Why couldn't everything be normal? No matter what happened nothing would ever be normal. It didn't matter what happened because she would take it all in stride like she always did. Catherine had to grow up fast because of her seer ability. Since a little girl she saw things that no child should see. It wasn't like she was ever going to be able to get rid of her ability so she had to embrace it even if she didn't like it. No one in her family ever had this ability; well the ones who were still alive didn't have it. She had to learn to handle this by herself. She knew her family wanted to be there for her but this was impossible to try to help her through. All she saw were horrific scenes of people dying. Students all the time came up to her and asked her to tell them their future. No matter how many times she said that she couldn't and she couldn't just bring the visions on at her whim they kept asking her, hardly giving her a moment’s peace. She didn't have any friends because she never trusted anyone.
She spent most of her time reading a book just for fun, or she was studying everything she could to learn whatever she could. She loved reading and studying. A lot of people wondered why the shy quiet girl wasn't in Ravenclaw. She wanted to be in Gryffindor like the rest of her family, though she never knew why. She never had been the brave one. No that was her brother. He was always there no matter what. He was the brave one. She always wanted to be like him. She wanted to be fearless and the pride and joy of the family. She only ever felt like the outcast because of her ability. For once she wanted to hang out with some kids her age and not have one of them ask her to see their future or to have her older brother come to her defense because she wouldn't speak up against the ones who always kept hounding her about their future.
Right now Catherine was having trouble sleeping. She had some nightmare/visions again as always. After a while she just got up and left her dorm. As she walked out she grabbed a book she was reading and went downstairs to the common room. No one was down there so she sat down in an arm chair and started to read. She didn't know what time she had went down there or how long she stayed but she was there for hours because she finished her book. She closed it and was just about to go back and get another book, or textbook, to read when she heard a noise, and then footsteps.
