Awe, it was New Years eve. It was around eight o' clock in the evening, the children were being looked after by some of the other staff, who were scheudled to look after them for this night. Freddie was given the night off, able to go and... well, he wasn't sure what he was going to do. Rory wasn't available, the codfish, and so Freddie was all on his own. Spike probably would have been free, but Freddie hadn't asked him in time. He wasn't even sure if he would be free tonight until a few hours ago when his staff told him to just get a move on and have some fun.
He wore jeans tonight, a black v neck shirt, and a black jacket. Simple, easy, not anything fancy. Just out for a casual night of fun. He decided to ride his back into town rather than apparate, which was good fun. He randomly chose to head to Horizon Alley, tying up his bike just outside the Fountain of Fair Fortune. He had just finished tying up his bike when he turned toward the pub and slammed right into someone. He caught their arms so they wouldn't fall, "oh, I'm so-" then he saw who it was and his voice softened, "sorry."
Well, this was starting to look familiar.

Louisa wasn't much of a partier even though she'd been forced to attend an uncountable amount during her time on tour. No, she usually found a quiet place to relax and just watched everyone else enjoy themselves. Several of the other musicians in the orchestra had tried to convince her to go out and celebrate with them tonight, but she'd politely refused. It wasn't just because she didn't party much though. New Years Eve parties always been... unpredictable for her. She didn't like unpredictable. So, to avoid any sort of unpredictability she'd decided to just spend it at her apartment alone. Maybe write a letter to her parents or Daniel, she wasn't sure yet. But before that, she'd decided to briefly visit Horizon Alley, specifically the sweets shop to send some chocolates with the letters.
She was on her way out to head home and just finished tucking the chocolates safely away in her purse when she, as fate would have it, ran right into someone. Well, that's what she got for not playing attention. Immediately strong arms caught her own, preventing her from falling. Louisa let out a soft gasp, momentary surprise on her face, and then... that voice. Her eyes widened. She knew that voice. Slowly, once she'd regained her footing, she looked up, the surprise still there as she met Frederick's gaze. "It's.... alright." She managed to quietly respond. The surprise, thankfully began to fade.

She seemed to catch her footing, so she didn't fall over, but he was too stunned that she was right there, in his arms, to let go of her. Her face shown surprise, which caused his own surprise to slowly give way to a smile. She said it was alright and he nodded, "good," he muttered. He straightened up so he wasn't in such a strange stance anymore, gently loosening his grip on her arms.
He didn't pull away from her completely, though. He didn't want to. His grip was loose enough that she could pull away if she wanted, of course. "Come out with me. Let's get dinner," he said quickly, as if she'd disappear if he didn't say it soon enough.

His grip had loosed but surprisingly neither of them pulled away quite yet. Louisa, if she was being honest, didn't want to pull away. His hands were warm and comfortable. It felt almost... wrong to pull away just yet, and it reminded her of the last time they'd had this much contact...
But, Louisa knew she should. At least step back. Before she could though Frederick had spoken, blurting out a sudden and shocking invitation to dinner. Louisa's surprise was back, and she was a little convinced her emotions were currently broken. "What?" she said without meaning to, as if in disbelief. A moment, then two, passed. Her surprise finally disappeared, replaced by her usual stillness as she thought. She hadn't been planning on going out tonight. She should say no, that she had other plans. But lying to him felt wrong. "Now?" she asked, as if to make sure she'd understood correctly.

Freddie was almost proud of the fact that he could surprise her. He wasn't sure if that was a usual thing. Her 'what?' was an indication of that surprise as well, and he kept his charming soft smile on his lips. He just nodded once, waiting for her to speak again. To accept.
"Now?" she asked, and he nodded once more. "Yes. You. Me. Dinner. New Years Eve, could be good, right?" okay, now he was teasing her just a little bit. He finally pulled on of his hands away, but the other just slid down her arm until he was lightly touching her wrist, not quite brave enough yet to take her hand. "I promise, you won't regret it, Louisa," he said, softer still. "Come out with me. Don't think."

Oh what to do...? Louisa was in quite the dilemma. And then it made her wonder if this really had been a chance meeting. Because what were the chances that neither of them had nothing planned for New Years Eve?
Louisa didn't say anything as he spoke, making his intentions even more clear, and almost sounding as if no wasn't an option. That or he was just sure she wouldn't say no. Finally, after a few more moments of quiet contemplation she found herself slowly nodding.

Then she was nodding. Freddies soft smile grew back into his huge goofy one and he finally slid his hand from her wrist to take her hand and gave it a squeeze. He said, tugging her toward the Fountain of Fair Fortune. Once inside, he led her to a table and released her hand so she could sit. He wanted to sit beside her, not across from her, but he wasn't sure if she'd deem that appropriate just yet. So he sat across from her.
The place had a lot of people, but he chose a seat where there was the least amount of people. He ordered his drink and some food and let Louisa orders hers before leaning forward a bit. "So, what is a beautiful girl like you doing out and about this fine night?"

Louisa felt almost... shy, when she gave that silent agreement. She wasn't necessarily a shy person, just quiet, so the feeling was unnatural. But she found her own, slight smile respond as his own turned wide with overjoy. And then, with no warning (there was, she just wasn't paying attention) he took her hand. If she were anyone else, without a good grip on her emotions, she might have gasped at the sudden contact, but she did feel the slightest of.... flutters. Neither of them said anything as he pulled her inside the pub they'd been standing outside, obviously his initial destination. While the contact wasn't long, and soon he let go of her hand so they could both sit down, it had been nice... The table of course was in the least busy portion, which was good. At least there was less chance of Louisa being over talked. That was always the problem when going out somewhere with her, the background noise would often times be louder than her.
Was this a date? It'd been a long time since Louisa had gone on one. Or even had time for one if she was being honest! Just the two of them, having dinner... With her husband. Neither of them had dared to talk about the subject at all. Probably because neither of them really knew what to say, or do. So, avoiding that subject they both ordered, and then... were left to have small talk while they waited. Frederick, of course, was the one to break the silence. Slowly Louisa smiled. "Nothing really, if I'm being honest. Just getting something from the sweets shop to send to Daniel and my parents." Of course Frederick knew Daniel. That was an entirely different subject. "What about you? Were you.... meeting with anyone?" She'd already decided that he hadn't had any plans, but at the same time that was hard to believe. He was so social and outspoken, how could he not have any plans tonight?

She smiled, just a bit, before she spoke. She said she was just getting some sweets for her family, claiming that was nothing really. She asked what he was doing there, if he was meeting anyone. He chuckled, shaking. He could hear her, but it did take a little strain. He decided that he would move to sit on the same side of the table as her, just not yet.
"Well, my best mate is busy tonight and my staff was kind enough to let me loose," he grinned, "so I was just taking my bike out, looking for something to do," he almost said 'maybe some part of me was looking for you', but he didn't. "I'm sure your family would be very grateful for the treats. It's a nice thought," he said with a gentle nod. "I do hope Daniel doesn't dislike me too much," he half teased, but he really did hope that it wouldn't be an issue. The entire night of that concert Dan never really did seem to warm up entirely.

Bike? That was a little surprising, but only because Louisa had thought it too cold out. But, plenty of people biked in winter. But she smiled a bit more as he explained how he'd basically been 'set loose' on the night. "And they didn't give you anything to do?" She asked, the slightest of teasing tones to her voice. Normally Louisa wouldn't have the night off, but they hadn't scheduled a performance for the night. The Russian ballet was in town and would be borrowing the theater for the night. "I think so too." she answered as he mentioned her family appreciating it. And then...Dan.
Oh, Daniel. Louisa let out a sigh at the thought. Her little brother had acted so defensive that night. It was almost shocking, since Louisa felt like she was the one always being protective him, not the other way. "Daniel was having a difficult night... It wasn't anything personal."

Freddie shook his head, "I know. I'm lost, listless," he mused dramatically, chuckling at the end. "But, alas, I am blessed," he said, gesturing to her.
She agreed that her family would like the sweets. Then came that sigh, at his question about Daniel. She said it wasn't anything personal and Freddie nodded, "I suppose. Granted, you are his big sister. So, I can understand his caution. My little sister is just the same-" he paused, realizing yet another thing she didn't know about him. "She's back in Japan with my parents. Oh lord," he said, "I've got a lot to tell you, don't I?" that was when their drinks arrived and Freddie stood, taking his and crossing around the table to sit beside her instead of across.
"This will be much easier. I was adopted when I was twelve by a couple in Japan. So, I went to school there. Almost ten years later, they had a daughter, my sister," he grinned, reaching into his pocket to pull out his wallet. He opened it, revealing the picture of him with his parents and sister, "see?"

It was a little dramatic, but it made Louisa laugh silently with her eyes. Blessed? She wouldn't consider her that special, but she wouldn't correct him. He was a major flirt, why should she try to stop it?
"I suppose so, usually I am the protective one. Having it the other way is... unusual." tonsee her brother in a situation where he felt the need to be protective. And just from Frederick's emotions! What had he been feeling to irritate Dan so much..?
Louisa's eyes widened just a bit as he went on to explain his family situation. He'd mentioned before that he'd spent time at the orphanage, but hadn't shared much more than that. But the surprise intensified when he moved to sit beside her instead of across. "Im sorry, for being so quiet." she muttered quietly, trying to think of some explanation for his moving. But it didn't matter. She didn't mind, and it gave her the opportunity to lean just a little closer as he pulled out the picture, as if to get a better look. "Your sister is lovely. You all look so happy."

He nodded as she explained that it was strange being the one being protected, rather than the other way around. "Awe, I see. Yes, that was a strange transition for me, as well. But that happened when we were very, very young," he admitted. "Plus, we didn't see a lot of each other in person, so. It is quite different," he explained. He shrugged, "this must just be new to Dan. His sister having a... this," he said, clearing his throat afterward awkwardly.
She said she was sorry for being quiet, and he shook his head, not wanting her to even worry about that sort of thing. She leaned forward as he showed the picture, and he instinctively moved his arm out of her way and rested it on the back of her chair. "Thank you. Yes, we're quite happy," he said. He didn't put the picture away yet... partly afraid that she would move away if he did.
He opened his mouth to speak, but then the food arrived. The waitress simply smiled at Freddie having moved and placed the food in front of them. "Awe, well, eating," he said softly. Luckily, his dominant arm was the one not behind her chair, so he lifted his fork after setting his wallet aside on the table. "And don't worry about the volume, love. People are too loud anyway, myself included," he chuckled.

This. That was what Frederick called... well the situation. Them being married still. Frederick being her husband. "A this?" she raised an eyebrow. It was more than a 'This'.
Louisa saw his arm move , and then disappear from the corner of her eyes. She knew where It'd gone though, the back of her chair. Should she... lean back? Stay where she was? Well, the decision was made for her as their food was brought out, forcing her to lean back into her chair. She could feel his arm ever so lightly brush against her shoulders. "I don't think you're too loud." she found herself saying before she even realized it. Immediately she felt a ping of embarrassment and lifted her drink to take a sip, to try and cover her embarrassment.

A this? she asked. Was she really going to make him say it? He took a breath and nodded, "yes, this," he repeated.
She leaned back as the food came and her felt her back gently touch his arm. He waited a second, as she spoke about him not being too loud, before gently turning his arm so his hand could rest against her back lightly. "Why, thank you, my dear!" he exclaimed with a little chuckle, reaching for his own drink and taking a sip as well. He lifted his fork to his food, too, taking a few bites before speaking again.
"As for the this issue, are we wanting to discuss the status of this?" okay, okay, he was kind of having fun saying 'this' a lot.
