67… 68… 69… 70… 71… 72…
Selliah sighed as she absent mindedly stared up at the ceiling for the umpteenth time counting the small decorative tiles on the roof of the entire floor including her office.
73… 74… 75…
She was bored to absolute tears. Was it that obvious? Because if you haven’t figured it out already--she was. She hadn’t been doing much the last several weeks and it showed. What little bit of paperwork that she did have to do was already done, signed off of, edited – and now it was in an eat stack at the corner of her surprisingly clean desk (when you had nothing else to do and were on this side of cabin fever then you tended to do things you always needed to do but never got to because you were that busy beforehand) awaiting its next step—the next destination as it would.
76… 77… oh you had to be kidding!
Selliah growled in annoyance as she leaned forward onto her desk with her face in her hands and a sigh. This was not her job darn it! She was not getting paid to stare at the ceiling! She was getting paid to protect people. To fight against the dark forces. And yet where was she? In her office. Doing nothing. She hated it. She hated sitting here doing nothing when she should have been doing something. It was half of why she became an auror to start with. The action, the activity and of course kicking ass and taking names was nice too. Not to mention making the wizarding world in general safer and proving to everyone that blood status meant zero in terms of what you could and couldn’t do. It was just—madness. Total madness.
People were DYING. DYING HERE! And yet the minister was acting as if nothing was going on. That foolish fool of a minister fool! He was totally being a fool! Not that she was going to say so to his face…cause she wanted to keep her job thank you. But it irked her. It irked her very much so. That she wasn’t allowed to be stationed somewhere because of his foolish actions. She was stuck in her office and she despised every second of it!
She looked back up at the familiar tiles on the ceiling and sighed shaking her head as she was sick of looking at those things now. She looked over at the acoustic guitar in the corner of her office (she always had that thing around—she never knew why really a it sat there collecting dust to be honest as she was usually busy with just about half a million other things to do) and a smirk came to her face as she walked over and picked the muggle instrument up. It was always something she loved—even before she found out about Hogwarts. It was something her dad taught her to play—she smiled softly as she remembered the weekends with him learning the chords and how to play. She sighed softly as her face fell…she missed him. She truly did. There wasn’t a day that went by that she didn’t see something that reminded her of him. She wished he was here—he would know what to do, what to tell her – about the things going on. He always seemed to have just the right word of advice for her. But he wasn’t—and it hurt. It still hurt…even after almost nine years….
Sitting back in her chair with the guitar in hand—she began to play—the random melody floating through the air as she played—she didn’t have anything better to do at the moment of course…

The past few months had been very long and brutal, because of the restrictions that the new minister of magic had put on his department. Harry was pissed about this whole situation not being able to get out of the office to find whoever is causing the current mayhem and terror. He was losing aurors and most of them he considered them friends. He had started the Order of Phoenix once more, bringing in all of the old faces, friends and family. It was difficult to ask his friends and family to fight once more as members of the Order but it was necessary and they were all willing to do it again.
He was currently walking around the auror department passing the offices of his coworkers. Some were empty and he knew why, in the past few months about eighty aurors had been killed. It made Harry sad that so many had died and the ministry was ignoring the whole situation. However he did greet several of those that were currently in their offices. As he walked, Harry could hear the soft sound of a guitar being played, and it was coming from an office not too far ahead of where he was at. Harry walked to the office from where the music was coming from and he knew exactly who it was. It was Selliah one of his best aurors just like John and Rob. He had an idea as he walked into her office and leaned up against the doorframe. Harry noticed that Selliah was playing a guitar that looked like it hadn’t been used in a long time.
“Selliah I have a couple of questions that I need to ask you.” Harry stated as he watched the witch playing her guitar. He had the intention of asking her to join the Order. He knew that he could count on her and that she would most likely jump at the chance to get out of this place and do something useful. He was going to have her go to Hogwarts along with few others. Without waiting for Selliah to even acknowledge that he was there Harry closed the door and warded it and the rest of the room so they wouldn’t be overheard. This was going to be a similar conversation that he had the other day with John and Rob in their office. He turned his attention to Selliah as he sat down in a chair that he had just conjured, and waited for a response.

She was bored. Oh so bored. Was it that obvious? Probably. Did she care much? Ehhh...
She didn't know what better to do though. Of course a part of her wondered if she could go home and be all bored there--but nah. There was a part of her still hoping for something that she could help with. She wanted to be doing her job. And protecting people. Of course she didn't want anyone to have to go through such times in which they needed to be protected...it wasn't something she would wish on anyone. But that was an unrealistic thought and she knew it. There would forever be a need for the aurors as long as people were studying the dark arts and practicing dark magic. What a depressing thought really if she was to be honest. Wouldn't she love it if she had no job because there was no need for said job? That wasn't happening though. Not in her lifetime anyways.
She heard footsteps and her eyes looked up to see if the person needed her or if they were just walking past her doorway. She saw her boss and her thoughts and her guitar playing came to a screeching halt. He was here. Something was going down. She couldn't help but tense up slightly as she wondered what was going on now? It wasn't bad enough that people was dying -- but the fact the minister was doing nothing about it was even worse. She wondered if that silly man was sticking his nose even further into their business. And if he was going to put even more restrictions on them. The thought alone was enough to make Selliah want to roll her eyes.
Harry of course alluded to none of this. He just said that he wanted to ask her a few questions. ”Of course.” she said as she got up and walked to the corner of her office where her guitar had once been and put the instrument back on its stand. He had shut the door behind him and warded it to where they could not be overheard. This must have been real important then. Just what was going on here now? Well there was only one way to find that out. And that was to listen to what her boss had to say. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t concerned about the way this could go….but let’s be honest, anything was better than sitting here doing nothing. ”What’s going on?” she asked and now to wait for the response…

”Of course…What’s going on?” Straight and to the point, was one of the things that Harry liked about Selliah, granted she was also a prankster at heart like her two cohorts John and Rob, but when it came down to it she was serious just like the other two. These young aurors were some of the best that he had, especially now that there just so happened to be less of the older aurors to help teach, guide, protect and fight, with the new recruits and younger aurors. “Well as you are aware our Minister of Magic has been putting restrictions on us, and I am quite sure that you are pissed about this, just like everyone else here.” Harry began. “First off what is said here is between us. I have gotten permission from the Minister to go ahead and station a few aurors at Hogwarts. Now I have already asked John and Rob to go to Hogwarts, and I am glad that I did because having those two cooped up is a bad idea, as I am sure you know about this all too well.” Harry smirked as he talked about this. “I would like for you to go as well, and there is no way you can get out of this.”
Harry was not done yet but he decided to give Selliah a chance to process what he had just said, and practically ordered her to do. “Now the next thing that I have to talk to you about is something that is a secret. Have you ever heard of a secret organization that fought against Voldemort in the first and second Wizarding wars, called the Order of the Phoenix?” He asked the young auror before him.
“Well the Order of the Phoenix has been started up once more, granted it never truly disbanded, we have just been dormant, until now when we are needed the most since our Ministry is incapable of doing things. I am the leader or head of the Order. And I am now extending to you Selliah an invitation to join the Order.” He paused to gauge the reaction of Selliah. “So Selliah will you agree to protect those that are innocent, both wizards, witches and muggles, and to fight against all dark wizards, and those that threaten to destroy our way of life instead of helping it to progress? Should you accept you will be bound on your magic to do so.” Harry knew that the young woman would agree just like John and Rob had, but he also knew that she might have more questions than those two did.

At the mention of the minister and his foolish actions and restrictions against the department--Selliah's jaw clenched and her eyes narrowed. She said nothing but it was clear by the fiery expression on her face that she felt exactly the same as Harry did. Pissed off was a right assessment. She was incredibly angry at the minister's way of dealing with things, People were dying. They were getting killed. They could stop them. Catch them and put them in Azkaban for the rest of their lives. And to think that someone was stopping them from doing their job just to save face--it was disgusting her to be frank. But it seemed as if perhaps things were looking up. First off he said it was to stay between the two of them. No big surprise there. A lot of auror business wasn't the type of thing you wanted to broadcast to the world. So that was no worry.
He made her day though when he said he had managed to convince the minister to station some aurors at Hogwarts and that she, Rob and John were going to be working there to keep the students safe. Hallelujah! That was the first thought that crossed her mind. The next thoughts were not just thoughts as she spoke--her voice belying the relief and darn near gratefulness she felt at this news,
"Thank god! A job! An actual job! And not just me sitting here doing mindless work! You know me as well as anyone--I hate sitting here doing that type of work. I was bored outta my teeth here. Count me in!" she would much rather be doing her job and protecting students (the next generation) then some mindless work any day and he knew that. There was no way out of it he had told her and that was perfectly fine with her. She was looking forward to working with those two pranksters actually. They were all good friends.
He said there was another secret and her ears pricked slightly. Huh? What did he mean? He asked if she had heard about the Order of the Phoenix and she nodded, "I have. Don't know a lot about it--but I've always gotten the feeling that you weren't supposed to know everything about it either so I never questioned it." which was unusual for her since she questioned everything but she just always got the idea that she wasn't supposed to here and even she had to admit that she didn't have to figure out everything. Hmmm she wondered why he asked.
He soon answered when he told her that the group was no longer dormant due to recent events, that he was the head of the order and then he offered HER a position within the group. Yeah she was surprised. She wasn't even going to lie. And that was probably evident on her face. That--okay that she didn't see coming. But when he asked if she was in, she nodded without hesitation, "I'm in. My dad was killed by a dark witch or wizard. They never found out who it was or caught them. If there's any way I can help another family avoid that kind of tragedy--I will. So what do I need to do? To get ready and all that?"
