Dan was just getting ready to leave the Durmstrang ship when a tingle went up his spine, making the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. Dang, her emotions were strong. He always knew when his classmate Maria was around because it was like thunder. The clouds of her emotions slowly rolling toward him, all jumbled and mixed together. It was like she was feeling a hundred things at once. But when those moments came that an emotion spiked, it was like a stab in the brain. He was coming up the stairs when he had stopped, and now faced a choice. Go back below and hide out, or go up where she clearly was and face her. He didn't mind Maria, really. She hadn't done anything to hurt him. But she was just such an emotional being. Her emotions were like a fire. Sometimes just embers but you knew there was something big underneath, and other times like the big flames that engulf you in seconds. He took a deep breath, and came up above deck....

Maria was up on the deck of the Durmstrang ship, leaning against the side and staring out at the Hogwarts grounds. A week ago her cousin, Elias, had been declared the Durmstrang champion. In that week, she'd seen a good number of people approach her cousin that wouldn't have before now. People interested in just his new 'title', and it made her skin crawl. Normally she'd be there in a heart beat, chasing off the power hungry vultures. But she'd told Elias she'd work on that. That she'd stop scaring people away. But dammit, it was hard! Currently, she could see her cousin, out on the grounds, talking to.... Was that Margaux? She raised an eyebrow, leaning forward a bit more and squinting. It had to be. The light blue uniform, the hair. And they were going into the forest. Both her eyebrows raised then. She pushed away from the railing, and headed for the ramp, to follow her cousin and the french girl, but stopped when Daniel Hoh stepped out in front of her, just coming up from below deck.
Ah, Dan. He was probably the only Durmstrang boy she hadn't slept with that wasn't... well, against her advances. He'd just never go there. But he'd never stopped her from flirting with him. In fact, he was usually pretty receptive. He just always stopped before it went to far. Maria typically didn't like being told no. But that was how Dan had always been. If he ever said yes, oh she'd take advantage of the situation immediately, but being refused just didn't bother her anymore either.
"Daniel!" She breathed dreamily and took several steps towards him so she could slip her arms around his waist and lean into him. "Where have you been the last few weeks? I never see you anymore." She pouted. She liked flirting with Dan. And considering the past few weeks she needed the distraction. If she couldn't find someone willing to be with her, someone willing to flirt was the next best thing.

DAn reconigized that voice and smiled as he turned around. He didn't mind Maria. In fact, he considered her a friend. Her emotions were always so... aggressive, though. The girl was like a freaking volcano. She took his waist, which he was used to by now, and leaned toward him. He put an arm around her shoulders and pulled her close in a hug, but he dropped his arm pretty quickly back to his side as best he could. "Oh, you know me, just painting the town red," he teased. Her little pout was rather impressive, and the flirtatious emotions always made him smile. He grinned a half smile at her and gave a small shrug. "How have things been for you? Since Elias got chosen and all," he mused.

Maria had always known that Daniel wasn't the most keen on physical contact. But she didn't care. She liked it, and she wasn't the most sensitive when it came to other people's feelings. She was selfish like that. But, Daniel hadn't complained too much. "Oh? And you didn't invite me to come along? I'm hurt." She leaned into him, having to tilt her head back to keep eye contact with him. At the mention of her cousin, Elias, she shrugged. Well, as best she could with her arms around his waist. "About the same. Family drama. Making new friends." The way she said friends... Well, it was obvious she had a very different meaning of the word friends then was standard. They'd been class mates for six years now, so Dan would know what that definition was.
Maria finally removed her hands from his waist, though they now rested against him chest. "I've heard you've been making friends too. Or rather, just one lady friend. How's that going?"

Dan chuckled as she pouted about him not inviting her to 'paint the town'. She kept eye contact with him, which always made Dan a tad uncomfortable. "Next time, maybe?" he joked, grinning back. She always made him feel better, though, even if she was all touchy feely. Her emotions had a way of making it easy to talk with her, even to let her hold his arm.
He nodded as she spoke about family drama. He was concerned about the emotions laced behind that, but then she mentioned 'friends' and he chuckled. "Does that translate to 'enemies' or 'lovers', Maria?" he teased.
Then she shifted her hands and he found himself leaning forward. Her emotions were just so inviting. But she mentioned Irina, and he blinked, then nodded. "Oh, yeah. We've been friends for our whole lives... but not friends for that long..." he admitted slowly. "It's going... interestingly?"

A positively wicked smile and impish glint in the eye appeared. Enemies or lovers? "It translates to 'Spass'." Maria softly purred, throwing in the German word for fun. She'd always been goo with languages. It was almost terrifying how quickly she could pick them up. It was usually best not to mention her lingual skills though because of the amount of sexual innuendos she was infamous for using. "That offer from last year is still good, in case you get tired of your lady friend. I'll always make an exception for you." Oh, Maria had made it very dang clear that she thought Dan was attractive last year. And even though he'd never been willing to go anywhere with her, she'd left no question of her willingness if he ever wanted something to happen. But, unless that happened she'd respect his decision to just be flirty friends.
Maria stepped back suddenly, breaking all physical contact between them as he finally explained who his friend. "Interestingly? How so?" Suddenly she was curious. Who was this mystery girl that Dan was dating?

Daniel couldn't help but chuckle as she used his own language, saying that it just transferred to 'fun', not anything more specific than that. "Awe, well, don't kill anyone," Dan said, "a little too much spass can be bad for some people," he knew it was bad for him, at least. He guessed. He didn't really have that much experience at this point. She said she'd always make an exception and he scoffed, raising an eyebrow, "what do you mean exception? Don't you make that offer to many people? How am I special?" he chuckled. He loved to tease the girl, seeing as they were such good friends and all. Sadly, Dan wasn't ready to make that sort of connection with anyone...
She asked how it was interesting, stepping back away from him and he caught his breath, surprised by the sudden movement. "Just... haven't been involved with a girl before, I guess. Not sure how it all works-" he held up his hands to stop her before she could speak, "not that I need a biology lesson, Maria. Just that I don't understand all that emotion sh*t," he said, in all honesty.

"Kill anyone?!" Maria feigned shock, giving her friend an appalled look at the request. "I'd never!" She continued to protest, though a grin was starting to break through, the girl no longer able to maintain that look of innocent horror. "I don't give anyone anything they can't handle." She finally admitted. And yes, that did periodically involve burning... But death? She might be violent but not that violent.
Maria went on to shrug as Dan teased her about her making that offer to other people. "I do, but you aren't like those other people. You're my friend. Shouldn't that make you special?" She explained as if it was obvious. She was using a different definition of friends now, the one that most people meant. Something that Maria had surprisingly few of. It was a surprisingly very honest answer for her.
Leaning against the railing of the ship, she tilted her head as he spoke. She'd opened her mouth to respond when he'd first stopped, but closed it when he immediately continued and grinned mischievously. He knew her far too well. "Are you sure you don't want a biology lesson? I'm pretty good at those." She teased, unable to help it, before shrugging. "You're talking to the wrong person when it comes to 'emotion' and 'relationships', love. The only emotion that's mattered in any of my relationships is lust, and a strong desire to not be bored." She admitted, answering bluntly. Maria's relationships almost never involved emotions, at least on her part. Her partners? Well, she supposed some of them felt more than she did about the whole thing... "So what's so difficult about the emotions?" She asked curiously.
