In an effort to distract herself from any thoughts pertaining to a certain blonde Quidditch player, Vi found herself studying more than ever. Sure, she was smart and studied and did her homework when she had to but Vi used to make a lot more of an effort to socialize with Theodosia and Ondina, but now she rarely spoke to them aside from at meals and maybe in the common room or in passing. Vi felt very odd around them now. She knew she couldn't tell them who she had spent her whole winter break with, and honestly she didn't even want to admit it to herself anymore. She loved Dustin, but he was a halfblood. She had been raised her whole life to believe they were vermin. But Dustin wasn't vermin. Yet, Viovinnia still ran away from him. She refused to admit it, but she was really running from herself. She had fallen for someone she never thought she would. She didn't want it to end, but she had ended it. And she didn't think it would ever be the same. It probably wouldn't. She needed to get over it.
So, the Slytherin was in the library doing an extra credit assignment for transfiguration. Things were going great until she came upon a page in the book talking about Anamagi and then she thought of Dustin again. Great. The blonde let out a frustrated sigh and slammed the book shut, setting her elbows on the table and resting her face in her hands as she took a few moments to just silently let out all her frustrations in low grumbles.

Dominic spent a good chunk of his time in the library, since he studied often. Okay, okay, studied obsessively. He was just wandering around trying to find somewhere to study when he stumbled upon Vi. He hung back a little, watching her for a moment. It seemed as though she was attempting to study, but was not doing so well. Only a few seconds into watching her she closed her book, or rather slammed it, before putting her face on her hands, grumbling.
The first thing he felt was worry, but he rarely acted on that feeling. Instead he chose to access another feeling. To be challenging. He approached, taking a seat diagonal to her without speaking at first. Then, he cleared his throat, "it's called reading," he said flatly. "You do it with your eyes open," he suggested. He guessed she would probably last out at him for that, but maybe that was what she needed right now.

With her head still in her hands, and the thought of Dustin sinking deeping into her head, the Slytherin rubbed her face exasperatedly. It was certainly going to be hard to get over the Quidditch player, for this was the first time she had ever found herself feeling this way for anyone. It was foreign and while it had at one point felt good, it felt horrible now. Vi closed her eyes and wished she could just obliviate herself, but then again she didn't want to. Those memories she had of Dustin were lovely, even if they all led to an unhappy ending.
Vi thought she had felt someone sat down at the table diagonal from her but with her eyes covered still by her hands, she didn't bother to look at them. If they knew what was good for them, they would leave her alone. But then the person spoke and Vi froze. She knew that voice. The Slytherin dropped her hands down to the table to look at Dominic Dippet with a slightly exhausted, annoyed look. Though, inside she found she was eternally grateful for his surprise presence. He was exactly the distraction she needed. "Well, would you look at what the kneazle dragged in," she let a smirk slowly spread across her face. "A Ravenclaw in his natural habitat. And telling others how to do things, no less," she spoke sarcastically. "So good to see you too, Dominic," she placed a hand over her chest to feign flattery.

She looked up at him and Dominic smirked. It was always a pleasure to banter with Vi. She looked at him like she was annoyed, but he knew that Vi didn't mind him coming around and joking with her every once in a while. Sometimes they could delve into personal things, but for the most part feelings weren't really hurt. Tnis was Vi.
Dominic raised his hands to either side, "Of course it's good to see me. Who else would stand here giving you the answers you seek, even if you didn't know you were seeking them," he said. "Why else would you be lurking in the library, V?" he smirked and then moved forward, lowering his arms and placing both hands on the table instead.

Dominic Dippet seemed to always enjoy giving Vi a hard time, which was perfectly fine with her because she quite enjoyed giving him a hard time as well. The two would usually banter back and forth, maybe an insult thrown in here or there but it was always in good fun. The two were kind of twisted in that way; they found fun in tearing one another down. Except, both of their egos were both so big it was practically impossible to hurt one another's feelings.
Viovinnia rolled her eyes before she matched Dominic's smirk with one of her own. "Ever think in taking up a career as a psychic?" She joked, playing along with his sarcasm. The Slytherin then placed a finger on her chin, tapping it lightly in a way as if she were thinking. "Hm. Why ever would someone go to a library? Certainly not to study," she said sarcastically, raising an eyebrow at the Ravenclaw. "To be bothered, now that is more like it."

She asked if he'd ever considered taking a job s a psychic and he scoffed, rolling his eyes, "why get paid to do something you're incredibly too good at. There's no room for growth there," he countered. Then she claimed that one must come to a library to be bothered, tapping her chin. He grinned, moving to take a seat. "That's what I figured. It's a good place to find an excuse not to study, depending one whose around," he leaned back in his chair and then lifted both feet onto the table, crossing his ankles over each other. "I figured you'd avoid this place since your boyfriend hangs out here," River, Dominics roommate and Vi's oh-so-loyal betrothed. He really was a pathetic excuse for a fiance, which made it all the more fun that it was Vi he was attached to.

Viovinnia's smirk remained but she rolled her eyes at the Ravenclaw. "Of course, how could I forget you need no improving. Dominic Dippet is positively perfect," she retorted, her voice dripping with playful sarcasm. Vi had always believed that there was always room for improvement, though she would never admit it. She supposed that's why she and Dominic got along so well. They both always thought they were he best there was.
The Slytherin raised an eyebrow at the Ravenclaw in front of her as he leaned back in his chair and kicked his feet up. She had, of course, come to the library to find a distraction. She silently cursed Dominic for being so observant. But then he mentioned boyfriend and Vi swore she would have done a spit take had she had some pumpkin juice. Her eyes widened a brief second before she remembered that Dominic had to, of course, be talking about River. It was Viovinnia's turn to sit back in her chair and fold her arms across her chest. "I made sure he wasn't around," she lied, looking down at the book in front of her.

She said he was perfect, her tone sarcastic and she shrugged, a smug smirk on his lips. "At least you can admit it, Vi. So many people don't seem to understand the truth," he sighed as if this was such a very, very sad topic.
Her face at the word 'boyfriend' was all he needed. He could die right now and be happy with that image for the rest of his afterlife. Then, she folded her arms and said she made sure he wasn't around, looking back at her book. "I'm sure he's doing the opposite," River used to avoid Vi, Dominic knew because he saw it many times, but nowadays the kid seemed to be more interested in finding her. He raised an eyebrow higher, "how is that going anyway? Really," he asked sincerely.

Vi lowered her brow in a glare but her lips betrayed her, threatening to turn up into a smirk. "How dare they," she said, matching his tone and sighing. When Dominic commented that River, wherever the boy was, was doing the opposite, she let out a frustrated sounding huff. It was like River had done a complete one-eighty, now more interested in finding Viovinnia and trying to impress her than he ever had been. She knew he had been through a lot, what with finding out about his sisters and his parents dying but, wait... why did she care!? In the back of her head she cursed the Gryffindor that had seemed to change her in far more many ways than she had originally thought. The Slytherin let out a deep sigh when Dominic asked how everything was going with her relationship with River. "It's going," she answered somewhat curtly. "As well as it could, I suppose." Her tone softened a bit then, not quite sure what to even think or say to Dominic. She was bursting at the seams. She wanted so badly to tell someone the truth, which was a feeling she had never really experienced before but then again she had never felt the way Dustin had made her feel either.

He chuckled at her smirking, saying 'how dare they' in people not knowing the truth about him needing no improving. Then, she let out a huff at the mention of River looking for her. Then, another sigh when he asked how things were going with River. Her answer was bland and typical, but her tone was softer than he expected. "I suppose I can't empathize well," he didn't have a betrothed, especially not one who was... like River. He wouldn't have minded being betrothed to someone like Vi or Ondina, they'd probably have a marriage that went just fine. He was a man of passion, though, which meant Vi and he would probably not have gone well. "We don't have to talk about it," he shrugged, leaning back in his chair again, "What else is new?"@vi

If Vi had had things her way, she never would have had a betrothed. It was such a medieval practice. She had always done what her parents had told her, and in a way she had always seen herself marrying River but it was only because she had been groomed to think that's what was destined for her. After Dustin, she wanted to be her own person. To break free of the hold her parents had over her future. But they had all seen how well that turned out for Theodorus. "How did you get so lucky to end up without a betrothed?" She said with fake malice as she pretended to glare at the Ravenclaw.
Viovinnia had always liked Dominic for his non-prying nature. He had always minded his own, and Vi had always liked that about him. The fact that they had similar tastes in humor and dry wit helped, too. She was thankful he said they didn't have to talk about what was bothering her, because while she did want to talk about it with someone she had yet to decide if Dominic was the person she wanted to have that conversation with. "Well, I was studying. But you can see how well that was going," she gestured to the closed book she had slammed shut before Dom had shown up. "What about you? I feel like I haven't spoken to you all year."

She asked how he got so lucky to not be betrothed and he shrugged, feigning non-chalance. In all honesty he was sure it was because he had a squib brother, which any parent would know upon investigation. Dominic kept that quite at school for the most part, so he didn't answer her verbally. Just have the shrug that answered nothing.
Then she said she was trying to study and he laughed, raising his arms in surrender for a moment. He enjoyed studying, of course, so felt a little bad for interrupting. "My year as been dull," that wasn't entirely true, but he hadn't done anything Vi would be interested in. He yawned, stretching his arms to put his hands behind his head. "Just making some new friends in powerful places, same as you, I assume," he hadn't met any Purifiers aside from Diana, but.

Viovinnia didn't expect a true answer from Dominic. In fact, even if she had given him an answer she probably would have been too wrapped around her own thoughts to hear his. Why were there families still practicing arranged marraiges anyway? Pure blood lines were dying off. For so long, Vi believed it was her duty to help stop that from happening. But now, she wondered if it was meant to happen. She quickly shook her head and let the thought evaporate. If anyone, especially a Purifier, got wind that she was even considering such things then she'd end up like her brother. Her parents sure would be proud.
The Slytherin raised an eyebrow as Dominic spoke, a small smirk appearing as he said he had been making friends in powerful places. He of course assumed she had, too. She hadn't really. Vi had actually made more acquaintances with lowly halfbloods and muggleborns this year than anything. She decided to not dote on that and instead pry a little. "Oh? What powerful friends, if I may ask, dear Dominic?"

Dominic chuckled, shaking his head as she asked what powerful friends he was referring to. He liked to make people wait, squirm, so he stood and brushed off his clothes. "Oh, just people who have been around this school and out. Ones who know what's best for us," he explained, not that it was very clear explanation. He cleared his throat and retrieved his bag, lifting it onto his shoulder. "Who knows, maybe you even know them," he winked, and then turned on his heel to leave. He never minded leaving mid conversation, that was something he did often. It showed power, he thought, or at least a carelessness he didn't mind being known for.
