Edmund smiled when Cordelia introduced herself and then Lily said she was her favorite person. "Well, it's nice to meet you Cordelia," he said, following them over to the drink table. He chuckled quietly when Lily teased Cordelia and decided to just stand back a little bit and relax. It was interesting to watch the way Lily interacted with the girl. Edmund grabbed his own glass of water, sipping as he watched the two. A part of him was relieved that Cordelia distracted Lily from her determination to made Ed dance. That made things much more comfortable and enjoyable for him. Thinking of that, maybe now would be a good time to slip away before Lily remembered how much fun she had making him feel uncomfortable. Well, he'd finish his water and then he'd go. For now, he'd simply watch things. cordelia regan smith lily luna potter

There was no denying the fact that Gwen was happy to see him. He could tell by her smile and how she turned her whole attention to him the moment he spoke to her. Good. He wanted her to be in a good mood. He was thinking that if she enjoyed dancing with him tonight, he might just take the chance and ask her to go to the Yule Ball with him. She didn't have to say yes, of course, but he would have asked her. And that was a large part of the battle.
She mentioned her best friend's illness and Dastan's eyebrows furrowed in concern. Of course, there was no way he could have known that her best friend was sick unless she told him, but he still felt sorry for her, for the situation. "I am sorry to hear that. Maybe I could go with you to visit her sometime and you could introduce us?" Dastan was hesitant with his suggestion, but he wanted to get to know Gwen's friends, so if one of them was sick in the hospital wing, then that was a place he needed to go.
He smiled softly when she answered his question, saying that they should dance. Dastan took her hands and pulled her out on the dance floor, moving to the fast-paced beat as he smiled at the beautiful girl in front of him. He knew it was sudden, but he wanted to ask her all of a sudden. "Gwen, I have a question for you," he leaned forward as he spoke, wanting to make sure she could hear him, but not wanting to be so loud that everyone heard.

"Okay, bye River!" Susan said, waving as the boy left, presumably to find that girl. Andy was in front of her then, saying she was about to call it a night. "Noo not yet Andy! Our song hasn't played yet!" she exclaimed, grabbing her friends hand. She dragged her over to the music and bent down, looking for the song in question. "Here it is!" Susan exclaimed. As 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun' blared over the dance floor, Susan grabbed her friends hand again and dragged her out onto the dance floor. "You did promise," she cried, giggling as she spun her friend around. Oh this would be fun when Phil came back a week earlier and surprised Andy in the middle of a dance!

Susan reminded Andy that she couldn't leave until their song played and Andy laughed, willingly being led to the music and then back onto the dance floor. "I did promise, yes," Andy recalled, taking Susans hands and moving to the dance floor with her. She laughed, she spun, and had an all around great time. It was the perfect place to be, with one of her closest friends. The only people missing were Phil and Braelynn, and then this little dance party would be complete, at least in Andy's eyes. Anna was probably around somewhere, but Andy didn't see her.
When the song ended, Andy gave Su a kiss on the cheek and slipped out, leaning against the wall once outside. She caught sight of the auror Finn not far off and smiled at him. Maybe things weren't so bad after all.

She could feel her face start to redden as Lily threw her arm around her shoulders and said she was her favorite person in the world. There was no way that could be true. Lily knew so many people, there had to be at least a few that were better than she was. Ones that weren’t as quiet or shy or stuttered. Still, it made her happy to hear that, especially after Lily was going out of her way to spend time with her, even though there were dozens of other people vying for her attention at the party, including the Edmund boy. Cordelia didn’t make too much of it as they introduced themselves and she was whisked away to the drinks table. Letting out an awkward laugh as Lily said there wasn’t anything alcoholic there, not that she would even think of doing that in the first place, Cordelia took a water and half watched Edmund from his distance a few feet away. “W-Were you teaching Edmund how to d-dance too?”

Dan shook his head at her little request about him singing more often. The high energy of the people around him was making him feel hyper, though and he was having a hard time not bouncing on his toes. It was a fun high, for now, but if he stayed here too long he'd have so much energy that he wouldn't be able to sleep for a long time. "Oh? Is the dress easy to step on?" he asked, spinning her back toward him and taking her in a classic waltz stance and attempting to fit it to the music. He laughed, releasing her again to move his hands to her waist in order to lift her up and spin her around. Then, he placed her feet back on the ground, "you know, I haven't asked my parents to get my dress robes yet. What color do you want?" he asked. "I've got green, black, red and white. Don't ask why I have so many," he chuckled, but he told her anyway, "I like to dress up when I go to Louisas concerts, since they're so professional and all."

Irina giggled as he lifted her up in the air and set her down. She knew he was probably a lot more comfortable with slower waltz-like dances than this fast paced music, but her father had told her about the Yule Ball and there were plenty of opportunities for walzes, including the opening song. He'd have plenty of time to walz her around the dance floor then. "Nope," she said, wagging her finger at him and making a face. "You're not getting that out of me. But I will say I think the white ones would look good. They'd bring out your eyes," she said with a cheeky grin. She had completely fallen in love with the dress the minute she saw it, and she thought it would make her look breathtaking. So naturally she wasn't about to tell her date what it looked like! "Speaking of your sister, she mentioned she's performing a concert series this winter - she said she'd be happy to give us tickets if you were up for it?" she asked him, remembering her conversation with Louisa. She'd always liked the older Hoh girl very much; they had bonded over their shared love of music.

At Cordelias question Lily grinned and giggled, reaching out with her drink in hand to attempt to pull Ed closer, "I was! I think the three of us would be an excellent dancing trio. Or! We could find a Ravenclaw and have a complete set," she glanced around the room, trying to find someone she knew well. Awe, come on, she knew everyone! She turned back to her two precious little dance trainees, "aw, we'll worry about that later. For now you too drink up so we can get back out there," she instructed.
She chugged her water and smacked her lips when it was gone, "maybe Ed is a little more classically trained, though? Should I change the music?" she guessed, raising an eyebrow at him. He was royalty after all, come on!

Lily claimed Ed’s attention when she said that she was teaching him how to dance. He knew how to dance! He just wasn’t comfortable with it and … oh, all right, he didn’t know how to dance the way that everyone else was dancing here. In all the balls he’d been to, dancing by yourself to music next to others had never been a thing that he participated in. He shook his head a little, rolling his eyes when Lily said that she wanted to find a Ravenclaw to dance with them so they’d have a complete set. Well, that meant that Cordelia here was a Hufflepuff. Good to know. “Yes ma’am!” Ed teased when Lily told him to finish his drink so they could dance. Apparently he wasn’t going to be able to sneak out of here easily. Edmund shrugged when Lily asked if she should change the music to fit the type of dancing he was more familiar with. “You can if you want, but it’s not really easy to have three people dance together with that type of music,” he told her logically. Honestly, he would feel more comfortable dancing to that kind of music, but he knew most people would groan when it was turned on. If Lily decided to turn it on, that was. lily luna potter cordelia regan smith

Cordelia felt a wave of relief come over her as she realized she wasn’t the only one that didn’t know how to dance there. Lily had done a rather good job teaching her in the few minutes they had together at the beginning of the party, the rest having been handed over to the other group. She glanced through the crowd but couldn’t see them anymore. They were probably having fun together, and she didn’t want to go back and tread on any of that. Lily seemed to want to get going again, so Cordelia followed suite, chugging the rest of her water and setting the cup back near the table. Turning back to face the other two, she caught a snippet about Edmund being able to dance to different music, classical. Her ears perked up at that, since she tried to listen to classical styles as much as possible. It was relaxing, unlike the stuff that was playing right now in the room. “Y-You’re c-classically trained in dancing?” She asked Edmund, slightly puzzled. That didn’t seem too out of the ordinary for Hogwarts did it? Especially with that dance thing for the tournament during Christmas break. She wasn’t really thinking of attending, especially since a date was required…

Gwen was relieved to find that having brought up Xanthippe hadn't completely killed the mood, though she made sure that she tread carefully. Dastan said that he was sorry to hear that Xan was ill, but, even more than that, he suggested that he could come with her to the Hospital Wing at some point to introduce the two of them.
While it wouldn't really be a date, Xan deserved to meet Dastan. He was the one who had suggested it, too, so she wouldn't have to drag him there and feel terrible about it afterwards. It seemed almost too good to be true. Nodding her head, Gwen smiled, though she wasn't sure if the smile had ever left her face. “Of course,” she agreed. She had a feeling that Xan would enjoy having a new face around to keep her company, too.
As she began to dance with Dastan, Gwen wished that she were more of a “triple threat“. Even so, she was quite at home on the dance floor, unable to take her eyes off of Dastan. “Gwen,” she heard him say over the sound of the music. He was leaning forward a bit, probably so that she could hear him better. “I have a question for you.”
Puzzled, she reined in her dancing so that she could focus on what he was saying, although she didn't stop completely. “Yeah?”

Realizing that the reason why there was hardly anyone else in the Hufflepuff Common Room was because of the party that was being held in the Room of Requirement, Tatiana decided to put on something nicer and go up there, herself. She wished that she had gone with Ripley or Cordelia—someone who would be able to get her out of a situation if it became too overwhelming for her. Even walking up to the seventh floor of the castle on her own was slightly terrifying; she had never had the Room of Requirement deny her entry before, but she worried that it might. Tania didn’t even known what she was supposed to think about to gain entry, to begin with.
As she reached the spot where the Room of Requirement was supposed to be, Tania slipped in behind another student, grateful that someone else had turned up late. Irina and Daniel were dancing together, she saw, and Cordelia was talking with Lily Potter and Edmund Windsor. Not wanting to distract anyone, Tania weighed her options. Staying as close to the door as she could seemed like a safe solution, since she could slip out if the party became too much for her to handle without seeming entirely antisocial.
Noticing the Aurors that were there to supervise them, Tania breathed an audible sigh. There were other people there to keep an eye on her safety, which was comforting. She forced the muscles in her face to move until she was smiling. Everyone else seemed to be having so much fun, and she wished that she felt the same way.

Part of the experience of being at Hogwarts was getting to meet students from more than just her own school, and the thought of a party to which all of the students had been invited seemed like a prime opportunity for Chantal to mingle with everyone else. She had gotten her school assignments done the night before, ensuring that she was free to enjoy her evening.
While she had thought that choosing an outfit was going to be the hardest part of the whole thing, finding the Room of Requirement was even more of a challenge. Deciding to wear high heels, Chantal thought to herself, had been a stupid idea; she had forgotten just how many stairs the castle had, and her feet were already beginning to hurt by the time that she reached the right floor. Supposedly, if she walked back and forth in front of a certain spot, a door would appear.
Chantal was sure that she had reached it when she saw a few other students milling around it: The Room of Requirement. From the outside, it didn't look like much of interest, but, on the inside, it was crowded with people. Knowing that she would be miserable for the rest of the night if she didn't, she went immediately to one of the tables, sat down, and began to pull her shoes off.

Dastan nodded, pleased when Gwen agreed to take him to meet her friend. That was a good thing, right? Meeting the friends of people that you were interested in? Dastan wasn't very sure about what he should do, but he figured that was a good start. Besides, if her friend was really that sick, then she wouldn't mind some company.
Dancing with Gwen was fun and comfortable, more so than Dastan anticipated, and he thought she was really good. Granted, he was one of the guys that did the shuffle back and forth. Sure, when it was classical music he could dance well- that was almost required, being from France- but when it came to music like this he never knew what to do.
She looked so confused when Dastan said that he had a question that he couldn't help but smile. Was this going to take her completely by surprise? He was a little interested to see how she responded to her question. "I was wondering if you have already been asked to the Yule Ball and if not ... will you go with me?" Really, he should have asked those two questions separately, but Dastan couldn't handle the suspense. He just wanted to know if Gwen would go with him. Besides, if she'd already been asked, then it would nullify his second question, no harm done. Except this way she knew for sure that he wanted to go with her, whether she was able to or not. Maybe that wasn't such a bad thing ...

Ooh, so she was being secretive about her dress. Fine then. He nodded, "white it is," he agreed. "Can't wait to see how beautiful you look," he said, leaning forward to kiss her on the cheek. Then she was mentioning Louisa and her concert. "Of course I'm going to attend. I guess it'd be pretty fun if we went together," he agreed, sliding his hands down her arms to take her hands and drag her away from the dance floor, "but now our song is over."Irina Rose Krum
