She leaned back toward him and he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her against his chest and resting his chin on top of her head. "We can deal with this. Together, we'll get through it," he encouraged. He knew it wasn't the right time to.... celebrate, per say... for now, Bay just needed some time.
----
Christmas evening eventually rolled around, and Zander couldn't be more excited. He had prepared a special surprise for his wife, and he couldn't wait to show her! It was around five p.m. and he walked in the door and stomped off his shoes, shrugging off his snow covered coat and hanging it up. "Lynn? Babe, I'm home!" he called, moving into the apartment. His hands were slightly shaking. Yes, he was nervous about his surprise...

It was so strange, celebrating Christmas with... her husband. Just the two of them. Braelynn was used to grand events her parents would host, having to entertain their guests and act like the perfect daughter. She'd always hated it. So despite being different and foreign it was... nice. Amazing actually. It'd been a quiet holiday, which was exactly what Bay needed considering recent developments. She'd come to accept that Desirae was dead, and was trying to figure out if that meant it was safe to come out of hiding. She still didn't trust Elaine to not retaliate though. But, Braelynn wasn't going to keep waiting anymore. They just needed to figure out a plan...
Zander had stepped out for a while, so Braelynn, with a serious lapse in judgement had pulled out of if their cook books and tried to find a recipe that she felt capable of doing. Only problem? Braelynn was a terrible cook, much to her surprise. She thought it'd be easy. She'd done extremely well in potions, cooking was similar, right? No, not at all. Thankfully Zander's reappearance was enough to deter her from actually attempting to cook again, the young woman shutting the book and setting it back on the shelf with the rest. She followed his voice, finding Zander in the living room with a both excited and nervous look. She raised and eyebrow as she crossed the room to him and softly kissed him on the cheek. "Welcome home." she greeted softly.

His beautiful wife was soon before him, crossing the room to kiss him on the cheek and raise her eyebrow suspiciously at him. He chuckled softly, nervously, and lifted a hand to play with the hair beside her face. "Thank you. Merry Christmas," he replied, just as softly. "Did you eat yet?," he suggested. He wasn't necessarily a bad cook, but he wasn't anything special.
He was anxious to get his present out of the way, so his heart wouldn't beat so loud in his ears anymore. "Let's do presents first. Maybe. If you want," he said quickly, clearing his throat awkwardly afterward. It was amazing that he had kept the secret of his not-dead wife for so long.

Braelynn wasn't sure if she should be worried or curious about her husband's obvious nervousness. Had something happened earlier? Something with his siblings, or his music? Was it one of his friends? There were so many possibilities, it made her head hurt just trying to narrow it down. She didn't even know if it was good or bad. "Merry Christmas." she responded with a small smile. At the mention of food she shrugged. Even after months of being on the mend she still didn't have the biggest of appetites.
His nervousness was back as he mentioned sound presents first. She slowly nodded. "If you want." it made little difference to her. But his behavior was... concerning. "Is everything alright..?"

She returned his Merry Christmas and then shrugged when he asked if she'd eaten. He knew that she wasn't a big eater, especially not ever since she 'died', which worried him, but he hoped that he could make her feel a bit better with some sort of Christmas type meal... it was Christmas, after all. She said they could do presents first if he wanted and he felt his stomach lurch. Then, she asked if everything was alright and his eyes widened slightly.
He moved his hands to take both of hers, "yes, yes, everything is fine... I'm just nervous about your gift... I just need to get through it," he assured her. He released her hand and took a step back. "Okay..." he took a deep breath.
And suddenly he was a fox. A Canadian marble fox, to be specific. He looked up at her, ears down flat due to his nerves and cocked his head to once side. He wouldn't be able to keep it up for long but it was a start!

Nervous about the present? That didn't make sense do Braelynn at all. She squeeze his hands just a little, hoping that's convey some sort of reassurance and not the severe confusion she was feeling. She didn't try to respond though, just nodded as if in understanding. Even though she didn't understand. But she figured she would soon since he was taking a step back, pulling his hands away from her. She didn't move, just stayed where he's left her and waited for him to... well she wasn't sure what she was waiting for! She didn't have to wait long though.
She'd recognize an animagi transformation anywhere. She underwent it almost daily. Her eyes widened, surprise and shock apparent. When did he...? How...?
Without even realizing she'd moved, Bay dropped to her knees in front of him and delicately extended a hand to run across the soft fur on his head. "You.... You did this for me..?" she asked softly, so quiet that she almost didn't even hear herself. This man... this amazing, perfect man.

He was pleased at the shocked look on her face and he squeaked a little at her, amused. She was quickly on her knees in front of him and rubbing the top of his head, to which he rubbed his head against her hand, a happy sound coming out of his mouth. He wasn't used to those sounds coming from himself, yet. She asked for clarification, almost in awe it seemed, that he had done this for her. He was glad he had big ears to hear because she had spoken rather quietly.
He nodded, then turned his head up lick her hand before scurrying back just a little and transforming into himself again. He sat in front of her and wrapped his arms around his legs, his shoulders hunching, "so... you like it? I'm afraid I can't do it for that long yet... but yeah," he couldn't help but grin at her, his face flushing a little. He was pretty proud of himself, but more so pleased with her reaction.

The sounds he made caused Braelynn to smile at first, but chuckle softly as he continues on with the strange fox sounds. Foxes really did make some strange noises, but she'd become so used to them that she had almost forgotten how she must sound to others. But hearing Zander make them? It brought back that realization. She overall felt quite strange because it was like an out of body experience. It was like she and Zander had switched places. She didn't share that though. Just let him a little more enthusiastically on the head before he pulled back and changed back into a human.
He settled himself in front of her. Still sounding a little nervous but not nearly as bad as before. She immediately nodded. "I do." she softly responded. That he'd do this for her... there was a familiar tightness in her chest that she'd come to recognize as love, anders familiar presence made her smile. The young woman leaned forward, still on her knees, and wrapped her arms around his shoulders to embrace him fondly. "You're amazing, Zander..."

She nodded, said that she did like it. Her voice was soft, which he hoped was just because she was emotionally overwhelmed with happiness. She leaned toward him and he unwrapped his arms from his knees to hold them out to her and accept her embrace. She said he was amazing, and he just shook his head, burying his face in her hair at her neck. "Only because you make me so," he replied. That gave him a song idea but he filed that away in his mind, tightening his grip around her.
"I love you the most," he reminded her. The most as in more than he loved anyone else, as in more than anyone else loved her, as in more than she loved him. He knew that she'd debate some of those reasoning's, of course, but he was too wrapped up in that warm love to care. He shifted so that he could pull her even closer, onto his lap, and pulled back enough to look into her eyes, "so, what do you say we make some food together and then..." his eyes shifted toward their bedroom awkwardly and he cleared his throat, "celebrate our first Christmas together as husband and wife?" wow. He still got butterflies saying those words.
@braelynn (gah I've missed these two. WE can continue Christmas, move onto new years... fade this to end, thread out them cooking dinner. whatever XD)

Zander shifted to hug her back, his head against her neck as he shook his head and countered what she'd said. She laughed softly, and shook her own head in response. No, he was amazing long before he'd met her. He'd been the one to make her stronger and want to be a better person. She'd... never felt like a good person. Not really. Not until she met Zander.
He was a total romantic, and she knew exactly what he meant by his adding 'the most' after I love you. They'd never agree on one of those points. "I love you just as much." She softly countered, just as much as he loved her. She'd never felt this way about anyone else. He was.... He completed her, as strange as that sounded. Feeling him shift against her, she followed his lead, settling herself in his lap and loosing her arms around him a bit when he pulled back to speak and meet her gaze. She started to smile first, but as his gaze flickered to the bedroom she felt her cheeks warm with a slight blush. Even after being married she was... well, they both were still pretty shy whenever they were together intimately. Unwrapping one of her hands from his shoulders she lightly pressed her palm against his cheek and leaned forward to delicately kiss him. When she pulled back she smiled. "Take out might be better." She answered, completely serious. If... If they wanted their first Christmas together to be special, accidentally burning dinner might not be the most romantic.
@zander (uuuuuuuh, you decide?! I think these two should at least get one official fade eventually, but I don't care when that happens, haha.)

He knew she would counter his I love you the most, and he was okay with her answer. At least it wasn't 'I love you more' because then it would be a challenge! She followed his lead as he pulled her onto his lap and he couldn't help but smile more when her cheeks reddened at his words. She made the next move, though, moving her hand to his cheek and kissing him. She stated that take out might be better and he took a deep breath, nodding, feeling his heart rate pick up a bit. "I'm not entirely hungry just yet..." he admitted. He kept one arm wrapped around her waist and moved the other to reach up into her hair, gently cradling the back of her neck. He turned himself so his back wasn't against the couch frame anymore and slowly started to lean back toward the couch cushions underneath them. "Maybe it's best to just stay here... for now," he suggested, his voice lowering into a whisper until he was flat on the couch, pulling her down with him, and kissing her.
@braelynn (AAAH THIS IS WEIRD hahaha. You can do another or... that can be it... >.> or we can do a few more errhhh I dunno we're so good at this. Comeon where is our inner ondicass)
