Work had been absolutely insane for Eleanor Percival; just twenty four hours ago, she was with Cyrus in Paris without a care in the world. But today she had to work. The Second Task seemed to be coming up a lot quicker now on this side of Christmas, even though it was just January 3rd a mere two days after the New Year. Eleanor had arrived before seven thirty to her office, a bagel in one hand, a black coffee in the other. Now it was almost seven o'clock in the evening; she'd been in meetings and filling out paperwork for the proper permits to be finalized for what was needed for the Second Task. To make matters worse, it had only been herself and Nate in the office too - now that had been incredibly awkward. Ella had tried to keep to herself, but she'd felt Nate's eyes on her on more than one occasion. Finally, she left work; she'd made sure to leave over a half hour after Nate so they wouldn't run into each other. Ella was in need of a drink; she remembered which bars Nate had usually frequented for a happy hour, and ensured to avoid them. She made her way into one that was a bit higher class than she and her friends usually would frequent, but she felt that she deserved that kind of night. So she hopped up on a seat and ordered a martini. She sipped it slowly, casutally surveying the scene in front of her. She wondered how many wizards even frequented Muggle bars; Nate was a pureblood and he definitely did at least. mina pandora oliveira

@eleanor Finally she was done with work. The last hour in the bookstore had felt like an eternity, especially dealing with the young woman that had come in with her toddler. The little devil screamed its head off all twenty minutes they were in there. Mina surprisingly liked children, but that had been her limit for the day. Family and friend’s kids aside, she was pretty sure she was about five minutes away from hexing the kids mouth shut. Thankfully the promise of having a job to come back to the next day was enough to keep her hand only tightly wrapped around her wand, in which she used it to immediately lock the front entrance the second they stepped out of the shop. She wasn’t even hungover today and yet the shrill screams of the child were earsplitting, causing a headache in an instant. She needed a drink.
The best part about being out almost every night of the week for an hour or two was that Mina knew of all the best muggle bars. The ones where it was quiet, where alcohol was slightly cheaper, or which one had the best mixed drinks (which was usually accompanied by a hot bartender or two). Tonight didn’t matter though, because all she needed was something alcoholic to get rid of the headache. Popping out into the muggle side of London, she made her way through the streets, eventually seeing a place that seemed alright. A little upscale for her liking, and it was apparent from the second she stepped inside that so was the crowd. Wearing something casual in this place was like sticking out like a sore thumb. Not really caring about it though, Mina made a bee-line to the bar, sitting down next to a woman and quickly ordering something with a hefty amount of tequila in it. She supposed it was a margarita of sorts, and while that wasn’t her cup of tea, it was a good way to pound back a few quickly.
Putting down the first drink, Mina motioned for the bartender, “I think I’ll need another, if it’s not too much to ask.” She smiled at him. The bar wasn’t packed, but she knew how to get her drinks faster than others. Didn’t really take that much effort. Tapping her fingers on the bar a few times, she turned to face the woman next to her, “Work bring you here too?”

Eleanor glanced over at the girl who took a seat beside her; she didn't mind really, the bar was decently crowded but not so loud that she couldn't hear a conversation if one were to happen. She looked back at her drink and took another large sip. The girl ordered a margarita, and Ella couldn't help but watch how fast she knocked that drink back. Merlin, if she thought her day at work was rough she couldn't imagine what that girl must have gone through. "You could say that," Ella responded when the other girl asked if work brought her here too. She finished the last swallow of her martini and signalled for another one herself. "Then again, when you have to work on a project with your ex-boyfriend who proposed the night you dumped him, it can drive anyone to drink," she said wryly. She thanks the bartender for her drink and toasted the woman. "Cheers to jobs that pay," she toasted, taking another sip. She studied the girl for a few minutes; there was something rather familiar about her, but due to the Statute of Secrecy, Ella couldn't very well just come out and ask if she went to Hogwarts. She was part of the Ministry, and it would be rather bad if she had to call an Obliviator to wipe the girls mind after she'd been forgetful of the statute. "Do I know you from somewhere? You look familiar," she asked her curiously, tilting her head to one side. Then she realized something, and gave a soft laugh. "Sorry, I didn't give you my name. Ella Percival," she introduced herself. mina pandora oliveira

@eleanor Mina wasn’t exactly surprised that the woman next to her was there for the exact same reason. Didn’t take a genius to figure that out, which she most certainly was not. While it seemed most of the other bar patrons here were in small groups of coworkers, there were still quite a few alone, Mina and the other woman included. A small conversation wasn’t going to kill her anyways, so with her second drink in tow, she turned around to face her new friend. Mina’s eyes widened as the other woman explained how she was working on a project with an ex. Yikes. That’s why Mina kept it to simple one-night stands where they most likely would never remember or see her again. Sometimes a little extra ‘magic’ was necessary to make that possible, not that it ever hurt anyone. “I’ll take the screaming children and gross old guys any day over that.” She raised her drink up to the woman’s for the toast. “Cheers.”
Putting back another significant gulp, Mina didn’t immediately spot that she was being studied. Drinks were more important right now anyway. She was asked if she was known from somewhere, and she slightly fumbled her glass. Had she slept with this woman before too? That was usually how those kinds of conversations started. The fact that she ‘looked familiar’ didn’t help either. “I’d highly doubt we have. I uh…kind of have a different lifestyle than most people do.” Trying not to be rude for once in her life, Mina was going to say her goodbyes, knock back the rest of her drink, and then simply leave upon paying for it. But then the lady introduced herself before she could make her great escape. Ella. Doing introductions meant that she had to stay longer now. “Mina Wulfe.” Humoring her a little longer probably wouldn’t kill her.

Eleanor chuckled as the girl admitted she would take screaming children over her plight. She couldn't blame her; who would actually want to work alongside your scorned ex? The way he looked at her, it was as if her happiness was a sign of treason towards him. How dare she, Eleanor Percival, find happiness when Nate was heartbroken? Still, Ella loved her job and was never one to back down from a fight. Especially when it came to her own happiness. She raised her eyebrow when Mina said they likely led a different lifestyle; were her senses deceiving her or was the girl not just talking about their beverage consuming habits? Mina Wulfe. Ah, that was why she looked so familiar. "Ah, you're a Wulfe," Ella said, recognizing the name and inclining her head towards the younger girl. She took another sip of her drink and smirked a little. "Your sister and I...we had a bit of a rivalrly when we were at school together," she said with a wry chuckle. That was putting it lightly; Callisto and Eleanor had both been Ravenclaws in the same year and had been competitive in all their courses. She had once accused the girl of having a "thing" for Cyrus, but that had been the jealous musings of a fifteen year old and not founded on anything substantial. "How is your dear sister nowadays?" she asked Mina, taking a sip of her drink. mina pandora oliveira

@eleanor Or maybe it would. This woman, Ella was it? She recognized the last name. Judging by how she had described her work thingy earlier on, that meant Ministry probably. Mina could really think of any other jobs in their world that would focus heavily on projects and sorts. While that train of thought might have been true, Ella continued talking, explaining that she had a rivalry with Callisto while in school. Ravenclaws had a sick obsession with that, Mina having not only witnessed it her whole life, but it continuing still while she lived with her sister. She wasn’t much competition herself though, which probably disappointed Callisto to some degree. It showed on her face when she came back from work though, usually indicating that there had been some kind of intense workshop concerning whatever it was that her sister did these days. “Now you know my pain of living with her for the last twenty years.” She took another long sip of her drink, rolling her eyes at the thought of Callisto right now. Sometimes she was the trigger of these annoyance headaches that drove Mina to drink.
“She’s good.” Mina answered upon placing her drink back down. “Doing something concerning the tournament and working at the hospital part-time. Rest of her time is spent keeping me in line I guess.” She shrugged, turning her gaze to the various bottles of alcohol that lined the back of the bar. Lately she had been granted more leniency to do what she wanted. That made it sound like Callisto had a leash on her all the time, and while Mina was always free to do whatever she wanted whenever, it was even more so lately. Ministry work was probably draining her poor sister. “So what is it you do now? School help out as much as it was supposed to? Can’t say it did for me.” Not that school had ever been a priority for Mina in the first place.

Eleanor couldn’t help but chuckle at Mina’s comment about living with her sister. Callisto was certainly her biggest competition while at school and it didn’t shock her that she continued that competitive nature with her siblings. If she wasn’t mistaken there were at least six Wulfes; Dakota was Cyrus’ Quidditch Captain, then there was the one that was expelled...what was her name. Then Callisto and Mina, followed by the two youngest that were still at Hogwarts. “My brother does not...have the same abilities that I do, so we were mercifully spared that kind of competition,” she told Mina discreetly. She didn’t really know if her brother would technically be considered a Squib since both of their parents were Muggles, but he did not exhibit magical abilities and she had. Surprisingly, her brother had not felt any sort of jealousy, but he was seven years older than her and at eighteen he was the star football player for his schools team and had an impeccable academic record, so he had really felt no need to be envious of Eleanors new life. Quite the contrary, he was fascinated by it. Ella was thankful for her close relationship with her brother, and had been immensely relieved to not have her magical abilities break that apart. Ella nodded as Mina mentioned Callisto was working with the Tournament; it made sense since she was in the Department of International Magic Cooperation. “I’m in the Department of Games and Sports, so we’re working on the Tournament as well, just a different side of it. I help with the contracts of what we have to bring in for the Tournament, and then send them to our Minister as well as the Ministers from the other schools countries.” Ella deliberately left out the word ‘magical’ to not attract attention of prying ears. The people around them didn’t need to know everything. She frowned a little though at Mina’s last comment. “What is it you do?” she asked curiously. mina pandora oliveira

@eleanor Her brother didn’t have the same abilities? It took a second for the pieces of the puzzle to come together with that one. He was a muggle. Then it made sense. She was so used to the big magic family thing, that the fact that there were families with only one magical child completely went over her head. “Must have been an interesting upbringing then. Was he never jealous of you? Things could get competitive with us…guess that’s why we act out as much as we do sometimes. Aside from Callisto, since she lives to work.” That and Koda and Sarah were wolves, so they kind of had a wild nature to them from the get-go. Kind of came with the blood and all that. Obviously seeing that was better than being like Callisto, Mina followed their lead, and now she was where she was. She couldn’t complain. It was still fun making it from paycheck to paycheck and doing whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted.
Games and sports then. That actually sounded like an interesting job. That meant Ella dealt with Quidditch as well, right? If only she had tried harder in school, maybe she could be in the same position. A respectable job definitely brought in the brownie points, but working in a bookstore also made it easy to explain to her muggle friends, since they wouldn’t know what the hell the Ministry was. “Sounds like a lot of paperwork. Callie said everything went well with the first task, so that must mean the higher ups are happy.” Mina had to take another sip of her drink before returning to the final question. “I’m a cashier. At Flourish and Blotts. Elegant position, if I may say so myself. At least I graduated, unlike Sarah.” Mina rolled her eyes at the thought of her older sister getting expelled. She was an idiot sometimes. And now she was a stripper or something.

Eleanor shook her head as Mina asked if things got jealous and competitive between her and her brother. "My brother was the star athlete and homecoming King at his prep school, he didn't need to be jealous of me. He's interested in our sport at least though, and now with my boyfriend on the Arrows we can go to as many games as we want," she said, sounding a little proud at the end there. Ella had snuck a few Arrows games in when she and Cyrus were apart, but she'd never admit that out loud. She had gone alone to them, wearing a headscarf and sunglasses so he wouldn't notice she was there in the stands, and had to keep her cheering to a crowd-like normal. Now that they were back together? She'd be the Keepers number one fan. "Your brothers the Captain right?" she said, suddenly remembering Dakota Wulfe. Koda had been two years older than Ella at school, and in Hufflepuff. She'd been too busy cheering for Cyrus at any games the eldest Wulfe might have been playing in though.
"I remember your other sister too, and when she got expelled. Not pretty," Ella admitted, taking another sip of her drink. She listened as Mina explained she was a cashier a Flourish and Blotts. "It's not such a bad thing, Diagon Alley certainly has some interesting happenings from time to time," she said reasonably. "If it's okay by you, I don't really want to talk about work tonight," she added sheepishly.

@eleanor Mina nodded her head as Ella explained that her brother didn’t have a need to be jealous because of the things he accomplished on his own. Definitely seemed like the successful sort of guy. Mina couldn’t really claim to be like that in any way, shape, or form. Unless it was knocking back drinks, in which she liked to think she had a considerable tolerance for as of late. Speaking of which, she had managed to finish drink number two and the bar tender had already replaced it with a third. Must have realized she was in for the long haul at this point. This one was going to go a little slower than the first two, because she was finally having a decent conversation with someone that wasn’t a stay at home mother or a dusty old wizard. Taking a small sip of the newest drink, she lifted her eyes up to look at Ella as she mentioned that her boyfriend was now on the team. “Wait, you mean Cyrus? He’s your boyfriend?” Running Dakoda’s official fan club and practically stalking every outcome of the Arrows’ games meant she was privy to knowing when new teammates joined. It just so happened that Cyrus was also in Slytherin when she had been, albeit a few years older. “I used to annoy him all the time in school. At least I think I did. I actively tried to, is what I’m trying to say, so I guess you’ll have to ask him if I actually managed to pull it off.”
The conversation about Sarah continued on as well, especially about her expulsion. If that wasn’t pretty, than neither was her sudden return and the addition of Sebastian to the family. As much as everyone loved the boy, it had still been a shock to her, almost as much as Koda and Ophelia having a child. That alone still elicited a sickening feeling in her stomach, resulting in the need for another large sip of her drink. “Sarah isn’t exactly known for making the best choices.” Mina paused, realizing that the same could be applied to her as well. “Diagon Alley gets old after a while though. But I agree, no work talk right now. This,” she motioned around the bar with her hands, “is to forget all of that for a little bit. Merlin knows we all need that sometimes.” Sometimes being always for Mina.

Eleanor couldn't help but beam a little as Mina correctly guessed the Quidditch player who currently held her heart. "Yup, Cyrus is the one," she told her, meaning it in more way than one. "We were together for almost four years at school, from the beginning of fourth year on. Then when he went to play...his sport, and I joined the Ministry we decided to part ways, but we ended up finding our way back to each other in the end," she told her, then giggled. "Sorry, I know I am babbling a little bit but it sot of feels like a new relationship all over again," she said. She turned back to her martini and took another sip.
She looked back over as she turned back to Mina, watching her down the drink. "For the record, Cyrus did mention you being annoying once or twice, if that makes you feel better," she said with a small laugh. She did remember very vaguely once Cyrus mentioning it, but Mina seemed to take pride in the annoyance factor, so she'd give her that little bone at least. She listened as the younger woman told her about Sarah. "If my ex boyfriend Nate is any indication, we all make mistakes sometimes. That's what makes us human," she reasoned with a little half shrug. She chuckled a little at Mina's final comment and toasted the woman. "I'll drink to that though," she toasted, smiling. She took another sip of her martini. "So what about you? Any guy in your crosshairs? Or girl you know, if you're into that," she asked her. "Sorry, I know it' a bit forward but being a Ravenclaw has the natural perk of being curious all the time," she added a bit sheepishly.

@eleanor Mina celebrated her victory in guessing the right person correctly. She still had her wits about her, despite knocking back those drinks as fast as she did, and on an almost empty stomach at that. Exhaustion, lack of food, and alcohol always got the better of her. She nodded as Ella talked about her relationship with the Quidditch player, and how they were together in school, and then not for a little while after, until recently. “Quite the whirlwind romance then! It explains why he always rejected my advances. Wonder why he didn’t just tell me…” Mina thought about that one a little longer, unsure of how to continue without making it sound like she had been madly in love with Cyrus. “But I was like that with everyone, so who knows, right?” She laughed, taking a sip of her new drink to try and cut any awkwardness that she may have just created. Hopefully Eleanor didn’t think of it the same way.
“Well, at least I’m not forgettable. Callisto kind of is, but she brought that upon herself.” Mina shrugged, thinking how funny it was that her older sister was always going on about how she had to remind people who she was. Just because she was in the Ministry now didn’t mean that every living soul would remember her name. If anything, Mina was in the better position for that. Everyone shopped at Flourish and Blotts for books, and she headed the almighty cash register there. She was bound to be a memorable face. “You’re not wrong on that one,” Mina admitted. She had definitely made mistakes in the past, like completely flopping with her studies. She reaped what she sow though, and working at the book store was her penitence. It didn’t matter that she had sought as much help as possible with her education, because it simply didn’t work for her. School apparently wasn’t made for everyone.
Toasting her drink as well, Mina took a much smaller sip than the last few. This one needed to last a little longer or she was going to go downhill really fast tonight. As she finished swallowing, she tried to hold back a laugh, but to no avail. “If only. Committing myself to one person would probably scare my family. They were just as surprised as I was that I could adjust to normal working life.” That sounded awful when put into words. “I have my dog, and that’s all I need. They don’t exactly trust me with much else, and I still haven’t given them a reason to yet. Plus I really don’t feel the need to settle down yet. I’m not done having fun on my own and living my life.” And that was exactly why her family didn’t trust her in the first place. She’d figure it all out eventually. Maybe.

Eleanor couldn't help but laugh a little at Mina's comment; if they were still in school and Mina talked about her advances on Cyrus, things would probably have gone drastically different. It would probably involve some type of scheme to ensure that Mina recognized who Cyrus was dating. But since getting back together, Ella felt completely safe, satisfied and secure; the idea of Cyrus getting female attention actually flattered her. "I do have good taste, don't I?" she said, beaming brightly as she took another sip of her drink. "But yes, sadly I snagged that beautiful man pretty early in life. There was a brief break but now...now it's feeling pretty solid," she said, not helping herself by smiling again. The subject hadn't come up quite yet; sure they had four years of relationship experience under their belts but they weren't about to get married and have kids right away. They were only twenty-two after all; they had all the time in the world to live the rest of their lives. At the Callisto quip, Eleanor couldn't help but laugh. "Your sister and I were pretty big rivals growing up, both academically and socially," she told the other girl. It was funny, both she and Calisto worked in the Ministry now, in different departments but both with the Triwizard Tournament. "It's strange; we work together now when back at school we'd be fighting for the top spot in everything." Eleanor shrugged and took another sip. "Guess people grow up sometimes," she commented, stirring the olives on the stick in the drink before biting off one of them. She turned back towards Mina. "What about you? Got anyone special in your life?" she asked her, eyebrow raised. mina pandora oliveira

@eleanor Mina was still wondering why Cyrus never told her to leave him alone while in school. Obviously it had to have gotten annoying at some point. It wasn’t like she was stupid and wouldn’t back off with a simple no, or an explanation that he already had a girlfriend. The fact that it never happened meant, at least to her, that he was fair game or enjoyed the attention. Who was she kidding, of course he enjoyed the attention. He was a professional Quidditch player now. What kind of athlete would he be if he didn’t enjoy some kind of attention from others? She knew how all of that worked because of Koda, so it wasn’t like it was some kind of information privy only to those in the loop. Sure there were those that played for the love of the sport, yada-yada, but most did it for the cheering and their fans, and the ability to entertain them. Or the money. She would do it for the money. “Seeing how he turned out, I’ll give you that one. Definitely a good catch.”
She could feel her eyes physically widen at Eleanor’s mention of Callisto being social. Her sister, the one that would rather work to death than have fun, had a social life somewhere in all of that? Surely they knew different Callistos that happened to both be Ravenclaws and in the same year while in school. There was no way. “Could you elaborate on my sister’s social life? Last I checked it was nonexistent,” Mina took a sip of her drink. “And it has always been like that.” There might have been that weird glitch in the matrix with the schoolboy sending her letters around the New Year, but that was pretty much said and done with now. At least she thought it was. Hopefully Callisto’s social life didn’t revolve around work and leading on schoolboys. There was something seriously wrong with that picture. “Me? Having someone special?” Mina laughed, maybe a little too loud, but at least it was a genuine one. “No, no that won’t happen. I think I scare them all off after one or two dates.” She made sure to follow that up with another swig from her glass. “And I’m not a big fan of commitment anyways. Kind of loses its meaning when you get burned too many times. Or do too much burning,” she shrugged. That was a scarily accurate depiction of her life over the last few years.

Eleanor smiled and laughed a little at Mina’s agreement with a good catch in Cyrus. “We just got back from a vacation in Paris since the Arrows had a break in their schedule. It was…..amazing and romantic. I didn’t want to come back,” she said dreamily, sighing a little. “But, work calls, the Second Task of the Triwizard Tournament won't’ plan itself, though that’d be nice,” she added. Or it would be nice if Nate wasn’t a part of the planning, but that was an entirely different manner in itself. He seemed...different lately. Hostile still, but there were times where she caught him staring out into space, or wincing whenever people bumped into him. If she didn’t think she’d get a nasty response, she’d ask him what was wrong . “Have you ever dated anyone even just for a short while, then after you break up their personality does a complete 180?” she asked; perhaps Mina would have some insight into this. Having only dated Cyrus aside from Nate, and HIS personality never really changed, she didn’t know if this was something normal or not. Eleanor looked at Mina, then let out another giggle before taking another sip of her drink. “Well Callisto had SOMEWHAT of a social life, but it didn’t help that my best friend was a fellow Ravenclaw in our year, and since we were rivals she tended to avoid our dormitory,” she said sheepishly. Now at twenty-two the rivalry felt a bit silly, but she could just be blinded by her ‘honeymoon phase’ with Cyrus, making every conflict she ever had seem silly and childish. Her smile faded slightly as Mina described her dating life, or apparently, a lack of one. “I suppose it’s not for everyone. I know my best friend isn’t ready to be tied down to any one person just yet either. She’s opening a new boutique in Hogsmeade,” Ella told her, a hint of pride in her voice at Celia’s accomplishment. Ella knew Celia had been talented, but she was immensely proud of the second boutique opening, especially since it meant she got to be in the United Kingdom more. The bartender asked if she wanted another and Ella shook her head, requesting the check. “I should probably be off, I need some dinner and...a lot of water if I’m to function properly at work tomorrow,” she said with a chuckle.
