Janae had finally found the book she was looking for! Maybe this time her charm would work. Why hadn't she thought about enchanting an object before? It would be a lot less dangerous. Holding the book up close to her face ducking her head down she quickly walked towards the door. She wanted to get out of their quickly before the stares started again. The boils on her skin from the curse from Xavier were not looking better. The more she focused on what she was doing the less she noticed the pain. It was so hard to ignore. Anger rose in her chest. Xavier couldn't get away with this. She was too scared to tell the nurse who had done it before but as the anger grew she felt a strong desire to somehow make it even.
Her racing thoughts stopped as she saw a familiar face. It was Brandon! It had been awhile since she had actually seen him. They had written for awhile after he decided to leave. That was a sad day for her. She loved how comfortable he made her feel. They were so alike she felt like she could tell him everything. Forgetting how she must look she ran over to him grabbing him in a hug. This was perfect timing. She needed him right now more than ever with everything going on. "Brandon! What are you doing here? Its been too long!" Janae said grinning. Using the muscles in her face sent a shock of pain making her grimace. It was ok. Everything was going to be ok now.

Brandon walked into the library, looking for something or someone. He didn't really know what he was doing, but he was tired of studying, so he hoped that by coming to the library he would be able to find something to do. The last time he came up here he met Addilyn, which was a good experience. Hopefully something equally good would happen today.
He turned when he heard someone call his name and had barely enough time to recognize her before he was wrapped in a hug. Janae. Brandon laughed a little, glad to see such a familiar face. When he went off to Durmstrang, she was one of the friends he missed the most. They'd owled one another occasionally over the last year, but it wasn't the same. He hugged her back, relishing in the familiarity. He pulled away when she asked what he was doing here. "I came here for the tournament," he told her with a smile. That is, until he noticed that something was terribly wrong. She had boils all over her face. "Janae, what happened to you? Are you- what happened?" He asked, his expression and tone revealing her concern. Who on earth could have done this to her- because it was obvious that it was no accident- and why? "Tell me," he encouraged as he led her over to some unused chairs in the corner of the library.

Janae saw the concern cross Brandon's face. She felt a wave of relief wash over her as she felt not so alone anymore. She carefully sat down next to Brandon. Why did every move have to be so painful! Warmth flooded her cheeks as she thought of the events leading up to this stupid situation. Naturally Janae hesitated opening up but this was Brandon. She could talk to him. "Oh I guess I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time." Janae shrugged. "I just ran into this super jerk who obviously desperately needs some therapy." She tried to sound light. "Of course you came for the tournament though, that makes sense." Janae tried not to sound too annoyed. Everything was about this crazy tournament. It didn't matter, it got him here.

Brandon gritted his teeth when Janae made excuses. He wasn't mad at her, and normally Brandon was a very relaxed, easy-going person, but someone hurt her. On purpose, it seemed, and that was not alright with him. "So you ran into someone and he hexed you for it?" he asked, mostly trying to clarify. Had he understood that correctly? "Have you been to the hospital wing?" Brandon was concerned for his friend and he couldn't hide it. Was she alright or was she trying to brave the pain?
He gave a small smile, "I came for the tournament ... and to come back. I missed it here," he confessed. Really, he did miss all his friends, his school family. Even though he wasn't going to Hogwarts anymore, it was nice to see them again.

Janae started to get a little nervous as Brandon kept pursuing information about the boils. She didn't want to cause any problems. There was nothing anyone could do anyway. But even as she thought that a twinge of anger pulled at her gut. If only she could... She stopped herself then. There was no point in trying to get revenge. That guy would probably retaliate more than was worth her effort. Taking a deep breath she tried to carefully shrug. "Yeah, some bully hexed me. But he is not worth the time so I am just trying to move on. And yeah I went to the hospital wing. They couldn't figure out how to help. So much for awesome magic. " Janae rolled her eyes trying to seem nonchalant.
Trying to change the subject she looked carefully at Brandon. "How are you doing? Is everything going ok with your, uh, family?" Janae never quite new how to talk about that subject. She also didn't want to make him uncomfortable. But she wanted him to know she was there for him if he wanted.

Brandon could tell that Janae was uncomfortable. He wasn't quite sure if it was because of the pain she was in or because of the boils, but he was determined to help in any way he could, even if it meant dropping it. "I'm sorry," he said after a moment. If he wasn't going to push for more information, then there wasn't much more he could say. "If you happen to think of any way I can help, you'll let me know, right?" He wasn't sure if she would or not; they weren't as close as they once were. He just hoped that she would still confide in him.
She asked about his family and Brandon smiled, "I'm fine. It's really nice to be back here, but weird at the same time. I feel like I should be in normal classes, but I'm just doing the ones on the ship. It's like being a stranger in your own home, if that makes any sense. How are you liking the new year, other than recent events?" He asked, trying to not make it seem like he was pushing for more information on the boils. He shrugged at the question about his family. "They're fine. I think they're still mad at me, so we don't really talk much. My Dad's really good though," he said, trying to end the subject on a happier note. Talking about his family was always awkward. The situation was weird and he didn't like it.
