@rory she moved over to the table with him and dropped down onto one of the comfortable chairs. without thinking, she pulled her legs up onto the chair with her so she could sit crossed legged. it was how she often sat in chairs at home and sometimes old habits died hard. "So, what should I know about you other than the fact you love dragons?" she took a scoop of ice cream in the spoon and stuck it in her mouth for a moment while she deliberated an answer. what was there to tell? everyone often wanted to know about different parts of her. she thought about it and she wasn't really all that interesting. sure she had traveled but other than that it was a pretty boring life. she had gone to school, sure she had flirted and kissed her way through her school years but she hadn't had much time after that to do anything huge other than travel a few countries and pose for a camera. she took the spoon out of her mouth and scooped it into the watermelon. "i'm not sure, what would you like to know?" she asked with a soft laugh. "ask me anything and i'll answer." she said with a smile as she put the spoon back into her mouth and waited for him to respond.

Rory laughed when she said that she didn't know what to tell him and invited him to ask questions. Well that left everything wide open! Not that Rory couldn't think of questions, it was just a different thing that she didn't already have things ready to say. Most people really enjoyed talking, especially about themselves. Maybe he just needed to get her started. "Umm ... so what brings you here to Diagon Alley? And what do you like to do in your spare time, that doesn't have to do with dragons?" Rory paused in his questions to lick his ice cream again. it wasn't very refined, but he didn't really care about that. Also, he wasn't going to answer his own questions unless she asked him to. He'd rather get to know others than talk about himself.

@rory "Umm ... so what brings you here to Diagon Alley? And what do you like to do in your spare time, that doesn't have to do with dragons?" she thought about it for a moment. there were lots of things she liked doing but it wasn't like she always did them. well not really. in between life and work there wasn't often enough time to do the things she enjoyed, well that was the theory on why she could never answer the questions. "i like to do lots of things. go dancing, i love the beach, and i like having my photo taken and plenty of other things but we'll be here all day if i mention them." she said with a laugh as she scooped the spoon into the ice cream. she didn't add that she was a model too, it shouldn't matter whether she was. she liked to have her photo taken, she'd liked it since she was a kid. she had no qualms about people thinking she was vain because she couldn't deny there was a streak of it in her. "how about you? what do you do when you aren't saving people or offering damsels help in diagon alley?" she asked with a smile.

Rory smiled at the girl's comments. Apparently she was pretty versatile, which was cool. He'd never really been to the beach (though he'd seen it before), but he liked dancing. He didn't do it much, but when he did he enjoyed himself. "Well those are all good things. They seem mostly like summer things though. Do you have a favorite activity in the winter?" He shrugged and chuckled when she asked the question back at him. "I like children a lot. I volunteer at an orphanage quite a bit. I also like gardening and traveling, but I don't get much time to do either." Not most of the time, but one of these days he was going to take some time off and really travel for fun. Though he really didn't know when. Still, plans were plans and that was what he wanted to do.

@rory "Well those are all good things. They seem mostly like summer things though. Do you have a favorite activity in the winter?" she laughed and dug her spoon into the ice cream again. she had to admit they were too. though she was still in summer mode and getting back into the swing of the cold. "does drinking hot tea count as a hobby?" she asked as she ate the bit of ice cream on her spoon. she actually didn't mind going to the beach in winter, provided it wasn't snowing and it wasn't below freezing. "I like children a lot. I volunteer at an orphanage quite a bit. I also like gardening and traveling, but I don't get much time to do either." those were all good things. though she didn't think she would enjoy gardening a whole lot. she was outdoorsy but she wouldn't go as far to say she'd enjoy gardening. "well why don't you make a garden at the orphanage?" she suggested, getting the last spoon of her treat from the bowl. "i'm pretty sure the kids would love it. any chance to get dirty." she said with a laugh. "plus i think muggles do these .... sensory gardens? with plants children can touch and smell and taste that wont' hurt them. i saw one at a playground when i was in america." as much as muggles thought they had dangerous plants, there were more dangerous ones in the wizarding world.

Rory laughed when Harper asked if drinking tea counted as a hobby. "If you do it often enough and like it enough, I'm sure it would be. Is it?" His voice was teasing, but he was sure she wouldn't mind. Harper seemed to have a playful spirit. He perked up at her idea of making a garden at the orphanage. "That's a great idea!" He enthused, thinking of the possibilities. "How have I never thought of that before?" Really though, he should have started that years ago and taught the children how to garden. It was a good skill to have. "I'll have to wait until the snow melts, but that would be great and you're right, the kids would love it." His head cocked to the side at her mention of sensory gardens. "I haven't heard of those, but I'll look into it. That definitely sounds interesting. Thank you for the ideas." They were perfect and Rory was sure that Freddie would approve.
