 'Maybe something is going on' he thought but he shrugged it off and started making his way to one of the goblins before seeing someone he had worked with. He slowly made his approach but saw the man's guards.
"Hey Dwight, got a question for ya." he said as he stopped before he got to close to the guards. 'Oh please, give me some connections to get some more of the serums that I ain't got time to make!' he thought as he looked at one of the guards.

His black eyes peered around the bank as he looked at the people coming in and out, completely unaware of a pending doom that was coming. No a different doom then the killings going on, someone was planning a huge power move, one that went beyond the Ministry. He’s cursed you…Dwight…you speak on it, you’re going to die the thought played across his head once again of the night Burt broke into his office and tortured him before blackmailing him and then eventually cursing him all together. The guy was truly insane and now, Dwight couldn’t do anything but support the man. His eyes looked over at his body guards who had moved in front of him suddenly, meaning someone had probably walked towards his direction just enough to catch their attention. After all they were members of the advanced guard, trained to be able to protect at all costs. He moved aside and looked over to see someone call his name about having a question, and he saw who it was. His name was Jonathan Grudge, a very young lawyer for the International Magical Office of Law. He had heard from the supervisors he was talented and showed a bright future something, Dwight liked. ”Let him pass guys, really not like it’s Voldemort” said Dwight his voice, a nonchalantly dry tone.
Besides, old man Burt wiped the floor with like a piñata thought Dwight as he looked at one of his body guards, as both of them moved aside for the young lawyer to approach Dwight. Of course, the two would watch him closely; it was their job in case something happened. He nodded at Jonathan for him to come forward to ask the question. He was wondering on what the young lawyer wanted to ask Dwight. ”Mr. Grudge, what can I help you with today”? asked Dwight, he hoped the young lawyer did not grill him about the recent article on him in the Spotlight weekly.

Jonathan approached as the guards gave him a little room. "Well, all of our stock of serums are empty and we have been told that we aren't getting any more for the next few months. I was wandering if you could help us out somehow and see if there is a some wiggle room, sir." the young wizard replied. 'Please, please, please!' he thought 'I am the only one who will make them if we can't get them and we need to much to make in a day!'
The young wizard had no clue if this was a bad idea or good but he didn't really care, all he knew was he needed serums and he was going to the one person who could get some. Goblins started talking in the back ground but about what, that was anyone clue, Jonathan hated the goblins but when they are the only things that watch the money, he had to get used to them. " If you can't get the serums, then would it be possible to get anything to help us out? Our department is running dry on everything and our Head won't supply us with anything."

His eyes swept across the bank once more and the back to the young lawyer that was standing in front of him now. Since he had first met Jonathan when he graduated Hogwarts he had kept an ear on how to hear the kid did in court, and in the office. He had kind of taken the man under his wing sort of he knew the kid wanted to become the Head of the International Magical Office of Law. Something Myron could make happen easily if he wanted to later on, and maybe in the future take the kid further up the ladder with him, if he could learn the ropes however. I don’t hand out favors to those who can’t keep up thought Dwight as he nodded to what the man started to tell him. He stood there for a second and thought about the truth serum the man was looking for, the Ministry outlawed it from using in court trials and other instances of the Ministry.
However; that didn’t mean the Ministry did use it in some cases, and did also carry it. ”Well that is a problem; such a serum does take some time to make so our suppliers may be behind. I’m afraid you may have to wait” said Dwight he gave a slight nod to him and turned around to see a goblin approaching him now, and he threw his hands up. ”Gridhorn, you took a while! A short trip to my vault please!” said Dwight he said and as soon a she did he gave a nod as “good-bye” to Jonathan and he started to walk away his guards falling in behind him.
He went no more than maybe at least five steps towards the entrance to the carts to visit the vaults, before he stopped and turned on his heel at once. Facing the other way and waving his way his guards moved out of the way and he started walking back to Jonathan, and called out his name for him to wait for him. ”Jonathan, come with me to my vault, please” called out Dwight to him, his voice was quick and blunt, it was more of almost an simple order then an invitation. He waited to hear an answer from Jonathan; he might have something the vault that he may want.

Where there's a will, theres a lawyer
Jonathan nodded his head once he heard it may take a while. 'Well, that sucks, I was hoping he could help me out. We all know we need it.' he thought as he watched Myron walk away. Only to see him stop and call his name. "Yes sir, on the way." he called back as he started to walk with a hastly step. The wizard knew that Myron was not the type of person to keep waiting let alone not talk back to him once he started talking to you.
As Jonathan approached Myron, he looked at his guards and then looked at a goblin that was walking by them. "Hey goblin, secure this bag until I get back. " He gave a stern look to the goblin as it stopped and nodded. Jonathan gave the goblin the bag full of parchment and quills. "If any of these quills are broken, there will be reprecutions!" he said as he watched the goblin walk off with the bag. "Alright sir, I am ready when you are." Jonathan slowly climbed into the cart behind the guards.

He waited in the cart as he watched Jonathan give his bag to a goblin of some quills and inks and told him not to break them, he gave a little smirk. One should never trust a goblin thought Dwight suspecting the goblin may not break anything but, may in fact steal from the bag later on. He nodded to Jonathan as he climbed into the cart; his vault was a little ways down and in the area of maximum security vaults as well. ”Let us go Gridhorn, people to see and people to fire” said Dwight with a small chuckle to his rather dry and blunt tone. The cart took off at once and ventured down beneath into the caves of different vaults and tunnels leading different ways. It was at least a few minutes before the cart came to a screeching stop in front of a very large vault by itself, the goblin getting out first stepped forward telling them to stand back as he took of special protections. Dwight barely exited the cart before Gridhorn the goblin was instructing him to take off the last enchantment. Normally no wizard at all would be allowed to place an extra protection spell or charm over their fault, the goblins did not appreciate that at all, and however Dwight had pull on matters like this.
He removed his wand and slowly walked up to the door, he tapped it five times with his wand before slashing it in an X motion on the door. A glowing green X appeared on the door and then slowly disappeared, and finally there was a loud crack heard inside the vault. Pocketing his wand and looking satisfied with himself he stepped back a little ways and made an after you motion to the goblin as the vault doors started to open. A rather wealthy person for himself, his vault was filled with gold set off to one area, with many different artifacts and treasures and jewels belonging to his family and what not. He nodded to Jonathan for him to enter the vault as well, a guard stood outside while one came in with Dwight as he went over to a desk at the back of his vault, and unlocked a drawer of it. He pulled some papers out along with something wrapped up and handed to his guard who put in his cloak. ”Don’t lose that, or else” muttered Dwight as he turned and looked over to the far right of the his circular vault, where a few chests were.
A rather small green chest sat on top of several ones was the one he unlocked and opened, and as he did he pulled out three different level shelves filled with small potion vials filled with a clear liquid. There were at least twenty vials or so of the powerful truth serum, one of his special stashes that he kept, Dwight had learned it was always good to keep some potions on hands and in not all in one stash place. He pushed the three levels of shelves down back into the chest and locked it once again, it was clear the chest had been charmed to hold more then it looked like it could. He handed the chest over to Jonathan with a little smile. ”You didn’t get them from me, twenty vials of the serum is in here”said Dwight as he waited to hear what the young man’s response would be.

Where there's a will, theres a lawyer
The young wizard watched as Myron lifted the last part of the enchantment. As everyone but the one guard walked inside the vault, Jonathan was taken over by the amount of aritfacts and all the gold. "Oh man, this is the most, I have ever seen! This is like." Jonathan became speechless. As Myron opened the chest, his mouth dropped. "Holy bludger, this is enough to last us months! Thank you, thank you thank you! Is there anything I can do to repay the favor?" he asked as he took the chest from Myron."Yes sir, I found this behind some empty boxes.
Not knowing what Myron would ask from Jonathan. He became prepared to do whatever his mentor asked of him, within reason of course. As Jonathan held the chest, he quickly became fasinated with everything in the vault. "This is my dream, I want it all!" He laughed as he began to wander what his parent's would have done if they had saw this before they died. If they had this amount of stuff in their vault, his life would have been easier, so much easier. Soon his eyes went back to Myron," Sir, do you care if we stop at my fault before heading back? I need to pick some stuff from my vault." he asked as he waited for the answer.

Dwight was already sure the reaction from the young lawyer would be just full of wonder considering the huge favor he had just done for the man. He was not disappointed either by the man’s enthusiasm either, in fact he was quite surprised by the how the man was so grateful. How can you repay me…Oh I know a few ways thought Dwight on the inside he was giving a little smirk. He might be unable to do any big power moves anymore currently liked he wanted to but, he could still do small ones. Burt can’t win…he is blinded by power that he wishes to control…he will never stop for all the power ever thought Dwight, thinking back to the night Burt had broken into his office or at least as much as he could remember. The old man proved to be rather talented in memory charms that night and his ability of a Legilimens became quite clear to Dwight as well. The man opened my brain like a book and destroyed everything I held dear… thought Dwight as he walked away from Jonathan and over to an small little black orb on a desk. He picked it up and put in his cloak pocket, not thinking twice about it.
Turning around he nodded at his body guard and the goblin Gridhorn to wait outside, both walked outside and the vault door came to a close behind them leaving Dwight and Jonathan alone in the vault. His eyes stared right at the younger man, at least by almost four decades. ”Mr. Grudge you understand who I am, what I can do, the power and influence I carry. I believe you have ambitions sir, and so do I. Ambition is good it drives us to our goals. I have goals and you have goals, I can help with those goals, in ways others could never”said Dwight his voice was casual but, also void of emotion it was a more business tone with the lawyer. ”Your absolute loyalty Jonathan for those loyal to me will forever stand in the light of greatness, and will accomplish what they are destined to accomplish”said Dwight, his voice still it’s casual business tone. He stood where he was looking at Jonathan wondering what the young lawyer would say, it was no secret Dwight wanted to be Minister. He had the experience, Kinglsey put in him in this position for a reason he was sure, and it wasn’t to be second fiddle to an incompetent Minister like the current one. Answer wisely here son…or your future will be over soon thought Dwight, through he had plans to end the man’s career but he would make it known: Better to be my ally, than an enemy. He ignored the man’s question about visiting his vault, he wanted an answer first from Jonathan if he had what he wanted, then he would go to the man’s vault.

Where there's a will, theres a lawyer
The lawyer watched as the guards and the goblin walked out of the vault. 'Great, now I'm in troubke, had to be a trick. I knew it, but there has to be a way to stay on his good side.' Jonathan thought as the man started talking. Trust was all that Jonathan had for the man he looked up to, he had no clue if he had done something wrong in the office and the word got brought to Myron. Either way, the young wizard looked up to his mentor like a father figure. Whenever he was in trouble or had something on his mind, the only one he was able to talk to was Myron.
As Myron finished talking, Jonathan nodded. "Yes sir, I understand, my loyalty to you is big. I will always be on your side, no matter what the situation is. Ambitions are only met sir, with people helping or with great power. Sir, I will tell you what, if you want, you can ask me anything and I will answer truthfully." he said as he laid the chest full of truth potions on the floor and opened it up. "One swig, and you will hear everything. You are like my mentor, always giving me knowledge and showing me how things are suppose to be. For that I am greatful and will one day, somehow repay you for everything. I don't know how or when, but it will happen sir." A stern look came over Jonathan, the same face he gave when he was in court trying to show he knew what was going on but had no control of the room.
Jonathan stood up from his kneeling position and noticed the orb go into Myron's pocket but gave no attention to it. Knowing that if it was suppose to be known, it would have been told. He knew secrets were what kept everything in order and correct. "Loyalty sir, I know is my only way to greatness. I am not saying I am using you for a position. You have taught me more then I would have ever learned under one of the people in my office. You have more knowledge about everything then ninety nine percent of the ministry. One day, I hope to be as knowledgeable as you, and hopefully you can teach me." he said as he waited for the word on rather or not to drink the potion or not.

The answer was satisfying to Dwight because the man before he promised him, what he exactly wanted and needed more than ever, loyalty. The power struggle that had started with the new Minister for Magic and Dwight just months ago, had changed suddenly. Me having to go out and publically say I support Reynolds as Headmaster…cost me everything thought Dwight as he continued to stare at the man before him. Despite his thoughts whirling forward on other plans and steps he would need to make without, tipping off the old man in any such way, he still was listening everything Jonathan was saying to him. His eyes quickly glanced over to the vial of the truth serum Jonathan was now holding in his hand and then back to the man. Despite not showing his true emotions at all, he was in fact rather surprised that the man was willing to take such a powerful step to prove loyalty to him. The truth serum would have the man start confessing truth to questions Dwight would ask, and being the former Chief Warlock of the Wizengamont he was known to be an effective interrogator.
He either must be very loyal or rather stupid…let us hope it is not the latter thought Dwight and gave a little smirk to Jonathan finally showing some emotion. ”Jonathan, I am rather surprised you would take such step to prove loyalty to me…it will not be necessary…there will be other opportunities for you to prove that” said Dwight giving him a little nod and then went on to let him finish what he was saying. Knew the man couldn’t be that dumb thought Dwight when the man mentioned that he knew loyalty was the only way to his greatness. He was rather smart in fact to admit it and believe it if he truly did, which Dwight believed he did believe what he just said. The man could never go anywhere without having loyalty to someone who had influence throughout the Ministry, and Dwight was in fact that person not the old man Burt Reynolds. ”Jonathan, tell me where do you want to go? In the Ministry how far do you want to climb the ladder” asked Dwight looking right at the man.
He then nodded to him and motioned him to the door and walk towards it to exit the vault. The rest of the conversation could be in front of others, considering his guards and Gridhorn would never tell anything he said to anyone. ”Gridhorn, we need to visit Jonathan Grudge’s vault next please….which what is your vault number” asked Dwight as he stepped outside and directed his voice to the goblin before turning back to face Jonathan waiting for his vault number.

Where there's a will, theres a lawyer
Jonathan slid the serum back in it's chest and nodded as his mentor spoke. " I understand Myron, the only thing I do not like is having a chance and not taking it." Slowly, the young wizard locked the chest, stood up and placed the chest under his arm. As he turned around to face the door, he stopped to answer the question given with a smile. "Well, I want to be as far as someone with my skills can be, I have no clue how far I can go, but if I can get to the first advisor to the Minister, I would be happier then a goblin near gold."
Quickly, Jonathan glanced over to the goblin who had been helping them." No offense, it's just a saying." Jonathan started to make his way to the cart but before climbing in the cart, he replied. "Vault 1931 please!" he then climbed into the back of the cart and slid the chest in between his feet. 'Oh please don't walk into my vault with me.' the wizard thought as he could only imagine the face of Myron when he saw how weird his vault looked. It was enough to satisfy him but other people who saw it though he was weird.

As he heard the words that came out of the mouth of Jonathan, he nodded at him and a smile appeared on his face. He was happy to hear that the young man before him was one who wanted to take a chance and did not like wasting one. That could prove very useful to Dwight as he could give the man many chances and if he took them not only could be helped but, so could Dwight. Burt thinks he is the only master planner in this power struggle, how wrong he is thought Dwight as he walked towards the doors of the vault to exit but stopped short as turned around to Jonathan as he spoke. So the man wanted to be the top adviser to the Minister for Magic, he had not listed being Head of his department one day which Dwight thought he would have mentioned. The adviser position could possibly be easier to come by for him, if a new Minister was elected or appointed.
”You may reach that position one day but, unfortunately maybe not with this current Minister however; he may not be Minister for much longer with the current crisis emerging”spoke Dwight and when he meant crisis it was more than the killings at Hogwarts and a few Aurors. It was also to do with the current power struggle that was developing for the position of power, which one was willing to go far as to kill, blackmail, extort, and manipulate everyone to get what he wanted. That man was Headmaster Burt Reynolds and Dwight knew he needed be careful on what he exactly said, Reynolds made clear he was watching his every move. If he dared cross the line to much his daughter, he recently just found the identity about, would die and the information of who he killed fifteen years ago would be spilled. Now I’m here publically praising him and hosting meetings for him to praise him…no I will fight back! thought Dwight as he his thoughts snapped out of the power struggle and back to Jonathan as he spoke. He merely nodded at the man asking him not to enter his vault with him, and as soon as he climbed in the cart was off and before coming to a halting stop at Vault 1931.
