Hmmm....
....perhaps this one. And that one. And this one too. Oh wait no he already had that one. Or was it this one? Hmmm indeed.
Zach paused as he pondered his choice of books. He already had two in hand and maybe he didn’t need this book. Or maybe he did. His gaze was thoughtful as he pondered whether he needed this particular book on advanced charms or not. He already had enough books floating around his apartment to sink a ship. Was it any surprise really? Zach had always been one to throw himself into whatever he wanted to learn about. Fully, totally and 1000% percent. So was it any wonder he had umpteen books on just about every charm imaginable--good and bad, light and dark. He was a professor and therefore he had know as much as he humanely could. Though of course he wasn't going to teach half of the charms he knew because students just weren't strong enough to safely do such. It was more of a knowledge thing for him. Though with everything going on as much as he hated to admit to it--he might just have to use some of those darker charms as defense if it called for it.
The order meeting had definitely left the teacher with a lot to think about. A LOT. Criminals were here. They were out and about. Hell any one of them could be someone in the store--lurking around and such. Three of the most wanted men in the magical world. Ezra sounded like a sneaky pain in the ass, Anton a psychotic loon and Fenrir was just plain crazy. Top that off with the threat of Ian Owens breaking out of Azkaban. And that was just the icing on the cake--the disaster cake that was. Zach had heard the stories of what Ian had done--torturing and killing people. Hell he even killed an 8 month old. How bloody sick could you get?! And Zach wouldn't have put it past the loon--or any of them for that matter--to start going after the students just because they could. And that burned him more then anything else. They were the innocents here--the ones who didn't deserve any of this. None of them did. What gave those idiots the right to think that they could just come here and cause these problems--ugh it pissed him off just thinking about it!
Thus why Zach was here to start with. He wanted to see if there was any other charms he could use to protect his apartment and the school--the students had to be their priority. It definitely was his own. Those students were the future as corny as that may have sounded. And it was his responsibility--all of the teachers'--to make sure they learned everything they could, that they did their best and that they were safe. He could leave the capturing of the criminals to the aurors and the others who seemed to know more about the three men then he probably ever would. For now he would worry about the students--people he did know about and people he could protect and do something about.
His thoughts came to a resounding halt as he heard quite the commotion two isles down. People were shouting and it was clear hat things were getting knocked over if the tell tale thuds on the floor weren't anything to go by. He saw something flash out of the corner of his eye just before a voice--young and clearly female sounding yelled out,
'Look out!'
He turned with a start and ducked just as an obviously charmed book went flying over his head. What in the--?! He turned with a start as the book flew onward--bumping into shelves knocking things over, hitting people and being an all around nuisance. People were trying to catch it but the book seemed to be rather nimble as well. The owner was trying to keep peace long enough to where she could end the charm but that wasn't happening. What happened anyways?! He didn't have much time to ponder it as the book was making a beeline for the woman who just walked into the store. His eyes widened slightly as he took out his wand and waved it towards the book--familiar words spilling from his mouth in a confident tone,
"Finite Incantatem." Whatever charm was placed on the book ceased immediately as the tome hit the floor with a thud as it could no longer fly of course. Zach walked forward and picked up the book--a first years' charms book by the looks of it. He turned as the young girl approached him-- a bashful look on the second year's (he recognized the face now from his class) tomato red face. He handed her the book as he knew it had been in her hands without her having to say a word. She mumbled a soft 'thank you' and apologized again and again for the trouble--explaining that she was trying to show her little sister around before she went to her first year of Hogwarts next year.
"Its okay. It happens to us all. Just be careful. Even the simple charms can be dangerous if your not careful." he responded--the girl nodded again before turning to leave him be. And it was then that he himself turned towards the woman who had almost gotten hit by that book. She wasn't a face he recognized before so he doubted she was a professor.
"You all right?" he asked genuinely hoping that she was.
