It was late. Penelope had spend the entire afternoon in the music room. She was playing around with a new song, and this time, actually writing down what she was doing to change it. She started up in the music room right after classes, and now it was dark. She realized that she had missed out on dinner, again. If Cara had known what she had done or seen her, she would have easily scolded her for not watching the time. And quickly tell her that she should be eating three square meals a day.
Penelope made her way down the staircase. She made it safely to the first floor. She had passed many Gryffindors and Ravenclaws, luckily none of them were her sisters. But after all those steps, and multiple floors, she stumbled on the last three. Falling on her knees her violin case skid across the floor. ”No!” she exclaimed loudly. She rushed to the case, not even bothering to stand fully up. She grabbed it and moved quickly to the side of the hallway, because of the crowds of people leaving the great hall, all trying to go back to their dorms. Once to the side she opened the case and examined her violin and bow. Pulling each out, and observing that they weren’t harmed in any way. She signed relief and placed everything back where it needed to be. That was when she noticed that a pair of shoes were standing near her. More than a little embarrassed, she looked up. It was an older boy. How long had he been standing there?

Sav had never in his life gone to bed early. But he often slept late. It was a 'growing boy' thing, he guessed. But in any case, he was always one of the last ones to come back to the dorm. He would spend as much time as possible outside or in the great hall. On this particular evening, he was heading to the kitchens for a snack, even though he had just had dinner a few hours ago. It seemed like he was always hungry. That could also be because he was still a 'growing boy'. Though he was pretty sure he was already as tall as he would ever get. He was a large man, tall and broad with obvious muscles and wide shoulders and chest. He was obviously an athlete and anyone who knew him knew he planned on being a beater professionally.
on his way to the kitchens, he witnessed a bit of a spill on the main floor. A young girl stumbled down the stairs and dropped her instrument case in doing so. She scrambled to get it all together again quickly and avoided the rush coming in from outside as it had just started to rain and everyone was eager to get dry. Sav wanted to help her but he wasn't sure if she needed it, she seemed to have it handled on her own. He decided to check anyway, just in case. He walked over to her and stood over her a bit, looking down at the small girl and violin. "Hey, that was quite a tumble. Are you okay?" he asked her.

Her violin was safe. That was all that mattered. As Penelope closed her case, a large shadow came over her. She looked up to see a large boy. He must have been a seventh year. Her face turned pink with embarrassment as she smiled. ”Yea, I think I’m ok.” But she was so worried about her prized position that she had failed to even check. She then looked down. Her left knee was a little scraped up, and a little bit of blood was resulting in it. Her ankle was also a red, but not from blood, it did look scraped. She went to stand up, trying to get all her things together, and winced in pain. Her ankle was hurt. Not broken. She prayed. Her face turned even brighter. How embarrassing. Not only was had she tripped and fell down the stairs! But she had magically found a way to hurt her ankle. She looked back up to the boy. ”I’m fine, really.” She tried to convince herself, and the boy at the same time.

The girl insisted that she was okay but Sav didn’t believed her. He had seen his share of injuries before and had experienced a handful of them firsthand. He knew how tempting it was to power through them and pretend like he was fine even if every step hurt. How important it was to finish this run or this game. But he also knew from experience that the more you pretended it was okay, the longer it took to actually be okay. “No offense, but you don’t don’t really look okay. You’re all banged up.” he insisted. “Can I help you to the Hospital wing or something?” he offered. He was getting soft, he normally would have offered to help, but if she had said no he would have dropped it, letting her do her own thing. Now, at the point of his life that he was entering into currently, he knew he couldn’t leave her alone until he was sure that she was okay. He was growing much more protective lately and he wasn’t sure if that was just him maturing, or if it had something to do with the newfound acceptance that he had sisters.

Penelope’s ankle hurt. It didn’t hurt to bad, and she really didn’t want to make a big seen about it. He didn’t buy it. Penelope sighed and looked up at the boy. She sighed and looked at her knees and ankle. She felt her ankle. ”I don't think it's bad enough of the hospital wing. I think it’s just sprained.” This was not the first time for Penelope, but she was getting better about not tripping in public. It was nice for the boy to offer help. She figured that he wouldn’t let her off if she said no again so she smiled at him. ”Could you maybe help me to the Hufflepuff dorm? My sisters should be able to help me from there. I think if I just stay off of it for a bit, it’ll be fine.”

Sav was always a protector, as long as he could remember. He would help his brother if he got hurt while they were playing, and he always be the first to either of his parents side if either of them ever tripped or cut themselves. The young girl explained that she didn't think it was a bad enough injury to need to go see the healers in the hospital wing, however, she did think she just needed to get back to her common room, where she said her sisters could help her. Sav really didn't know where the Hufflepuff common room was, he had never really looked or needed to know, but he knew it was in the basements. "Sure! I can help... Uh... do you want me to pick you up? Or maybe you can just like... lean on me." he said, demonstrating. He was strong enough that he could probably carry both the girl and her instrument, but he didn't want to make her uncomfortable and he could see how being carried by a strange man could be uncomfortable. He could easily just support her bad foot by supplementing the weight on that side of her with his arm around her to keep her steady.

Being one of the youngest out of seven children wasn’t always the easiest. But Penelope did always have her siblings to look out of her. It was strange to have someone else offering to be so helpful. It was nice for the older man to offer to help her get to her dorm. She didn’t recognized the boy, so she figured he wasn’t a Hufflepuff, and he was much too nice to be a Slytherin. Not to say that she knew every older Hufflepuff boy, and not to say every Slytherin was mean. But living in the same common room as all the boys her age and older for five years, it was near impossible that she wouldn’t see him. And she found that most Slytherins were a little snobbish to say the least. But if she was right, that meant that he was going well out of his way to help her. That reminded her a bit of her brother. When the boy agreed to help her. ”No, I think I can stand.” She couldn’t bear the embarrassment for being carried down to the kitchen. After the fall, then if she was carried back, Penelope might actually die. ”I think if I just lean... on…. On you.” Her face turned a little red and she carefully moved to stand up, leaning on the boy, and not putting any weight on her sprained ankle and holding her violin case in one hand. She blushed even more and he helped her stand and his arm went around her, and she prayed that that no one was staring, she couldn’t bear that.

Sav didn’t mind helping the girl, it was the least he could do. How anyone could just see a young woman fall and then not stop and help, he wasn’t sure. He was never able to step over someone who needed help. He’d never been that type of person who glanced over their shoulder at an accident and then just shrug, insisting that someone else would go and help the victim. He wanted to take the situation into his own hands, he wanted to do what he could to help. It was the Gryffindor in him. It was the bravery, the courage and the chivalry all mixed into one tall, muscular package. Some would call him a hero, he’d shrug off the name. But he always let it go to his head. Maybe there was something a little self serving about helping people. “Do you want me to carry your violin case?” he asked her. It looked heavy, and she was already having a hard time putting any weight on her injured foot. He wanted to make it as easy for her as possible, especially since they were coming up on stairs. “How long have you been playing?” he asked, not wanting to make the walk in silence.

Penelope was beyond grateful for this stranger for stopping and helping her. She leaned on the older boy gratefully. He was extremely strong. He then offered to hold her violin. She nodded and handed it over to him ”Thank you.” It wasn’t extremely heavy, but it was quite awkward with her injured ankle and being helped by the boy. The two made the their way to the staircase leading to the basement, and the kitchen. Penelope was grateful that the boy asked her another question. She was so embarrassed that she couldn’t think of anything to say, and the boy speaking made it better. ”I picked up my first violin first year. I’ve been in love with it ever since. She smiled up at him. Still not knowing what to say.

She agreed to let him carry her violin and he almost felt like he should say something to assure her that he would be careful with it - but he then thought that she had to trust him, otherwise she wouldn’t have agreed to let him take it in the first place. He carried it with one hand and supported the girl with his other arm around her She seemed to be fine with him asking questions and answered willingly, good, he didn’t really want to walk in silence. He would, of course, he just wanted her to be comfortable, he knew it probably felt weird to be being helped by an older stranger, but he was a Gryffindor. There was no question in his mind on whether or not to offer help. “First year? So that would have been how many years ago exactly?” he asked. He didn’t know her, he only knew that she was a Hufflepuff, so he was trying to piece together a bit more by trying to figure out what year she was in. The 6th year liked to know people, but he found it a little more difficult to get to know students outside of his house or year. “I’m a 6th year - oh, and in Gryffindor.” he told her.

It was quite strange for the girl to get elp from this older boy. But he reminded her a lot of her older brother whom she loved dearly. She missed him, and this heroic older student was just what she needed. Although she didn’t seem to realize it all the way. ”about five years. I’m a fifth year.” So the boy was a Gryffindor. That explained a lot. That definitely explained why he was such a good guy, and it only reminded her more of her brother. And he was a 6th year, that only made him one year older than she was. ”So where were you heading, before…” She motioned down to her ankle. He had to be going somewhere. If she remembered right, he was heading away from his dorm room.

She was a 5th year. Yeah. That made sense. Sav figured that she was younger than him, she was surely smaller than him, but it wasn’t hard for most people to be smaller than him. He worked everyday to make sure he stayed quite large. She asked him where he was headed before he had stopped to help. It was a fair question since the Gryffindor dorm was so far away from the ground floor where he had found her. And it was late so he couldn’t really be headed out to meet anyone. “Oh, I was actually going to swing by the kitchens to grab a snack or something.” he admitted. “I do that a lot. The House elves love me down there.” he smirked. It was true, they were always very welcoming and friendly towards him, but he was sure they were like that towards anyone who came in. Quite a few things had happened in his life because of his trips to the Kitchens. He had met that girl a while ago that he kissed at the carnival, and he got to know one of his half-sisters for the first time thanks to the kitchens. They were one of his favorite places. “I’m guessing you were just heading to your common room already?” he asked.

Penelope smiled, she was glad he wasn’t going too far out of his way. She laughed at his response. She had to admit, it was quite a funny thing to hear. She had thought about going sometimes herself, and had gone once or twice, the house elves were very nice. ”They are very nice in the kitchen. But I didn’t know that they had regulars.” She laughed again. Wasn’t a bad to laugh at your own jokes? If that was the case, Penelope didn’t care. She thought it was funny. After that, he guessed that she was going to her common room. ”Right, I was just coming back from practicing and playing some new music.” She did have some homework that she should work on, but she would rather spend some time with her sisters. But he enjoyed speaking to this boy was really nice. By this point they had reached the bottom of the stairs and were now in the basement.

Sav was glad to have made the young girl laugh. However, he had to admit that he was telling the truth. “Oh yeah - it’s a pretty popular hang out spot. I hear you have to put in a reservation in advance on the night before a Quidditch match.” he added, a smirk on his lips, not at all being serious. However, it wasn’t uncommon to see an athlete or two eating their nerves down in the kitchens before a match. Sav ate a lot. He was a large man and was way more active than the average student. He was also someone who found himself a victim of the late night craving curse, especially when it came to meat and protein. His body always seemed to be craving meats. She agreed with his assumption that she was heading down to her common room before she had tripped. He nodded when she said that she had been playing music. Music seemed important to her in a way similar to how Quidditch was important to him. He always spent his free time running and exercising and flying when he could. He wanted to stay sharp and fit and was sure that she felt like she wanted to stay on top of her skills also. “I uh - I have to admit I’m not sure where we’re going from here... “ She’d have to take the lead. The Gryffindor had never tried to find the Hufflepuff common room and didn't know where to look. All he knew was that it was near the kitchens in the basement.

Penelope laughed again. She had been in the kitchen before and enjoyed it, but never around a Quidditch match. She could only imagine how busy it was, and why it go so. Possibly because all the players were too pumped up to sleep. But either way, she thought the reservation thing was a little silly. There was no way that that was true. But it was funny nonetheless. The two were now in the basement, and the poor older student didn’t know where the Hufflepuff dorm was. Penelope smiled at him, a little read. She had forgotten that fact, mostly because it was common knowledge to for her. ”It’s right by those barrels. She motioned to a stack of vinegar barrels that were placed right next to the entrance of the kitchen. It was quite interesting that there were four houses in the school, and that those four houses were hidden, and many students could go all seven years without knowing where the other houses resided.
