Isis bit her lip and shook her head as he referenced to himself. After a minute... or two, of taking in his facial expressions she nodded once firmly. "That's true. He isn't and he isn't the one whose going to be my date to the Hogs Head Party," she winked at him and smiled, "what do you say, Mr. Cain?" She chuckled. Then something hit her. Wasn't Cain the name of the Minister of Magic over here in Britain? She decided to ask him about that later. Now, getting him to be her date was most important. She usually didn't show up anywhere with a date, that way she could leave with whoever she wanted, but she wanted to be selfish this time. She didn't want him going home with whoever he wanted. The thought made her chuckle.
His dramatic and mysterious coffee sip was enough to get a full fledged laugh out of her. Where did this guy come from? He was funny, handsome and bold. He also had a lot of other redeeming qualities that she wasn't going to list right now, she wasn't fond of blushing that much in public. "Perhaps you can meet my father some day, if he ever comes to visit." Her eyes widened for a moment. She really hadn't introduced any man to her father. Ever. Her father was one of her best friends and most trusted confidants, so she didn't want to bring just anyone around to him. Well, hopefully John didn't take it in a bad way. "What I mean is, you two would get along." Nice save, she thought.
When he spoke sympathetically and kindly about her parents, she reached over to him and squeezed it, "I hope you're right," she pulled her hand away and took another sip of her coffee. The gesture was truly one of gratitude, not her trying to get all snuggly and cute with him in public. "Anyway, I'm sure you don't want to hear more about them," she chuckled.

John narrowed his eyes at the red head, one eyebrow raised at her in question. "Did you just ask me on a date?" He said aloud, the smirk evident in his tone. It wasn't often girls asked him on dates. Actually, John just doesn't date. So the fact that he wasn't immediately scared away by the mere mention of the "D" word was a good sign indeed.
At the mention of meeting Isis' father however, John's eyes widened slightly. John hardly ever talked enough to women to rightly justify meeting their cat. Isis thought he could meet her father? "What I mean is you two would get along." John let out a mental sigh at her words. He decided to roll with whatever save this was. "I'm sure we would," he said simply, and sipped more of his coffee.
John set his coffee down. Why did he care that Isis wanted him to meet her father? So far, this red head had intrigued John so deeply, he wanted nothing more than to know everything about her. Suddenly, a thought came to the Auror's mind... and there was nothing showing an effort to storm him from expressing it. "Actually," he finally spoke. "I would." John straightened up in his chair, an eyebrow raising at Isis. "Over dinner?"
It was kind of a like a shot in the dark. It was so unlike him... to want to go out with a woman. But John really found himself wanting to really take Isis out and get to know her more. So much so that as he waited for Isis to respond, he could feel his heart beating anxiously at an unusually face pace... at least for John.

Isis narrowed her eyes right back at John, "Sure did, what ya gonna do about it?" she said with a smile. She couldn't keep a straight face for very long, especially not when having such an amusing conversation. Isis didn't usually go steady with anyone, but she had been on a lot of dates. It was the second date that was really hard to get. Though, technically, wasn't this kind of a second date? So wouldn't the next one be a third? Nope, she did not want to think about it like that. Hogshead would be first date, that was that.
Isis simply nodded at Johns agreement to her comment about her father. She figured the issue didn't really need pushing at this time, especially since John had agreed so casually. Wait... now he was asking her on a date? Was he already asking her on their second date before they even went on their first one? This was a real head spinner, that was sure. Isis cocked her head to the side, leaning back into her chair and straightening as well. She slowly lifted her coffee, taking a long sip and making him wait for an answer. This was the fun part for her, the intrigue. Well, most guys would just call it torture.
After she released the coffee cup from her lips, she gently set in on the table. "I think dinner would be excellent," she said softly. She lifted her eyes to meet his. What a delicate situation they were in. They couldn't have the awkward 'do you sleep together after two dates, three? Four?' situation because they had already done that. It was supposed to be a one night stand but now...
She lifted her coffee again, taking a smaller sip this time, "I'm really glad I ran into you today, John Cain." She smiled.

John's eyes narrowed at Isis a moment but then softened. He shrugged and took another sip of his coffee. "Guess I will have to accept. I don't think you're going to give me much else of a choice." He glanced sideways at her and revealed a smirk behind his cup. But when he saw her smile he really couldn't help but smile either.
John watched Isis intently as she took a long sip of coffee. For a moment, he was certain she was doing that on purpose and the thought only made him smile just a little bit. He just had a feeling she was teasing him. Evidently, it seemed to be a hobby of hers. But he also had a feeling it wouldn't stop intriguing him... His smile widened when Isis finally replied. How odd it was that he found this girl... who seemed to run along the same train of thought he did.
John lifted his coffee as if to toast to Isis. "Ditto, Red," he winked and took another sip of his coffee. Something told him that he would be seeing quite a bit of Isis in the future...
(I think this is a good spot to stop. On to the dates!!) @isisoconner
