@maria <3 The girl frowned. Samuel scowled. It was a good old time. But it didn't stop after that. No, of course not. "You didn't say I would, but that's what you were hinting at. Saying you'd have a bad reputation. By who? Me? Those kisses didn't have any feeling behind them, Maria." Maybe that was a little harsh, but what did she expect him to say? "You're pretty much a child to me." The more he thought about it, and the more the two of them were together, he supposed she wasn't such a child. She wasn't eleven, and he wasn't forty. There was somewhat of an age gap, close enough for him to consider her a friend. "Did you send me here just to kiss me?"

He had a point. With who was this bad reputation supposed to come from? He was a decent guy so he wouldn't tell people. And she wasn't the type to tell people she'd done a poor job kissing someone. Maria had no answer for him. No possible explanation. So, she chose to say nothing and just looked away.
Of course Samuel still considered her a child. It didn't matter how old she was, he'd refuse to acknowledge her maturity. "Why? You can't say it's because I'm underage. I'm not. So you better come up with a better reason for refusing to admit I'm an adult." That was probably the most Maria comment she'd made all day, just a touch of her usual bite to her words but not nearly as much as usual.
As for if kissing him had been her intention... "No." she admitted, honest. She stepped away from him completely then and moved back to that spot under the tree, slowly sitting down there and refusing to look at him. "I wanted you here because... I wanted to see you." Why was it hard do admit she wanted to see someone? Someone she acknowledged as a friend.

@maria <3 Her silence was enough of an answer for him. Maybe that's how she felt but with no true reason behind it. Which was fine, but she just needed to say that. He was Samuel, he liked the truth. But no matter, if she had nothing more to say than neither did she. Except he was still confused as to what the kiss meant.
"Because you're almost ten years younger than I, Maria. We've gone over this already." Samuel sighed dramatically and watched as she walked back over to the tree she had been at before. Maria kept her eyes on the village this time instead of on him and sat down to the floor. Her words were more honest this time, even though they sounded like she didn't want to say them. Samuel's eyes narrowed and he put his hands in the warmth of his front sweater pocket. He walked closer to her, and after staring for a few moments sat down beside her on the tree. "I didn't think you'd want to see me."

Being eight years older then her was hardly a reason. "So? That doesn't make me any less of an adult. You're ten years younger then plenty of people. Do they call you a child?" All it did was make her younger. Still an adult though. And considering her life, things he knew about her, you couldn't say she was less experienced. She'd seen more then her fair share of trials and hardships.
Sitting down once more she didn't care if he joined her. His being mad about the kiss was to be expected but it'd put her in a slightly bad mood. As did his comment of saying he didn't think she'd want to see him. Immediately Maria looked at him just to glare. "After what you did for me you didn't think I'd want to see you?" she asked harshly, offended that he'd even doubt that. After a few more seconds of glaring she turned away, to stare at the village once more. "I don't remember everything that happened... when I was hallucinating.... but I remember some things. Flashes. I remember you trying to help. Samuel if you hadn't been there-" She stopped herself. What would have happened if she'd been alone? If she'd been left to sink into those nightmares. She had a nagging feeling that she might not have ever found her way back to sanity.

@maria <3 Well there she was again. Angry and snappy Maria was back and making a performance. He knew that comment always made her angry, but he hadn't called her a child. She's the one who brought up that word first. He only called her young, which technically, she was. And that wasn't always a bad thing. "Some do. Those who are many years older than I. However those who are almost forty do not, they call me young, which is exactly what I called you." Samuel wasn't really in the mood to argue about this same subject anymore. Maria needed to learn to pick her battles with him; his opinions were hard to change.
Samuel's tone had been soft when he spoke, but apparently no matter what he said, he would anger Maria. Which in turn, angered him even more. Her glare had him glaring right back at her. "Yes Maria and that's nothing for you to get angry over! I brought myself there without asking you, seeing you in a state without your permission, and then, kissed you twice without your permission. You may not care, but that's against my morals and if I was in your position I wouldn't have wanted to see me either." He snapped back. Samuel took a deep breath, calming himself and looking at her more gently. This girl always got him riled up in the worst ways. "I did the best I could, Maria. I'm sorry if it wasn't enough. I had no idea what I was doing...so I just spoke. Of anything."

Maria puffed out her cheeks just a little in annoyance as he argued that he hadn't called her a child but instead young. "You meant it as the same thing." At least, she'd heard it as the same thing. Sometimes she did tend to offend a little to fast for her own good, and to interpret things the wrong way.
With a deep breath Maria tried to calm down. She didn't need to be angry right now. His logic was just... in her mind flawed. She'd thanked him for being there! She'd made it clear that she'd needed him there. And yet he still thought she wouldn't want to see him? "Believe me, if I didn't want to see you I wouldn't have sent you that letter to begin with." it was easy to avoid someone when they were working and you were at school. As he practically apologized for not doing more, as if doubting how important had been she looked at him. The look was extremely intense. But not in anger. It was some other emotion, deeper, and very uncharacteristic of her. Even Maria couldn't place emotion this was exactly. "What you did for me was the only thing that kept me from losing my mind. You did more for me then you'll ever know." That intense look never wavered.

@maria <3 Samuel rolled his eyes and scoffed at her. "Oh did I now? You can read my mind Maria?" Samuel chuckled. He couldn't help but shake his head at Maria and her thought process. Maybe he had meant it that way, but maybe he hadn't. Either way, her assumptions amused him.
Samuel shrugged. He knew that if she hadn't wanted to see him she wouldn't have sent the letter. But then again, it was Maria, and he didn't truly know her yet. What he did know was that if she was angry with him, it would've made her feel better to yell at him in person than over an owl; or burn him, whichever she preferred. But what stopped his thoughts was the look she gave him. It was like she was calculating something, or trying to figure him out. But there wasn't anything to figure out. "I'm glad I could do anything to help, Maria." Her gaze never faltered, and neither did his. Samuel felt unusual, but he couldn't out a word to it. His heart sped up slightly, but he was just taking it as nervousness. What it really was, was something Samuel didn't know yet, nor was he expecting it.

Maria almost rolled her eyes in return but stopped herself, just because she didn't want to seem like she was copying him. "You aren't denying it." Was all she had to say. If she'd been wrong, he would have protested. He always liked to correct her when she was wrong.
There were several silent, but heavy moments that followed. Where they just met each other's eyes, never wavering or faltering. Maria was used to this sort of intensity, her life practically revolved around it. But this was a little different then usual. Normally it was, quite obviously, sexual tension. But they didn't have that relationship. At all. Sure, they'd kissed a number times now, but they were only friends. Instead it almost felt like.... peering into his soul, and him peering right now. That realization was what finally made Maria uncomfortable and break her eye contact. She didn't like how much he knew about her. She assumed he'd found out some things while she was busy hallucinating, so that information hadn't really been given freely. But the rest... Even though she'd shared it with him when she was in her right mind didn't mean she liked it. It always made her uncomfortable when people started getting to close. "If I did or said anything while I was hallucinating to..... offend you in anyway... I'm sorry." She finally managed to get out as she kept her gaze down on her hands in her lap. She could still see the faintest of scars left on one wrist from the restraints. While she didn't recall it, she'd fought them hard enough to dig into her skin multiple times during those days, and would now carry a permanent mark of those horrifying days.

@maria <3 "I'm not denying it because I don't have to. Whether you believe me or not doesn't matter to me. I'm telling the truth and that's all." Samuel knew Maria was testing him as always. She had her own ways of doing things and he had his. Samuel knew the truth, and Maria could accept that...or not. Either way, he was okay with her response.
But what he wasn't okay with was her thinking she offended him. What could she have possibly done? Anything she had seen wouldn't have offended him. It made him more concerned than he had been before and really pushed him to try and help her. "You didn't offend me Maria. You didn't do anything wrong. What happened was not your fault... I hope you know that."

Ugh, why did he have to do that? It was so irritating how he could say something that sounded so righteous. There was a reason why she called him 'Santo', or saint in English. "You do like your truth, don't you?" She teased a little. That was the first thing that had really come up between them. He'd been mad that she was hiding from the Hogwarts boy. But he'd found out for himself just why she'd been avoiding the boy not to long after.
Honestly Maria didn't know everything she had said to him during those days. If she had offended him, or said any harsh. It was all a blur. She let out a slow shuddering breath as he answered, that it hadn't been her fault, what happened. Though she hadn't done anything wrong. "No. It was someone else's." She whispered. She didn't know if his sister had told him of the results of the tests. That the hallucinogen she'd come in contact with hadn't been an accident. There was no way she could come in contact with that quantity by chance. But whether it'd been someone that hated Maria and was trying to get back at her, or just a sick prank... That was the mystery. And that infuriated her. Maria hands clasped together in front of her, clenched so tightly that her fingers were turning white. "If I ever get my hands on who did it..." She didn't need to say what she might do. The subtle shakiness in her voice made her anger clear. That person would wish they never even thought to cross her.

@maria <3 Samuel smiled genuinely at Maria. "You know I like my truth. It's important to me!" Honesty is the best policy! That's always what Samuel thought. He never lied; he couldn't. It was something that he despised, a pet peeve you could say. Especially when people were bad liars, that ticked him off more than anything. Samuel always wanted to say something along the lines of, come on I know you're not telling the truth. But instead, he usually let the anger get the best of him and he yelled or caused an argument.
Her whisper was heard by him, and his eyes narrowed slightly. His sister had given him the basic story of what had happened to Maria, but nothing more. It wasn't his job to figure it out, and with what Freya had seen occur between the two of them she didn't really want to tell him which was understood. It might have looked concerning, no matter how many times Samuel told his older sister that they were just friends. Maria was squeezing her hands together and Samuel moved next to her, prying them apart as much as he could. "No, Maria. Someone else will take care of it."

Maria rolled her her at that big smile and confirmation that telling the truth was important to him. She didn't understand why he was so.... good. Sure, Maria didn't lie up a storm. But she didn't hesitate to lie when she felt It was necessary. None the less his enthusiasm about honesty made her smile just a touch and look away from him to hide the gesture. As if to hide the fact that it had made her smile.
Maria had always been an angry person. That happened when you were orphaned at a young age and put into an unstable environment. Her grandparents had never supplied a 'loving' home, and so she'd never had the chance to really learn to control her temper. She was glaring down at her hands when his own entered her field of vision. She didn't fight his grip, letting him pull her death grip on her own hands apart as she looked up at him, still glaring. " They did it to me. I deserve some sort of Justice." she wasn't talking justice. She wanted vengeance.

@maria <3 Maria looked away from him and Samuel couldn't help but chuckle to himself. He couldn't see her face so whether she was embarrassed or just rolling her eyes he wasn't able to tell. She didn't seem to be a big fan of his feelings on the truth, though that wasn't incredibly important to him. At the moment, Maria's honesty or lies wouldn't truly affect him. Yes, he cared for her. Yes, they were friends. But as far as he could tell, there wasn't much she could lie about that would hurt him.
Her glare towards him didn't affect Samuel. Except he didn't consider it a glare towards him per se, just the entire situation. Someone had intentionally hurt Maria, they knowingly did something to make sure she was in pain. Samuel would be just as angry, and want just as much revenge as Maria did. However, she needed to relax. What she really needed was rest and to just be calm. Having all of this extra stress wouldn't be healthy for her, and Samuel was fairly sure she knew it as well. "I know what they did, Maria. I know it's not fair. I know you suffered. But you need to put yourself first. Someone else will deal with whoever did this. You need to realize that." His grip was firm on her hands - not enough to hurt her, but enough to keep her attention.

Maria's eyes didn't soften at his words. That burning look, as if they might scorch anyone that got to close remained, intensely trained on Samuel's own gaze. She was thinking about herself. She wanted revenge for herself. Not anyone else. But that hasn't been what he meant and she knew it. Maria was compared to a forest fire for a reason. Her emotions were wild and intense. Completely out of control and overwhelmingly destructive at times. It was her biggest flaw. Because, like he was concerned about it meant she didn't relax. She boiled and burned and exploded, never going out or settling down into the warm glow that could be constructive. To make it even worse she had such a serious distrust in people that letting someone else handle this.... "And what if they don't..?" she whispered, though the embers of her rage could still be heard. "What if they get away with it? What if they let them off? What if they don't even try to find the culprit?" That had to be Maria's biggest problem. Her mistrust in people so intense that she honestly believed that she couldn't rely on them. Why she trusted Samuel enough to voice any of these concerns... well that had to be a serious concern in itself. At least to her. She wasn't use to trusting people.

@maria <3 Maria didn't change her expression. Samuel wasn't sure why he thought she may; the fire girl was angry, he knew that. And she wasn't going to change it. Maria had already set up a plan in her head, one that wasn't the best, but one Samuel knew was going to happen anyways. This girl didn't just shoot fire out of her hands, but when she set up a plan or a goal, she followed through with it. Whether that was bad or not, he wasn't sure yet. "Why wouldn't they? Maria, the Ministry is already working on it. And I'm sure more than just them are as well. The amount of 'groups' they had among the wizarding world was shocking, and if someone who cared for Maria deeply was apart of one, Samuel knew that the person who did this to her would have it coming to them. "Trust me, please. They won't let this person off."
