Maria asked them what they saw, and Viola smiled thinly. That was a dangerous question, because Viola saw a lot. They saw everything from the superficial to the core, from the good to the bad and everything in between. “I see you.” They said, because that was the simplest way to answer the question without getting into territory Maria would find uncomfortable. “I think you know what that means.” Maria had to know that Viola knew the most intimate parts of her, didn’t she? For all of their lack of physical contact with their girlfriend, Viola could confidently say that they had seen more of Maria than anyone else in the world had.
“You’ve never been one to follow convention.” Viola said with a shrug. If there was anyone who could maintain a political career while also being a serial arsonist, it was their girlfriend. Viola was slightly pleased that Maria didn’t want to get into politics, though – it meant that they weren’t going to be plagued by political debates for the rest of their life.

That answer made Maria feel.. warm. In deep in her chest. It was an odd but almost comfortable feeling. Slowly she sat up, crossing her legs Indian style as she just stared at Viola. As if looking for some sort of explanation but finding only truth behind Viola's words.
Maria didn't feel like many people saw 'her'. They saw what she wanted them to see. But Viola? Viola was different. Always had been. They had a way of seeing through her act and penetrating to the deepest parts of her, leaving Maria vulnerable and exposed. It was a good feeling though. And Maria reached out a hand tol lightly brush against Viola's jaw line, her head tilted slightly to the side as she just mulled over the words.
Instead of choosing to speak though Maria leaned in and pressed her likes roughly against Viola's. When in doubt, kissing was always her first resort. But this time it was almost in accepts. Accepting that Viola had become close to her and that they did truly see her, like they had said.
@viola (Maria is being quiet today :/)

Being the subject of Maria’s scrutiny was a little unnerving for Viola. They were used to Maria looking at people, but that was more in appreciation or lust or something that was purely physical. The way Maria was looking at them had nothing to do with physical desire and everything to do with the person that was hiding under the mask that Maria put on for the world. Maria reached up to touch their jaw, and Viola didn’t flinch away. Flinching away, when they had just professed how deeply they saw her, wouldn’t be good for either of them. There was a moment more of silence, before Maria leaned forward to kiss them. Viola had half-expected that, since kissing seemed to be Maria’s primary form of communication, especially when she didn’t have the words. When they pulled away, Viola met Maria’s eyes again. “Someday, someone else is going to understand you, too.” Viola wished they could be enough, but they knew that only having one person in your life who saw you as you were was disheartening. It was, after all, the same thing they were going through, and while Viola loved Maria… knowing that someone could understand them left them craving more.
