Kinsey was looking for a book in the library, which wasn't too hard of a thing to do, except she wasn't exactly sure where the book was to start with. So she went to the librarian, but apparently she wasn't the only one in need of help. She had to stand in a short line before receiving the help she needed and Kinsey was fighting to not pay attention to the intentions of the people around her, to not let them overwhelm her. Mostly, the students were stressed or anxious, probably about an exam. Some were cheerful- probably as they left the library- and some definitely did not want to be here. She tried to ignore them all, but that was definitely easier said than done. Eventually, she got the location where the book was supposed to be from the librarian, but there were still lots of other students behind her, waiting for their own turn to talk to the librarian, so she told Kinsey to find the book on her own. Kins was more than happy to leave on her own to get away from all the high-strung students, so she left without hesitation. Besides, Kinsey felt quite at home in the library, so she didn't think it would take long for her to find the book in question. The deeper she went into the library, the fewer students she ran into, the more peace she felt at being free from their intentions. She was supposed to go off and meet Riley once she was done in the library, so she moved quickly through the shelves, searching for the place where the book in question was supposed to be. She stopped when she heard someone crying.
Kinsey's eyebrows furrowed as she heard low voices and more sobs. Then the intentions hit her. One seemed negative while the other positive and Kinsey felt nervous. Someone was hurting and she worried that it might be a situation similar to her own where one of them was being bullied and the other was taking an inordinate amount of pleasure from that. She took a few steps nearer, realizing that the sound of sobbing was actually on the other side of the bookshelf she was standing next to. She carefully removed two books, looking through the small hole, where she recognized the people instantly.
It was Diana and Dom and Diana was the one crying. Kinsey's heart hardened immediately and she felt almost ready to jump out and attack Dom, despite the fact that she was terrified of him. He would not torment her sister the way he did her. She would not allow that. Then, as she moved closer to the shelf she felt her gift strengthen. She knew both of them well enough that she could sense more from them, even at a small distance. Dom's intentions were ... protective? Comforting? While Diana was hurting with a a deep pain and only trying to find peace. What in the world was going on? He was ... trying to help her? Kinsey's mind couldn't wrap around the idea, but as she silently moved a few more books out of the way, she noticed the boy was definitely holding Diana and trying to help her.
Kinsey closed her eyes, straining her ears to try and hear what they were saying. She heard Dominic's low voice mumble something about ... over? What was over? Then her sister ... Kinsey struggled to hear what she said. Something about not knowing what to do? Wait, she was asking Dominic Dippet for advice!? After knowing all the things that he did to Kinsey, Diana was going to him for advice like this wasn't the first time. Kinsey felt confusion overwhelm her, but then shook her head. She needed to know what was going on. Maybe Dom was manipulating her sister somehow, though his intentions revealed no indication of that at all. She looked through the hole to see her sister leaning against him, even though he was kneeling in front of her. What was this? She heard her sister's voice, though she didn't know what she said. Then she heard Dom say he would stay right there. That he loved her. Kinsey felt the sincerity of his intentions and her sister's acceptance of his statement. She trusted him completely.
With that realization, Kinsey couldn't take anymore. She turned around, leaning her back against the bookshelf and then sliding down until she was sitting on the ground. She felt numb, confused and betrayed. Not only did Diana know all that Dom did to Kinsey like she revealed a few weeks ago, she ignored it and the two were close friends. Why ... why did Di not ask him to stop, to leave Kinsey alone? Why would she watch him tear Kinsey down year after year and do nothing when she was so close to him? He loved her and Kinsey felt certain that Diana loved him back. Could she ... love Dominic more than she loved Kinsey? Was that why she never asked him to let her little sister be? Kins couldn't understand it, couldn't fathom any of it.
She heard something shift behind her and realized she was much too close for comfort. If Dom were to hear something or decide it was time to leave and find Kinsey there ... she didn't want to know what he would do. Kinsey moved to her hands and knees, not trusting herself to stand and crawled away. Without paying attention to where she was going, she turned left and right a few times until she was lost in the library, not even caring about where she was. Her sister was hurting, broken and she trusted herself to the person who was in the process of hurting and breaking her little sister? Maybe her relationship with Dominic- whatever it was- was the reason why she didn't love Kinsey anymore, why she didn't want to see her or talk to her anymore.
Kinsey had no idea how long she sat there, all these thoughts running through her mind, before she came to the realization. If Diana and Dom were friends, she could no longer trust her sister anymore. Despite the terrible things Diana said weeks before to Kinsey, the younger Bainbridge had spend that time hoping that Diana would change her mind and they could be close again. Not anymore.
