Personality
Likes:
Outdoors, adventure, history, music, sports, piano.
Dislikes:
Broken promises, hospitals, cats, his biological mother, politics and goblins
Erised:
What Milan desires the most is the truth behind his abandonment; Who he really is and what's the true story surrounding him.
As far as goals go, Milan hasn't fixed his mind on one objective. He lives life as it comes and sees himself in the right place at the moment. Whatever's ahead of him is something he'll see/experience whilst on the road.
Amortentia:
The salty scent of sea breeze, the tangy smell of oranges, the sweet scent of vanilla, the enticing fragrance of mint, and the burning aroma of a recently-lit match
Boggart:
The one thing Milan fears is love, or the idea of it. Having lost many people in his life, he is starting to believe that it is a game that just wasn't built for him. He doesn't want to pour his heart out, only to get it broken into a thousand pieces.
He’s afraid of losing himself, afraid of losing control, afraid of losing the upper hand.
Overall Personality:
Charming, smart, and resourceful these are all words used to describe the persona that is Milan Merisi; A man built on the foundations of his own principles and laws, he has adopted an unorthodox style of living. Milan, also known as Mickey by friends is a resourceful individual with dexterity like no other. His cunning intelligence and conniving ability to think two steps ahead makes him as sly as a fox in both his actions and words. As slippery as he may be sometimes, Milan never goes back on his word. Once he has made a vow, he does his utmost best to uphold that very vow 'til the end. Despite his promise to never break a promise, Milan's calculating and opportunistic nature will always look for loopholes in every deal he makes.
Lying, cheating and stealing are some of his main philosophies in life. Always using dirty, underhanded tactics, he is used to getting what he wants through any means necessary. This unfair style he has adapted to in life has molded him into a master in the art of deception; a true wolf in sheep's clothing and his theatrics are set to even fool the devil himself. Milan's craft in the game of lies and deceit makes him an excellent thief. He is an unpredictable individual and is bound to leave a number of people in question about his actions. You just never know what's next with him...
Expertly vindictive, Milan believes revenge is indeed a dish best served cold and boy does he serve it cold alright. He can be hell-bent on retribution especially when holding grudges and very rarely does he find room in his heart to forgive without getting even first. As sinister as he sounds, Milan does have a soft side, especially for children. This can be seen in the philanthropic work he has set up globally.
Having lived most his life on the edge he doesn't know the boundaries of death and stupidity. Milan is the type of person to jump headfirst into the arms of danger, never fearing what is to come after. This bold and daring attitude has created a fearless and brave man, but at the same time an idiotic daredevil. The sarcastic humor his persona houses is a day-to-day trait that can be seen by most he interacts with. He is also a knowledge hungry person and is quiet adventurous. It is in this that he's always exploring new avenue's and fishing for new things to learn.

History:
Once upon a time in the wizarding village of Vertice, Italy, December of the year 1994 a woman clothed in a black ensemble approached the brown wooden doors of a small orphanage. It was a windy and peaceful night and the streets were brightly lit and decorated in preparation for the upcoming Christmas holidays. With each step the woman took down the road she could hear the feint cheers of celebration and music coming from the buildings flanking her sides. It was a time of joyous celebration for many, but not for her. If anything, it was a night of pain and suffering. She couldn't shake the feeling of deep regret and sadness that was paining her heart, but she knew this had to be done. She had no choice...
As she reached the wooden doors, she put down a crying bundle of white sheets encased in a beautifully woven basket at the foot of the door. Whispering words of love to the tiny face peaking out of the basket, she bestowed the crying infant with a kiss before knocking multiple times on the door. She casted one last glance at the baby who's cries only grew louder and louder. Without another word, she drew her wand and apparated away from the tragic scene.
Thus began the childhood of little Milan.
Ever since the night of his abandonment, he was raised and cared for by the sisters of the orphanage. As a young boy, Milan didn't understand why he was staying at the home with different parental figures and so many other children. Life inside the walls of the home was difficult at times. The orphanage sheltered about twenty children and the financial situation inside the household wasn't very bright. Despite the difficult times, the sisters were always loving and caring for all the children there.
Milan lived a care-free and happy life. He always found reasons to smile even when times were dark and was the rebellious jokester around the orphanage. He got along with almost everyone and it was during that time of his life that he built the strongest relationships.
Whilst at the orphanage Milan met a boy who was older than he was. The boy who went by the name Emilio led a small group orphans who stole as a means of thrill seeking as well as getting a few Knuts in their pockets. Intrigued by this, Milan wanted in on their little scheme and was welcomed into their clique. With their guidance Milan was exposed to the streets of Vertice where he began his thieving acts. Progress was slow in the beginning as Milan was caught countless of times. His victims often took justice into their own hands and beat the young boy, or they sometimes dragged him to the orphanage by the neck, where he'd get several lashings from the sisters.
For the young Milan life at the orphanage was home. He enjoyed it there, but there was always a gap that was missing in his life. The sisters tried filling the void, but it was never enough. It was a hole that only a parents love could fill and he longed for that the most. Like many others at the orphanage he maintained hope of being adopted one day and that day came earlier than he expected....It was a sunny and warm day in the community and an eight year old Milan was eyeing up his next target for the day; An old man with graying hair and a walking stick; clearly a soul that had been worn down by age. It was a good day for Milan. He had been able to make a healthy ten Galleons off pick-pocketing alone and what better way was there to end the day by stealing from an old man.
'Shame on you.' Some would say 'How dare you steal from a poor old man.'
But the poor old man didn't need the mere cents Milan was going to take from him. Judging by the way he dressed and the manor in which he spoke in, the old man wasn't from around here and neither was he poor. Milan had been tailing the senior citizen ever since hearing that pouch of money dancing in the pocket of his coat and now he was waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Once the moment presented itself, Milan burst off into a run from behind the man and snatched the pouch from his pocket. Upon grabbing the money, he continued his run, but he didn't even make it five feet when he fell to the ground, unable to move.
The old man then picked up the bag of money and placed it where it once was before looking at the motionless heap that was Milan.
"Such a valiant yet foolish act of stupidity...Nevertheless, I commend you on your unsuccessful attempt." The man said with a deep English accent. He pointed his walking stick at Milan and performed the counter-curse of the binding spell he had used on him. He then proceeded in helping the boy to his feet and noticed the torn rags he was in. "Where are your parents boy?" He asked with a gentle smile as he leaned on his stick.
Milan's first thought of reaction was to run away once he was able to move, but he was afraid of what the man would do to him if he did. As he stood looking up at the grey haired stranger he felt relaxed more than anything. The man's aging face had a look of hostility rather than one of anger that he was expecting and when he smiled the fear Milan was experiencing died. "I have none." Milan answered his question whilst dusting himself off.
"My dear boy then who takes care of you?" The old man asked, puzzled by Milan's answer.
"The sisters at the orphanage." Milan replied.
"I see..." The old man said with a few nods "Well, then I must speak with them...Would you be kind enough as to show me the way there?" He asked.
Milan nodded with a soft sigh before leading the way to the orphanage. He knew he was in trouble. It wasn't the first time something like this happened. He knew what was coming once he walked through those doors with the old man. Ten maybe twenty lashings were going to come his way and he was mentally preparing himself for it. When they reached the orphanage and the old man spoke privately to the sisters, Milan sat quietly, awaiting his punishment. For an hour they exchanged words and upon finishing the news Milan got weren't 10 strikes with a stick, instead one of the sisters explained to him that they had found him a new home.
The old man had signed the papers to adopt him and the move was immediate. For long Milan had dreamed of this day, but ever so reluctant was he to leave. The emotional bonds the boy had with the home and the people there were so strong that he didn't want to let go. He cried and he begged to stay, even going as far as choosing to take the lashings instead. Eventually, after some convincing, Milan said his goodbyes and packed his little belongings and stood at the door, ready to leave. As he stood there, suitcase in hand the head sister of the orphanage handed him a box with a piece of everyone inside so he could remember them by...
Upon walking through the brown doors of the orphanage, Milan's new life with the old man began. James Calaway (the old man) was born in the year 1955 to two muggles in Manchester, England. A man who was dedicated to his craft, James or Mr. Calaway as Milan called him was an English scholar as well as a wizard with a knack for historical science and archeology. Life with Mr. Calaway was nothing Milan expected. They lived on a residence known as Belle Isle, a large piece of property which James had inherited upon the passing of his parents. The pair lived a fairly secluded life at the manor, mostly having the company of each other and the staff who worked around the home. Mr. Calaway had no extended family and was very secluded about the personal side of his life. As a result Milan's childhood at the manor was quiet lonely.
As time passed, Milan quickly became fond of the old man. Mr. Calaway always treated him like a son and Milan was grateful for all he did for him. Milan's love for the man only grew as time proceeded, never did it waver. Milan had a great deal of respect for him. He always curbed Milan's enthusiasm and hunger for knowledge with books and moral stories. He taught him everything from literature, to science, to history to even the humble arts of music. Not only was he Milan's father figure, but also a mentor in the boys eyes.
Around the age of nine, Milan began showing signs of his magical ability and upon turning eleven he got the letter of acceptance from Hogwarts. Mr. Calaway explained everything to him and the very next day they stopped by Diagon Alley to pick up his supplies. Milan was ecstatic about the magic world and couldn't wait to begin his schooling life at Hogwarts. He was so excited about the whole thing that once he got home after the trip to Diagon Alley he broke his wand while running around 'pretending' to be a wizard.
By the time school started, Milan had gotten a replacement wand and was sorted into Ravenclaw house. During his time at Hogwarts, he was a hard worker, but playful as well. He enjoyed the joys of partying and was quiet the social demon when he was around people. He also was a dedicated individual when it came to his studies and at the end of his seventh year, he achieved grades 'O' in Transfiguration, 'E' in Charms, 'O' in Potions, 'O' in DADA, and an 'E' in Herbology, all of which were his N.E.W.T level classes. He also achieved an' A' in Ancient Runes, an 'O' in Ancient Studies, an 'A' in Alchemy and an 'E' in Arithmancy. Milan's good grades qualified him for Auror training which he went on to tackle after graduation.
At nineteen years of age, Milan received the tragic news of Mr. Calaway's passing. The cause of death was as a result of a heart condition the old man was living with and Milan was broken by the news. He attended the funeral of his beloved mentor and grieved for days at his passing. At the reading of the old man's will, Milan inherited all of his wealth and assets. The executor also handed out two letters to him; one of which was written by Calaway on his death bed. The second letter was one the old man spoke of in his letter. It was written in a neat scrawl with the words 'To my son, Milan' on the front. In his letter, Mr. Calaway wrote of the second being from his real mother and that it was found in the basket that held him on the night of his abandonment. The executor also handed Milan the intricately woven basket.
'Till this day Milan has never opened the letter from his mother. The thought of it brings anger to his very heart.
Milan was able to bounce back from the devastating blow of losing his dad and continued with his Auror training. By the time he turned twenty one, he completed the training and began working as a fully fledged member of the Ministry.
Apart from his Ministry work, Milan began a side career in archeology. With Mr. Calaway's journals as well as research documents, he had a solid foundation to build on. He gathered a small team and they began touring the world in search of ancient artifacts and relics. Five years into their adventures, the group were increasingly skilled at what they did. Whether it was wandering into cursed tombs, or exploring mysterious islands the crew always got what they were after. Milan even got his hands dirty in the wizarding black market, where he would sell some of the items they had found for hefty prices.
Milan was enjoying life as an adventurer and thief that at age 26 he left the law enforcement to make his transition into archeology full-time. He enjoyed his life as an auror but he wanted more than that. He didn't find the job thrilling anymore and hustling people or raiding tombs was where his heart was. Now 27 years of age Milan is living his dream.
