IC May Announcements and Fun!

So, my loves!
Most of you should know from the discord announcement made earlier today, but we have a pretty awesome thing going on. Basically we will begin exempting certain types of characters from the 30 post rule. We want to promote more diversity at Alohomora, so it'll work like this:

• Groups put under 'STRONGLY encouraged' on THIS LIST will be eligible for the exemption.
• These will be character types that we desperately need more of to balance out our numbers.
• At the beginning of each month we will include a 'Special' exemption. This will be a randomly chosen minority of some kind. For the duration of the month that group will also be exempt from the 30 post rule. At the end of the month, they will lose their exemption and the next group will be chosen. This will be to promote even more diversity of all kinds.
• Staff will do our best to remember what exemptions we have going, but it would be a great help to us if you bump your app and state that you are making a 30 post exempt character.

As you all should have seen, the Graduation board has been made! Basically what has happened in a nutshell: The Durmstrang and Beauxbaton students were attacked by 'terrorists' on their way home. Most of the students in the ship and carriage were killed, and the rest are recovering at St. Mungos. THis happend on the 18th of May. Hogwarts, Beauxbaton, and Durmstrang have unanimously decided to end the school year early, and summer vacation officially started MAY 20TH! So yes! You can start summer threads as long as they take place the last 11 days of May!

Announcement part two for IC May! Woooo!

We will begin aging up all the students! All students made from this point on should be made with the year they will be going into!

Okay, onward to the next (more exciting) announcement!As you've all noticed we've added a 'monetary system' to the site! For those unfamiliar with it it's pretty simple. A Monetary system is basically money. Earning money by posts. Spending money of stuff. Easy! Being HP themed, of course, we will be using Galleons! Over our years, we've offered special prizes and such for events, but we'd like to start offering things all year round, and to also give our characters more options! So, here are the rules and explanation on the monetary system!

• It applies ONLY to IC accounts. OOC accounts are unable to earn galleons.
• Only IC posts count. So anything the categories Site Events, Hogwarts, The Wizarding World, and the board Past & Flashback. Any posts made in a category or board not listed above will NOT accumulate galleons.
• Galleons can be saved, and spent to buy IC and OOC items and perks. We will be getting a shop up (located HERE ) for it, so you can see everything you can purchase there.
• If you are wanting to buy something but don't have enough Galleons on one account, you can combine totals from all your characters. (for example. You want to buy something that costs 100 Galleons. You have 25 on Character A and 75 on character B. You can combine both amounts to get the 100 Galleons necessary.)
• When you purchase something the Galleons will be deducted by staff from your account. We will keep a record of everything that has been purchased HERE, so you can always go back to review what you've bought.
• If you feel an amount is wrong (like you weren't awarded some gold for some reason), let us know HERE, and we will review it to see if there was a glitch with the plugin. (Especially at the beginning it is likely that we will have minor glitches as we find them. THis is your way to let us know when there is a problem.
• Using the same link as above, there will be a way to earn extra Galleons through completing certain tasks! If you complete the task, you will need to post in that thread to claim the gold you deserve! We will let you know in some way what those tasks are that earn extra gold.
• Right now you will earn ONE Galleon per post. This may increase or change in the future as we are still working on the shop and prices. If the amount you earn per post changes we will notify you in some way!

For now, you may notice that the shop threads (shop, turn in, review, record) are not totally set up. We will be getting those set up this weekend, but for now we'd like to give people a chance to start earning Galleons! Today (up until now) has been a trial run to find our problem boards. Now that those should all be fixed though, any post made AFTER this announcement will accumulate galleons! So have fun earning money! I'll post another announcement in this thread once the shop threads are all set up!

Are you sick of announcements yet? Well too bad! We have an exciting one for you! I'll keep it short and to the point though! Basically we'd like to announce a new staff member! They've been with us about four months, but proven to be an amazing and passionate person who can make a huge contribution to the staff. They will be joining the LORE TEAM!
