Ever since he could remember, Aiden could understand birds. Because of that, he felt different. Luckily, he now knew what it was called and that it wasn’t completely strange. He had learned to live with it, but it did distract him from his studies quite a bit. He couldn’t study outside, or anywhere where birds could get to him. All he wanted to do was spend time with them, any animal really. But seeing that it was summer, and he had just turned 16, he was out in in some forested area near the house that his family was temporarily calling home in Oregon. As he was wondering, he got such a great impression of pain and loneliness that it seemed almost overwhelming. His siblings who were around found him and helped him look for the creature. He knew that it was a bird, and the kids quickly found a baby raven. The little raven had He carefully wrapped the little bird in a scarf that his sister was wearing, and the kids carefully brought the bird back home. The moment they walked through the door, the children's mother looked over to them and knew. “No” She told them, looking specifically at Aiden. This was not the first time this had happened ”but mom.” He said, feeling the pain the little bird was feeling. As much as the woman protested, she knew her son better than anyone else did, save maybe his twin. He would keep the bird no matter what she said. “Fine, just until its better, then, just like the others, it's off with it.” She finally gave in to her child's plea, knowing that this was not the first time, and certainly wouldn’t be his last. Aiden helped the bird, splinting the wing and feeding it bread and seeds. He then hopped online and researched what it took to own a raven. He needed to know what to and what not to feed it. In time the birds wing healed. Around this time, Aiden learned that he could have a Raven as a pet at Ilvermorney. There was no going back. He approached his mother. “No” was her first response. But after explaining that the bird would go with him to school. She started to change her mind. ‘Fine, but if the bird stays, there will be no more strays, and no more injured pets temporarily staying. We are no longer an animal hospital. Is that clear young man?” With some deep thought about it, Aiden looked over to the raven, and felt it’s gratitude and love for him, he smiled at his mother ”I promise”
